We needed our heating system serviced because some of our radiators were not working. Sean, with Verne & Ellsworth Hann, swung by and diagnosed the problem. He was thorough, gave us options, and, you could tell, enjoyed his job, which made him fun to be around. He made the necessary fixes, and now our home will be ready for the family to visit during Christmas. I would not hesitate to use Sean and Verne & Ellsworth Hann again.

My thermostat was not working. I called Verne & Ellsworth Hann for service. They were able to schedule me right away. Ray B was the technician. From the moment he arrived he was professional and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the issue and replaced my thermostat. What impressed me the most is that he went above and beyond. He checked my carbon monoxide levels and checked to make sure everything was functioning properly. Ray also programmed my thermostat to automatically adjust to my preferred temperature throughout the week. Thank you for the outstanding service!

Looked around extensively for contractors to perform several plumbing jobs and and some minor support for our boiler heat unit. We were concerned about having skilled contractors for the boiler and knowing our house is a little older. We eventually selected V&E Hann and are VERY happy with our choice!Sean changed our boiler zone valve quickly, efficiently, and the work looks great. He was knowledgeable and very helpful in checking all four zones on our system.Carmen and Mitch knocked out all 4 plumbing jobs before lunch, including replacing our homes original shut-off valve and pressure regulator. Its good feeling that our changes brought our home up to current standards (and stopped all the annoying random leaks!).Overall, the whole crew was very polite, professional, clean, knowledgeable, considerate, friendly... I dont know what else to say. The work was good, the people were great. Above our expectations. Looking forward to having them as our plumbing, boiler, and AC partners for the future.

We needed two services calls today. Carmen F. (Plumbing) came to service our gas leak pipe issue and Greg B. (Heating) came to service the our downstairs unit furnace. Both gave excellent service! They made great suggestions to repair/replacement and no sells pressure. Carmen F. gave us the best options for capping our pipes and was able to reach out to his dispatch to schedule our last minute second needed service call. Greg B. Came this morning to do a yearly service call. He showed me how to change the batteries in my thermostat. Something no one told me to do, didnt know it had batteries in it. Installed a whole new HVAC, replacing our furnace with a hybrid heat pump and furnace...It was a big job.Great experience, from the initial visit to the final clean up, everything was great. Kevin - who gave me an estimate - was patient, and never tried to rush me into a decision. He answered all the questions my wife and I had. The installation went very smoothly, and found out the installers had to spend a bunch of time digging up parts of a tree trunk in order to install the heat pump: they never complained.Theres a reason these guys are so highly rated.

Jeff P. was the technician who came by today, and he was very courteous and professional. He explained everything he did, and resolved our problem promptly, plus a tune up of the boiler. He did a great job! I definitely recommend Verne & Ellsworth Hann!I have an old house, so today I had Thomas D over for a separate issue, and like Jeff P, he was very professional and courteous. He was assessing the situation with an old, rusted cast iron vent pipe, and explained the options for replacing the pipe section, or replacing the entire vent and drain stack that is over 100 years old. So as far as assessments go, it was quick but thorough. I’ll be waiting for the quote.Update: I just had the above section of the vent pipe replaced. Carmen F was the technician assigned to do the work, and he was professional and courteous as well. He showed me the rusted out sections, took pictures, and cleared out debris from the remaining pipes.The rusted pipe was replaced with PVC, and it all looks good. He was pretty quick too! Thank you Carmen F and his assistant, and thanks VH for great work !

Our furnace had failed (clicking on but not providing heat). My next day appointment got turned into a day-of appointment because they notified me quickly that another customer had cancelled. The tech (Derek L) was great. Let us know that everything was in spec (and was able to start the furnace). Advised us about what to look for in terms of error codes if we had further issues and gave us other useful pointers. I was very happy (even if we don’t have a definitive answer). We at least have a warm house.

My SO and I moved into a house with something very new inhabiting it as well.A boiler, this boiler is ancient, as old as the house, if not older. Coal converted to Natural Gas, radiators as far as the eye can see.We first spoke with V&EH to service this behemoth, but after a significant discussion with my SO, we opted to revisit the topic of retiring the ancient beast in the basement.Our installers were Matt, Graham, and Bill. They were in time every day, polite, respected our request to be mindful of our pets and care for the back door. They cleaned up after themselves and swept / tidied the workspace daily (literally leaving it cleaner than it was found), and whenever something came up that required a decision be made about placement of an item, they consulted us immediately, gave their input and suggestions but ultimately left it to us, the people who had to live with it.I would recommend these three to anyone asking.Id recommend V&EH to those seeking boiler, or Hot Water heater maintenance or replacement in the future.

VEH is top of the line! Recently had them out to repair a corroded water shut-off valve & install a new water line in order to install our new fridge. The plumber who came out was very friendly, incredibly helpful and did way more than he was asked to do. I couldn’t thank him enough for taking a few extra steps to make our process smoother. HVAC ReplacementWe moved into our house in 2013 and just now are getting around to replacing our outdated furnace (installed 2011 or 2012) and air conditioning unit (installed 1950s).We had three companies come out to the house for estimates.The lowest and best quote was from Verne & Ellsworth Hann.The salesperson who came to the house was prompty, friendly, and great at explaining our best options. There was zero pressure and his knowledge was clearly evident. Once I decided to purchase it was easy to navigate financing and payment.They scheduled install 1 week out from the day we purchased. Two techs came and had our system installed in two days (8 hours the first day, 6 hours the second day). The old units were torn out the first day, along with install of both the furnace and air conditioner. The AC was active by the end of the first day, which helped us keep the house cool during the rest of the install. Furnace was completed on the second day.Jayson and Nate from VE Hann were chill, helpful, explanatory, and tidy. Just some nice easy going guys!We did financing (32 montly payments, no interest) through V&E Hann, which was really helpful!I picked VEH because of their reputation, locality, and their price. I would not hesitate to recommend them for your HVAC needs!

Where do I begin! If you need a HVAC system or repairs you need to call VERNE & ELLSWORTH HANN INC. They are AMAZING!! I live in Richmond, Va. and although they didnt put a system in my home they did put one in my parents home. We had four different companies to give quotes on replacing the AC and furnace in my parents home. Although, VEH wasnt the lowest in price they were the BEST! I have learned that cheaper isnt always better and you pay for what you get! They were the ONLY company that mentioned replacing the old duct work. All the other companies were just replacing the units and still using all the existing old duct work not to mention my moms old duct work was 40+ years old!! Bill ( one of the owners) came out to give my mom a quote on her system, I loved that because you were not dealing with some sales rep. you had the owner himself and that spoke volume to me. He was prompt, professional, there was no pressure selling and he was HONEST! With me living in Virginia 350 miles away it sure felt good knowing my parents were in great hands! Bill kept me updated every single step of the way. He emailed or called me to let me know what would be taking place next. The crew was spotless they cleaned up so well you couldnt even tell that they had been there. I dont think my parents basement floor has ever been that clean! :) The HVAC technicians were knowledgeable and very nice. Bill told me it would take two days and they finished right on time. First impressions mean a lot and they are usually deal breakers for me. VERNE & ELLSWORTH HANN left an everlasting impression. My mom is happy and that makes me an even happier customer here in Virginia. I posted some pictures of the before and after. Bryan replaced kitchen faucet supply line valves. The kitchen hot water had flecks of black debris. Online, I read that old supply valves or an old faucet could be the problem. The black specks persisted after the valves were replaced, so Bryan checked the faucet, taking off the faucet head from the flexible neck. Inside the faucet head was a pocket of black debris. I didnt know that the sprayer head unscrewed from the hose. Now, our hot water is clear, thanks to our plumbers persistence.

Ive been a happy customer of V&EH for years. Recently, I had a routine tuneup of my furnace, which was handled very well by technician Jeff P. He mentioned that my water heater was a fairly old model, and I asked him some questions about lifespan and potential issues that could arise. Turns out my water heater was well over 20 years old, and was very likely nearing the end of its life. At the end of the tuneup appointment, Jeff provided several estimates for different replacement models. I ended up selecting one of the models and he happened to be the technician who installed the new unit. Once again, I was impressed with his work quality, professional style, and thoughtful customer service. Definitely recommend V&EH for their products and service.

From start to finish, our experience with Verne & Ellsworth Hann has been five star worthy. We were in need of both an AC and furnace replacement, and after receiving estimates from multiple businesses, we knew we wanted to trust Verne & Ellsworth. Tim was wonderful to work with during the proposal stage of the process. He took the time to answer all of our questions, and he was extremely knowledgeable about the installation process and equipment. We appreciated that his expertise went beyond just sales! Tony, the project manager, was wonderful enough to contact me as soon as an opening was available so that we could get the equipment installed sooner than initially scheduled. I was most impressed with the installers, Greg and Sean, who went above and beyond! They worked tirelessly for 2 days, and they were professional, kind, and explained everything to me once the installation was completed. The best part is that there was no mess after they finished! I couldn’t believe how clean and organized their work area was even after day 1/2 of the project. I just assume that I’ll always have a mess to clean up after having any kind of work done in the house, and it meant a lot to me that they took extra care to respect our home. Kevin was great at explaining the process prior to our purchase, and was able to schedule us quickly. These guys have bailed me out of a jam more than once. Weve used them for new ductwork, a new water heater, and most recently a new furnace and a/c. All in older homes where passing a Point of Sale inspection is a must (and they do with flying colors). They are professional, down-to-earth, and their price is always better than the competitors. Chris is easy to work with and never engages in high pressure sales tactics like some other big-name local HVAC companies. He explains the problem, lays out options, and gives his guidance on the best route to take. I still feel like I am making the decision after being educated versus being pushed into an over-priced solution or a scam of a service-plan. I love that I can trust VE&H and will continue using them for all things HVAC.

He immediately realized that the unit was too big and to reduce the cost of gas and electricity, he suggested going for a smaller size. I anticipated it would take some time, however they were able to schedule the installation quickly. The installation crew was outstanding, diligent, and professional, arrived on time, communicated well (to me that is a plus). Every time I went to check on their progress during the day, I was amazed by how much they were accomplishing. They would also ask if I had any other questions. Kevin was easy to work with, gave us a better quote, and arranged to have the furnace put in three days later. The crew that came to our apartment, Jacob, Andrew and Mandel, were efficient, professional, and just noce guys! Whole job done in one day and we are ready for the winter. Great experience!

I discovered that my heat exchangers were failing on my ~20 year old boiler. Bill Hahn worked with me and gave me an offer for a new boiler and hot water heater I could not refuse. On the days of installation, Bill R., Adam, and Graham arrived promptly and were wonderful. Updates were communicated regularly, and all of them took their time going over my new setup, going over troubleshooting concerns, and even labeling all of the valves. VEH recently installed a new HVAC system in my home. From start to finish they were the consummate professionals! It started with Tim Posey who provided the quote for the work to be performed. He was thorough in his details and was willing to work with us to realize the best possible price for the work. He even returned to our home following the installation to answer a few questions we had regarding the unit.The installers, Andrew and Graham were diligent in performing the work and explained what they were doing every step of the way. They completed the work on time and left the basement area very clean! They never slacked off while completing the work.The customer service from Chelsea to Lauri in the accounting department was very responsive to my questions and required documentation for the Dominion energy rebate.I cant say enough about VEH! I recommend them without reservation.

It was an overall fantastic experience with Barry and Jayson; they showed up exactly when they said they would, worked steadily through both days, made sure we knew where they were on the installation frequently, cleaned upat the end of each day and at the end of the install and throughout were always polite and cheerful. He thoroughly examined and cleaned my unit. He told me what needed to be done without pressuring me to do any of it. He simply provided me the facts and costs and left the rest up to me. I appreciate that because other companies will definitely try to scare you into work that’s not necessary. I wanted a quote for an AC unit and Greg B took the time out to call the office and get my estimate scheduled for me. I will request him specifically for any future work necessary for my furnace! He was exactly on time, very friendly and most importantly so knowledgeable. He helped me adjust my third floor radiators and caught a leak I had not noticed in another radiator. He explained how the vents work to help me manage my system to meet my needs. I highly recommend Joe S. and the rest of the team.

Support local business, my ancient broiler went out, was not cheap, a needed done right a way, it was winter! Dale sourced a unit, with a great warranty, got a credit line to make payments. They explained everything well gave me heads up on potential unforeseen issues, which did happen, pipe under foundation was leaking, much more money needed! Dale figured very economical fix for that, and helped me minimize my costs thru the whole process.I am very pleased with their service, and warm!

I had a new AC and heat pump installed last week. This company is top notch. Starting with Kevin Krejci, project manager, and following with installers Greg, Shawn and Shawn, - all deserve a highest mark for diligence, great quality, exceptional customer service and tidiness. Kevin worked with me to have the option that suited me, always called me back when i had questions. Greg, Shawn and Shawn were always on time, were great at explaining stuff clearly, always listened, were exceptionally friendly and cordial. It was such a pleasure having this company over. They also impressed my neighbor as they had to work at her basement to replace the ducts from my indoor unit to the outside. I wish there were more companies like Verne and Ellsworth Hann!

Jake was an incredible technician! Our new (very old) house has a boiler and we are unfamiliar with boiler systems. Jake inspected the neglected boiler and radiators in the whole house, and explained in great detail what each part is and what function it has. He recommended some urgent repairs, and other repairs we can prioritize over time. He even explained how to maintain our radiators and how to heat our home with the most energy efficient settings. He took so much time in his explanations, it gave us a great understanding. Cant imagine using anyone else going forward.

The team of John, Bryan, and Keith were amazing. On time every day, clean, professional, courteous, kind, and considerate. Installing AC in an old Shaker house is no easy feat, but these guys did it. They found ways to route ducts that cost us minimal closet space. They kept us up to date along the way, sought our input, and were genuinely excited to get our AC installed. Our 100 year old house is finally cool. We cannot recommend them enough.

Pleasant, prompt and professional. Matt, Bill, Adam, Keith and assorted others worked efficiently to take out my ancient boiler and install the new one. All questions answered. Will definitely recommend.Now I am several months into this install. We have had 2 service calls so far to be sure everything is working well. I wont go into what a skim is, but this company has been great. Adam came today to do our second skim. I love to learn new things, and he clearly knew what he was doing and didnt mind explaining the procedure, what each piece of equipment was for, and was generally helpful. Such a pleasure to work with a company that stands by their work, and also employs quality workmen. Way to go, Adam! Hoping the company gives you a gold star. You earned it.
