    I want to say thank you, to Nathan and John; and everyone else who helped with the installation of my new central ac unit. I had an ugly mold issue and Shafer Services quickly provided resolution to the problem. I had called them for water heater issues before, and they were prompt, courteous and knowledgeable!     Great service ! Mike did a excellent job cleaning out my inside house unit coils! He showed me before and after photos pictures of the coils. Beautiful job !!! He answer all my questions.He was very friendly and professional. Plus I got a 10% senior discount!!!

    I initially called Shafer Services for help detecting a leak. They have been in business a long time and have an amazing track record of 5 - Star reviews. Now I see why! They sent Ismael who called me ahead of time to get some additional information from me. After talking with him for a few minutes I could tell that he knew what he was doing! When he arrived he went right to work with his plan. I have to say he was clean cut, neatly dressed, respectful of our home(wore shoe covers each time he came inside), professional, and most important knowledgeable of our problem). He eliminated possible leak sources and was able to find the problem! We were just sure we had a slab leak(as we were told by another company) but were totally relieved that Ismael found it to be an underground pipe outside where I am able to turn off a valve and only turn it on when I need to use it. The leak is slow and we are not going to spend a ton of money to fix it. We will be calling Shafer Services from now on for all of our plumbing needs!

    Frank was extremely patient, professional, and pleasant as we asked countless questions during discussion of water heaters, comparing tank vs tankless, as our current water heater is having a moment. He spent additional time discussing water softeners and providing us a quote as I requested, despite knowing it could be some time until our current system needs replacing. As if that wasn’t enough, instead of quoting price to replace outdoor faucets I assumed required replacement, Frank performed a quick and easy fix, at no charge. We will absolutely call Frank Rocha at Shafer when next we need a plumber!

    I was having some issues with my water fixtures and knocking in the walls when running the washer. Sergio, the plumber, came out and quickly diagnosed the issue. He found that I had high water pressure and a leak in my yard. He fixed the leak and water pressure as well as the noise in the house when running the washer. He was very professional, very knowledgeable and worked efficiently all-the-while explaining the issues and how he was addressing them. I will definitely be using this company again if I ever have need! Highly recommend!

    Called them for clogged pipe and water backup. Shafer was prompt and on time with updates on who was coming out and when they would be out. Chris was the technician that serviced the call. He was very polite and informative, he explained everything clearly, gave me options with pricing for each service. Unclogged my drain and gave me several reasons why it happens and several preventive tips. Price was very reasonable with a guaranteed for the work. I will definitely call them for all plumbing and AC (they do that as well) each and every time and have already referred them to someone else.

    My husband and I have been clients of Shafer Services for approximately 10 years (I think). We have had a variety of plumbing and ac issues over the years and Shafer has always been there for us! This time around I had to put in a review! We needed extensive plumbing work done and as usual Shafer stepped up. Ismael P. is THE BEST master plumber. He set up everything for us - hydrostatic testing, excavation - EVERYTHING. When things went wonky (as it happens with older homes), they gave us peace of mind and worked with us. 100% would recommend to anyone and everyone. No financial surprises or making up the prices as you go. They have flat rates and present you with options and what will work best with your budget. They get it done, and get it done right. There arent enough good things to say about the honesty and integrity of this company and the employees.     Update on 7/8/2024:We were concerned about the condenser making a clicking noise before starting up. The technician came out and quickly worked on determining the problem. As usual, when you want the thing to act up in front of the tech, it doesnt. He checked the system and found that it was running fine and there were no problems. He also told us to call if anything did come up. As usual, Shafer was out and quickly put my mind at ease. That was the reason I purchased my system from Shafer and had them maintain it all these years!Update on 2/5/2024:Chris came out to do my heating system maintenance check. Everything came out great, and the system is in top condition. Chris was courteous and professional, and the check was completed in short order. I had Shafer install the new system and theyve been maintaining it ever since (going on eight years now), and Ive not been disappointed!

    Quick response time, early availability for AC unit not working. As usual technician arrived on time, was professional, yet friendly. He was thorough and efficient. He reviewed our options and was very patient. Always great service from this company!7/13/24A Great Experience! Again!Six days ago I called Shafer when my AC unit went out. The next day, Alex showed up on time, and patiently we reviewed options, including repairs vs replacement. Unfortunately I had two older systems, one in need of replacement, the other on its last leg for the last year or so. Pricing was reasonable, and with their easy financing process I was able to get both units replaced. Today, six days later both new units are installed and running beautifully. Augie and Will arrived on time each day (one day for each unit), took their time explaining the process, answered all my questions and began working immediately. The installations were done quickly, although with apparent great care, and attention to detail. Both men were professional, neat, and friendly. No mess, no fuss!I’ve been using Shafer for the last 6 years, they never disappoint. They keep their word, provide no pressure options, and get the work done!

    Shafer Services were quick to respond and get me on the schedule for a check on my water heater. The water heater is 14 years old so I was pretty sure we were going to replace it. The guy that came to service the water heater called ahead and let me know he was running ahead of schedule. I wasn’t quite ready so he waited and showed up at the original agreed time.He was professional and knowledgeable. We discussed the option of repair vs replace and I decided to replace. I’ve been assured that they can come within the next 2 days to replace the old unit. I have no reason to doubt it but will update this post if anything falls through.

    Ishmael is a true professional. I had purchased a new commode, water line, and all necessary supplies to replace the existing commode.     Very impressed , service like this doesnt exist anymore! We had no hot water at our home and it being the thanksgiving holiday the part needed to repair water heater would not be in until 1-2 weeks, but plumber John Beron still came out and said he wanted to fix the problem temporarily so that me and my family could have hot water during the thanksgiving holiday!     After deciding that it was time to replace the 17 year old air conditioning/heating system in our home, I went to the BBB website and picked out six companies (based on their ratings, customer reviews, and customer complaints). I prepared a detailed request for quote and sent it to each of these six companies. The first to respond was Shafer Services Plus. They were also the first to send someone to our home. Two of the companies did not respond. One company responded late, after I had already decided to hire Shafer Services. Two other companies sent people out and gave me quotes. The gentleman Shafer Services sent out (Mike D.) was very knowledgeable, and, honestly was head and shoulders above the other two gentlemen that came out from the other companies. The others were nice, and professional, but it was obvious to my wife and I they did not have the combination of experience and eye for detail that Mike from Shafer Services did. After considering three quotes, we decided on Shafer Services. It was an easy decision...their price was very competitive, and they were the only company that addressed each and every one of my concerns. Equipment installation was top notch!15 July 19 update: Ryan was our technician today for an annual maintenance check. He discovered an issue with the refrigerant dryer/filter. Left unchecked this could cause expensive issues over time. Very thorough and professional. Additionally, the dryer/filter will be replaced later today. Great customer service!I called Shafer services and they diagnosed the compressor as the issue with my AC system.     I needed a whole home plumbing inspection for a new construction home I planned on closing in the next week, so I hired Shafer Services Plus to do it. The inspection was done today on 04/26/22 by Tyler. Even though I couldn’t be there in person for the inspection because of work, I am glad I still scheduled the inspection for today. Tyler was amazing and was extremely thorough. He updated me on what he found during the inspection and really helped me understand and learn what his findings were and what that meant for me as a homeowner. From the phone conversation alone, it felt like I really had a personal advocate in this whole home buying process , and that I was making an informed decision. I wish all contractors and technicians had his level of professionalism and level of motivation. When I did ask a few questions, he really took the effort and time to answer them without brushing the question aside. Finding good contractors and skilled tradesman is difficult, so I am more than happy to have had Tyler do my plumbing inspection. I will be requesting him for any plumbing services in the future. I hope Shafer Services Plus recognize him for his quality work and professionalism.     Long story short, I highly recommend Shafer Services for your plumbing needs both big and small. This review relates to a big one.This Spring, some leaks were detected under our 60-year-old home that required a full replacement of the drainage system under the house. This was a massive project that called for the installation of a two-way cleanout drain, excavation of under-house tunnels totaling 46 ft, the removal and replacement of the existing cast iron pipe system with PVC and refilling the under-house cavities with the previously excavated materials.I was dreading the project, beside having gotten a jaw-dropping estimate and extremely invasive scope of work from the first leak detection company sent by our home insurer, a neighbor had had a similar project in mid-stream which had come to a standstill two months before with a mound of dirt and concrete pipes sitting on the front lawn with very little activity each day.When I called Shafer Services, which has been my plumbing and HVAC company for over 10 years, John came out to evaluate the situation, run some tests, and start setting up a game plan, the first of which was to get another leak detection test to confirm the earlier results. While I thought this might be a duplication of effort and expense, the first companys report contained an obvious error and was somewhat incomplete because two-way cleanup drains were not required 60 years ago, and the pressure tests and video required for an accurate evaluation could not be accomplished. Shafer sent out T.C. Carey who did an excellent job in pinpointing all our leaks and confirming that the best option was to replace the drains. John followed up, developed a work plan that was much less invasive and resulted in a better price than the first company. The work began as scheduled and was completed 3 weeks and 1 day after its beginning during some of the hottest days weve had this summer. It would have been done in around two weeks were it not for the Memorial Day holiday, a rain delay, and several days wait time for City and engineering inspection schedules.Every single Shafer representative was personable, professional, and worked extremely hard on this project despite the crazy heat, and I want to thank them all:The plumbing crew members were John, Nick, Louie, Sean, Chris, and Tyler. The excavation team was Gustavo, Axel, Tino and Willie. Shafers office support were Marisa [the information and scheduling angel] and Cara who helped guide me through financing; and last but not least, T.C. Carey and Alex Perales who defined the problems and gave a clearer view of the action necessary .

    AB arrived to fix the water draining from our AC system through a pipe fixture onto our patio. The actual fix will be more complicated because of the age of the pipe under a sink where much of the water drains. After many years, that drain is likely not flowing very well and pretty corroded. We will fix that soon. Meanwhile, AB flushed out the drain and it will take care of the issue temporarily (this was a day of service call, so we appreciated the quick response and service). AB is very professional and explained everything very well. He’s a great representative for Shafer.Our experience with Shafer Services, and Franc Ochoa in particular, was excellent. Franc was terrific, and he worked incredibly hard every single day on our sewer line problem, which turned out to be a huge problem. Franc worked with Robert Robert Lang every day and they kept me apprised of all the issues. Franc was very helpful with all of the issues that came up with the plumbing.     We had a major duct replacement by Shafer Services performed which became an even bigger project since we opted to also have the attic insulation removed and replaced. We knew for some time that our 30 year old duct system was in bad shape but the scope of the project and costs delayed our decision to move ahead with our decision to replace. Very simple, this company has been the most professional, the most detailed, and knowledgeable of all. I was concerned about the costs and they offered a payment plan. I was worried about the dust and debris generated and I encountered a very understanding team who protected my home and generated very little dust. I had concerns of my schedule and they totally accommodated and adapted to my needs. Their level of accuracy to provide a comfortable home environment beginning with the measurements of the square footage of my home, taking particle samples before and after the installation is complete to optimize airflow and equalize air distribution to every part of my home. To top it off, the courtesy I experienced of every member of the team was above one would expect. I am especially impressed with the allergy system we opted to have installed as I am an allergy sufferer and needed something to help me ease my symptoms. My team consisted of Robert, Steve, Augie, Greg, Adan, and Sandra! I do want to express my sincere appreciation to Augie as he is a very thorough installer whose dedication to perfection makes him a true asset to the Shafer company and most definitely the customer! Money well invested!

    Chris and Shawn came to help me with our leak detection system, Phyn. The Phyn has been more than frustrating ( not installed by Shaffer). Chris and Shawn were knowledgable, kind and very informative. Laid on their backs in our front yard and eaten by mosquitos. Great guys and great service. Will use them again!

    Definitely will be going elsewhere next time. I have done business with them before - high menu pricing and I did most of the hard part. This time I called them because mothers AC wasnt cooling. Off the bat, $8900+ to replace the condensing unit. Had a friend of a friend come by to check it out who wasnt even sure how the previous guy diagnosed anything because the capacitor needed to be replaced. In the end, yes it needed to be replaced but a huge price difference between $8900 and $3800.

    Day 20 of 100+ degrees weather in San Antonio; one of my AC units is not cooling as it should; I call SSP to ask that one of their technicians come to the house and do the needful. Given hot & humid weather, the time of the year, and what must be many many daily calls for help they probably get I was expecting to be given a day maybe sometime next week. Instead, Nathan said he could have someone at the house in one or two hours!! Eric showed up, spent a lot of time in the hot attic and hot outside working on the unit -- and then staying on to make sure it was operating properly -- and left me with a cool home. Who would have thought I could get same day service at this time of the year -- not me?! But thats what Shafer Services can do. Bravo..

    My service tech was very professional, and open about the services that they were going to provide for me today. My service tech changed out my filters and brought down the used ones to dispose of into the trashcan. My service tech provided me with cost estimates for further repairs. Along with the cost estimates, my service tech provided a rational explanation as to why these services were necessary. Overall, my service tech was not pushy about the sale of new installations. When service techs are pushy about installations and other services; those actions are a big turn off for future use. The professionalism conducted by the service technicians is greatly appreciated.

    Robert did a great job with the annual plumbing check. He noticed a safety valve on the water heater was leaking and the unit was rusted. He showed my wife the problem and agreed it was time to replace the water heater. Robert was able to replace it on the same day which was great. My wife said they were very quite and quickly got the work done. Their work was excellent and Shafer Services technicians are always friendly and courteous and great at their job.Louisa was able to schedule the plumbing check on the day my wife had off from work.     Very impressed with the timeliness and professionalism of this company. From the first phone call to the quick response time, I knew I had found the right company to repair our broken pipe. Their phone operator, Melanie was very kind and sympathetic when I was somewhat frantic to find a plumber. The water coming out of the side of our house was a virtual fountain. She quickly contacted a member of her team to get to the house as quickly as possible.Our plumber, Ismael Partida was exceptional.     Hayden Holloway and a helper came for an annual service contract plumbing check & to fix a shower faucet problem I had. Were on time. Checked all sinks, faucets, showers and the hot water heater for proper operation & no leaks. Cleaned or replaced aerators and replaced 28-y-o Moen shower valve. Did the work quickly and efficiently. Were happy.Update -- its a couple of years later. A small amount of water was leaking out of weep holes under kitchen. Ismael came and diagnosed the problem, then a day later came out with a helper to find the leak and repair it. They found a very small leak in a copper pipe feeding the kitchen sink and replaced that section of pipe (the good news is it wasnt in the slab). They worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up well. Im pleased. Cost was reasonable and about the same as other plumbers would have charged.

    Received a call early Monday morning from Shafer Services advised me they had a technician available to come out this morning. Technician arrived and I told him what problem I was having. He was very friendly and professional. Advised me what he was going to do and the cost, which was very reasonable. My line was unclogged within about 15 minutes. Ryan ran the washer and ran water into the kitchen sinks four times and no water backed up into the sink and no water over flow from the washer drain. Ryan also was very informative on how I could maintain a clear drain. Ryan also informed me that their company offers a yearly maintenance program which we are interested in purchasing.     We experienced a plumbing problem on a Saturday, and contacted Shafer Services without any prior knowledge of the company. Our request was handled promptly, and a plumber, Jay Peche, dispatched to our home.     We’ve had 2 very good experiences and 2 not so great experiences, but the Shafer staff is very responsive and quick to get us scheduled. The first time we called on Shafer they came out and explained everything to a T. Our issue was resolved. After installing a whole new a/c system (from another company), that system started dripping from the secondary drain. We decided to have Shafer come out, but this time the guy showed up at the wrong time, did not have the specific bulb we asked for when scheduling our appt, and cleaned out our drains, supposedly being the thing that would stop the secondary drain drip…which it did not! We had to call back to set up another appt to get our UV bulb replaced… and to hopefully stop the dripping once and for all. They sent the same guy, but I was still ready to give him the benefit of the doubt. He did not explain much to me, but he did come with the right bulb this time. Alas…a week later STILL DRIPPING. And even more. I called AGAIN and requested another technician come out. They sent AB who was very thorough and he explained things to us and showed us pictures of what he was talking about. The drip stopped since he left the house an hour ago. We are hopeful!

He and his partner were courteous, professional and finished quickly, cleaning up after themselves and leaving my home cool and comfortable.EDIT: After contractors damaged a component of my brand new, week old Trane system, JW came amazingly fast and fixed the issue in 15 minutes, getting our system back to cooling our home. He was friendly and courteous and made the repair quickly. I cannot express how happy I am with the service Shafer has thus far provided.     Water pressure regulator was leaked. The technician came the next day, which I was a little disappointed but I understood they already tried adding us to the schedule. The price and how to fix was clearly clarified. After these two fixing experience, I start to trust this company. Therefore I decide to hire them for my HVac maintenance.Technician is excellent. Patient to explain and teach me how to use the softener. The reception desk is really good, too. Only complaint is about the product. The softener works, but the screen doesn’t display information properly, which made me a little nervous. In the end, what made me really happy is that they didn’t try to hide or ignore it. They honestly told me the problem and replaced the chipboard the next day. I prefer honest and quality service to a discount (personal opinion).

    Excellent end to end experience. We had our 4-ton split die and Booth came in and spent hours getting everything sized up. Within 48 hours we had a new AC/Furnace installed. Steve, Augie and Chase were excellent installers. Walked us through everything. The installation was smooth and everything was cleaned up perfectly. Based on previous vendors, Shafer is top notch. I always say: you always get what you pay for. While Shafer may seem premium compared to some others - it is for a reason. I would not hesitate to get them again since I know it will be done 100% right. In fact we are going todo the second unit shortly with Shafer as well. Recommended!

    We had busted frozen pipe since Monday. We called a different place but finally gave up on them and called Shafer on Friday morning. We had used Shafer previously for our hot water heater installation. Left a message with the receptionist at 8:30am Friday. Got a call back at 11:20am saying they were in the area and since the person they were trying to contact never responded, they could swing by my house. John B. stopped by and fixed the pipe that our insurance adjusted pointed out. John B. investigated more thoroughly and found a second pipe that the insurance adjusted missed. He fixed everything within a few hours and we finally have water again! So happy for the quick service and thoroughness of John B. He was polite, professional and we are grateful he spotted the second pipe that was previously missed. We definitely make sure to always call Shafer first for all our plumbing needs.

The staff at the Shafer Services branch on the other hand, are closer to a 2 star. They really need to learn how to communicate with their customers. I had to call them 3 times in a week to find out what was going on with appointment times and what was going to be replaced and when. Was very frustrating.

    I had a great experience with Franc and Shafer Services. I was originally planning just to have a system flush, but my water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced. Franc was honest and straightforward. He was able to replace the water heater within an hour or so for a good price and even ensured the fixtures were in proper working order.Paying for plumbing work gives me anxiety, especially work I don’t really understand.     We purchased a fire table chat set for our new deck and had a natural gas line installed by another recommended plumber. The set, purchased from Costco, was supposed to come with conversion components to natural gas, however there were no instructions, a single brass fitting and as a result the plumber would not connect the unit. Our options were to return the set and go about looking for another one, or trying to find to find someone that could connect the unit. We found Shafer through Home Advisor and called to see if they could help us - along came Ismael and Shaun. The guys looked at the unit and the manual and were not certain how to proceed, however Ismael took a picture of the manual page with customer service information, and pictures of the existing connections (for propane) and said he would call the supplier (Sunvilla) when their service department opened and get back to us. True to his word he called back, advised that speaking to the supplier revealed that they were unable to help - he did not get any useful information. However he did say that they had figured out how to proceed, gave me the price and came back the following day with the parts needed - we now have a working fire pit.I cannot say enough about Ismael and Shaun - they are extremely great representatives for Shafer - and I would definitely recommend the company based on the quality of the people that they employ.I would not hesitate recommending Shafer Services.

    Our upstairs A/C (where all of our kiddos sleep) went out late Saturday night (after 104 degree weather all day). I called numerous A/C repair companies to get someone to come out ASAP and none of them were either A) Friendly B) Never returned my call or C) Didnt care about my problem. That is until I was able to speak with Jimmy Shafer. I called their emergency number and he returned my call within 15 minutes. He was very friendly, understood my desire to get it fixed and even spent a few minutes with me on the phone to see if there were any other easy things to try before they potentially sent someone out. He said he would call me back first thing in the AM to schedule a technician to come out.Sure enough around 8am, I got a call and a technician was at my door about an hour later (I believe it was Charlie). He was extremely friendly and was good with my 3 year old son who wanted to watch and help. We had it fixed within 30 minutes.I cant say enough how much service means to me and how great it is to experience it first hand when everyone else I talked to didnt care (in fact when I called the company who installed the unit, they told me oh, its a second unit, yeah thats not an emergency, we wont come out until Tuesday ). I was flabbergasted by that response, and I guess if you dont want my money, thats perfectly fine.Shafer will be the company I call from this point forward. Fanatical service at its finest.
