Generally I don’t write reviews —— who has the time?! But I had to take a minute to say wow! This company must have some of the best employees in MA. They are the most knowledgeable, professional, polite and kind people I have been serviced by. Leonidas and his partner (both equally amazing) took the time to fix my heating issue in no time. I had 3 other companies come by abd they couldn’t figure out the problem. These guys found the issue within seconds of waking in. I am so impressed! Thank you and bravo for you.

My boiler annual physical went very well. I got an email the day before confirming the appointment and a call the following morning telling me approximately when the technician would be arriving. He arrived on time and was very pleasant and professional. After completing the boiler check-up, the technician told me the status of the boiler and what he did. It needed water, and he explained how those gauges worked, with photos, and what to be aware of. I signed the receipt, and off he went. The technician was clear and helpful.

The pilot light on my gas boiler had gone out. Tried re-lighting it, but it would not stay lit. Called GEM and spoke with a pleasant young woman who said a technician would be there between 5:45 and 9:45 pm. She called at 8:00 to let me know technician was running late and offered to have someone come first thing in the morning. She called again at 7:16 this morning to tell me I would be the first stop for the technician, in about an hour.At 8:15, Harrison and David arrived. They were very cordial and put me at ease immediately. Two hours later, after they had determined the problem, replaced a part, and cleaned and serviced the boiler, I had heat! Harrison explained in detail what they had done and provided about 16 images of the boiler at various stages of the process. I joined the membership program, which provided significant savings for this visit. All was fine until a couple of days later when I detected smell of gas in basement. Called RI Energy and they detected the source of the odor when they removed the door to my boiler. A tube installed as part of the repair had not been tightened sufficiently. Once it was tightened the odor of gas was gone

Wonderful service! We had a new system installed by Gem and we are very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of their team. Everyone from the customer service representatives to the plumbers and electricians were pleasant and thorough. They gave us a walk through after completion which we appreciated. Our new boiler system is amazing. I highly recommend this company!

My boiler stopped working on a Saturday and they came right out. They got it working, but it was just a quick fix. Because it was so old, I needed it to be replaced. They were very courteous, and helped me finance it. It was installed the next day Extremely satisfied with the entire process!

We called Gem and they were able to get someone out within a few hours. Not only did they resolve our issue the technician was very informative and courteous. This is our first time using your services. Our forced hot air handler stopped working last night and the temperatures were below freezing. We called Jim Saturday morning. Got their emergency service dispatcher who was fantastic and a technician arrived by 1 o’clock to service our controller. Harrison and Dave were extremely professional and knowledgeable and took the time to explain what our options are with our extremely old system. They even removed the remains of two bats that had died in our crawl space. Wonderful service. And we will definitely use them to replace our equipment and most likely sign up for a maintenance agreement. Thank you!

I just had a great experience during my Fall furnace tune-up. The service tech kept me informed as he completed the work. He not only did a great job, but he continually cleaned up after himself. At the end he briefed me on the call, asked for, and answered, my questions, and made recommendations. He took pictures as he worked showing inside of furnace, and included them with the invoice. I believe his name was Dave. Please send him again next year.

Scheduled for a tune up on my boiler, they did that. When I told them it kicked on but wasnt producing heat in the house they did a thorough check and let me know what was wrong. The young men Chris and Joseph were very knowledgeable, straight forward and very nice. They went out to get the parts needed and came back to do it the same day, I am very pleased with the service. I had to step out to pick up my daughter at school and when they were in my basement I trusted them. They closed the door, locked up and then called me to let me know they were done and that everything was all set. I came home and turned on my heat to check it and it works. THANK YOU CHRIS AND JOSEPH. YOU BOTH ARE AMAZING!

Gem Plumbing did a deep clean today of our mini-split system. I had noticed it wasn’t working efficiently lately. I didn’t realize how dirty the unit had become over 5 years. We had just been cleaning the filters regularly. They have quite an operation for the deep clean. They do a thorough cleaning process and it makes no mess in your home with the equipment they use. It is running great now. The tech Douglas recommended that we have it deep cleaned every 3 years. I highly recommend Gem Plumbing for all your HVAC needs.

We called Gem for a service call on 12/23/24, which had been one of many during the last three years. At that time it was indicated that continuing repairs to our existing unit would not be cost effective. We opted for a new one. On 12/27/24 we had a whole house mini split heat & air conditioning unit installed. Four technicians arrived. They arrived about 8:30 am and the job was completed by 8:30 pm. That included all of the electrical hookups. The technicians were polite, neat, fast & knowledgeable. Alecs Reyes was the team leader. Caio Mayer, Lydell Pina & Jaydin Steidel were the team members. The electrical team consisted of Chen Chen & Pablo. A shout out to them all. We are 100% satisfied......

All the actions of the emergency response team to the followup repair tech and repair team were top notch. My only criticism would be with communication within the customer support center. The internal communication among the scheduling center, the customer, the repair tech and repair crew seem to be uncoordinated. This is known by the techs and teams but it seems to have no solution. My work is complete but I hope it gets better for the next customer.As to the work and service charges...it was well done and the charges were more than fair.

I had an outstanding experience with our recent HVAC specialist from GEM. Initially hesitant to use their services again, this technician completely changed my mind. Not only did he resolve our issue, but he also took the time to educate us about the problem and the tankless water heater unit itself—something previous technicians hadn’t done when they installed it. He provided valuable insights on preventative care and the units future life expectancy. I now feel confident in choosing GEM again, especially with this technician on there staff.

This was my first experience with GEM. I am so impressed with my new outside AC unit. It is super quiet and very easy to operate. They put a sensor in the bedroom to regulate the temperature difference so it will always be comfortable. From the Salesperson, Ryan, to the technicians, Kevin and Ethan I would recommend them to anyone needing a new heating or ac system. Great team work from everyone.P.S. They had a Supervisor at my home to make sure everything was going well. Can’t find that in a lot of companies. 😊

While people say GEM is expensive, I find it very comparable to others. The service is amazing! I have had multiple techs come out for different things and I have nothing bad to say about any. The fact that they will come emergently if needed is fantastic. Telling a mom of six that they can come out to fix the washer in 10 days is enough to bring me to tears. I love GEM and will continue to use them whenever possible the costs equal out to the service and timing!!

I have been having an issue with our mini split installed by GEM and over the past year or so they had a cpl of folks come out abd look at it byt could t find the problem. Just recently a mechanic came out who was the most professional, detailed orientated individual I had met and he found the problem and fixed it. It turned out there was a coolant leak on a fitting. The individual gave us reports and explained step by step what they were doing and looking for. The individual that came to my house recently should be considered for a bonus with the professionalism, focused details and fixing the problem that multiple other folks could not.

Nate came out first thing in the morning to help with my clogged sewer main. He was very professional and kind. He explained everything with no difficulty and offered multiple cost-tiered options. Mainly whether we would utilize a camera in the process of snaking the main. I appreciated being offered the option. We went with the camera process. So we could fully diagnose the issue, and determine if this would be a recurring problem.We found roots growing in an old, 2-foot, cast-iron section of my main drainage pipe.He used a blade attachment and cleared the obstruction to the best of his ability. Then left me with a quote to have the 2-foot section of cast iron replaced with PVC—which is only a small section that penetrated the foundation of my home.I was very happy with the service, and most importantly the transparent approach which allowed me to make informed decisions.Nate’s customer service skills were out of this world. I advise GEM Plumbing to invest in this young man.

The serviceman who came (Orlando) was wonderful. He worked with me to find a creative solution to my problem, was courteous and clearly very skilled. The job required out of the box thinking which he participated in without hesitancy. His work was stellar.I do need to mention though that this could have gone very differently. My problem was with a gas smell coming from my gas on gas stove. While I directly asked if these were part of Gem’s service line and the dispatcher scheduled the call, I learned from Orlando that Gem does not service appliances. This was most frustrating and nearly resulted in a bill for no reason. Thankfully he listened to my concern that the gas was leaking thru the shut off valve since it was in the off position and this was the case. The willingness to work together was greatly appreciated and I would certainly recommend Gem and Orlando to others. However, I would advise that more care be done by the dispatch line in listening to customers in order to avoid errors like the one we had to salvage. Thank you for your assistance.

The sent the wrong technician to look at my my Navien tankless water heater. Erik was great. He was sorry they dispatched a plumber instead of an HVAC tech. They said I would get a call when the tech was on its way between 12 and 5. It is know 530 and no call yet. It would be nice just to get some communication about when the tech will show up or that they got tied up with another call an cant make it. I appreciate them getting me on the schedule on a Sunday especially since we are not their customer.Update: They did show up by 730 pm and assess that I could either replace the heat exchange or replace the whole hot water system. Both were expensive options. They noticed that the piping and exhaust were not up to code which was crazy since it was installed in a brand new house in 2020. We had to think about it overnight. We had our HVAC company com out and they said the same thing about the pipes and exhaust. They couldnt help us. We decided to install a new tankless water. I couldnt have the Navien fixed and have piece of mind that it wouldnt happen again. So we went with Gem to install a new water heater. We decided on Tuesday morning and they had it installed by Wednesday afternoon. They were professional and courteous. The install looks great. It nice having hot water again. We appreciate GEM for the help and definitely recommend them.

We originally were expecting GEM to arrive within a 4 hour window last Saturday by 1:30 but no one showed. I called GRM and was told your Tech would come when he finished a job he was at. He never showed so I wasted all Saturday waiting. Next we were told your Techcwould come Monday ( today) btwn 8am-Noon. Jonathan arrived at 1:30pm. We needed him to install our new Gas Oven and a new Dishwasher. I was shocked when he quoted me a price of $880.00. That was more that the dishwasher cost us! We let him start and 3 hours later the job was finished. We had bought our appliances at Home Drpot who had agreed to both deliver AND INDTALL our appliances but when they arrived they said they couldn’t install! Then GEM were WAY MORE expensive than we ever imagined. Can you adjust this cost down for us? We figured on a installation fee of $500.00 not $880.00! Please?! We paid Cumberland Kitchen & Bath $50,000. To remodel our kitchen and then this bomb hit when we thought we were home free!

The person I had spoke with at the time measured the pipe incorrectly three times, and also said it would require a special tool to cut the pipe, which would tack on another $100 to the original quote.With Mark and Dave at GEM, they not only measured everything correctly on the first try, they were able to take the section of pipe out without cutting anything because it was threaded. It was all done in about an hour, and the pricing was very fair. Id like to add that they were all super kind and professional, and the service manager, Ron, even kept in contact to make sure everything went smoothly.Thanks for the great work, gentlemen! 😁

We called GEM after discovering a water leak from the 5 ton, 15 year old air handler in our attic which had previously been serviced by another company. We called GEM on August 5th and they promptly dispatched a service team to fix it. Xavier Vance called to let me know they were on their way and I found that the software used by GEM allowed me to track their team “Uber style”. Xavier and his assistant, Tony were friendly and obviously competent. They found that a drain servicing the secondary condensate pan had caused water to back up into the pan which was rusted and had a hole in it. Xavier explained that the secondary condensate pan was to protect the home from water damage caused by condensation, but that the air handler shouldn’t produce enough condensation to rust out the pan. They constructed an improved drain from the primary pan so we could use the system (it was 94 degrees out) until the secondary condensate pan could be replaced.We considered the cost of replacing the secondary condensate pan on the 15 year old air conditioning system and decided to replace the system with a modern heat pump. We called GEM and the next day GEM Comfort Advisor Jonathan Cunningham did a thorough analysis of our home and determined the old 5 ton air handler had been “sweating” excessively because the existing duct work was only adequate to service a 4 ton unit. He took the time to carefully calculate that a 4 ton heat pump would be adequate to replace the old 5 ton air conditioning equipment, recommended a heat pump to do the job and quoted the cost then and there. We agreed to proceed with the replacement equipment. Only two days later, Alecs Reyes and his crew, of Marcus, Roger & Aiden arrived to replace the old equipment with the new. The first thing that impressed me was the telephone call from Alecs alerting me that they were about 30 minutes from arriving. The job of removing the outside compressor and the 5 ton air handler located in in the attic took 2 consecutive days. Alecs and Marcus as well as the other guys working on the project were friendly, efficient and took the necessary precautions to protect the house and clean up after the job each day. On the second day the Gem electricians arrived on time and were also friendly, efficient and got the job done. With the installation completed Alecs and Marcus removed all the tools and equipment used in the installation, cleaned up and vacuumed. With the new heat pump turned on, Alecs went around the house and determined that each of the supply ducts was functioning properly. He then helped me commission the Ecobee thermostat and guided me through the various features and settings of the Ecobee apps. I frankly expected that the job of removing the old equipment and replacing it with the new would be a nightmare but GEM sold me the correct new system on a Tuesday and had it installed by Friday afternoon with no hiccups or delays. The team led by Alecs Reyes and Marcus and the GEM electricians were friendly, kept me informed and did a great job.

Ryan (salesperson) was super helpful. To minimize headroom problems in my low-ceiling basement, equipment and ducting locations had to be carefully planned. Dan (the duct layout expert) was very easy to work with as we laid out the system in the basement and the register locations on the first floor. The job had its challenges b/c my house was built in 1780, but Dan and I figured it out. The installers (Omar & Reacher) were also nice to work with. I cut in the registers and routered the wood plank flooring so theyd sit flush w/ the floor. This took a lot of coordination with the installers and it all went very well. This was a challenging job and there were very few hickups. They did well and Im glad that theyll be here in a few months to replace our upstairs HVAC system as well.
