    On 11/29/2023 my husband and I had a plumbing emergency. We needed to turn off the main water supply to our house. We could not locate the water valve outside, as the water ran in the upstairs bathroom. We called several 24/7 plumbers in the area that was advertised as such. Then we called Durham Plumbing Services. We called at 9:35pm and he returned our call at 9:36pm. The professional walked us through the process of shutting off the water valve, after helping us locate it outside. He assured us several times that he would stay on the phone with us until the process was completed. In the future, if we need anything, Durham Plumbing Services is at the top of the list!     Great experience with Durham Plumbing Services. We had them replace our hot water heater which was in our crawl space. They responded immediately to our phone call and replaced the hot water heater the next day. Two workers worked extremely hard in and out of the rain until the hot water heater was replaced. Their price and communication was great and so was the quality of their work.     We had a great experience with Durham Plumbing services! Michael was communicative, helpful and took the time to fix our houses’ plumbing issues and put the date and time in to give us honest recommendations on what he’d do if it was his house, and if he were in our shoes. We felt the price quote and cost was accurate for the amount of work involved. (Can’t day the same about another quote we got from a different plumber.) Definitely will hire Michael and DPS again if something comes up!

    Could not recommend this company more! We needed a hot water heater replaced as well as a leak fixed and the quote we received from Michael was the best we received by far.     We replaced several toilets and Michael did a great job assembling and installing them. He was polite, responsive and he quickly and professionally installed them. Additionally we called him a couple of weeks later for a shower faucet issue. He came over and quickly diagnosed the issue and replaced the Moen valve with a new one. When we have other plumbing work arise Michael will be the one we call, we highly recommend him.

    I waited a while to write this review to ensure that the toilets Michael and his assistant installed were functional. Needless to say, Michael went above and beyond for me. He has a brilliant mind and it is evident that he is very passionate about his work and customer satisfaction. I needed two toilets installed and a faucet. He showed me two quality toilets that he would recommend I choose from. When I went with the more expensive toilet he did the job for less $$$. He would have charged me a little more if I had went with a cheaper toilet. Either way I would have been spending the same amount no matter which option I chose. I went with the more expensive toilet. Despite the fact that he would have made more if I would have chosen the cheaper toilet, he highly recommended for me to get the best quality one. I value honesty and that is what Michael gave me. He also fixed a chandelier that was hanging to low and in my way (out of courtesy to me). I almost forgot, I had gotten some AC work done and was not confident in their work until Michael took a trip to my attic and assured me at no cost that it looked like they had done a great job. I trusted his advice and it saved me from calling the AC company back to work on the problem a fourth time. I will certainly save Michaels card in my book of handy men. Thank you Michael!

    Excellent service! Our garbage disposal hadnt been working well for several months and led to a leak under the sink. Andrew quickly identified and fixed the issue for a very fair price. No more leak and the garbage disposal works like new! Theyll definitely be our first call if we need any plumbing work done in the future.

    Durham Plumbing Service did a great job! Suspected I had a leak and was able to get an appointment for the next day. Good news is there was no active leak but since he was already here, Michael replaced my garden tub faucet cartridge and installed a new bathroom faucet in less than an hour. Good price, great company, would call them again.

    I had a drainage leak in my kitchen and it was the main pipe. I called Durham Plumbing Service and Mike answered he is really cool. I was worried about being stuck with a service charge before they came. He allowed me to send him video pictures to at least give me an estimate first. Yes, I was grateful for this because it saved me money.Kevin called 30 minutes prior to coming this was great because I like advanced notice instead of sitting around waiting. He was on time when he arrived and got to work. He explained my issue and boy was my pipe clogged. He repaired the leak and I was happy. He cleaned up after himself made sure there was not leaks. I paid via card and the coolest thing was they have the new technology for cards with chips.I really appreciate honest and professional work.I told him that Durham Plumbing services are stuck with me for LIFE!! LMBO, because didnt even know that Mike was the owner until Kevin gave me the card.For the people that read this post I can honestly say I trust them doing plumbing services in my house and not get ripped off financially.     Short Review: I hate being a landlord, but I love Durham Plumbing Services.Long Review: 2 weeks after renting out our house for the first time, we had a major plumbing issue and were told by a different plumber we needed to have a cleanout installed to clear the blockage. The original plumber couldnt seem to give me a quote on the work they recommended despite calling them several times, so a friend recommended I called Durham Plumbing Services. They gave me a quote over the phone, scheduled me for the next day, and took care of it. Great to work with and great communication (especially considering I had to handle all this from across the country).

    My experiences with Durham Plumbing Services have been wonderful. A person answers the phone (rather than a message service), plumbers arrive on time and are courteous and well-informed, and they actually clean up before leaving. DPS replaced all drainage pipes in my house and provided routine plumbing services as well. On their last visit, the plumbers assured me I did not (yet) need a new water heater. I appreciate that they did not pressure me to buy something I dont need right now. I highly recommend DPS.

    I own a house in Durham, and the water heater went out unexpectedly (we never expect it to go out, do we?). Durham Plumbing Services made a next day appointment even though I called at 4:30 in the afternoon, arrived at the appointed time, did all the work quickly and were very friendly.And their price was even less than I was expecting for all the work they had to do to fix my water heater.I have had other plumbers try to scam me in the past but Durham Plumbing was straight up and to the point: you need Y and Z done to fix the issue, and it will cost you $X. They didnt try to sell me more than I needed, and they didnt try to tell me that I needed everything replaced. I had even called two other plumbers before calling Durham Plumbing: one said he was too busy, and the other didnt even call me back. Dont waste your time ... if you have a plumbing issue, call Durham Plumbing services and they will do what you need for a reasonable price.

    Facing a serious and very unpleasant problem requiring the replacement of three sewer pipes and a big crawl space cleanup, the plumber I had made an appointment with had a family issue and had to leave Durham. I had saved the name of Durham Plumbing Services and its owner, Michael Clough, from a neighborhood list serve email. I called him at 9:45am and he said he could come between 3pm and 6pm that day. He arrived a few minutes after 3p. Working under horrific conditions in the crawl space, he acquired his materials and completed the work -- along with installing a new kitchen faucet along with a failed joint, fixed another faucet, trouble-shooted another faucet and my jacuzzi (turned out neither needed real repairs but better care on my part) and cleaned up everything -- all by 7:15pm. Job cost me ~$150 less than I was estimating in my head. Micheal is a high-energy, very pleasant fellow, and hes now my plumber for life.

    Last year I had some plumbing work done and after a few months, I realized that the work that had been done was poor quality, and it didnt fix the problem. A week or so ago, I decided to try and find a new plumber. I asked everyone in our neighborhood who they used, and they all said to call Mike at Durham Plumbing Services - everyone I spoke to said great things about his service and his prices. I called Mike last week on a Wednesday and he said that he could come out any time. He came out on a Saturday to diagnose my problem, gave me an estimate, and as of yesterday, the work was done and everything looks and works great.Mike is professional, timely, and he answered all of my questions. He also guarantees his work, which is something that made me feel great about using his services. He let me know that if something stopped working, or in my case, if the pipes continued to rattle and squeak, he said hed come back and fix it at no extra charge.Im very pleased with his work, and Ill absolutely use his services again in the future.

    Michael came out and repaired our burst water main several years ago and was a life saver! Since then, he has done a great job replacing the pipes and faucet in our kitchen.     DPS pick up the phone when you call and reply promptly to texts. They came the next day to replace our water heater, and the new one is a great improvement. They were careful getting into a tight spot, working around some other new appliances. Maybe not as smooth at customer relations as another plumber who gave us an estimate, but significantly better value.

    We had an after hours issue with a cracked fitting running from our well line to the pump. I called around to numerous other businesses and could not get someone out after 5pm on a Friday.     Michael answered my call, opposed to an answering service and waiting for a call back. Upon hearing that my water was cut off due to a water heater leak in the crawl space, he was able to move some non emergency calls around and scheduled me for the next day. He showed up on time, he billed me the exact amount that he quoted, and I was up and running with a tankless water heater when he left. He was not the first plumber I called, but moving forward I will be calling Durham Plumbing Services first.

I called in the late morning, and by early afternoon, Mike had come by, helped me assess the problem, offered a number of solutions (one of which included potentially giving me the part I needed and offering advice on doing it myself if I chose), and agreed to return that night to finish the job.     Im a big believer in local, independent businesses.As such, Ive used Durham Plumbing Services twice over the past two years. The first time was to replace an ancient water heater in the house that we purchased. This most recent visit was to perform preventative maintenance and to address a minor issue with that water heater. All in all it was a great experience both visits as they offer top notch customer service with no up-selling or scheduling delays.So, when youre looking for a local, independent plumber then I highly recommend Durham Plumbing Services.

    Please try Michael Clough with Durham Plumbing Services. I had what started as a drip from my kitchen faucet. I wont go through all of the agonizing details but after having 2 other licensed plumbers from an established plumbing company, the drip was gone but I had no water pressure coming from the faucet.I was told that I needed a new faucet and additional work for $480. Thank goodness, I called Michael instead. In just a few minutes, he found the problem with my faucet. Half of a broken washer had been left in the faucet. I didnt need a new faucet at all! and I also didnt need the additional work they said that I needed. What I had was working well and met code requirements. The previous plumbers either didnt know what they were doing. Or, more likely, they were just trying to upsell me. That translates to selling me something I didnt need at all.Working with Michael was a pleasure and he solved my problem quickly and he is honest and not trying to sell more than you need. How nice to find an honest plumber! And none of the plumbers in his company are paid on commission so they have no reason to upsell.After this experience, I wont use anyone else!

    Fast and easy quote to replace a water heater. They gave a quote over the phone after reviewing some pictures and came out promptly to replace the leaking heater. They were friendly and even indulged my 3-year-old who performed with various musical instruments during their repair.     Great experience. Basically received a service reminder in the mail to potentially have my water heater in my attic flushed. The guy from another service (Not Durham Plumbing services) came by and said that I MUST replace my water heater. It was 11 years old, had some water in the pan. Then proceeded to state that to be able to get a water heater in my attic, the newer ones were bigger, and that it would cost, with the use of an outside contractor [as the attic doorway was too small], about 2600-2700 to get a basic tank water heater up into my attic. Then proceeded to say it would be easier to just use a tankless, for the price of almost $3500. Decided to think about it.Called another service, who basically gave me the same run-around, except to state that it would cost 4500 for a couple smaller water heaters in the attic to make up for size, 4900 to put one in my garage, and over 5,000 for a tankless. Good lord.Then I hear about Durham Plumbing services from a friend, call Michael up at about 8 am. Immediately tells me that since its just my wife and me, that we definitely do not require a tankless. Then said, despite the need to resize my attic door, he could replace my water heater, unit, labor, AND resizing the doorway to fit the new heater, all for about $1500. WOW. Guess those other folks were trying to rip me off. Tells me someone will come by between 10 and 1 pm, and I get a call at 1015, someone is there by 1030.The folks a Durham Plumbing services then proceed to tell me, that my water heater doesnt need replacement, rather, show me where the problem is, and fix it [a leaky valve], for about $175 ($100 for the service call, $75 for parts and labor). May be a bit pricey for just a valve change, but they were really honest, did quick work, and have saved me literally thousands.They finish, and Michael gives me a call to see how the service was.     Durham Plumbing met all of our expectations and more! Not only was Micheal extremely professional but he was also very nice and we immediately felt at ease with him. We even had to leave our house for a few hours while he was working and we felt completely comfortable leaving a key with him.We called him on a Tuesday and had several problems (non emergency). He came out that evening and went over all of our issues with us and walked us through what was going on and what he needed to do and the costs.     Edited - The owner of the company contacted me to apologize and to explain that some of his plumbers are comfortable with masking and some are not and that my request was not assigned correctly. The owner stressed that they as a company are very willing to work with customers masking preferences and sent out a plumber the very next day (who was understanding about our situation and wore a mask as requested) to assess our broken hot water heater and provide estimates for replacement. I appreciated this personal response to my original review and clarification of the companys policies.Original 1 star review below.Immuno-compromised household. Plumber was very responsive on the phone to my masking request but once at my home, where he was asked to please wear a mask he indicated that the company was past all that and that he would not do the work and immediately left without discussing our situation further. Be advised that if your household is still requiring masks for health reasons during covid, this company will not work with you.

    We called them at 1:30 in the morning, slightly frantic because we could hear a pipe draining water into our wall. They were incredibly polite and accommodating. I had shut off the water so they didnt need to show up until the morning. I received a call at 7:30 am letting me know they were on their way, and by 8am there were here and listening to our problem.Both men who came were incredibly polite and very knowledgeable. They worked quickly to fix our initial problem, and looked at and fixed several other spots in our house. They were very good at answering any and all questions my husband and I had for them during their work. They worked quickly and efficiently and we ultimately found their prices incredibly affordable.I will definitely call them again for any future plumbing needs we have, as well as recommend them to any friends who are in need of plumbing services.

    Over the past few years I have had a few traumatic events at my (new to me) house. Stolen copper pipes the day I moved in, a flood from a toilet on the first year, and several other smaller evnets. At all those times I never felt like the price was unreasonable and I always felt like Mike the owner cared and was sympathetic to my situation, as well as, took time to explain my options. If I dont trust a service provider I will not call them back. I trust Mike and his crew, they are my plumbers for life.

    We didnt use Durham Plumbing Services, but heres why Im giving them 5 stars.We had a company come out yesterday to repair our gas fireplace. As they were nearing the end of the repair and doing a final check, their gas leak detector indicated a small leak that appeared to be around the shutoff valve.We had them shut off the main gas valve outside and I started making calls to see about getting a plumber out last night to take a look (yes, licensed plumbers work on gas pipes. Who knew lol).The first company I called was Durham Plumbing Services. They didnt pick up, but then right after I hung up I got a text from someone (I never caught your name. Sorry!) telling me he was in a noisy area and asked how he could help.I explained what was going on and that we had shut off the main valve outside. He said they wouldnt be able to make it out that night but could come out first thing tomorrow. He then proceeded to tell me wed probably get charged $650-$750 for an emergency dispatch, so then we decided we could freeze for one night and save that money lol He then gave me a rough idea of what they might charge.He then went on to let me know he had some electric heaters we could come pick up if we needed them! We had a space heater, so we declined the offer, but its great to see a company go above and beyond. Well definitely give them a ring next time we need any plumbing work done.

    On a Saturday night around 8pm, I called Durham Plumbing Services and spoke to Michael, the owner. He was extremely knowledgeable and was actually able to troubleshoot over the phone with me. He saved me a plumbing visit by identifying the correct part I needed to pick up at a hardware store to get me through the replacement of an old chrome nipple, toilet valve line, and angle valve.I hooked everything up, turned the main water supply line back on, and afforded my wife and kids the opportunity for a bath before bed at 9:30pm!!!!

    They are the best! I am so thankful that I stubbled upon Michael Clough and his team 3 years ago under a stressful situation (busted pipe middle of winter while I was pregnant w our second child and had a 2 year old).They came out, even though everyone else was booked and said it would be several days. Michael came out twice that day. Once to quickly check out the situation between other calls and promise to make it back before the days end and he did. He came back late that night to make sure that our family would be able to have water. Even better he didnt charge us an arm and a leg (like most plumbers would have in the situation).He is honest and hard working and so are the people that work for him. Everyone I have met has the same work ethic. Their company is not some big flashy business thats gonna try and screw you over like so many out there today.     We woke up Tuesday morning to no water and called Durham Plumbing services, they came out that day and diagnosed the problem as a bad well pump and stayed late past dark to replace it and we had water that night.
