The pros: He was on time, polite and repaired a loose piece in my heating system.The con: He mentioned that he did not wash my outside unit because I live across from the beach and that the water would attract more salt. I explained this didn’t make sense because it was the opposite of what I had heard in the past so he said he could wash it if I wanted. I declined, thinking he was the expert. I have since researched it and every article says yes, you should wash off the salt. I’m going to rinse it myself.

We had a water heater failure with leaking, so we were totally without any water overnight. Smoak responded quickly to my call the following morning and had aservice truck here within a couple of hours. Although expensive as such work always is nowadays, the job was done carefully and successfully, and Im very happy with the results.

The install crew (Sly, Quinten and Jacob) that came was professional and kind and a pleasure to meet. Quinten specifically showing me how to set up the thermostat to my phone and just in general was knowledgeable, patient and kind. I would highly recommend Smoaks to anyone in need of hvac or plumbing services, and already have to our management company which now has Smoaks on our list to call in the event anything at our home is in need of their services. Based on the positive experience of a work colleague, we chose Smoak to replace our aging HVAC unit. Great experience all the way around - from initial contact, in-home consultation and product recommendations to installation, billing and follow up. They took care of everything, even applying for a Dominion Energy rebate and providing separate paperwork for our 2024 tax filing. A new HVAC system is a significant investment and there are a lot of options out there. Were glad we chose Smoak and will recommend them to others.

Honest company! I have my 14y/o unit maintained by Smoaks. I had a maintenance preformed a week previous to my unit going down. When you are enrolled in the maintenance program you get 1st dibs on emergency services. The technician came out and discovered it was a bad capacitor, the wire was loose and the connection burned as a result. He said it was probably a technician error from the previous service. He could have just not told me I never would have known. I was flabbergasted! A company that is honest! A company that provides good service at a fair price!Absolutely love these guys! I will be buying a new system from them in the near future!

I recently had my main floor HVAC replaced. The job was done well and tidily. Sadly, things didn’t seem to be working quite right 😕. Chad to the rescue, seems the smart thermostats were defective and an electrically controlled damper (placed by another company) was incorrectly wired. All problems were corrected in a day and now all is well! Yippee!

We’ve been using Smoak’s since we moved to downtown Charleston 5 years ago. We signed up with a yearly maintenance contract and they serviced our old HVAC system thoroughly twice a year, keeping everything in tip-top shape.We decided to modernize our cellar in our circa 1802 home. As part of that project, we decided to have our old HVAC system removed and replaced with a modern energy efficient Trane System. We knew Smoak’s would do a great job, but even so, we got several estimates and Smoak’s gave us a very competitive price.Jay Browder was very thorough in his explanations and advice for our particular home. He listened closely to our needs and questions, and we really put him to the test! From start to finish, the installation teams were professional, knowledgeable, courteous, punctual, neat and clean and very respectful of our home.Last, but certainly not least, Karen, in the office, did a terrific job ordering, scheduling the demo and installations, which enabled us to integrate the HVAC project with the renovation project. Our Trane System is easy to use and running beautifully!In conclusion, we highly recommend Smoak’s Comfort Control.

The experience was one of dealing with a true group of Professionals. The scheduling was quick and easy. I was kept informed on the timing and I received a call that the Technitian was on the way. The window that they gave us was dead on.The Technician was knowledgeable and able to diagnose the problem with our unit quickly. He explained the issue in terms I could understand. After a thorough inspection, he told me that our issue was a simple filter problem. We were using very expensive filters and they were restricting the airflow. We were given a number of options to this issue including buying cheaper filters. What could have been an expensive and unnecessary repair was limited to the simple service call.Were going to sign up for a maintenance agreement ASAP. Its good to find an honest, knowledgeable, professional to trust with our comfort. I would recommend Smoaks to anyone who needs service.A GREAT EXPERIENCE!

He quickly fixed one toilet and called suppliers to try to find replacement parts for the other toilet. He explained all options that I can take to either try to repair the toilet or purchase a better-known replacement. He also provided written estimates for each option. Our HVAC system recently died, and being without heat in December is simply not an option. We called Smoaks and they were extremely quick to respond. The unit was old....really old...but the service team was extremely fair with their assessment, giving us all of the options including repair vs. replacement. We decided to replace the unit and within a few days we were moving forward. The entire install took one day, and we had heat again that evening! We were extremely satisfied with everyone on the team, and although HVAC units are not inexpensive, they were certainly fair. We now have a unit we trust and a team we know we can call on if we need them.

Smoaks did a fantastic job sorting out a difficult problem with my ductwork. They ultimately replaced the whole duct system and gave my old AC unit new life!
