Full renovation of a duplex downtown Charleston included new HVAC systems for the two floors. We opted for Daiken. The install went pretty smooth compared to my other contractors. They were neat and finished the job rapidly working in the heat of the attic as well as the din of the crawlspace.The system however has not been without issues. We had a slow leak in one of the lines and then the system went down due to excessive humidity in the crawlspace flooding the overflow pan. The upstairs unit has trouble maintaining temperature but I have some leaky windows and no attic insulation which may be the cause. We shall see when that gets remedied.Holy City service has been pretty.good though, addressing issues as they arise. They are usually very quick to respond and did not leave until problem was repaired. I feel confident that they will continue to support the system as it ages. I have not tested the heat portion of the unit yet, but not too worried about that.The digital thermostat and app is nice, I can set the temp remotely as if I was standing in front of the display. It also has some diagnostics that I set up to connect to Holy City so they can monitor the system performance remotely.Lost a star due to issues, otherwise would have been 5.

We were super pleased with our experience with Holy City and especially Anthony! Anthony was professional, kind and most importantly did a fantastic job with our new water heater. He had to come back a few times to finish the job, worked until dark and had a positive attitude everytime we saw him. I cannot say enough about Holy City and the entire team. We live in Round O which is an hour from Charleston and when I called because we had no hot water at 6:30pm a technician arrived and cured our problem within 10 minutes.Anthony although working call shift was smiling and as happy as he could be. I recommend this company to everyone I know. Stellar performance and attitudes always. Finally a company that actually cares about their clients. It shows through because this company not only cares about customers, but their employees. Everytime a tech is here they sing the praises of their employer. That is the secret to success. I called Holy City Heating & Air and requested an inspection of my natural gas meter and piping to prepare my house for sale. Anthony, a plumbing technician, came out the very next day right on time as scheduled and talked me through the inspection and suggested a few minor modifications to ensure the system is safe. He then provided a reasonable quote for the modifications and asked me to call to schedule the work. Excellent experience from start to finish! Requested an estimate for replacing a water heater, and within 2 hours they were here and provided an estimate that was $400 less than a competitor. In addition, they were able to come the same afternoon and remove and install a new water heater. I am a happy customer…and you will be too if you call them!

These guys were great. I previously had another large company come out last year and “fix” the issue with my furnace, as well as sell me on some plan which was basically aggressively pushing sales down my throat to the point I was almost in tears when they left from being intensely “sold” to, so I clearly didn’t want to use that company again. I found holy city and they were able to come out the next day and while they did come at the end of the window, they stayed for hours to truly make sure the issue was fixed, and tested it and it kept hitting the same issue, they had a manager come out and test as well and make sure, then they ran through rough price of repair and next steps, as well as ensuring they were able to complete repair in my tight window of time the next day. Another gentleman came out right away in the morning with the correct part and I haven’t had a single issue since. They were honest, up front, did let me know that there are some things that could use replacing (it is an old house and old unit), but not in a sales way, just a hey- these are some things you could do. They were very kind and so considerate of my home, time, and me. I never felt like I was being suffocated by sales tactics and the price point didn’t seem outlandish to me. I have a few other things that need some work and I definitely think I’ll be utilizing holy city again.

This all started with a review of our issues by Amanda Edwards, the Project Manager and Tom Harvey, the owner(and James Island Native). Who the heck has fun replacing an HVAC System and ductwork plus converting from a 2 system unit to a 1 unit system 2 days before Christmas? We did! The skill and knowledge shared with us on the best options, questions being answered, conversations had for complete and full understanding was bar none. Plan made and in rolls Troy and his crew of amazing talented technicians communicating and flowing to remove the old, elevate and stabilize the new and insure ALL parts and pieces were running smoothly in 24 hrs! Job done in 1 DAY!! New HVAC & New Ductwork! Polish and shined on day 2. Snug and Warm before Christmas! We live in an old JI ranch that survived HUGO. We won’t let just anyone work on updates here. I feel like all you hear about repair and maintenance services are horror stories, so I wanted to take a minute and say that Holy City Heating and Air are the complete opposite! We were leaving town on a 2 week trip when one of our thermostats just went blank. It was definitely after five when I sent a text to the number on the website and to my surprise the responses were quick and the appointment was booked for the next day. They were communicative when the service person was on his way to the house and he did an incredible job. We didn’t realize the air wasn’t working the way it should. They even reached out after to thank us for our business and offered us a yearly maintenance plan that is honestly a heck of a deal. This is our first house and no one tells you about all the things you need to schedule for maintenance every year, including AC units. Aubrie in particular was great with my questions about the maintenance plan! I can’t recommend them enough!

I received a message at 9pm on a Thursday night-from Holy City saying they picked up a problem in my HVAC system before it even showed up on my Smart Thermostat. I received a call from Tom Harvey, the owner, to discuss what to do. It seemed like a simple fix so he sent a technician to my house right away. It was almost 10 pm & pouring rain when Mark arrived . It was a simple clog in the drain line which Mark corrected in a matter of minutes so we did not have to spend the night in discomfort. I don’t think any other company would be this diligent. Top notch customer service at the highest level. I am so happy we chose Holy City when we put in our new unit. A great install & incredible backup service.

I had Holy City install a new Daikin system just under two years ago in a house we had just purchased. I went for the 17 SEER for a little more efficiency without breaking the bank and it has a 12 year warranty. They came out quickly and completed the install in a day. The first summer was great, it works really well and I love the ability to set custom schedules for any day of the week. However, this summer we had a little trouble.First, one of the blades on the condenser fan broke off and the condenser had high vibrations. I called Holy City around noon on a Friday and they had it fixed before dinner. No charge. A couple of months later the AC stopped working without an error code. I called them at 11 am and it was fixed by 7 pm. No charge.Then a couple of weeks later, on a Friday afternoon about 4 pm right after Tropical Storm Debby, the thermostat reported a Fan Error Failure. I called Holy City and they got me on the schedule for Saturday. Temperature on Saturday reached 93 and the technician, after working in Folly Beach, came to my house in Goose Creek at 8 pm. He troubleshot the issue until he found the problem with the fan control board around 11 pm. All day on Monday I stayed in contact with Deidra and Katie about the status of the part. Later in the afternoon after my fourth time talking with them the part was sourced and a technician scheduled to arrive once finished with a job downtown. In the end the control board was replaced by 8 pm and the AC was working again. No charge.Things break, sometimes sooner than we expect them to. The warranty that comes with the Daikin coupled with the dedication that Holy City has to their customers makes those unexpected issues less worrisome. Even as busy as they are Holy City has shown time and again that my concerns are theirs and work hard fix issues quickly. They have been amazing.

Ive dealt with a lot of HVAC companies between Mississippi, Norfolk, and now South Carolina, and Holy City Heating & Air was one of the best Ive dealt with. Didnt try to sell me on stuff I didnt need, gave me realistic prices (even if they were higher than I wanted to hear), and were personable from setting up the appointment to the actual tech arriving at my house. I cannot recommend them enough.Update August 2024: so I recently discovered that my new unit is doing its job SUPER well -- which is great! -- but that means because I have to keep it set at a very low temp for health reasons, my system began to sweat and I had a build up of mildew in my HVAC closet. I called Holy City to have someone come out to check everything (especially since I discovered it while SC was getting hit by Tropical Storm Debby). They sent Josh Morley out to check everything out and he went above and beyond. Checked the inside unit, the exterior, went on a full adventure in my attic and determined it was a mixture of me having the temp so low and SC being hot and humid beyond reason.As before when I upgraded my HVAC unit in June, he didnt try to sell me on a fix, merely gave me available *affordable* options and his own professional recommendation when I asked. I chose to get an addition added to help purify the air in my system that would also mitigate mildew build up and sweating of my ductwork. He came out last night to install it and was just as professional and honest and personable. When I move outta state, I am going to lament losing this company as an option for all of my HVAC needs. I truly cannot recommend them enough. Everyone Ive dealt with from the top down is knowledgeable, trustworthy, and a real joy to engage with.If youre in South Carolina and need an HVAC company? Pick this one. You wont regret it.

The guys did a good job and worked very hard at manipulating the 7/8 copper. They had to re-think some of the installation and they did. However when I paid for their service, a tip request came up b4 payment. That put us in an uncomfortable position. Im not apose to tipping and not that they didnt earn it but this tipping thing is out of control. I worked all of my life in the trades and tipping was unheard of in those trades and it was pretty much understood that tipping was reserved for low hourly wage workers that performed a personal service and the amount of the tip was based on how good and personable the service was.I was actually prepared to tip them each with some cash but the tip page came up and we were embarrassed into tipping them 10% thats a $190.00 tip and when I asked him if he sees that tip the answer was Im not sure, I guess its in my check.Then I thought well why did I tip them?If I had given them cash they would have known that they got a tip and it wouldnt have upset us.I just wish that the tip page never came up.The guys did good work but you might think about the tip page.

Had to call them out for a follow up on a leaking kitchen sink drain that was part of a renovation last year. James called me only twenty minutes after calling the office to report my issue (was given a three hour window, he shattered that!). Professional, prompt, and thorough are the three traits that come to mind. He even offered to take a look at our other fixtures to make sure that “Murphy’s Law” didn’t strike as soon as he left. An aging toilet that one day we will get around to replacing was all he found. When that times comes, James and HC Heating & Air will get the call. Thanks y’all!!

It’s been awhile since I’ve worked with a company with as much integrity as Holy City Heating and Air. My new HVAC system that they installed had issues (beyond their control) but Holy City kept at it until everything was fixed. They didn’t try to shift blame, obfuscate, or anything else. They simply owned the problems and made them right. In this day and age that seems like a rare and special thing. I highly recommend these guys.

I have worked with Holy City on 2 different properties. One of them needed 2 new units. Tom was amazing. We were on a tight timeline and he made everything happen seamlessly. The units were affordable and came with excellent warranties. The crew that installed were all fantastic. They were kind and professional and supper knowledgeable. Pat was the crew leader and he did a great job. 2 old units out and 2 new ones in, all in a day. He walked me through everything and made sure I understood the thermostat after a very long day. Super patient.Today Mark came out and serviced the unit in a different house. Again very impressed. He was on time, professional, kind and knowledgeable. I have signed up for the family and friends service plan. I couldnt be happier. Thanks Tom and and crew!

Our a/c went out last night and it’s going to be a warm day plus I have a sick elderly dog and I was concerned about the house getting too warm. So I called Holy City and explained my situation and they worked with me to get someone out as soon as possible which I greatly appreciated! In fact, they came out just an hour after my call, wow! Also, upon assessment of my system, it turns out that it was only a blow fuse — cost $140 to repair! They did see signs of something else going on with our unit, but upon further assessment determined that what they saw was from a past issue and there are no indications of anything else that needs repair at present. That was wonderful news :) Thank you Holy City — I will be calling you again!!!

I had Holy City install a whole home dehumidifier a little over a year ago. They were slightly more expensive than the competition but they didnt just slap a humidifier in and call it a day. Tom gave it some thought and designed a system that would work best for my home. Their service since then has been nothing less than exceptional!You can tell a lot about a company by the moral of the employees. Every technician and helper that has been to my house has had a very positive attitude and seem to genuinely appreciate their boss and take pride in the company.Highly recommend!!!

I highly recommend this company! We replaced our entire system (including ductwork, etc.) and are very pleased with how everything turned out. We received 6 quotes and opinions on how to address our humidity issue and I will note they are priced a little higher than competitors but it is absolutely worth the professionalism and thoroughness that comes with that. We would chose them again without hesitation. We had an existing whole house dehumidifier they were able to incorporate into our new system. Its been a couple months and everything is doing exceptionally well and stood the test of the brutal summer conditions.

Our heat pump went out on Christmas Eve because of the cold weather. We called the original installer, because our house is only 3 years old. Did not receive a call-back. In the meantime, we called Holy City on the evening of the 26th, and they were out the very next day (today) and got our problem fixed. Gideon was our technician and he was so very nice and professional. We are thrilled with the timely service, especially on a holiday week, and our problem is fixed. Brandon Mathewes at Holy City Heating & Air - Yes, please!On time, very pleasant and respectful in my home. We chatted briefly and he has years of experience and is caring and precise. I had a new Bosch heat pump installed earlier this year and this was my first scheduled heat pump check-up before winter. Brandon is proud of his work and his company (which is refreshing to see). I live on James Island and like that the owner grew up on James Island. Brandon also lives on James Island. Nice to do business with local people and local businesses.
