We had a leaky fridge & D&R was the only company we could get same day, which for a leak is best case! Richard was extremely kind & tried to solve the issue without replacing parts (I assume to save us money), but needed to replace in the end. He gave us some advice on refrigerator maintenance & made sure the problem was completely resolved before he left. We appreciate their 23.5 hour available service & efficient labor. We will definitely contact them in the future!

I called Richard at 8am on Monday morning because I was having issues with my main sewer line a week after I already had someone out. He reassured me over the phone he’d be there and everything was going to be okay. He stayed in touch and was out that afternoon. I was told by the other company that my line was collapsed. He ran the camera and told me what issues he was finding and reassured me it’s not collapsed. He even showed me on the screen. His sense of humor through it all in order to keep me stress free was great! He then made sure my toilet was good to go when the other company a week earlier didn’t do that. He gave me ways to get by for a while until I can get the yard dug up and the pipe fixed. He was truly awesome and I’m very happy I called him! He’s my go to plumber from now on! I highly recommend D&R, especially Richard!

Helpful staff, knowledgeable on new and old building codes. Fast and friendly. On Friday I set appointment up online that was super easy to do he came over and fixed my sink and I got estimates on getting things fixed around the home. Richard with D&R Plumbing went above and beyond helping me with a flooded bathroom when I called on a Saturday. He explained he was unable to come out today and was honest that being a weekend, there would be an additional charge for overtime if he did. He was very helpful and referred me to another company who was able to come out and assist. Richard took the time to talk to me about what the problem sounded like to him and what I could expect and should be aware of when I talked to the other company, including what his charge would likely be so I could compare the costs. He educated me about the potential problems and possible solutions. Since I have relatively little knowledge about plumbing, I felt much more confident discussing the issues and understanding my options when talking with the plumber who did come out. He made an emergency situation on a weekend much easier to deal with. I will definitely call D&R when needed in the future.

I recently purchased a home and moved in a week ago. After a few days, one of my toilets began spilling water out of the base upon flushing and the water shutoff to the toilet leaked in the off position. I purchased a home warranty with the home so, I initiated that process. D & R took the job. This has been my first exposure to D & R Plumbing. I made the plumbing claim one evening and the next morning D & R called. I spoke with Rich and quickly it was evident that he was a customer advocate in the sometimes sketchy world of “home warranties”. He explained the process of getting things approved with the warranty company. He was insistent on doing what was right and everything that was needed to actually fix the problem vs. what was suggested minimum by the warranty companies. My warranty company is good and approved his recommendations. We were able to quickly schedule an appointment for service. He came on a Sunday morning. He quickly and efficiently diagnosed the problem. He was respectful of me and my home. He even let me watch and ask questions. The repair was completed quickly. He cleaned up after himself and was on his way. Rich was very friendly and I will definitely recommend his services to anyone asking for a good plumber. They are a small family business that care about their customers and the quality of their work. It’s good to know that there are businesses like his still out there.

Upon further investigation, it ended up being a less costly issue causing the toilet leak. They took care of it completely and cleaned up afterward so well! Im rating D&R with 5 stars. I live 15 miles from bloomington and my water heater stopped working. I called Richard early on a Saturday morning fully expecting to wait until Monday for service. I had purchased a new water heater already planning on installing it myself however when the time came i did not have the time to do it. Richard and Shawn showed up by noon, had the old one out and the new one installed in no time. They also disposed of my old one for me. They were fast, friendly and efficient. They cleaned up and told me not to hesitate to call if anything happens or if i needed anything else. I was impressed with how professional and informative they were. My 50 gallon hot water heater went out on Friday afternoon got ahold of Richard, got to me that night, patiently dealt with me not buying the correct replacement unit, ended up having to leave and wait for me to get the right one the next day. He came back the Saturday before Easter very punctual to the time he told me he could, charged the lower end of the standard labor to put one in. I try to be a good person myself and can identify other good people and this little family business took good care of my little family. Thank you.

Two days before Christmas and with knowledge that I would have a full house for Christmas day, the only toilet on the main floor was plugged. I called around to find someone who could take care of me immediately. Most were willing but couldnt give me an approximate time of arrival, AND had high trip charges AND no guarantee that they could fix the problem. I get it, they dont know what theyre facing until they arrive. I called D&R, and they said that they could take care of me that day, there was NO TRIP CHARGE, only charges for the services performed and they carried all supplies necessary in their truck. They kept me informed of their progress on prior jobs so that I could still run my errands and be at home for their arrival. They were prompt to fix the problem, they gave me a cell phone number to call if the fix didnt work and they would return AT NO CHARGE to keep working to find a solution. Whatever they did worked, no need to call, and no problems on Christmas day!!! From here on out, needless to say, Im a huge fan of D&R. They are a family owned business that understands taking care of your needs. Thank you D&R!

Had to call for emergency service on a Saturday evening to fix a home repair gone wrong (if youve seen their commercial regarding a shower faucet in a bathroom...thats what happened to me). Received a prompt return phone call after leaving a message and Richard showed up to my house quickly. Richard was very friendly and professional, despite having to be there on a Saturday evening. I cant comment price wise how they compare to other plumbers, but what I can say is that Richard tried to make the RIGHT repair. Not the easiest, cheapest, expensive, etc., but tried to do the work the right way. This ended up taking a little longer, but was best cosmetically for my bathroom. We had an Oh Crap moment with a sewage backup and he (and his team) were quick to fix the issue.There was a minor issue with a drain being missed and Richard was good to offer quick advice on a quick fix...saving me a few hundred dollars.If you are unsatisfied or have an issue, let them know and they will take care of the issue or find a way to make it right.

UPDATE: 6/27/2017: I am not able to post another review so i am editing this one...I had to call D&R again due to an electrical issue...I had 2 wires that got wet and started to pop and smoke..I called Rich again and he sent Shawn out IMMEDIATELY! Shawn repaired the wires and explained what happened. I am soooo grateful for the fast response and the care they took at my home. Without Rich and his technician i believe we wouldve had a fire that couldve been life threatening. i know that D&R does a lot for the community including the play area at the mall and participating in other charities. Nice guys but ask about price before they come out or even begin diagnosis of the whatever problem you have. If I wasnt in such a tight situation at that moment, I would have had them stop after I found out the cost to run a snake down a vent pipe and drop a smoke bomb/peppermint test. $450 later nothing was fixed. I was just told what to replace and given some pointers. I appreciate the information but what happened is no different than having a mechanic charge you $100 to look at your vehicle, check the oil level, and tell you that you should change the oil but render no other services. I would have been happy to compensate them for their time but $450 was a very steep donation for the information that was shared with me. Im very disappointed with the end result. Lesson learned.Edit: Richard gave me a call and was incredibly professional in resolving this situation. We found a compromise that worked for the both of us. He genuinely cares for his customers and I would not hesitate to reach out to him for any of my future plumbing needs.

Friday February 5th, 2021 was about the worst day Ive had in 10 years. I spent about 6-8 hours trying to get solder to take hold on a shut off valve, so we can turn on the water. It is now 6:30 PM and we have no water and I start panicking. I begin calling every Plumber I can find who are 24 hour service. I finally reached Richard at D&R Plumbing. He was so nice and said he would be right out to help me. He was showed up here in 20 minutes and quickly put a shark-bite cap on the pipe and we were saved!!! I could not believe we had finally found a plumber in Bloomington/Normal who kept their promise, did a great job and charged me 1/2 of what I was quoted from other plumbers. My wife and I have a Plumber for life. Ive already told Richard that we have a bunch of plumbing we need done later this year. People of Bloomington/Normal, believe me when I say this guy is good, very polite and nice and does a great job. I tried, for the first time ever, to fix an issue with the only toilet in my home after buying a complete kit of what I thought would be compatible parts at Lowes. After getting the tank completely disassembled, I realized something was different about the flapper. That is when my wife told me to get a professional to help. I first called William Masters in the early 10PM hour but their on call person was not pleasant to say the least. I then called D&R. I told Richard of the experience I just had with their competitor. He then informed me of the cost after I described what was going but he also informed me he was in Peoria at the time and would be over an hour before he could get to us. Getting anxious and panicked, I didnt think we could wait that long, so I told him I that and I would try other plumbers. He then told me if all else fails to call him back and he would try to get out to me and to leave a message if he didnt answer. After several other either not calling back or telling me that they cant get to it until morning, I called Richard back. He called back as quick as he could and I told him nobody else could help. He was able to get to my home, took a look at the situation. He pointed out I was correct about the flapper and should have gone with the name brand on the toilet. He got the toilet operational with the new parts that would work along with the old flapper. He then told me what all I need to replace to have the toilet working 100 percent. As he was finishing and in different words he told me he was confident in my ability to complete the project based only on what he see that I done and how I was talking about it. That boosted my confidence. With this experience I have learned multiple things. Dont doubt my own ability and if I ever attempt my own plumbing again start earlier in the day so any number of the D&R staff can be available when I admit defeat and need help.

Few weeks back the drain to my washing machine was clogged and overflowing onto floor. Set up an appointment and I think it was only a week or so and they were prompt, arriving within 15 minutes of quoted time, were quick, clean, friendly and fixed my problem and Ive had no issues since. Since they guaranteed the work, I wanted to wait a few weeks to make sure everything was smooth and indeed it was and is, so I will continue to use and recommend them and in fact have another small project for them.

My water heater when it quit working so based on reviews I called up D&R. They took one look with the panel on and said the pilot light is out. Must be wind. They re-lit my pilot light, said if it happens again I need a thermo coupler, but it was probably just the wind. Then stated that will be $150. All of 5 minutes of their time.Once they left, within 10-15 minutes, the pilot light was out again. I called my buddy and he came over after work. We took the panel off the water heater, took the heating pan out and it was so dirty it wouldnt stay lit due to rust falling from the tank and enabling the pilot light/thermo coupler to work. We cleaned it good with a vacuum, and it works now with no problem. Before you think this is negative, please........READ ON....Now with reading that, you might wonder why 5 stars? and not 1 star? Well, Richard the owner called me and made it right. He was very helpful, very professional, listen to the issue and went as far as making things right on the bill. He said he would use this as a learning tool to educate his guys, appreciated my time, business, and honest feedback. Would I use this company again...YES!! Especially after a call making it right. Would I recommend D&R...YES!!! Very professional and did the right thing. Not about money, about service and this was stressed by Richard. Very much appreciated. Stand up Company!! More companies should take note!

D&R and their technician, Shawn, fixed a leaky air conditioner by diagnosing that the coils in the furnace were touching the rear wall and causing water to run down the insulation instead of in the drip pan. So the bill was just a 1 hour service call to diagnose and slide the coils forward slightly. They couldve easily taken advantage of the situation and turned it into something a lot more expensive and unnecessary. I am new to the Bloomington/Normal area and didnt know who to call. After reading online reviews and checking them out on the Better Business Bureau, I decided to try D&R. Im glad I did.
