    Tyler H. with Gene Johnson plumbing installed a new hot water heater for me in our condominium in the Kirkland area. He did an excellent job quoting the work, looking for discounts, and providing multiple quotes with various options. We got the 50 Gal 4500W electric Bradley White with new supply lines and new expansion tank and new earthquake strapping and city permitting. This came to about $3,000 with tax, but we added a mixing valve for a total of $4136. It took Tyler about 3+ hours to remove the old tank, install and test new tank. It looks like professional work and Tyler is a super nice guy working hard and communicating well. Gene Johnson does an excellent job of scheduling and communicating. It’s one of those things where I didn’t like the price, even though I had gotten four different quotes, but I very much like the completed work and suspect I’ll soon forget how much it cost.

    Judge Kacalek was FABULOUS as he provided excellent service in replacing my hot water heater. He made sure I understood everything that was done and that the billing was correct. Very friendly, enjoyed having him come back to do the replacement after having met him when he came to check things out.I also want to thank Noah Drake for his service in installing the appliance with Judge. He was thorough and informative and made sure all was done.They are both great representatives of Gene Johnson. Thank you!

    This project, redoing the kitchen drain line, is the second plumbing project in my home over the past few years completed by Gene Johnson Plumbing. The first was a complete repiping of the house and replacement of the main line joining my house to the city water line, a couple of years ago-I was busy and neglected to write a review. . . life on life’s terms.At any rate, this was the last of the plumbing needing to be replaced and I knew Gene Johnson was who I could rely on for quality work. My plumbing tech, Tyler Haapalainen, approached the job with the utmost professionalism and kindness as he explained the scope of need work to me. He did a stellar job.An additional job, hydrojetting the sludge in the main line leaving the house, was completed by Macario De Andrade. Another superior service experience with a Gene Johnson tech.This is a company I cannot speak highly enough of and as a homeowner in this economy I am grateful for the work and customer care they provide.

    I must say that I had a great experience with Daniel from Gene Johnson. He was available next day, was on time, courteous, and did a phenomenal job fixing our plumbing issues from replacing shutoff valve to the dishwasher that snapped off, replacing the old shutoff pvc valves and piping with copper pipe and metal ball valves and installing my new water heater. He stayed late until the job was complete. He is a true professional and an outstanding worker. I would definitely call them again to address any of my future plumbing needs.     Judge Kacalek from Gene Johnson Plumbing was exceptional. I contacted Gene Johnson Plumbing on Sunday and they were able to come look at our bathroom on Tuesday ……Christmas Eve. Judge knew exactly what needed to be done and had it all completed quickly. Any plumbing related issues I encounter in the future I’ll definitely call them.

    Today I had my water heater replaced by Chad and he did a great job! When he initially did the estimate he explained all of my options thoroughly. During installation he gave me the time to clean and paint the wall behind the water heater before the new one was installed. He answered all of my questions as he worked, and I had tons. Bonus- he was nice to my cats and we chatted about horror movies and heavy metal!

    We called Gene Johnson to resolve the main shutoff valve leaking problem. It was old and rusty. Noah Drake replaced the valve, pipes and the hose bib. He also added a PRV needed due to the high psi. Noah was respectful, professional and highly efficient! A lot of the times it is a hit and miss with the technicians. We were so lucky to have had Noah Drake resolve our plumbing issue and hope to have him back for future needs. Very impressed with his work and the way he works!

    These guys are the BEST...reliable, polite, extremely knowledgeable and communicative. My furnace stopped working on Thanksgiving morning which as a very cold day. I texted them Thanksgiving evening to advise. They sent their tech Joey over to assess. Joey was quite knowledgeable and even bought me a space heater before he left. The following morning they had a crew led by Josh Reed over here to start repairs. By noon that same day, they found the issue, repaired it, went over the process with me and cleaned up the area! The heat started working again and by late afternoon my dog and I were nice and warm. I am very thankful for these guy. They are well trained and they get the job done right. Great crew and great company!

After months of dealing with a sewer plumbing issue that multiple other companies tried (and failed) to fix--while giving us the runaround or recommending unnecessary full replacements--Derek Solberg came out and solved the issue in just half an hour with a straightforward, simple fix. He was incredibly knowledgeable and honest, and were so grateful for his expertise.We also had a general plumbing inspection done by Farris Al-Aboudy. Theyve been consistently organized, on time, up-front about costs, provided clear explanations, made effective repairs, and left our house in great shape. Most recently we used them to troubleshoot a supply line for our refrigerators icemaker that had stopped working. Derek Solberg was our tech, and he was knowledgable, patient, worked fast, and had a good sense of humor. Highly recommended.

    Branson Carr came to help us with a problem with our garbage disposal. He was extremely polite and respectful. He was neat and seemed motivated to keep our space clean. He efficiently diagnosed our problem and fixed it in no time. He was able to get in and out before the time allotted for the base fee expired, saving us money. He was pleasant to be around as well. All in all it was a very positive experience and we would definitely work with Branson and by extension, Gene Johnson Plumbing again. Thanks Branson and GJP.     Eric came by to do a regular service maintenance on my furnace. This is a new house to me so he carefully explained the features of my furnace and how I can properly clean and maintain the air filters myself.     Quality work. Fantastic people. Reasonable price. Easy 5 stars.I had water suddenly leaking into my home from what appeared to a break in our water main just outside of my foundation wall. I called Gene Johnson plumbing and they arranged for Tyler, a specialist in outdoor / main to home plumbing to come out within 24 hours. Tyler assessed the issue, and scheduled a repair to happen with a few days (and at a very reasonable estimate). He was very knowledgeable and his explanations gave me a ton of confidence in the proposed work / solution.On the day of the repair, Eugine, the technician, and Tyler, came out first thing in the morning to review the plan, and then Eugine went to work. I honestly cant say enough good things about Eugine. It was December in Seattle, so you can imagine that the conditions were truly awful. It was cold and pouring rain all day and Eugine had to dig through about 4 feet of rocks and dirt (mud, really) just to get to the broken pipe. Despite that, he worked quickly and communicated often to show me the issue and the make sure the repair met with my approval. He even offered to grab some hydraulic cement from his truck to seal the gap in the foundation wall where the water had been coming in. He took plenty of photos for records of carefully refilled the excavation area just as it was before.Eugine was absolutely fantastic. I appreciate the way he and Tyler took care of me. And I would gladly trust them with any plumbing work I might need in the future.

    We are very happy with Gene Johnson Plumbing. Shortly after our initial call, we got an email from the scheduler with an estimated time frame. Then another message with an earlier time. Once we accepted that, we could see the technician’s progress to our house. Then, when Alex came, he was very professional and quickly diagnosed the problem. He gave us several option for fixing the problem, including the respective costs. I can’t say enough about how great Alex was. He was polite and clear in his explanations.     Yesterday William, my technician, came and solved my Water 💦 Fall toilet 🚽 waterline disaster. I had water everywhere. He quickly assessed the issue.     Just had a great experience with Gene Johnson, they sent out a very personable plumber (Noah Drake) who did a great job scoping out all the problems in my houses plumbing, including many items that previous companies safety checks missed.     We were without heat due to the malfunctioning of a radiator and all the radiators being connected in series.Alex, was able to find a new radiator matching the model I wanted in a timely fashion (just 24 hours) and install it in a weekend!     I was very happy with the gas furnace maintenance performed by your technician, Daniel Dunham. Daniel was professional, efficient, polite, and accommodating. The location where he performed the work is a rental house I own, and both the tenant and I were there at the time.     Kevin Venarchick recently did the semi-annual maintenance on my heat pump and furnace. He discovered that the working fluid pressure in the heat pump was very low, indicating a system leak. He provided detailed estimates of the repair options for me to consider and explained the pros and cons of each. He was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job of explaining the options. I highly recommend Kevin for HVAC system maintenance jobs.

    Steven Long was quite easy to be with and didn’t mind me hanging out in the garage with him while he’s serviced our furnace. He was very informative and helped me identify the correct electrical breaker in the circuit breaker box for the furnace. He also adjusted the cover for the electrostatic air cleaner to make it easier to get on and off. He also advised us to keep our HVAC system off during our upcoming floor refinishing. He explained that all that dust will reduce the life of the fan.Thank you, Steven!

    Branson did an excellent job. He was on time, listened intently to the issues we had and reviewed each one to diagnose the problem. He explained the potential solutions and options for each one, including showing me how to fix one myself if I wanted. He ended up doing the fixes himself and was very diligent in getting them right. For a fix that required opening up the drywall, he made sure that the hole he created was the same dimensions as the available patch from Home Depot. He was very professional, pleasant and easy to deal with. Highly recommend him.

    So.... one week later, we decided to replace the wax toilet gasket suspected to be causing a wet spot on our tile in the powder room. We discussed this previously at a review but thought we could do it ourselves. Needless to say, it was more than that and we ended up calling for a plumber. We also inquired about a garage wet area near the shut-off, which turned out to be a leak. (Not sure why the leak was missed in our earlier review) Tyler came and solved both issues . Kaching! $$ Tyler did a great job and are glad to have these behind us.,...........Previous review: We are very pleased with the plumbing projects Judge did for us. Our annual inspection indicated some things that could be done. We did a few of those but requested additionally to lengthening our 2 outdoor faucets for easier access. Judge spent the extra time to accomplish and did a fine job! Much appreciated!

    Nathan and observer David arrived on time after notifying me of their schedule to complete a cleaning of my mini-split HVAC. While there was some confusion based on the scheduler and what would be included in the cleaning, both Nathan and David were very professional, friendly and thorough. I was pleased with their work and knowledge. I wasn’t pleased that the scheduler quoted me one figure and Nathan quoted me a substantially higher rate to do the thorough cleaning I had clearly asked for. Not the tech’s fault but something management needs to work on.

    I reached out to Gene Johnson regarding my radiant heating not working properly. They were able to come by within the next day to take a look. Tech Mike F was very knowledgeable and honest regarding next steps and questions my wife and I had. We proceeded to replace the Manifold and add a magnetic separator to my unit.     We needed a follow up on an issue with our kitchen sink. It was a separate issue from the last time we had Gene Johnson out and was not because of the previous visits.Andrew came out to unclog our new kitchen sink. The issue was due to the age of the system, so some build up that wasnt clearing. He was very thorough in his diagnosis, gave us several options, and we went with the one that seemed appropriate for our problem. He even went into the crawl space to double check the pipe set up, recorded his time down there on video and showed it to my wife and me. The clog was cleared and we FINALLY get to enjoy our new sink. Andrew was great and even gave us a comp bottle of pipe system cleaner more friendly to the environment than your off the shelf Drain-O brands. Highly recommend!!!

    In May 2023, Gene Johnson Plumbing (GJP) installed a Navien NPE-A, tankless, gas-powered water heater at my home in Shoreline, WA. The process was very smooth from start to finish, and I would highly recommend GJP for any residential plumbing project you may be considering.I didn’t realize this at the time, but Gene Johnson plumbing actually sponsors my buddie’s cycling team, Launchpad Cycling. I will continue to refer people and use GJP for my own plumbing needs for as long as they continue the same level of service I received this year.The quote process through GJP was excellent. A plumbing technician, Aaron, both provided me with a quote and performed the installation, ensuring a cohesive experience. Too many times in my experience contractors have had poor communication between the sales crew and the installation crew, resulting in unmet expectations. I had also gotten several quotes from other companies, and they all wanted to charge me a fee for the quote, but GJP did not. Also, GJP was willing to consider the discounts other companies gave me in order to give me a competitive price.GJP worked with me to help lower the total cost of the installation, and to ensure that the installation met my preferences and technical requirements. For example, I required them to use special hardware (hanger bolts and slotted strut channel) to mount the tankless heater in such a way that would not damage the vinyl siding on my home. Even though this deviated from their usual installation methods, they worked with me to ensure that the attention to detail informed by my Professional Civil Engineering background was satisfied. I can thankfully say that I am definitely satisfied with my new instant hot-water system installed by Gene Johnson Plumbing.

    On Wednesday afternoon I discovered water on my basement floor and saw water dripping from a pipe overhead. I checked my neighborhood Facebook page for plumber recommendations from neighbors, called Gene Johnson Plumbing and booked an appointment for the next day between noon and 5. René showed up at around one, assessed the situation and then provided me with three proposals. I chose the “premium option,” because I wanted to ensure that I won’t have any more leaks in the foreseeable future (my house was built in 1918 and is essentially sturdy, but obviously things have changed a lot since then, and things like pipes, etc. also wear out).René then headed off to pick up the necessary parts and came back and got to work. He had warned me that the water would be shut off and made sure that I could access the toilet just before it was shut off.He also checked with me about whether I was okay with his working late or whether I wanted him to finish up in the morning. I was eager to have things back to normal ASAP and assured him that it was okay to work late.To be honest, considering the scope of the work, I was impressed that he was able to manage it all on his own, without any assistance! It was about 9:45 p.m. when he finally left after cleaning everything up downstairs and in the bathroom and guest bedroom closet. Before leaving, he reminded me that I had a 2-year warranty on the work done in case any problems surfaced in the future, and he checked to make sure that I didn’t have any concerns or anything else I wanted him to take care of.I truly appreciate his hard work and excellent customer service!

    We had an unfortunate emergency to service line on a Sat morning. After looking at other Google reviews, we decided on Gene Johnson.Thankfully they had availability that afternoon 12-5. Got a call and they were able to arrive by 2pm and Macario arrived right on time.Macario was courteous, relatable, understanding and was willing to answer all our questions and address our concerns. He was able to identify our issue right away after using a camera and fixed the immediate problem of a blockage. However he was very honest with us that there was an underlying issue with old concrete pipes including existence of roots and sunken spots where the pipes are not even. It’s pretty clear we will need more work and Macario is putting us in touch with another of his colleagues who will assess and give us a quote on how to fix this permanently possibly other options.We appreciated that Macario spent time to answer even more questions and be honest on the reality we need to do the bigger fix. At no point did he pressure us into additional services just provided options. We recognize the next step are expensive and will get multiple quotes before proceeding. We’re hoping Macario and team can find the most cost effective and best solution so we can continue with them for the next work that we’ll do very soon … stay tuned.

    What a great, superb, and thoughtful job by Alex of Gene Johnson Plumbing! We lost our hot water tank due to a apparent malfunction 2 weeks ago and did not have hot water for that long. The reason is that the hot water tank was a non standard 20 inch tank. After reaching out to Gene Johnson to help with the problem, Alex dedicated several hours over a long holiday weekend to find the correct hot water tank that would fit. He successfully found it and brought it for installation on Tuesday September 5th immediately after Labor Day. If it werent for Alex we would have waited for AO Smith to ship the unit which would have taken 30 days. We can only commend Alex on his significant efforts to help us remedy the situation and his attention to detail while on the job. Specifically, he noticed that a previous plumber had removed the pressure regulator for the entire house for reasons unclear to me. But Alex emphasized how important it is to have this in the mainline and reinstalled it. So his attention to details while on the job was also outstanding! This is the first time we went used a company that was not the company that installed the original system. Although Mr. Tinkler arrived at the end of his day, he was not rushed and did a thorough set of tests as well as a physical inspection. Daniel was very knowledgable with not only our system, but the building codes regarding HVACs. He found one aspect of our system installation that was not per code. He found two items that needed adjustment or repair. He prioritized the order they should be done (as cash is a little tight for us right now.) - He explained everything completely and simply.     Tyler a technician from Gene Johnson plumbing, heating and electrical, came out to repair a leaking sewer line and do a rough in for a kitchen remodel that I have started. The job turned out to be quite alot more difficult than anticipated, taking two days, instead of one day. The reason it took longer, is, our house is 114 years old and Tyler needed to bring water lines from the basement into a difficult to access crawl space. The system fired right up as soon as he replaced it (literally less than 5 minutes ) it was up and running. He also went the extra mile to check the whole system while he was there. The price was very reasonable too. Highly recommend!!

    We called Gene Johnson Plumbing today after finding our basement flooded from a failing water heater this afternoon. They were incredibly friendly and helpful on the phone when booking the appointment and were able to send someone out within an hour to give us a quote.I really appreciated the thoughtful, communicative, respectful, and expert service we received from Alex Panteleef, the plumber who showed up at our door. Alex quickly assessed the situation, provided the quotes for various options that were clearly explained, and --once we agreed on the solution-- proceeded to knock the work out over the next few hours. We had hot water restored to our home within the day!Alex stayed late to make sure that the work was done and left the room in better shape than when he arrived. I noticed that he did little things to improve access to the water cutoff valves and the stability of the surrounding pipes and lines that show an eye for detail that really does make a difference.Gene Johnson isnt necessarily the cheapest option (they arent outrageous either), but knowing that it will be a wonderful experience whenever I call on them is worth it to me.     Our home heating system failed and after multiple interviews and estimates for this LARGE project we selected Chad and GJP. He was detail oriented, meticulous in his plan and able to come up with work around when necessary. He explained the work, and he and Alex quickly earned our trust and respect. Aaron, at his visits, confirmed our confidence in the plan and during the actual implementation.This was a 7 week project, and we even entrusted Alex and Chad to work while we were out of town a few days- there was never any issue of any type that required our concern.     Great technicians. Both times I called them, the technicians tried fixing the issue first with some actual try which worked both times before suggesting any major work. First time it was for an air heater issue, Jason Perry , fixed it by tightening some screws , tapping on the spark plug, and the bill came to only a little above the dispatch fees and he gave instructions how to service and clean the filters ourselves moving forward. Totally worth it. The second time it was for a broken lawn spigot and Branson Carr fixed it by replacing the cap instead of the full spigot and suggested us to replace the spigot only if we want to as it is slightly leaking when open. Other companies who gave free estimates visit just to give an estimate for a big job without the technician trying anything to fix it first.

I’ve never experienced such “white glove” service from a home repair type company before. Dylan was so helpful and went above and beyond to diagnose a really tricky plumbing problem. And when it was more complicated than we originally thought, he worked very hard to get additional plumber out, with a different expertise, same-day to finish the repair. I have small children and was so grateful at the speed as which they moved knowing this was such a vital fix for us. The second plumber, Alex, was so kind and meticulous with all his trouble-shooting. He even stayed late to finish the job. Such class acts at this company.     About a week ago I had Gene Johnson Plumbing come out to replace my tankless water heater with one that has a recirculation feature so I can get quick hot water to my kitchen sink (instead of waiting minutes and wasting so much water!), as well as other problems that werent addressed after buying the house (water condensation leaking from the exhaust as one example).The tech, Chad Hendrix, had the most impeccable attention to detail while installing. He even stained the backboard that supports the tankless water unit so itd look nice inside my garage! In the end, he took his time to explain how the system worked, what potential maintenance things I could do myself, as well has how to operate the unit if I wanted to adjust anything. This guy is passionate about his installs and making sure his customers are looked after - Im glad he was the one to come to do the install, as most people are simply there to get the job done, get paid, and get out of there. Gene Johnson Plumbing, this guy deserves a bonus :)

    When our old tankless water heater died at the beginning of March, it left us without hot water or central radiant heating during days when it was still getting down around freezing at night. The folks at Gene Johnson replied promptly and spent two endless twelve-hour days installing a new heater and pipes from the ground up, making sure that wed get our heat back as quickly as possible. After a follow-up visit, everything works perfectly and were able to put the space heater away again.The estimate ended up being very accurate and the final total was very close to it.I am very grateful for the quick response and the hard work that Wade and Ricky put in. I will call Gene Johnson again whenever we have plumbing work that needs doing.

    Replacement of external wall faucet with a frost burst pipe outside kitchen.Day #1 The technician did a thorough inspection of the inside and outside installation, and provided a comprehensive quotation. He explained in great detail what needed to be done and how it would be done.I reviewed the quote and scheduled the work for the next day.Day #2 The same technician showed up for the appointment and could go straight to work, as he had already inspected the site. Great care was taken to prepare the area before starting.An access hole had to be made through the drywall from within the cabinet under the sink in the kitchen. The job was done very professionally and effectively. Great care was taken to leave as little trace of the job as possible once completed. The hole in the wall was closed with a fitting cover. The installation was finally tested and inspected.The whole thing took about an hour. The charge was exactly as quoted.
