Rave review and Kudos to Carlos from James Plumbing who came to repair our hot water heater earlier this week. He was professional, personable and very thorough. He even came earlier in the day than originally planned which was perfect for us. Any other plumber might have just said you need a new water heater but Carlos did a very precise examination and found that both heating elements were very corroded and that much sediment both soupy and granular had gathered in the chambers. He went over and above in his approach and painstakingly removed all of that sludge and now our hot water heater is good as new and providing consistent reliable plentiful hot water! His great work saved us from having to buy a whole new system. Carlos is exceptional and we highly recommend him.

We got a quote for a boiler replacement from a different company that was astronomical so we called James Plumbing and Heating for another quote. Carlos came out the next day after we contacted James and he gave us a quote that was an incredible deal compared to other quotes wed gotten. He removed the old boiler that same day. On the day of the new boiler install, Carlos worked efficiently and kept me in the loop the entire way. Throughout the whole process he was friendly and engaging, explaining what he was doing, how things worked, etc, and gave tips on how to care for the new boiler. Would 100% recommend Carlos and James Plumbing and Heating.

Carlos quickly diagnosed my heating problem, replaced the faulty zone valve and thermostats, also took care of the thumping noise after flushing my toilet. I just made another appointment for him to come back and maintain my boiler. He does good work, but he does not like to work with plastic parts!

Do yourself a favor and make this your go-to plumber! I had a plumbing emergency and 12 minutes after calling there was someone here fixing the busted pipe in the hot water heater. Pricilla with dispatch was kind, professional and efficient. The plumber who fixed our hot water heater was knowledgeable, efficient and thorough. The price was very fair for quick and after hours service. I’m honestly blown away. What an amazing find.

I contracted James Plumbing to plumb my new construction residential project and Im very pleased with the results. He was very competent but I wish hed been aware of a selection of booster pumps rather than the next upgrade of the same model I had that was no longer made. This upgrade works fine but it runs continuously and is louder.

My first experience with them was not ideal. Our tech was Carlos and he should not be in a position where you interact with customers (he has mixed reviews on here so I think it depends on his mood). When talking to the office about the situation they were incredibly kind and helpful. They were able to fit me in right away. Since my fireplace still wasn’t fixed, they sent a different technician out. Isaac was THE BEST. Professional, nice, diagnosed the problem quickly, picked up the part and fixed it, same day. I’m a property manager so I constantly have to fix things. James Plumbing is my new go to.

We called James Plumbing and Heating a few weeks ago to have them inspect our old evaporative coolers. It was too cold for them to be on the roof safely so it was delayed until today. Carlos showed up promptly at the scheduled time, did a careful inspection and gave us options. We quickly made a decision, which required custom fabrication of parts. Although he said it might take a few days for the fabrication, he called us and said he could have it rushed and reinstalled by the afternoon. Dominic dismantled the old units, assisted in installing the new parts, and Carlos and Dominic carried away the old units. Their service was efficient, courteous, and expeditious. I highly recommend James Plumbing. I called three times for service and got same day service each time. First, Thomas replaced the pump which, although working, was making a terrible noise. He was fast, cordial and I had quiet heating again. The second and third times Carlos came out because I had no heat. The pilot light was out each time. Carlos replace the thermocouple and lit the pilot. When I had no heat again, Carlos came back and replaced the thermocouple again, suspecting a faulty thermocouple, and gave the boiler a thorough inspection to trouble shoot. Carlos was also cordial and fast and I understood the potential problems with my 20+ year old boiler. Very happy with James Plumbing.

Carlos from James Plumbing and Heating came to fix a problem with our gas fireplace/stove today. He was able to identify the problem quickly - the fan was broken and needed to be replaced. He checked the unit, made sure it was safe. (Also recommended I not keep the new TV next to the heat!) Then, he was able to go and pick up the needed part and install it today. He gave me a heads up phone call and sent a text, was on time, was courteous, professional and efficient. My wallet is lighter (not a cheap fix), but I couldnt be happier with the service and very grateful to have the unit working now that its colder.

Weve had to call James Plumbing and Heating twice in the past month to do work on a 1946 house (and bathroom) and theyve been amazing. First, Dominic fixed a nearly impossible situation where the tub had been plumbed in very strangely, with the wrong grade, no P trap, and several pipes buried or half-buried in dirt. Another excellent contractor had looked at that with considerable dread and trepidation, but Dominic dug right in there and set things right, solving a bad smell situation and getting things flowing correctly. Then, when the antique fixture on the tub started leaking, Carlos came out and did an amazing job of fixing it. Its a cool old solid brass fixture that is pretty much irreplaceable now and I was worried wed have to swap it out for something generic and new, but Carlos expertly dismantled it and restored it to full working order. Better than ever! Turns out his specialty is restoring vintage plumbing and fixtures, lucky us. Both of them were very polite, kind, and conscientious about tidiness and time. Great company and skilled people, will definitely call again for future needs.

Oscar did a great job maintaining my swamp cooler and getting it to run better and more effectively than ever. After writing a proposal for replacing my old (1991 or so) hot water heater tank with a modern tankless system and explaining the various aspects of that changeover it was scheduled quickly. Oscar, with the help of Isaac, completed that job very efficiently by the middle of the afternoon the day of the installation. They went above and beyond doing such a great job that I find the piping configuration they constructed to be quite pleasing and a work of true professional artistry. Their work has greatly improved the space dedicated to the water heater and the overall function of the water system, not to mention the increased value of the home due to the system upgrade.

I first contacted Home Depot and requested a reply via email. Instead, a day later, they called me. I asked them to switch to email. I never heard back.Then, based on reviews, I called James Plumbing & Heating (the reviews in my area were by far the best). I explained I had a gas hot water heater that needed replacing and that I was considering buying my own tank and could they quote me for both me providing a tank and for them providing the tank. Isaac came to do annual maintenance on our boiler, which serves a radiant heating system as well as heating water. James Plumbing installed it 4 years ago. He did a fantastic job. It seems hard to find a trustworthy, dependable and reasonably priced plumber in Santa Fe, but James Martinez and his company fit that bill. I had one plumbing crisis as winter began, to replace an aqua stat on my boiler, which James did within 24 hrs of me getting the part (and it didnt bother him that I purchased my own part). The second job was to repair some copper corrosion which he did cleanly and quickly. He had to come back the next day to bleed out more air from my boiler because I couldnt wait for it to sound normal again on its own. He was patient and incl his second visit as part of his first trip. He is very fair with his pricing. Ive had other plumbers really take advantage of my plumbing situations. James doesnt. No plumber shows up right when they say they will, but James tries his best to do so. He likes to communicate via text. I appreciate his quick responses. I will hire James again because he cares and wants to make sure Im happy.

James Plumbing is the best plumber in Santa Fe! Ive lived here for 60 years and I found James Plumbing a couple years ago. Recently, they replaced my boiler and installed a hot water recirculating system to save water. They provided a timely estimate, showed up on time and replaced the boiler much quicker than I expected. When they turned on the boiler, it was defective (leaked). James calmly explained that it was the first boiler in 30 years to be defective. He assured me that they would take care of it. They had to search for a replacement boiler since they are hard to find. A week later, they came and replaced the boiler and were able to take the time to install a hot water recirculating system while they were onsite. Very professional and friendly staff and I highly recommend them for any of your plumbing.

I had excellent service from Carlos at James Plumbing and Heating. I had not had a through service of my radiant heat system since we built our house in 2007. Carlos came at the scheduled time to do an assessment of the system. He checked thermostats and valves to make sure they were all operating correctly and he checked pumps, boiler, and venting. Carlos gave me his assessment and laid out options with costs. I chose a shorter-term solution and I will likely need to do something more extensive in a few years. I scheduled the work which entailed taking the boiler apart and cleaning the massive amount of scale from the tubes (likely calcium from condensation from bad venting). The cracked venting was replaced as well as a couple of other needed items. Carlos also replaced my circulating pump (which I bought) for our hot water system. It took about 6 hours which was the estimate. He was as neat a plumber I have seen, cleaning up. Also he was very good about discussing and explaining which comes from his 20 yrs of experience. Carlos did a great job of diagnosing a problem with a drain in a bathtub. Explained the problem and proposed a solution. We will use James Plumbing to install a water conditioner as well as fixing the drain problem.Addendum: Carlos has been back numerous times to address warranty issues from the original construction of our home that was done poorly by another company. He has been exceptional! He has completely revised the radiant heat boiler plumbing that was installed incorrectly by the original installer. He revised the PVC pipe exhaust for the radiant heat boiler on the roof where the original plumber had failed to glue any of the PVC pipe joints causing leaking into the boiler unit inside the mechanical room. He revised a bathtub drain that was installed without a p trap and caused sewer gas fumes inside the bathroom. He diagnosed and repaired an on demand hot water heater that was continually shutting down and throwing errors via the units computer. My experience is that reliable service is hard to find in Santa Fe. Carlos and James Plumbing will be my go to plumbers in the future.

On two occasions, Carlos has come to our place to work on the boiler for our heating system. The first was in December when we had no heat. Carlos immediately began troubleshooting and found the problem fixing it with no problems. The system has worked fine since then. We were impressed with Carloss knowledge and professionalism. He encouraged us to watch him work and learn more about how our system works. He was great to be with and very personable and safe when it comes to COVID. Wear a mask when he comes for his and your safety.Carlos returned in January of this year to make needed improvements to the boiler system. It wasnt cheap but the work and improvements will add efficiency and life to the boiler. He was honest and very straight forward about the work he wanted to do. We trust his judgement and appreciate James Plumbing for their prompt response for our emergency in December. Will keep using them for annual maintenance and any plumbing needs.

The system wasn’t cooling!James was prompt and called to let us know he was on his way to our home the day service was scheduled.He checked the system out and found the problem right away and went to work. Our outside unit was making a loud humming noise too. He noticed it without me saying anything. He took the time to address this too by adding a plastic bracelet and screw and tightened all the screws on our unit. He paid attention to detail.We have used James Plumbing and Cooling for a couple of years and will never use another companyfor these services. They are honest, thorough andthere when you need them! I cannot recommend this business enough! I am a new home owner and needed to replace my boiler and water tank. I called James plumbing and was able to schedule an appointment for an estimate within a week of the call. Isaac with James Pluming was professional, extremely kind and helpful. One of my toilets became blocked and after several failed attempts of DIY solutions, I called the plumbing company I have used before, a well-established and highly rated company here in Santa Fe. I was immediately put on hold, and after 2 minutes of waiting, the line disconnected. I called back twice within 20 minutes only to get a busy signal each time. My daughter, visiting from out of town, was on her computer so she did a search on area plumbing companies, read reviews and finally said we should try James Plumbing & Heating. She called got a recording, then saw the on-line option of contacting the business so hung up and started filling out the form. In less than a minute, before she could finish the form, she got a call back from their receptionist, who was very nice and helpful and scheduled a tech to come out at the first available time. My daughter hung up and said now THATS the company you want to do business with, they called me back and I didnt even leave a message, she just looked at the number calling in! A tech named Carlos will be here in the morning between 10:00 and 12:00.Carlos arrived at 10:02. He was extremely professional, as well as friendly/cheerful and prepared to fix the problem. Immediately it was apparent he genuinely likes helping people, even with a less-than-appealing job before him. But what really struck me was his concern about the size of the commercial auger he was going to use and the very small working space in the guest bathroom. The toilet is squeezed into a corner, just inches from the tiled wall of the shower and the adobe wall on its other side. But what makes it difficult to maneuver around is the adobe wall that separates the toilet from the sink/counter top. Its 16 inches in front of the toilet and juts out within 22 inches from the other end of tiled shower wall. He was VERY careful to not hit/nick the walls or tile and cause any damage while operating the large auger. It wasn’t as easy as one would think, but Carlos was very careful, and despite him saying it was very compacted, he got it working perfectly again. I know it wasnt a highly technical repair, but he treated me with respect and was very professional regardless. I highly recommend him as a technician and based on other reviews with bigger repair/installation needs, and knowing I will need plumbing services in the future (sections of my sewer line - approx 100 ft to the city line - are still very old clay pipe, as new pipe has only been added as failures have occurred), I will definitely be calliing James Plumbing and Heating again.

Let me start by saying that as new residents in Santa Fe, we have been disappointed by broken promises related to service calls. I reached out to James Plumbing and Heating concerning a leaky faucet. Isaac showed up earlier than promised and had my repair completed in short order. I had purchased a dishwasher prior to the faucet service call and needed a plumber to complete the installation. Isaac looked at his schedule, called me with a date and time, and showed up on time on the promised service date. Installation was nicely done. Once finished, I asked him to look at my two gas fireplaces. He and his father worked diligently and had them up and running in short order. I must say their costs were also very competitive.I was so impressed by this father and son team that I had them quote replacement of my traditional gas water heater with a tankless system. As expected, competitive pricing, installation date and time as promised, and a quality installation.In summary, James and Isaac are awesome. You deal with the company owners, the same individuals that show up to provide service. I will use them for all my plumbing and heating needs and highly recommend them without reservation.

The ground around our outdoor hose bib was staying damp so we suspected there was a leak. We called James Plumbing as their reviews were positive and they showed up as promised. The leak involved digging 5 ft for the repair and they replaced a PVC pipe with a copper one and supported it from below. I appreciated the explanation and updates and think the price was fair for the amount of work involved. I also prefer to hire local family run businesses if they do good work, as James Plumbing did.

Our positive and professional experiences with James’ plumbing began with Gabriela, Prescilla and James. They were all very professional and informative. They responded quickly and followed through in commitments they’d made.The estimate James made was complete, accurate and easy to understand.On the day of our service, Isaac and Thomas were prompt, professional, courteous, informative and thorough. They came prepared to remove an old water tank and install a tankless water heater and a water filter. As the day progressed they also discussed with us relocating the water main shutoff, which they ended up doing.The installations look great and work well.We were happy to again have hot water! However, the water we do have has a bluish green tint to it, a foul taste and a slight odor. We are not comfortable drinking it, brushing our teeth with it or giving it to our pets. The color seems to be clearing up a little with each passing day but we’re not sure when it’ll be ready for regular daily use. It runs this way in all our kitchen and bathroom faucets, shower and toilets.The day after the filter’s installation Thomas took time to talk with us about the situation and verify that the installation had been completed correctly. For now, it seems like the best explanation is that the new filter is cleaning out our old pipes. It’s now been 6 days of this water.Overall we are very pleased with the service, customer service and responsiveness of everyone on the team with whom we’ve interacted and will not hesitate to utilize their services in the future or to recommend them to others.Alicia & Wendy

When a plumber rescues you two separate times on a holiday weekend, I’m not sure whether that says more about the plumber or about you… I’m going to make it about the awesomeness of James’ Plumbing and Heating.As first-time homeowners most of the way through a kitchen remodel, we needed someone to reconnect our plumbing and install the drain and garbage disposal on our new sink. We had a new dishwasher as well, hooked up earlier by a handyman but awaiting the new plumbing. On the Friday after the 4th of July, we call James, who had done great work at our old rental house. We were initially told Tuesday was the soonest he could come, which seemed like forever, but it was a holiday weekend and I know plumbers get booked in advance. Yet a few minutes later, James called and said he could come by now to check it out and see what parts would be needed (preparedness? Heck yeah).A couple of hours after he came by, he called again to let us know he had someone available to help us that afternoon. This was the best thing in the world I could hear at that moment, after more than two weeks without a kitchen sink. A young guy arrived in 15 minutes or so and set to work configuring the disposal and p trap on our new sink. It was not an easy job, but he found a creative way to get it set up, reminding me why it’s good to call a plumber sometimes rather than attempting these things yourself. The bill was very reasonable, and we were super grateful to have a functioning sink.Later that night, I tried to run the dishwasher and got an error code, so I pulled it out and discovered that it was leaking all over. As I mentioned, this had NOT been hooked up by James, and this was the first time we tried to use it. So I turned off the hot water line and let it sit until the next day, Saturday, when we called James again. We didn’t expect a callback until Monday, and I accepted that we’d have another couple days without a sink or dishwasher. But a couple of hours later, James called and said he could come over and take a look. He was there in 15 minutes, and immediately saw the issue in the water connection. Even though it wasn’t remotely his (or his employee’s) fault, he felt it should have been tested before the guy left the previous day, so he fixed it at no cost. I was amazed - it’s Saturday of a holiday weekend, he’s just gotten off the golf course, and he manages to make the rest of our weekend infinitely less stressful.All in all, we were blown away by James’ Plumbing and Heating’s skill, timeliness, pricing, and above all, kind and courteous service. We’ll definitely be calling them for future home projects.

Carlos provided timely and professional service to address a squealing shower. I had previously changed the cartridge value, but the squealing persisted. I explained the issue to Carlos, who had a few different ideas on how to do the repair initially, after troubleshooting the issue down, Carlos, determined the water pressure was the issue. Several faucets running at the same time and a few water pressure adjustments and the noise was gone. Its been 5 days now, and its good to only hear the water splashing during a shower.

Weve used James Plumbing several times, and had positive experiences each time. Most recently, Dominic came to fixed a cracked pipe under our sink. Turns out the cracked pipe was glued to another pipe and the whole system of pipes under that sink was a mess of metal, ABS, and PVC. When he was done the, we had a clean PVC-only system, which was neater, which didnt leak, and which will be easier to maintain in the future.

I tired TLC first mostly because of a barrage of radio ads in my car. They were a major disappointment. Im having trouble with my radiant heating. I googled this time and found these guys. It was a night and day difference. We had a few hiccups getting started but once Isaac showed up I knew I was in good hands. He went at the problem with a systemic approach of first listening to me describe the issues, thoroughly checking out the system and then going after it. All along the way he was telling me what he was doing and why. I immediately got the sense he knew what he was doing. I dont think were there yet but Im at least confident well get there. Bottom line: my house is warm and it didnt cost an arm and a leg. I would use them again. Priscilla and Isaac were great to work with - professional, competent and timely. When we returned to Santa Fe and looking forward to some relaxation after several weeks on the road,we arrived at our condo to discover our boiler had taken on a life of its own. In addition we had no heat nor hot water in December.We called our Home Insurance company and they were unable to find an HVAC Contractor in Santa Fe (which was hard to believe).James came to the rescue! The boiler was over 18 years old and previous attempts to revive it obviously hadn’t worked. Complicating matters were that the boiler was in the loft and weighed who knows how much. The operation took several days which included a floor winch to free the boiler from the loft.
