Dont let the name fool you! Payless Water Heaters is a top notch organization and worth the call! Im so glad to have taken the chance and given them the opportunity to serve our needs. Wish I would have called them sooner.Saturday evening returned home from a day out and heard a dripping sound in the garage. Upon investigation, realized that water was dripping from the water heater drip pan. Noticed it wasnt coming from the drain spout and removal of the front cover, felt the insulation soaked and realized that it would be a replacement of the water heater. Sent out a request on Yelp and had several companies respond that they would reach out first thing Monday.Fast forward to this morning. Had a few companies come out and assess the situation and give me estimates. Having a differing range of estimates, decided to look at a few more companies. Payless popped up in the search and had stellar reviews. I reached out and was able to get an appointment for a few hours later which worked out great with my meeting schedule. About an hour before my appointment, I received a text with the name and picture of the technician and an approximate arrival time. Then about 20-30 minutes before, I received a call confirming the technician and arrival time. This was awesome as it allowed me to continue working up until the time.Dustin B. Arrived right on time and greeted me with a smile. He was polite, cordial, and listened to the situation. He then inspected the existing water heater and presented me with an array of options and services. He took the time to explain each. The options presented were within the range of other estimates I had received but was not the lowest option and I was weighing the decision based on budget and our current financial situation. I explained that to Dustin and showed him an estimate that was slightly lower and he said to give him the opportunity to talk with his manager. He called his manager on the spot, explained my situation and the other quotes and Payless matched and beat the lower proposal while still installing a great product.Throughout the installation, Dustin kept me updated on the progress and was completed within 2 hours of arrival. Im extremely satisfied with my experience and highly recommend Payless to anyone looking for friendly and professional service.

Payless was the only one of three plumbing companies I called that called me back after I explained my problem. They set an appointment for me the next day, rather than three or four days away like some plumbers. The service technician, David H., showed up on time and listened to the issue I was having. He laid out some possibly solutions, and detected a leak in the water heater that I had not found yet. He repaired that leak and got the pilot started again. It died a short time later, but he tried it again and waited 15 minutes to be sure it stayed on. He asked me to call when the water heater parts came in, and he would be back to install. I considered a new water heater, and he said if it was his he would replace it, but he offered me options and did not pressure me to buy. I will call Payless again for any further needs. oh, they work Saturdays and Sundays as well, unlike most plumbers!

I’m in San Marcos. Our water heater bust open at the bottom (old/corroded) at 1am. Luckily we heard it right before bed. Got in touch with Payless and they had a guy out at 7:40am. His name was Jerry and he did a phenomenal job. He came prepared, had a replacement tank, and did the job in a little over 2 hours. Polite guy too. Would recommend. Prices were fair, pretty much on par with what most companies quoted me. Maybe a couple hundred less. Thanks Jerry!

Aldrin came out to replace my leaking water heater, which might have been 20 years old. He was great! Aldrin explained various steps in the process, I shared some concerns I had and he gave advice on how to move through them, plus he was honest with what I needed and explained the extras, so I could make an informed decision. The job was expensive, but post-pandemic everything is ridiculous and overall it was less than having a flood or having no hot water in my house. Very thankful for the experience I had with aldrin as my technician.

My water heater was leaking on Sunday… I called and they scheduled me for Monday. On Monday they called to say the tech couldn’t make it and someone would come on Tuesday between noon and 2. Again I was called because the tech was detained at the previous job. When Rick arrived he seemed knowledgeable and on top of things except he didn’t gave a 40 gallon tank which was what I needed. So he is supposed to come tomorrow to install a new tank… until it’s done I’m not sure about recommending this company. I’d recommend Rick as he seemed to be doing his job. Rick arrived within the stated time frame today and installed a new water heater in less than 2 hours. Top ratings for this job

I asked Payless to install a heat pump water heater for me. The technology is relatively new and many plumbers dont know much about it. I found Payless to have excellent availability, good at communicating arrival times, and the plumber was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. He did a great job installing the heater with little issue. There were a few minor questions we had about the heat pump that he didnt know the answer to, but thats to be expected. A month later, our water heater is working well. Overall, it was a good experience at a decent price.

Have Rheem Performance Platinum 40 gal gas water heater with Power Vent. Another company had diagnosed that the Power Vent failed and quoted $1366 to replace & install the needed Power Vent. There was a 10-year warranty on the Power Vent. I contacted Rheem & they sent the replacement Power Vent. I contacted the original plumbing company to schedule the installation.1-16-24 4:55pm I phoned & spoke with a scheduler & requested the Tech who had diagnosed the problem. I never heard back from them.1-17-24 Researched several plumbing/water heater companies & chose Payless Water Heaters.1-17-24 2:37pm Telephoned Payless & spoke with Pablo. Requested a Technician experienced in Rheem Power Vent replacement. Was assured Tech is experienced & an appointment was scheduled for 1-18-24 10am-noon. He quoted $469 for this job.1-18-24 9:01am Received text with picture of Tech Aldrin M on his way. He arrived @ 9:23am. I was pleased to see he was obviously experienced & knowledgeable in this Power Vent replacement. Once installed, he began the restart process. The water heater had been off for several days, the garage is cold & it took several minutes for gas flow to start. He checked all connections while waiting for gas flow. Once ignited, he waited to confirm hot water was being generated. He gave me valuable advice for future considerations. There were no additional charges; $59 Service Call charge was included. The $469 payment was processed with a Card Reader which I appreciated.He departed @ 10:29amWith confidence, I will contact Payless for any future water heater issues or replacement!

Aden arrived on time and was professional and provided a great explanation of services, reasons for repair, and did a thorough diagnostic which revealed that my water heater was not leaking but the vent on the roof was. I had Payless to our home twice and both experiences were great! I really appreciated the great communication from the time we booked an appointment > letting us know their ETA on the day of service and the installation technicians Jose and Lance did a great job for us. Their repairs and tankless water heater have made a big difference in homes plumbing perfomance, with proper water pressure, perfect tempertaure hot water for showering and at the dishwasher.I hoping I dont need their services again for a while, but if I do need a plumber, I will definetely be calling Payless plumbing in San Clemente.

I was a bit panicked when we discovered water dripping from a leak in the copper water line onto the water heater and all over the floor of our shed. Found the problem at 6:30 AM, called afew 800# to get some responses to our problem. Got an immediate call-back from Sylina at Payless Water Heater to letme know that she could have a technician (London) at our home between 9 and 11 AM for an estimate and that there was no pressure if we wanted other estimates but at least he could diagnose our problem. London arrived at 10 AM, diagnosed the problem, stated that they could repair it right away. However, ourwater heater is 14+ years old and I felt it was a better solution toreplace it. He promptly gave me an estimate and we were ableto meet at an acceptable and fair price. London advised thatthey would be bringing our new installation up to the City of Carlsbads code, he had the 50 gallon heater I wanted on histruck along with 3 other heaters. Needless to say, we are very happy campers as the project was finished and up and furnishinghot water at 12:30 PM today! 5 Stars are all I am allowed but Iwould give them 10! Sylina and London are so professional andcompetent. I felt such relief after talking with Sylina and meetingLondon when he arrived and got right to work. They both are anasset to Payless Water Heater and I would highly recommend any and all who ask me for a referral of a competent and professional company for water heater repairs or replacements,Payless Water Heater really came to the rescue. We are very happy with our Aquamotion Recirculating system that was installed by Payless Water Heaters. Dustin came out and talked about the best way to solve the problem of hot water taking FOREVER to get to our house taps. I was open to suggestions, and didnt know whether we needed a new water heater, or some new plumbing or what. Dustin recommended the Aquamotion system and then came out later to install it. I love it! We just push a button, which activates the system, and then a few minutes later we have hot water for the shower, or dishes, or whatever. Prior to this, we will filling and hauling buckets of water to get hot water without wasting a ton of water, but after 12 years of hauling buckets, I was DONE. Extremely happy with the solution, and the company, and Dustin.
