I live in an old house that has a very complicated air conditioning system. I have been a customer of Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning for over 10 years. I have dealt with the owner of the company and probably everyone else in that time frame. The staff is always professional, friendly and reliable. There have been challenges with my AC over the years but Phillips has never run from them. They have always responded in a responsible and upright manner. This was the second time working with Phillips. This time around our technician (Eric) did a full check of our HVAC system. After a cleaning of the heating and AC units, installing a motor in the AC, and replacing some faulty ductwork, our whole system is operating w/ much better efficiency. And with no upsells that you might get with other operators. Eric even went above and beyond to find a remedy for an obnoxious knocking sound that was happening each time the air or heat would kick on in the house. Job well done!

I contacted Phillips heating after a terrible experience with another company. The person who answered my call was very kind and understanding. I had no heat and they had a technician to me in less than 30 min. I knew the unit needed replaced and the technician was helpful with setting up financing options and the team was there to replace my unit the next day. The guys were very professional and did an excellent job with installation. Two days later there was can issue with one of the tubes which caused the unit to shut down (not their fault but the tube collected air). Even though it was after hours on a Friday night, they had an emergency technician out that night to fix the glitch and followed up with me to make sure everything was working properly. Thank you so much Kevin and crew, every person I had contact with was genuine and compassionate and thats hard to find! I highly recommend Phillips!

They do a yearly inspection to maintain the warranty which is always easy to schedule. Their technicians have also been very friendly and helpful if we have any questions.

Service has been top notch! Jim Phillips came to our home several times, first to evaluate our furnace and A/C prior to our home purchase. After we moved in our A/C needed charged, so Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning took care of that at a very reasonable cost. We knew we would be needing a new system, so Jim came to our house to discuss details, pros and cons of 5 different options for new systems. So, we made our selection, replacing both furnace and A/C. Within two weeks, Mike and Nate arrived and removed our old units and installed the new ones in just a little under two days. They also replaced the vents to the outside. They were very respectful, courteous, and professional! They put covers on their shoes before walking on our light colored carpet and this was very much appreciated! Their work was very neat and they hauled away everything. They also removed our temporary window A/C from our master BR, and carried it down to the basement. Very kind and appreciated! And before they left, they gave a complete review of the systems and how to operate them. For the past ten years, weve always called Phillips for anything AC-or-boiler-related, whether a checkup or for a repair. They installed our Carrier AC for us 10 years ago when we first bought our house, and theyve done every yearly checkup since then. We just had our AC-and-handler checkup done yesterday, and Ian reminded me of the great service that we always get when we call in someone from Phillips. Without fail, they are always amiable, kind, knowledgeable, honest, and thinking of the welfare of their customers. From little meticulous details like always putting on shoe-coverings to keep our floors clean, doing sanity checks on prices to make sure they arent too high, and explaining in detail how everything works and why, I get the feeling that they really care about their customers. Our handler coil was very dirty and had to be cleaned. Ian explained in painstaking detail how the handler works and not only worked to clean the coil, but even inspected our ceiling filters and all around the handler to troubleshoot what the cause was. He surmised that the cause was our filter being slightly too small, leaving some gaps around the filter which allowed dusty air to be sucked up into the handler. After thinking awhile, he offered several inexpensive antidotes to the problem. He also discovered and sealed up a crack in our air handler that he suspected was also drawing dusty air into the coil.I know understand much better how the entire system works, and he gave me suggestions and tips on how to prevent the coil from becoming dirty again. I really appreciate the fact that they seem to care not just about dollars but about keeping their customers in great shape and everything in their house working, too. Awesome company!

We met with Jim to discuss the best option for our needs. The high efficiency furnace we chose was ordered, and we received a phone call from Kevin to schedule the installation. Within two weeks, our new furnace was installed by Ed and Bill. They did a fabulous job. They removed our old furnance and replaced the new furnace in one day. Everything looked great, and they left our basement in a clean condition. Ed and Bill were very efficient and knowledgeable regarding this installation. I called Phillips on a Saturday during January when my furnace went out and they talked me thru the issue via the telephone and it worked. Because of the great service I received, I then signed up to extend my warranty with them. They followed up with a service call, ordered my part and installed it in such a timely fashion. I am VERY pleased with Phillips. I have a Weil McLain Ultra boiler and I have a hard time finding someone that knows them and how to do maintenance on them. Over the years I have had the company that installed it and four others here to work on it. Each time I feel like I am teaching them how it works and telling them what needs to be done. This year it was not keeping up with the heat demand and one company said I needed a new one without any trouble shooting. I called Phillips since they are listed on Weil McLains site and not only did they not quote me two to three weeks out like so many companies are now, they got here the same day! Bob, the tech they sent listened to me. He spent a few hours here and trouble shot the boiler and found a few things to tweak. He also stated he wanted to do a maintenance kit (clean the heat exchange) I agreed with him. The parts took a few days and with Thanksgiving in there they came back out today. Bob came in prepared with what he needed but more importantly he has the knowledge and skill to do it right. When he opened it up it was clear it had not been cleaned correctly less than 2 years ago by a competitor. Bob spent a lot of time making sure it was cleaned well and it was far harder than it should have been, had it been done correctly last time. The boiler now gets as hot as it did when it was new. Bob did an amazing job, is knowledgeable, a hard worker and all around a good guy! If you have a Weil McLain Ultra boiler do yourself a favor save your time and money and call Phillips they know how to take care of it. I assure you no one else will ever touch my boiler again. I have also recommended Phillips/Bob to my family. Thank you again for saving me from a new system that would have cost thousands of dollars and being knowable and honest. I only wish I could give you a few bonus stars!

I met this company at the Home and Garden Show in Pittsburgh. The man I spoke with was very polite and offered to take a look at everything for free (our AC unit was almost 20 years old when we bought our home last year). Then, COVID happened. Mark Russell kept us in the loop and scheduled our appointment as soon as it was safe to do so. When Mark came to our house, he was very professional and really explained everything we needed to do, and he sent us estimates the very next day. He answered all of my questions very quickly and even let me know they had 0% interest financing through Dollar Bank and provided me with all the information needed to complete our project. The day of the project, Mark came back to our house with Nate and Bill. Nate and Bill were wonderful! They would give us updates throughout the project and were extremely professional throughout the experience. They installed our AC unit over a month ago, and I wanted to wait until weve used it a few times before writing a review. I could not be happier with my decision to choose Phillips Heating and Air Conditioning for our AC installation! Huge thank you to Mark, Nate, and Bill!

I got halfway through a job installing my own Google Nest Thermostat when I hit a snag with it not getting power. I checked every option the internet could tell me and luckily I was able to find Jack and Phillips Heating & Air Conditioning.Jack swung by and helped me troubleshoot the issue, noting things to remember (for me a first time homeowner) and things that may not have been done normally like wire colors and where they go to.Overall it took us about an hour of working through the issue, but we found that I... genius that I am... didnt shut off the HVAC directly so I blew a fuse while installing the unit.One quick fuse exchange later, I am up and running and will be bragging to my loved ones how I (me myself, with no help of anyone else) installed the Nest unit all on my own. Knowing fully well I couldnt have done it without them.Thank you Jack, and you bet Ill be seeing you soon to go over some of the other items I should be maintaining as a new homeowner!

I highly recommend Phillips and will be using them for all of my future HVAC needs. They clearly explained what they were doing at every step of the process of replacing my furnace, gave me accurate estimates, did a great job at a reasonable price, and were very pleasant to communicate with. I first contacted them when I was considering buying a home that needed the furnace replaced. It was obvious that there was an issue with the intake of the previously installed system, but the intake was difficult to locate. After I purchased the home, Jim took the time to do a thorough search of my vent system to try and locate the intake in order to give me as accurate an estimate as possible for replacing the system. It became clear that we wouldn’t be able to locate the intake of the previous system until it was removed, and Jim explained what work would likely need to be performed once the intake was located. He also provided me with several options to choose from for the replacement furnace, and clearly explained the differences and advantages of each model. On installation day, once the previous system was removed and the intake was located, Ian and Mike did a really nice job of transitioning the previously installed ductwork to make sure that the front panel of the new furnace can be easily accessed for future servicing, and of making necessary adjustments to the intake so that the issues that arose in the previous unit would not occur in the new unit. I have nothing but good things to say about the entire process.

Ian was very professional and explained everything that he did. We had issues when we tried to install a new thermostat and we ended up wiring everything incorrectly. Ian was able to explain what went wrong, correct what we did, fixed the fuse and install the new thermostat quickly and now it works great! He took the time to quality check everything to make sure that the thermostat was doing everything that it said it would and that the furnace was operating correctly. He even explained how to use the thermostat. I would highly recommend them for repairs, install or maintenance!

I got a couple text messages telling me the tech was on the way and at noon, the tech arrived. She was here no more than a half hour and had the problem diagnosed and repaired in that time. The compressor was the culprit. She explained everything in a way that I understood and without condescension.

I called Philips Heating & Cooling to get a second opinion on a quote from my home warranties contractor for a new central air system. John was able to schedule a consultation the next day with me. He spent alot of time with me going over my options. I never felt rushed and he always stopped to educate me on any questions. He left with the promise on a quote for a basic replacement and an upgraded model for the following day. I felt already sold just on the level of customer service versus the home warranty contractor. He came back with a quote that beat the home warranty contractor while giving me a more efficient unit. He was able to setup a install early the following week. Bill and Ed arrived promptly at 8:30 am. They started right away removing my old system and started installing the new system. They had the job done by early afternoon and I had ice cold air in my house after 3 weeks of heat. Bill and Ed were very friendly and answered any questions I asked. They were extremely professional and I could tell they did quality work when looking at the finished product. When settling the bill, there were no surprises and the work was priced as quoted. While leaving I thanked them for their great work and for cleaning up so well. Ed stated We like our work to reflect as if we were working on something in our own homes. That statement is a testament to the quality and level of service of this family owned company. Customer service and value is a priority to this company and it shows through action and words. I love doing business with this company. They are always responsive and you get a feeling that the staff there truly want to help you. The technician came three times to figure out/fix a water leakage problem for our steam boiler, and I trust he did a great job (will find out, but Im confident). It was 90 degrees in our house and with a pregnant wife, a 1 year old child, and two small dogs we needed help fast! Phillips had an amazing technician named Wes on call and he was at our house in 30 minutes and had us up and running shortly thereafter! I wont trust anyone else other than Phillips Heating and Air Conditioning to service our AC and furnace from now on and they are the only ones Ill reccomend!

Phillips was able to come to my house within hours, to service our AC in the middle of July!! Our technician was ERIC and he was awesome. I wanted to learn more about our HVAC system and Eric was able to show me the inner workings and how to maintain my system moving forward.Having a family with young children (and a wife who did not like to sweat), Eric understood our situation and need for a working AC system. Turned out our motor was burned out and the only fix was to install a new motor. Since it was not a universal motor, our only option was to use a specific Payne motor .... which means more $$.Eric was extremely helpful and understanding, so we could get the best deal possible. Although the cost was more than I liked (which is always the case) I am confident in the work Eric did and that everything is now in working order.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Phillips and their technician ERIC.

The insallation crew was on time, polite, and kept everything clean. The system works as described.

Excellent heating and air conditioning company. For once I had a company come in and do exactly what I requested. They did not try to upsell me. Ive Wahl heating the last several years and every time they come in they suggest thousands of dollars of additional up charges. Most the time here they spend filling out forms to up sell me things I did not need right now rather than just getting the work done and leaving. Wahl said I needed a water heater many years ago and its still functioning well now. Highly recommend Phillips. They were outstanding!

I had a water leak before the water meter, soaking the carpet. The office sent Nick the plumber out shortly , he diagnosed the problem, I had him shut it off at the curb, he told me where to dig, thats exactly where the leak was. He was very respectful, neat and efficient. He even wore boot covers in my driveway to keep the mud off it. Nick is very knowledgeable and courteous. I highly recommend him.

Phillips installed a new high efficiency furnace for us at a reasonable price as well as removed our old furnace. They were extremely prompt with communication and the installation was fast, with a thorough cleanup. The crew explained everything we needed to know about furnace maintenance etc and even repaired some ducts that had rusted through at no extra charge which was very thoughtful. I was expecting a much longer wait time but was relieved by how quick and efficient this entire process was.

They have been the most accomodating and communicative team I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Very professional. This is the company you want when it comes to HVAC.Im a landlord in Pittsburgh, and I bought a three-unit building in 2006 with a very complex heating system - two lead/lag boilers with five zones and an indirect hot water heater. It was a great design well ahead of its time for the late 1970s, but several components were failing or, at best, operating well beyond their service life.I wanted to update it, but I was concerned about its complexity. I called a few HVAC companies, and most of them didnt want anything to do with it. But then I called Phillips.Jack showed up, studied the layout, and then designed a computer-controlled management system that mirrored the functions of the older system, but more efficiently and more reliably. Most importantly, he explained how everything worked and supplied documentation for the new components. It worked wonderfully and it still does to this day.Since then, Phillips has provided annual maintenance and upgrades, and theyve even solved a few of the remaining mysteries about how this unique set-up operates.Good customer service is one part of being a reliable HVAC company - answering the phone, showing up at the appointed time, being well-versed in basic maintenance and repairs - and Phillips is great at these. However, the ability to apply experience, knowledge, and skill to complicated and unique systems is another.Their techs are fantastic (Eric in particular), and if I ever need to design a new heating system for this place or any other, Ill call Phillips.
