    My grandma had a new gate put in from Smith Handyman. and Wow what an amazing job they did. My grandma has a hard time lifting heavy items. I ask for them to build a gate that will be easy for her to open and the she got is so sturdy and well made I can open it with a single finger. The handyman Burt did a perfect job.Definitely gonna tell my family about Smith for any handyman service they have.Thank you

    From the first interaction with Beth in the office to saying good by to Jon and Thomas I have to say this has been of the best experiences I had with a company in the last two years. There was a small snag in time of arrival but that was quickly overshadowed by Jon and Thomas’ professionalism. They informed me each step of the process with what was happening next and went to GREAT lengths to make sure the job was done correctly and efficiently.     Matt and Luke showed up on time to replace 3 exterior doors. Super friendly guys to work with, very honest, upfront with suggestions and advice. Matt even found a composite door on sale saving us money, you cant ask for better service than that! They found some joist/floor rot under one of our doors and showed me the issues, explained the repair and costs to repair. I am more than happy with the quality and professionalism of this company and their employees! The office staff are very friendly and getting quotes for repair is very precise and speedy, no surprises! Thank you guys for making my stress of my home neglect go away and now I can breathe easy knowing it was repaired the right way!

    I am very pleased with the service and communications we had with Jacob and the company in general. We had a wide range of small(ish) tasks and we received a reasonable quote for the work. We approved the quote and scheduled the work.Jacob came out as scheduled and even sent a text informing us he was on the way. The work was done in a timely manner and the quality was excellent. The final cost was actually less than the approved estimate.As a home owner, I know there will be more work in the future and I most certainly will be calling Jacob and Smith Handyman Services back.

    We had several electrical projects completed by Smith Handyman Services. Some were more involved such as having new outside receptacle and a outside box added to our shed to allow for power inside and 2 receptacles. Added a ceiling fan, which was quite involved. Kaleb and Lucas worked hard, steady and made sure that covers were used to help keep area clean. They were professional, personable and communication as to what was going to be completed for the day and planned for the remaining days. They vaccumed after completing the work. Would definitely recommend this organization.

    I hired Smith Handyman Service to remodel my house. The scope of the project included adding a 15X20 room on the back of the house, adding a 20X30 deck with 2 ramps, and knocking down a wall in the middle of the house to open up for a living room/dining room combo. Grand breaking took place on September 1, 2023 and was completed on November 14, 2023.I am extremely pleased with the final result. The project manager took my design and MADE IT HAPPEN, right down to the last detail. During the process, I was informed regularly on how things were going and what to expect. The communication was excellent. The workers were on site almost every day during the 10-week project and some even worked on the weekend.The project manager kept me informed of any financial adjustments that had to be made. If there had to be an increase in the quote due to and unforeseen obstacle in construction, I had the opportunity to approve it. Still, even with a slight increase in the original quote, the project manager worked diligently to keep the final costs within my budget. When I was presented with the final payment amount, it was exactly what I anticipated it would be. There were no surprised added on to the final payment.I would highly recommend Smith Handyman Service. The workers are dependable and very professional. They work quickly and do the job exceptionally well. I also appreciate that they were honest with me and treated me with respect and professionalism. I will definitely use Smith Handyman Service again!

    Smith Handyman was easy to work with and successfully changed out a ceiling fan for me. Apparently the new fan I purchased had the most complicated wall switch installation! It took 2 visits and bringing in a second electrician, but in the end, the new fan looks great and works perfectly. The cost was high, but sometimes that’s the trade-off for things done right.

It was a complicated issue that took both appliance installation know-how and plumbing and carpentry skills to complete.     Being new to Knoxville, we needed a few things done on the house we just purchased. We had heard good things about Smith Handyman Service. Nick was assigned to install 3 new ceiling fans, tighten up our banister and mount our 63 TV. He completed it all in one day for a very reasonable price (20% less than the quote)! He even managed to get the TV mounted all by himself! I dont know how he managed, but he did! He was polite and courteous. We will definitely be using this company again and based on our experience, would recommend their services to others!

    I just had a chandelier swapped out by Kaleb and Kurt. Normally, this would be a pretty simple job. However, due to the location of the fixture, and my unusual staircase, it was a bit more of an undertaking. Kaleb and Kurt came up with a really creative way of getting up there. They also showed up early, and were really friendly. The price was high, but the final cost was lower than the initial estimate. Considering how fast and polite this company is, I believe it was worth it. I blinked and they were done.

    I had a gutter that was starting to come off the fascia on a two story house. After submitting an inquiry online they reached out extremely quickly. They were able to come within a week and got me taken care of. They gave me an arrival window and showed up on time. Burt was extremely professional and did a great job. Had them out today to adjust a sliding glass door (one they did not install).First off, based on my experience, they provide exceptional customer service by keeping you informed. Yesterday, I received a call from Lacey, the Scheduling Coordinator, to let me know there was an opportunity to move my originally scheduled appt up by one week which I jumped on. I appreciate her reaching out for that, plus their system immediately sends a confirmation text with appt date/time details. Today, I received another text just to let me know when they were enroute to my location.Nick showed up and quickly assessed the work to be done. I found him to be professional, personable and knowledgeable. He took care of the work and also adjusted our screen door even though that wasn’t listed on the scope of work; just a detail he noticed and addressed on his own initiative!I decided to take a chance based on reviews I’d read and they did not disappoint…will most definitely be using them again!!

    Mike Weaver was my assigned technician and he did a fantastic job (words cant really express)! He arrived right on time and diagnosed a water leak I was experiencing within minutes. After diagnosing the leak, which ended up being the hot water valve at my washing machine, Mike went right to work on it - replacing the valve and installing a new copper line for the valve. He completed the work in lightning fast time and ensured the area was clean and clear before leaving. No doubt about it, I will use Mike and Smith Handyman Service again. Thank you!

    We used Smith Handyman to fix some siding that had come loose and to switch out two lights. Jacob Hawkins was the man that they sent. We were so pleased.     Mike & Andy installed an Anderson door leading to our back patio. Our previous door was rotted through and through and needed extra love to fix. Andy & Mike arrived exactly on time (this rarely happens with other companies) and began working immediately. They finished early which was a delight to me. They communicated with me every step of the way letting me know when something looked off or needed particular attention. I was thankful for the great communication because it helped me feel a part of the process. The door looks absolutely amazing and we couldnt be happier. He was courteous, professional and walked me through the process of mounting and running the wire into the house. He even came up with some creative solutions for optimizing the mount.     Caleb was great installing 2 new shower vent fans with LED lights in master and guest bath. Provided pics and cost of options from Home Depot during service visit. Much better air flow (80 vs 50 cubic feet per minute) than what builder installed to keep humidity down. Highly recommend this handyman for your home electrical work.

    We had planned for years to have our flooring replaced throughout our home. Smith Handyman Service made this possible. Scott responded provided us with an estimate and even accompanied us to the store to guide us in the selection of our new flooring. Jon was our technician and was always on time and professional. Each day we were updated on the progress of our flooring project. As with any major remodeling project we occasionally ran into problems with our existing flooring and sub-flooring. As soon as a problem became evident Scot was there with a solution. We love our new floor and will be calling on Smith Handyman for projects in the future.

I thought I just had to live with the poor work that was done by Austin. Thank you for caring enough to make it right. Changing my review to 5 stars for Mike Weaver, responsiveness of your company and QUALITY WORK when he was finished today. I really appreciate you making it right. My sincere thanks!Used Smith Handyman to build a catio (cat patio) for me August 2020. Ive attached finished pictures. Im afraid I wasnt impressed with the over $1400.00 price tag for the quality of work I received. Warped wood, sharp nails sticking out all over it. Something this expensive should be at least aesthetically pleasing. Once finished there was no shelving inside the catio (Id provided photos before the job was started with shelving inside). When I mentioned this to Austin he seemed annoyed, looked at his watch in frustration and said hed have to go back to home depot. He added two small shelves (my cats being able to get up high in the catio is the whole point of having something this large/tall to begin with) and charged extra for that additional 30 minutes of work for a job that was already incredibly expensive. Sadly, I would not recommend Smith Handyman because of price and finished product. Being a woman- I think I could have done this myself and saved this money for something else. And I am not a picky person. But this is just shotty work. 4/12/21: I see the owner has responded and offered to fix these issues. I appreciate that. I will contact your office.

    Smith handyman fully remodeled one bathroom and parts of a second. Kris was an amazing project manager. He kept us informed on the progress at all stages. We lost a week of work due to the winter storm but Kris still made it happen. He wasn’t opposed to get his hands dirty and went above and beyond.Two of the main technicians Andy and Jacob were also fantastic. They did great work and didn’t mind me popping my head in to see the progress. They were always professional and had wonderful customer service.     You will not find a better company to do a home renovation than Smith Handyman! They recently renovated our master bath, childrens bath, fireplace/hearth and floored our attic. From the consultation with Kevin, endless emails and chats with Taylor and ordering/design, to the actual work by the team, we had the best experience. Evan, our project manager, moved our project along and is so easy to work with! He values the work being done and the customer as well! Andy, Kevin and Scotts talented work in our home is outstanding; they are all super nice and entertained our children and dogs as they worked ;) Franciscos tile work is phenomenal and his attention to detail is much appreciated! We plan to use them for our next bathroom renovation along with whatever else we come up with! You will not be disappointed by calling them and meeting with their team!

    The team at Smith has done it again! They remodeled my kitchen and it is gorgeous! Not only that, they fixed and updated the poor work from the last owners so we can rest easy. No corners cut.     We hired Smith Handyman Service to replace a section of our deck that rotted and collapsed, repair a broken fence panel, replace some exterior trim on our front porch and reattach a couple of 2nd floor exterior shutters. Kris Geyer and his team did a great job! Everything was done well but we are particularly impressed with the new deck section. It looks great and is rock solid! We are very satisfied!

    It was a blessed day when I was scheduled for a dryer vent clean out this week. Not only were my vents totally clogged, but while the service was being performed, my water lines started spewing into my crawl space for an undetermined reason! Thankfully my water was shut off, the water break was found and repaired by Thomas from Smith Handyman. Then the reason for the appt was taken care of: 8 years of dryer vent clogs! I am thankful for the work performed and would definitely recommend this company! I am a happy customer!

    I am very pleased with Smith Handymans services! Thanks to the efficiency of Lacey in their office, two highly professional technicians were able to show up two weeks earlier than originally scheduled, which was very helpful for me. I received prior notice when Matthew and his partner were on their way and was always informed about what they were doing in replacing items such as my bathroom fan and sink and repairing items like a broken cabinet door. While the completed work was very professional and efficient, they also provided excellent advice and options for addressing the problems I had, and answered all my questions about future projects.     We recently had water damage to multiple places in our home. Even though we had issues with the insurance, Smith were willing to work with us every step of the way.     Another great project completed flawlessly by Smith Handyman Service. Jon, the drywalling expert in our book now, came out to repair where we had a water leak in our kitchen ceiling, causing the drywall/ceiling to droop and crack. He quickly cut the damaged area out, replaced it with new material seamlessly, did the texturing, and even did the painting (both wall and ceiling). The longest part of all of it was just waiting on the mud to dry once he did the repair. Would 100% recommend Jon Wilber for any handyman services or repairs, and well be setting up another appointment for them to redo the drywall in our garage this spring! 10/10. 5 stars.

    We used this service to repair some storm damage to the Facia of our roof at the peak of our 3-story house. Their estimate was thousands of dollars less than their competitors. Kaleb and Lucas arrived exactly on time, had done all the prep for the job, and had everything they needed to make the repairs. They were thorough and efficient, courteous to our neighbors that could have been inconvenienced by their presence and they cleaned up after they were done. The estimated cost was the final cost even though they had some challenges that they had to overcome. We could not be more pleased to recommend them to you.

    From the beginning of our contact with this company, they were top notch. Kevin diagnosed our roof issues correctly and even helped with picking the color. Meg in the office took a lot of time with me helping with the color choice. Twice, she carried samples out into the sunshine so we could make a good choice. Brad arrived earlier than planned and finished the work in one day. His attention to details make me feel like this is a quality job. For example, they made a groove in the bricks around the chimney one inch deep , they bent the flashing in one inch and inserted it into the groove on the bricks, then they sealed it around. Since this was an area that caused problems with our old roof, this seems like it will last much longer. Jay answered a lot of questions about taking care of the roof etc. Everyone spent time with me like I was their only customer. THANKS for the good job. It looks great! Really sharp!

    I had a double entry door set which would not close correctly. It was a poorly constructed door set purchased from Lowes and it was installed by a contractor who knew very little about what he was doing. After the installation was done for a few months, I decided someone else must come to fix the doors. I called Smith Handyman Service to see if someone could correct the problem and Kurt came to see what could be done. He found the problem very quickly. It was obvious within a few minutes that he knew exactly what was wrong and knew how to fix the problem. He was also very professional. He did what could be done with such poorly made doors. Kurt has made the doors close much better without the irregular space between the doors now.I highly recommend Kurt and Smith Handyman Service. I have more projects to be done at my house and I definitely will be using Smith Handyman again.

Our communications with the company administration were very positive. They then remained in contact as needed until the work had been completed.Our experience with their crew was also positive.     Matthew has saved our house. All we needed was a new vent for the crawl space but he noticed ANOTHER problem. Maam, I think you may have some foundation issues.     We discovered a serious problem with a large, poorly installed picture window. Had been leaking for years without anyone knowing it, rotting out the support framework under the sill and down inside the wall. New to Knoxville, unsure of company reputations here. Kurt was assigned to the job, decades of construction experience, accurately assessed the cause. Full disclosure from him at every stage. The job involved having to tear out some wall and natural wood flooring to get to the damage, and flashing and gutter work outside. This was a rather complicated job, not your run-of-the-mill weekend repair. The team was Kurt and Andy (also very experienced) and did the job. Both were courteous, timely, did only what they needed to do, and did an excellent job. The restoration was perfect - would never know we had a problem, and the job came in under the bid.     Let me preface this by saying that my husband and I do all of the work on our house. Weve owned it for a bit, and have just been slowly doing remodeling room by room. Part of that is to save and spread out money, but the other part is because we are just very specific about what we want and we honestly want things just pretty simple and basic. Well, after our roof gave up on us (we had a different company replace it after a major leak in December) we were left with significant of water damage to our ceiling. Suspecting we had water damage around the chimney as well, we made the unpopular decision to remove our chimney. I say unpopular because most everyone we knew just told us to wall over it. I was ready to climb into the attic and start chipping away at it myself, but we decided to give Smith Handyman Service a try. We talked to their group about taking down the chimney, framing the area, and putting up drywall and replacing a section of ceiling. After further consideration, we decided to just go ahead and have them drywall a room behind the chimney as well (we tore down the old wood paneling) and re-frame the closets to take the space where the chimney was. This was a big deal for us as it meant we were giving up a lot of control!Scott Gloeckner came out to Project Manage everything and we have been nothing short of impressed to say the very least. Scott has been on top of the crews the whole time and from the chimney takedown to drywall has kept our home clean so that we could continue living in it during the project. I even had major surgery during the middle of all of this, and Scott and his people have been phenomenal and communicative. We asked to only have the drywall mudded and prepped for paint because we wanted to prime, paint, and finish up the flooring ourselves. They had no issues with this at all!It has been nice to work WITH someone and not be made to feel weird for wanting to take on certain aspects of the finish work ourselves. My only regret is that we didnt know about them when we had our roof done. If we have any other major work that we dont feel like tackling ourselves, Smith will be our first call.Scott and his crew pointed out some major damage to one of the original beams in the house and we did a change order to have that replaced. Had we just left the chimney there, we never would have seen it, and the damage would have been far more expensive and difficult to fix later. Scott even had his guys add additional bracing to the roof.If you are on the fence about trusting Smith Handyman Service or their remodeling group, jump off the fence and give it a go. We did... and it was scary at first, but we are so so happy we took the plunge. Also huge shoutout to Juan for the hours of work taking down our chimney brick by brick. I would have made a much bigger mess than he did :)

They had to tear out the old walls and flooring, replace them, paint the walls, install new a washer and dryer, put in a shelf/counter, and install cabinets.They showed up promptly every day, finished a little ahead of time and right on their estimate (cheaper than most we received). Everything was well done. When one of the cabinets we ordered was damaged (not by them), they considered it part of the original job and came back and installed it for no additional charge when the replacement came.All in all, for a weeks work, we had zero complaints.
