Rick and his team were here today to install a new CIPP liner in the sewer pipe leading from our house to the main. Because it was not correctly done at the time of the house construction, lining was a good solution. Rick and his team were extremely friendly, helpful, skilled, and attentive to detail. When I mentioned about our recently planted landscaping, he assured me that they would be very careful - and they were. The job was completed efficiently and expertly. The final pipe videos confirmed the quality of the work. I could not be more pleased with both the work done by Rick and his team, but also the interactions with J. Blanton plumbing. They kept me informed about every step of the process. A great company with great workers!

Kyle and Lou both same separately for several fixes around the house and they were both extremely professional and diligent. I really appreciated the time Kyle took to make sure everything was working perfectly and to explain my new sump pump system to me. Additionally due to needing to get additional parts (due to no fault of his own) installation took longer than expected for Lou and he stayed working late at night to make sure I had a working shower! Really appreciated them both!

He and his crew spent time with me explaining the steps and showing the actual results ‘real time’ via their sewer camera to help me understand the network of pipes under my house. They put in a very long day to get the job done. And even though I probably made their day a little longer, they did all of this with complete courtesy and patience.

Ive had J Blanton do several plumbing jobs at our home. Ive always been pleased with the services provided. They always show up when they say they will, get the job done in a professional manner. The folks that have come out to do the work are always respectful and keep you in the loop on whats being done. I had Ryan Boesche out today with an apprentice to work on a water heater that did not have gas or water lines that were to code. Never let anyone hook up a water heater with flex lines that are not acceptable in Illinois. Ryan and his partner did a great job Im a short time. Trevor successfully solved the sewer issue to the extent he could, shared video of a blockage that can be solved only by a $6000 additional excavation and replacement of a broken sewer section. Lou did an excellent job fixing my broken spigot and installing a shut off valve. Lou explained to me that there’s a section even with a shutoff and a drained hose that can retain water. He suggested a drain valve for that portion, as that’s a common breakage point in polar vortexes. Lou was excellent and knowledgeable, treating my home as if it were his own. I hope to get Lou for any work with J. Blanton in the future!

Expensive but doubtless good quality and speed.We had a sewage backup late at night, and they came in ~1 hour. This sewage backup was caused by tree roots and required extensive work to fix (including digging up the yard), but they were able to get us working toilets the next day so that we didnt even have to go to a hotel. They followed through on work to not only fix the problem but to prevent a future recurrence of it.There was a minor glitch with billing where the invoice showed a higher number than what they had previously quoted, but they promptly resolved the issue, honoring their initial pricing.

Juan came on a Friday, was not able to find the leak, Because it was too far into the foundation. They set us up with a pump to help with the water flowing, came back Monday and redeemed themselves. Juan found the leak, worked his butt off to break up the cement and dig it out. Patched the leak. Came back and cleaned up the job.

I had the best experience with technician Vincent Laverd. He was an absolute delight to work with. I was facing a major plumbing issue and under extreme distress. Vincent was very personable and patient - walking me through all of my options and taking the time to explain in detail what each option meant. When I said what my needs were to make the project feasible for me, Vincent coordinated with his company team to find a plan and solution that fit my circumstance. I felt cared for in the process and appreciated the effort on his part to make my experience as easy as possible when I was dealing with such a major plumbing issue. I hope J. Jake Betke and his assistant Colton came out on the same day I called and handled a complex job after our gas had been turned off due to an unknown gas leak. It was a lot of detective work finding what turned out to be several leaks in the gas pipes. We appreciated Jake taking us through the assessment process and giving us options to address all the problems. They stayed until they were done (several hours) and explained everything, answering all our questions. The documentation that Jake sent showed itemized costs and photos which will provide evidence to the gas company. In total, this was a tough job handled with expertise. Ryan B and his apprentice at J Blanton did an excellent job replacing our units water shutoff valve (which was not functional or up to code).We live in an old building and did not have a functional shutoff. Without it, we couldnt do maintenance and installs without shutting the supply for multiple units using a gate valve that is on its last legs. No technicians during the quote and process tried to talk me down, which is a common problem with contractors in Chicago. Pricing was fair for the install.We will definitely use J Blanton in the future!

J. Blanton was top notch. Very professional and knowledgeable. I never felt like I was getting pushed to do something that was more expensive. We were told by another company through our home warranty that we had a belly and we would have to excavate our backyard. JB scoped our sewer line and told us this was not the case, and that we could either properly rod it (unlike the warranty company) or rod it and put in a liner. We went with the later option but felt like we were not getting pushed to do one versus the other - we were simply presented with the pros and cons of each before making our own decision. Everyone that came during the three visits were great — they never seemed annoyed and walked us through every single step of the process, and they even welcomed us watching various portions of their work.

I normally don’t write reviews, but needed to acknowledge the service I was provided by the team from J. Blanton the last two days. Yesterday my basement began flooding out of nowhere. When I called they had a tech dispatched immediately even during a snow storm we were enduring. I first dealt with Trevor who was very knowledgeable and extremely accommodating. He routed my drain to the point that we thought we were in good shape. At 11:30 that night the flooding began again and wouldn’t stop. We found out it was a clogged drain in the main line that the city cleaned out that night. The next day Ben and Alex came out to ensure the drain in my house was sealed properly from where it was initially routed and I was met with a similar experience to Trevor. I can’t recommend these guys enough. Great people and exceptional service.

Update Post (9/18/2024) Andrew Anderson came to the rescue once again, this time at my dads home to fix his bathtub faucets which were likely 50+ years old. He and his assistant were able to remove the cartridges of the hot and cold faucets with minimal wall damage (5-6 small tiles were removed). They did a great job and it all works like new again!. They cleaned-up really well, too. Thank you again, Andrew!Update Post (8/15/2024) I noticed the battery in my sump battery back-up system which was installed by J Blanton a few years ago, was overheating. So, I called J Blanton right away. Andrew (who had done previous work at my home and my properties), and his assistant came the next day to check on the system.He diagnosed the problem was the battery, a very costly part. He check on the warranty for the system to see is he could save me the cost. Unfortunately, it was out-of-warranty. That was ok because batteries only last 2-3 years and this one was well past 3 years old. The whole process of changing out the battery was quick and my system was back up and running in no time. Many thanks to Andrew and his assistant!!Update Post (3/9/23): Dave Mindy came to my clinic to change an erratic sump pump. He was on-time and got the job done quickly without a hitch. He also cleaned-up well after he was done.Update Post (10/27/22) - Wally and Ted came to my home to rod out my slow-running kitchen drain. They cleared 50 feet of drain pipe, not just the kitchen p-trap. Super nice guys, too. They put down a waterproof mat to protect the floor and cleaned-up completely before they left. Wally also rodded the kitchen drains in two apartments in a building I own earlier this week. This 5-star review is specifically for Edgar Herrera. He re-aligned the valves and trim in my primary bathroom shower, and he also replaced my hot water heater. He went out of his way to fill in gaps in tile and also cover up broken tile so that we have a new-looking shower without me needing to do extra work. He was extremely patient with my requests, solved problems creatively, communicated every step of the way. I cant recommend him highly enough!My overall impression of J Blanton is more mixed. J Blanton originally sent out a different technician to replace my shower valves and trim. The first technician took multiple days to complete the replacement (after I was originally told it would be a 1-day job), and left one of the valves noticeably crooked. I had to call J Blanton multiple times to request them to keep scheduling additional appointments to finish the job. In all, the repair took 12 days to finish instead of 1. I do feel like I eventually got good service and am happy with the end result, but it was a painful process getting there.

So this review is for one specific plumber at J. Blanton - Lou Augusto. The guy is a real pro. We previously had J. Blanton install brand new gas lines because we smelled gas around our new place. Even after the installation, however, we smelled gas. Blanton sent out Lou to check it out for no additional charge. Lou brought a meter - unlike the young Blanton guys that installed the new pipes - and dish detergent. He did the bubble test on all connections and thoroughly inspected the new pipes. In fact, he found the leak in the new pipes. Wow. Then he fixed the pipes and leaky connection and ran another bubble test. Professional, thorough and very nice. After this, I would be hesitant to hire Blanton again (the new pipes were $13k) but if they send Lou that would A-ok. Seriously, he’s awesome. Get the older guys when in comes to contractors - nothing like years of experience when it comes to the trades.

This is the third time I have hired J Blanton Plumbing on a new water problem. The first time was last year after both the sump and ejection pumps failed, filling the basement with several inches of water. The company is located in town. They responded quickly, assessed the problem and fixed the basement water problem over the course of several days. They dug a new sump pit, installed a new pump with battery backup and alarm. Then they patched all visible cracks in the 70 plus year cement foundation and installed a new drainage system around the house. Finally, they put up a waterproof membrane around the entire basement. They were incredibly communicative and responsive to all questions and explained their recommendations and work in an easy to understand manner.Since that major repair, I have called J Blanton to repair a leaking toilet, to figure out, then resolve dirty water coming up through the bathtub when the sink was being used, a slow draining sink in another bathroom and a toilet that would continue to run after flushing.J Blanton’s experts are excellent communicators, explaining the issues and the alternatives available to resolve the plumbing issues that necessitated the call to J Blanton in the first place.I highly recommend J Blanton and will not hesitate to call them in the future when a plumbing problem arises.

The process from beginning to end was fantastic. My plumber Taylor was prompt, kind, and informative without being condescending which I greatly appreciated. It can sometimes be a pain when a plumber is needed, but J. Blanton made it much easier to digest. Highly recommend!

Andrew and Kendell came, fixed my leaky toilet after explaining what they might expect to find. Very good work. I was happily surprised that I was able to get plumbers in the day I called. I was surprised at what I thought was expensive for the work done.I could be completely out of line. Service-wise, excellent.
