I needed my AC and furnace replaced and Sunset was amazing to work with. They accommodated my schedule, answered all of my questions, and made a bummer of an expense the best experience possible. Carlos and Jackson did the install — both were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The furnace required some troubleshooting to get everything working perfectly and Carlos was meticulous in problem solving that. Sunset surpassed expectations and I’m so glad I found them. Plus, just look at how purty that furnace is.

After my gas furnace of 22 years {from Sunset H&C} grew tired of working, I now get to realize my goal of putting an electric one in, and Im pretty happy. Cory is my contact for this endeavor, and I received from him something I thought wed left behind in the 90s: great customer service. Reread that--not good, not ok, but great. Very friendly, very personable, and of course, very knowledgeable. I was kind of taken by surprise by his check in with me, and he waited for me to get my head straight and wrapped around everything he was telling me, plus helped me w/financing {such a wonderful benefit they offer}, plus tailoring my wants with my needs with their products. We found what I think to be a perfect fit, its being installed tomorrow {how often does that happen?!}, AND its being recycled. VERY important to me. A good product with bad customer service equals a bad experience, in my eyes, so, what could have been a lousy start to the new year, really isnt so bad after all. And thats 100% on account of Corys excellent customer service.

McKenzie did an annual service on my furnace today. He was punctual, professional, and kind and explained everything well. He described important details of the furnace and let me ask questions and answered in a kind and respectful manner. He also made sure to put shoe covers on before going into our house which was a really nice touch. I’ve had other folks waltz right through with dirty feet and he had the foresight to put on the covers. I really appreciated that. I look forward to the duct cleaning later this winter and the AC service in the late spring. Thank you.

We lost our AC during a heatwave, July 4, 2024. NO! Called SUNSET the next day, they had Haydn & Juan out to us in less than 24 hours. Haydn made great recommendations that made sense for a really, really bad situation. Working with the SUNSET office team of Jessica, Hailey, & Madeline leading up to our installation was a MAJOR help. Plus, we got serious discounts applied. The install team of Julian & Ty... what can I say except they are the best. Answered questions big & small. Dug in & installed TWO units in one day. Their work was superb. Our dog Mustang liked them, too.

Eric Eccles from Sunset was great to work with. My 18-year-old furnace wasn’t functioning and Eric quickly diagnosed the problem and concluded that it needed replacement. Since I am in a condo, he discussed various options for replacement (due to HOA constraints). I was able to get my brand new furnace installed the very same day! Eric is knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and explained the process, product and pricing options. He also checked my air conditioner, which I may need to replace in a couple of years. I was impressed by Eric and Sunset, and I plan will use them again for my heating and cooling needs.

Sunset is an amazing company. We used them for our new house. They ran new natural gas lines and serviced and repaired our extremely old furnace. They made suggestion on replacing but never pushy. The communication from dispatching is perfect, the tech calls when they are on their way, and lastly they follow up after the job is completed. We have four different techs for different issues and every one is very friendly and patient as they explain the issues and repairs. These guys are amazing

Jamie was very professional, diagnosed the issue and gave me multiple options for repair and replacement. I never felt like I was being pressured into a solution and it was overall a great experience.Follow up!We opted for a new system (the last one was from 1992 it was time). Roman came out and did a very great job. He and his partner on the install were very professional, and respectful of our home. Austin, the Service Technician, was very personable and knowledgeable. He walked me through all the issues with my furnace and outlined multiple “fixes.” Due to the age of my furnace and the number of problems with the existing system, I opted to purchase a new furnace.Matt, the installer, came 2 days later and installed my new furnace. He did a fabulous job and left the area very clean. He was great to work with and now my house is on its way to becoming warm and toasty once again.Thank you Sunset !!!

He removed our old heat pump and installed a new one in about a half a day, much faster that I thought it would take, and everything worked the first time. Daniel came out to service the furnace that Sunset installed in 2023 in the house we just purchased last month. While there were a few scheduling snafu’s due to the holiday, he provided excellent customer service and education! 100% professional, kind, and patient. Since we had to wait for rescheduling due to some sick calls after the holiday and experienced some frustration with that, he brought us a hot Starbucks and gift card in kindness& consideration.We were so comfortable with Daniel, in fact, that we signed up for the yearly service plan and plan to ask for for him by name for any future work that we need with Sunset. Could not recommend him any higher! 10/10 technician. Much appreciation!

Isai came out to respond to a maintenance call but ended up doing several hours of diagnostics with me. While I am concerned about Sunset’s pricing on future work I may need done, the tech was punctual, friendly and thorough. As well as honest and cooperative. I may not use Sunset to resolve my issue but I would hope any tech I deal with in the future would provide the level of service Isai Ubaldo did during his time with me and my family at our home.

My AC finally died after 25 years in September and i woke up one October morning to no heat. Austin was out same day and all though it could all be repaired, it was time for new, energy efficient ones. There were multiple payment options - but the 0% interest for first 12 months and a small down payment made it much more feasible. Quick signatures and a new furnace and ac unit were purchased. The next day Roman and his teammate were out installing them! All in all whole process was complete in 36 hours. Professional, efficient, and courteous. Sunset Heating and Cooling did a great job for me! My furnace was 18 yrs old and wasn’t working. Austin was the tech that came out to do the inspection. I had been hoping to just get it repaired but the part needed would have been very expensive and in the end I would still have a very old furnace. He got me different options for a new furnace and then they were able to install it the next day! He was very helpful and answered all my questions and I felt good about moving forward. Veniamin and Daniel came out to install it and they were also great to work with. They laid down drop cloths on the areas they were working in and areas where the floor might get scuffed up as they brought equipment in and out. Couldn’t be happier with the new furnace!!

I called after hours due to my HVAC system not heating, and Sunset was scheduled to come out the next day. Isai and Blake arrived to diagnose the issue, which occurred quickly. Our HVAC system is less than a year old and installed by another company, who was unable to come out for several days and is why we reached out to Sunset. Isai explained his findings of a large leak, and recommended going through our warranty with the installer due to cost. He was realistic in his recommendations and not doing a quick fix that wouldn’t hold us over to go through our warranty. I believe this lends itself to Sunset doing right by their customers and their honesty. We’ve also used their electrical services in the past and had a good experience.

From start to finish Sunset took care of our family when our 22 year old heater needed repair. Yasmine was wonderful taking our after hours call to get us all set up to be seen the next day. Dakota called first thing in the morning (7:15 AM) and gave us a great update and information on when the tech would arrive. We were able to be the first appointment of the day so that was extra convenient. Both ladies were friendly and reassuring.Jaime, the tech, communicated with us very well about when he would arrive. He offered to wear a mask and booties. Very respectful of us and our home. Jaime was on time, very professional, courteous, and a wealth of knowledge. Jaime answered all of our questions and showed us all our options. We feel that we can really trust Jaime as a HVAC experienced professional.Having one’s heater in need of repair is stressful. Thanh was the gentleman who came to fix my electrical panel and was awesome! To our surprise there was a small fire that had tripped my breaker, he found where it was and removed the old light and components. I didnt have an extra lighting unit sitting around, who does, but he set it up so I can put a new light in whenever I found one or gave me the option for him to come back out and do it. I initially had a less positive experience with the first tech Sunset sent, but they were kind enough to send a second out to for second look and better informed me about the cooling issue I was having. Eric was incredibly kind and helpful, and I felt like the service was quite exceptional. He answered all my questions and really just went above and beyond on everything he touched. Things happen, but a company that goes out of its way to make thing right deserves recognition and respect. I definitely would be happy to have Eric come out the next time I need service done.

We had scheduled our heater maintenance. We also have an HRV unit in the attic. Due to some scheduling trouble, we had a technician who does not have experience with HRVs. He did a great job servicing our heater and was able to set up a an appointment with the HRV expert right away. So while had some trouble with scheduling, the technicians have al been wonderful.Update: the HRV installation was a breeze. A couple weeks later Spencer came to clean the ducts. Excellent service all around!

He took the time to go through all the options available to correct the problem and worked with me to decide what was best for me within my budget. I am greatly satisfied with Jamie in his friendliness and his professionalism and looking forward to continue working with him and Sunset Heating . I will update review when repairs are done. Today Jake came out and did the repairs and I am up and running. Jake was also a pleasure to work with. He was on time and got the work done quickly and efficiently. Jake checked to make sure it was all working correctly and also cleaned up everything. We called Sunset heating and cooling late Sunday night and they were able to get us in early Monday morning. We were having an awful exhaust smell that was wafting back into our house and we were concerned about possible CO2 issues.Eric came out and was pleasant from start to finish. He listened and addressed our concerns. Quickly diagnosed the issue and explained why it was happening in a way we could understand. Our 2009 furnace was just at the end of its life. Even so, Eric went over all of our options with the utmost detail all while being so friendly. We also finally added central air which we’ve been wanting to do for quite a while. Eric must have a guardian angel on his shoulder because after trouble shooting every possible angle of our problem he took one last look at the thermostat which all of a sudden stopped working. The condensation pump had failed while we were discussing all the details, before he left and he was able to replace it. A one in a million occurrence. Not only that, he split several pieces of wood that I was preparing to stack so we can keep warm in power outages when the heat pump cant work! Talk about full service!

This review is for my most recent experience with Sunset, specifically with Taylor. I recently had Sunset out to remedy a problem with their previous installation of my furnace 2 years ago. Taylor was professional and efficient. He quickly diagnosed the issue and created an easy solution so that my furnaces condensation lines wouldn’t freeze when the weather drops below 32 degrees. He also installed a Pristine Electrostatic filter to help with dust and allergens.I had to have them out previously and the issue was never resolved, resulting in our lines freezing and our furnace not working last year during the freeze. Taylor seems to have resolved this issue and I am very happy with his work and customer service.

Below you will find the recent review I posted. This week I was contacted by Haniel and we went over my concerns. He assured me that they are working on improving them. Since the work I have had done in past times has been good, I am going to trust it will continue to be. They are coming out on November 20 to provide me a natural gas hook up and tie in to my electrical box for a new portable generator I bought. Hopefully it will go well.In the past I have had fair luck with Sunset Heating. A few years ago they installed a new furnace and air conditioning unit for me. And I have always taken out their service agreement for these. This year I am noticing a huge problem of communicating with them and with their intercommunication.After being without power for five days last winter, this past summer I decided to look into getting a generator for my house. Since I have natural gas, my idea was to get a portable generator that would run on that, (a tri fuel) and large enough to possibly run the whole house. I inquired with Sunset about setting me up that I could wheel the generator to the front of my garage (outside) and they could provide me with a natural gas hook up there and a connection to my electrical box in the garage. They sent a guy out who recommended I purchase a 12,000 Watt Generator. He wrote up a bid for that size generator. The bid was around $5,000. I was hoping I could get this all done for under $10,000, including the generator. So far so good.I was concerned this would not be enough to run all that I wanted to run. So I looked for a 20,000 Watt one. But I could not find a tri fuel one in stock anywhere.About a month later, in late August or early September, a woman from Sunset called me to set up the install date. She wanted to confirm that I was going to get a 12,000 Watt generator. I told her I had decided to go bitter. She told me they would need to rebid the install.About a week later, Haniel called me. Apparently, he is the big boss. I told him I didnt want a permanent stand alone home generator, as that would double my budget, I wanted a portable one but could not find it in stock. He told me he would search his sources for me.Around two weeks later, I got a call from NW Natural. They needed to come and inspect my gas to make sure I had the appropriate lines for the generator.The guy came out and told me that my existing gas line could only handle 180,000 BTU. I started checking the generators and the only one I could find that would meet that demand was a tri fuel for 11,500 Watts. To put in a larger line would mean tearing up the street and would add thousands of dollars onto my project.I called Sunset and explained everything. I told them that I was going to go ahead and buy an 11,500 Watt generator because my house was not set up with a large enough gas line to accommodate anything larger. I asked them to communicate this to Haniel.About four days later, I got a call from someone at Sunset, telling me they needed to rebid my project since I was going to be getting the 20,000 Watt generator that Haniel had located for me.I told the woman that the original bid should be fine as I had gone ahead and purchased a 11,500 Watt one.I feel like Haniel should have told me about the limitations of the gas line to begin with. At the least he should have pointed out that I might want to double check the gas line, that it might need to be upgraded at a huge cost. And it seems the message I gave the receptionist about having bought the smaller unit never got to him.Earlier in the summer, I purchased the service plan for the coming year and scheduled my winter check up for my furnace that was to happen today: 11/1/2024 between 10 and 3. I called around 11:00 to see if they could give me an estimate when they were coming today. We contacted Sunset H&C for an estimate to install a whole house generator. Mario Valdez was the representative they sent. I found him to be very engaging and knowledgeable and thorough. He has not been with the company for very long. Was quite honest if/when he didn’t know the answer to a question. He would research it immediately and get right back to us with the answer. He never acted rushed and was not impatient or annoyed with our questions ( unlike some other companies we’ve used). I would be happy to see him again. With regards to Sunset the company, they have been good about price transparency and keeping us updated regarding arrival times. Some of my friends have felt overcharged or tricked into unexpected payments, but that has not been my experience. Like many companies, staffing is an issue, abd Sunset is no exception. We have never seen the same person two times in a row ( unlike 5-10 years ago, and yes we have been customers that long). It therefore falls to me to provide the service history or appliance history, which can be a challenge sometimes. Overall, I personally have no complaints with Sunset H&C and I am not looking to change companies.

Gas leak issue…Impressive- they saw this review and jumped on things to fix it - kudos for making it right.——-original post——-called them to ask them to come out to double check their furnace install. Was told they had no way to come out for a month. I pressed the issue and the scheduler asked and said still had to wait a week. The lack of care for safety is unfortunate. This can’t be an irregular occurrence.

Edit- Sunset reached out to me recently because they have made some changes and wanted to make my maintenance experience right. There had been confusion about how many units we had and they listened and double checked their notes to make sure there wouldn’t be any issues going forward. We agreed to have a tech come out and do annual maintenance service that was over due. The tech was absolutely wonderful, friendly explained things well and went to work. This has really changed my opinion of Sunset and I look forward to working with them again.Sunset came out to do annual maintenance on our mini split system. We had never worked with them prior to this. We had been using Morrison Heating and Cooling for maintenance and they did a wonderful job. Morrison was very thorough and charged a reasonably rate for the service. However, I can not say the same for Sunset, who bought Morrison. $358 for the tech to come, spend an hour doing surface level maintenance and tell me I need to spend another $1,200+ to actual have the units maintained. I understand some of the internal units need a deeper cleaning and its reasonable additional service would be required. That doesn’t excuse the lack of service we received for this maintenance call. The outside units still had leaves in the tray and the backsides were covered in buildup. I could of done a better job with my shop vac. The tech was nice and maybe they do better with full system installation. Lesson learned and we will be looking for new company to do annual maintenance.

On my last 2 calls, one of which was a no heat situation, more senior techs were needed, which resulted in a lengthy delay. Shout outs to Eduardo and Derek who came up with long-lasting solutions, particularly Derek: he was not only extremely knowledgeable but he was great at communicating what was going on.

25 June 2024 — Craig did an excellent job rewiring from the outside unit to the thermostat and cleaned the evaporator coils. Craig exceeded our expectations and ensured we were satisfied. Solid 5 stars!7 July 2024. Jaime Cochrane came out for an emergency service. Jaime found a blown capacitor and compressor issues. Jaime was able to replace the capacitor and “jump-start” the compressor. Jaime suggested replacing the 20+year-old unit. As we were already discussing a replacement, we went ahead and agreed and put the 1/2 down. As we agreed to replace the unit, Jamie did not charge for the service. Outstanding service. 6 out of 5 stars.11 July 2024. Original install was set for 17 July 2024. However, a cancellation allowed them to install it on 11 July. The new machine is so much better than the dinosaur it replaced. Casey Crawford exceeded expectations19 December 2024. Time for Winter tuneup. Hayden was prompt and on time. There was not much to do as the unit is not even 6 months old. Hayden insured the furnace lit and blower was operating at capacity. Thank you, Hayden, for a job well done.
