    My husband and I wanted a new office/half bath/shed/deck built in our backyard. We began conversations with Kelly/FXD Construction to figure out a timeline and worked with an architecture firm and engineer to get the schematic drawings underway. We worked with an arborist as well, and the plans ultimately changed when we couldnt dig near our large black walnut tree. My husband and I handled readying to backyard by removing pavers, sand, a small tree and a cement slab in summer/fall 2022.In Oct/Nov 2022 Kelly had the structure marked out in our yard. Because of the tree roots, a traditional foundation wouldnt work, so he/they had custom steel beams made, which were suspended in six cement cylinders and welded in field. The holes and trenches were dug and cement poured in February 2023. Glulam beams, bathroom plumbing (plumbers), framing, doors, windows, skylight and the roof (framing crew) were all completed in March.The first round of electrical was in early April. House wrap and siding were on by the end of April and my husband and I did the masking, exterior paint and trim the final weekend of April. (We were able to help with a few things to save a little money.)May brought insulation, plywood flooring, sheetrock, mudding, sanding and texturing. My husband I painting the ceiling, and stained the skylight cedar framing. We moved onto the interior walls in May. In June, Kelly installed the hardwood floor and the framers came back to rough out the deck.A/C unit install (take 1...not our fault), more electrical in June (canned lights in the overhang, sink water heater) and a crew came to install the tongue and groove - Kelly and I stained them. Kelly readied the bathroom and put up cement board for the tile. He also built the fence next to the structure and along our house and installed the interior trim, which we painted at the beginning of July.Mid July was our previous shed tear down, bathroom vanity install, deck stairs and finish deck build, gate constructed, and my husband and I assembled and placed the murphy bed + couch combo.August was crunch time as we were getting everything finished for our first guests. My husband and I installed blind, the TV mount, and sanded and stained the deck -- again, things we said wed do to save on cost. Kelly finished out the base of the structure with lattice. The bathroom got tiled (the person who did our kitchen), and it was officially broken in mid August.At the end of August, my husband and I leveled our yard, laid grass seed, installed the smoke detector... and we passed final inspection in September.Kelly handed all the permits, managing refunds, bills, timelines and always communicated really well about when hed be there, if there was a delay. I also really appreciate that helped us understand and make decisions that the architects included in the plans that we didnt want or realize (custom door size, custom skylight). Hes organized and on top of keeping things moving and staying on schedule -- as well as you can when you cant control everything and everyone else.My husband and I were really pleased with the process and are ecstatic with the end result. It wasnt 100% according to initial plan but we were able to work together and find solutions as things came up along the way.*I know Im forgetting a lot of elements -- gutters, venting,and a bunch of other stuff, and I probably didnt get all the terms right, but I tried! :)Were working with him again soon on a custom shed to match our office, and have recommended him to friends, and a few of them are working with him or have completed projects already.

    We had a positive experience with FXD Construction from start to finish. Kelly is a great communicator and was very responsive to our needs as clients. Our project- a finished garage and added half-bath- completed on time and on budget despite an ice storm interrupting! Like with most remodeling projects, there were unexpected surprises and Kelly took them all in stride.FXD Construction found us a designer, handled permitting, and coordinated with all the various trades, making our lives ten times easier and saving us time and money. The contract he used was easy to understand and clearly laid out what to expect and when to expect it.FXD will be our go-to for the next project. 5/5- would recommend.

    I cannot recommend FXD Construction enough. We’ve worked with Kelly on two projects now. He delivers quality work, on schedule and estimate, and we are very happy with the results. When the lumber yard ran into a supply chain issue and could not provide the fence boards we had selected, Kelly was pro-active and clear in communication around our options to move forward. Highly recommend.

They were very collaborative during the project. When there was an unexpected issues they worked with us to find a reasonable cost solution.     Our old home had a pretty urgent case of deteriorating porch, and Kelly really came through for us. In short: Five-stars, Two-Thumbs-up, and Highly recommend.The long version: When it came to our project... Kelly was responsive and honest (yet realistic) in his diagnosis. He was prompt in getting us an detailed estimate, and communicative with booking. And finally he was reliable, communicative and efficient with the project itself, getting it completed to a much better level than it had been built in the first place.Dare I say it... I kinda feel like we found the unicorn: a local, independent builder who is also highly skilled, professional as well as a well-rounded, agreeable person. Kelly will be first on our list to call when it comes to home building/repairs.
