EXCEPTIONAL!I didn’t know such a service existed until I needed one and I found the BEST! After a misdiagnosis from a bad plumber, I had to find out where the leak was. And Carl, from American Leak Detection came out and went right to work! He was armed with the right equipment to get in there and find the leak and he did! What a relief!It didn’t stop there, they also do plumbing, so I also used them to fix the leak. Travis, the plumber came right in and replaced and repaired and now my 30 old shower is better than builder specs! He even added a new faucet and shower head too! Travis said I was a couple of months from a major water damage issue!American Leak Detection Company is now my ONLY contact when it comes to plumbing needs! We recently had foundation repairs done on our home, our service provider recommended American Leak Detection for the post-repair inspection. Scheduling my initial appointment was easy. Wes arrived on time and conducted a thorough inspection. His communication was exceptional — he kept me informed of his findings and made sure to address all my questions (I had many). Ultimately, a repair was necessary. Wes communicated each step of the process clearly and concisely. I appreciated his work ethic and found him to be both refreshing and reliable. Travis was awesome! He quickly found our water leak in the foundation beam. He dug up in the flower bed, jack hammered some garage floor. He quickly fixed the leak. Replanted the bushes and repaired the garage floor. He did a great job cleaning up. It’s rare to find trust worthy repair companies these days. I highly recommend American Leak Detection for any water leak or plumbing issues you have. The repair costs were very reasonable.

We recently had a hot water line leak under our house slab. Our insurance told us that they would pay for the leak detection and asked us to contact the American Leak Detection Company. Justin came to our house on time and listened to me explaining what happened. Then Justin went about and ran some water pressure test and with a listening device and located the leak then he marked the location inside and outside the house. We are lucky that the leak was very close to the exterior wall. Justin explained how to go about fixing the leak and answered all my questions patiently. We had 2 other plumbing companies came but weve decided to go with ALD since they located the leak.They arrived before 9am on a Monday and started digging, they kept the digging area very neat and did not put any dirt on my neighbors lawn. It took them almost 5 hrs of digging and found the puncturedpipe. Tuesday the plumber came and repaired the pipe then after the city approved the repair. By Thursday afternoon the excavation crew came and put the dirt back. We are happy with the repair from ALD and Justins performance, he even helped me tighten up my exterior hose bibb. He also responded to my questions thru text in a timely manner. The only thing that I wondered was theres a pile of dirt from the excavation that was not able to put back into the ground and they hauled it away.

I have used ALD 2 or 3 times in the past and have always been very satisfied with their work. This time, as in the past, the technician who tested for leaks and did the repair work was polite, knowledgeable and very efficient. My problem was with the scheduling and customer service end of the transaction. I received the authorization form to electronically sign for the $550.00 charge to test for leaks prior to the technician doing the work and the authorization form to electronically sign authorizing the actual work to be done (in the amount of $1,425.00) after the technician had completed the work and I had paid for it. I was told that I would receive a receipt for both payments ($550.00 and $1,425.00) by email after I had paid but never received them. I was also told I would receive a written estimate of all work recommended, and associated costs, as a result of the leak testing, but I didnt receive that either. I called and left a voice message requesting the receipts and written estimate (everyone was either on the phone with a customer or away from their desks); but I have not heard back from anyone. Because of the particular nature of the leaks and repair I would like to have a written copy of what the technician told me for future reference. I called one prior time to request the receipt for the initial testing and the estimate and was told they had been emailed to me. I never received them. Its interesting to me that I received both authorization requests via email but didnt receive the other items requested. I believe ALD is a good company providing quality work. I also think their workload has compromised their ability to provide the same level of customer service they have provided in the past. My concern is that if there is a problem with the repair, all I have is an approval to do the work and a credit card statement showing that I paid for the work. But I dont have any confirmation of the actual work performed. So, it could be a dispute between what I remember hearing the technician say and what the technician remembers saying.

The technician arrived early to the appointment; he explained the procedure. His assistant arrived and they began the work. Both men wore protective coverings on their shoes whenever in the house. When they finished, he told me the results - no leaks in the slab or the yard, just a faulty toilet in the guest bathroom. I will take care of this with my regular plumber. I am very happy with their findings.

Could be a five star but I think they may be trying to do too much with too few people. It took 10 days to come out to do the inspection while I was trying to keep the pool full and clean the whole time. Inspection and inspector were on time and professional. He found 2 problems that needed to be addressed but they can not come and do the repair for 3 weeks. Pool leaks worse after the inspection probably from the process of detecting the leak. I’ll leave another review after the repair. The company representative and the tech that came out were both very nice and professional.

American Leak Detection fixed my difficult to remedy problem. My technician Dean Youngblood was particularly helpful. He supervised the work crew, explained things to me as they progressed, and took care of details such as removing their shoes when they needed to come inside my home. Once finished, they cleaned up everything and returned things to “back to normal” condition. My fix was more complicated than originally anticipated, but Dean Youngblood did not give up but was able to find a solution that involved the least amount of damage to my home. If needed I would use them again.

Called several leaked detection specialists. ALD had me scheduled out a few days but I wanted a sooner evaluation. When I asked for a callback if they had any cancellations, they were able to work me in earlier and were accommodating. Marcus was then able to find the source of my leak in the bathroom so we could stop further damage. This also allowed my insurance claim to move forward more quickly. Happy they were able to get me in sooner the way they did. Hope I never have to use them again, but if I had to I would.

ALD, and I want to specifically call out Wes, did an absolutely world-class job with our catastrophic plumbing failure. We purchased a home that had cast iron sewage/drainage pipes and the main feed to the street (where all interior feeds converged) collapsed, leaving us with no drainage. ALD found the issue with a camera, tunneled 20’+ under our home, identified the precise location and re-plumbed everything. The work was clean, well-documented (helpful for insurance purposes), and handled professionally at every inch. He even found, and showed us, some other areas where the previous plumber had failed to connect the kids’ bathtub drain spout to the actual drainage pipe (it was hanging above like some carnival game) and failed to prime/cement two simple pieces of PVC together during the master bath remodel the old owners had done. He quickly repaired these issues, with pictures and videos as proof, and put home is back to 100% functionality. I cannot recommend these folks highly enough.

The two experts showed up on time, diagnosed the problem, and showed us how we can turn off the feeds to the two leaking pipes. This would allow us to still use the rest of the water features without losing water. If they repaired the leaks it would have been a difficult and expensive repair to remove cemented stones. We elected to just disable the two leaks. They were very knowledgeable and courteous. I would recommend them.

We were very impressed with Brad and American Leak Detection. Brad thoroughly inspected the pool, inside and out even when the water was 65 degrees. He identified the issue on his first visit, then we were able to get scheduled relatively quickly for the repair. On the repair, he found the leak under our pool decking, dug down to it, repaired the pipe, and then filled and patched the pool decking. We hope our pool leak days are done, but we know who we will call if we need assistance with leak detection! Thanks Brad!

American Leak Detection (ALD) came out promptly and diagnosed my water leak location and excavated a tunnel underneath my foundation to reach and repair the leak. The leak was in a copper pipe embedded in a foundation beam so they had to do a partial rerouted of the copper pipes to build a new manifold. ALD took care of the required inspections.

I kept getting notifications from the city saying that I have a leak. Plumbers came out and couldn’t find it. Matt from ALD of Dallas came out and found 2 areas with his device. The leaks are very close to an electrical box located outside which is very hard to hear with the humming sound but he found them. Detail report was provided. Problem now fixed and no more leaks. Great job Matt!

Its terrible when you have a break in your sewer line. ALD found it, showed it to me, and verified that there were no other leaks in a very timely manner. It cost more than I hoped, but they did not hem and haw about what needed to be done and what the repairs would cost. I would say my leak was a difficult challenge on many fronts, but American Leak stood behind their service and came out again to run some more tests. Carl and James were off the charts knowledgable and patient with their process. It took a couple hours more but they finally were able to isolate and mark the spot. I have been dealing with this for about 3 months and it is true ALD is the best and man they stood behind the service and guarantee. They get it right is their motto IMO. Unfortunately we have needed ALD services twice in the last 3 years. As with our first leak in our foundation ALD promptly came out and diagnosed our issues. The job was schedule quickly and the company responded swiftly. Everyone involved in the repair was very good and after the repair was completed, the cleanup done outside where they had to tunnel in under the slab is hardly noticeable.In addition, all office personal were always responsive and knowledgeable about answering our questions. We had a slow leak in our pool following the harsh Texas summer. I contacted ALD from a referral of my cousin who also used them a few years ago after a snowstorm. We found them easy to contact, easy to communicate with and very responsive. They set appointments which included both phone and email notifications to confirm. I received a text when the technician was on his way and he arrived just as scheduled. They repaired the leak and after leaving you could not even tell there had been a problem. All dirt and brick work was put back in place and not an empty wrapper or PVC pieces could be found. Extremely happy with ALD service, personnel and the efficient way they handle their business.

I had a technician start work on under slab leak, but needed excavation crew to get through a thick piece of concrete at pipe. Leak found, but pressure caused another leak, more excavation and replaced 6ft water line. Started October 31st and ended on November 10th. Little unhappy that office took the liberty to charge $3700. more to a credit card I had used earlier, after I said not sure which form I would use for final payment. This amount was charged before the job was completed.

Their estimates for repair were far more in keeping with the local market rates.American Leak Detection identified, documented and presented the Problems as well as multiple solutions w different price ranges in a colored report with actual pictures of the problem. Each Solution Option detailed steps necessary to resolve the problem along with associated costs.Once the job was done, testing completed and signed off on, a summary report was provided along w the warranty, documenting the work in its multiple phases… we have used AMERICAN LEAK DETECTORS for four separate leaks now. Each time we were pleased with the professionalism and knowledge of both their onsite and administrative personnel.. There is no other company to call when you have a pool plumbing problem.

In July they replaced our entire sewage plumbing and their whole crew was awesome, the master plumber explained everything very clearly and we didn’t go without a bathroom the whole repair. Last week they repaired a pool plumbing leak and once again everything was explained clearly and the work was first class. After both repairs the cleaned all the debris and patched the concrete holes made to do the repairs. I would definitely call American Leak Detection again.

Outstanding service! We had a leak under our house for over a year and tried two other plumbing companies to detect the leak - which both were unable to do! The second company suggested we contact American Leak Detection because they have better equipment for locating hidden leaks. The gentlemen who came out were extremely professional and worked really hard to locate the leak which, as it turns out, was extremely hard to locate since it was in the cement!! One of the men then came back to repair the leak and they did an outstanding job. Even though this is a big company, their prices were the best. I would recommend them if you have lots of money :)They did amazing work, but it was super expensive! We had a 40 foot supply line replaced for a total cost of $4,148 (not including the $295 to locate leak). That included $1,755 for trenching and and backfill, an *additional* $455 *each* for the access pits at each end (that were basically done as part of the trenching), and $470 for city inspection, among other line items. The trenching crew put in a total of about 11 man hours, and the plumber about 4 hours. So obviously overhead is by far the biggest portion of the bill!On the positive side, the trenching crew did excellent work, cutting out sod squares and putting those along with removed dirt on plastic sheeting. Five sprinkler pipes and our Internet cable ran across where they needed to trench, and they only accidentally damaged one sprinkler pipe, which they repaired before leaving! They put yellow caution tape around everything, and pieces of plywood to cover parts of the trench close to the sidewalk and our walkway. They put everything back together beautifully.Javier, the plumber, was fantastic! Very knowledgeable, great attitude, willing to explain things. The office would text when he was on his way, saying Javier, your American Leak Detection specialist, is on his way...When he arrives, be prepared for efficient service with a smile! And that is exactly what we got! (Another technician who came for the leak detection, not so much...)

Ive used American Leak Detection a couple of times. First occasion was to look for an issue in the outside of house for a potential leak we were concerned about. Jeromy identified a spot in the sewer line where something was penetrating the pipe. The area was dug up and the sewer line fixed. We had American Leak Detection to come out and assess the leak in our pool. It took the technician more than a couple visits to detect the leak. That was fine. In the process of fixing the leak, the pipe to the water supply in the pool was damaged, at the hands of the technician. We noticed it that same evening, and called them. They came out a few days later, and fixed the pipe but in the wrong way, not like the original- so that the skimmer basket could not be taken out. When i called the technician, he said that it was an easy fix, we could just cut the pipe ourselves and put in a new joint. When you pay a $1000+, it is a reasonable expectation of a customer to get the job done properly is it not? So after a few more phone calls, and an email correspondence with pictures, another technician was sent out, who just came out and cut the pipe. So we still do not have the water supply pipe into the pool as it functioned before, and will not be able to use it at this point. After leaving 4+ messages to have the manager call me back, i have yet to receive a return phone call addressing our problem. If the technician said it is an easy fix, i do not understand why it cannot be done by them, as they are the ones that caused the damage. This has taken up a lot of time, and we are really disappointed with the customer service. Poor service and follow thru.Addendum: so first I had given ALD a one star review, but changing to a 5 star due to the corrective action they took in the matter, in addressing my needs. Received a call from James after this review. He came and looked at the work, and easily fitted the pipe joint on the pool pipe. He also sent a senior technician to redo the patch. I appreciate that they were fair and did right by me as a customer. If/when there is a leak, we will call them out again. Thank you.

American Leak Detection (ALD)- Leak detection appt. was within a day of contacting them. Quickly and accurately identified a slab leak. ALD provided multiple options for repair based on access and pricing.Scheduled the repair, which was estimated to take 1 to 2 days. The only concern was scheduling the repair was a week out. However, it was a hot water leak and did not require the water be turned off so it was a minor inconvenience. Arrived on time about 9am, worked quickly. They minimized the access sites to reduce post-repair renovation costs. They even ran into one issue that was quickly resolved and fixed. Completed the repair by around 4pm so about 7 hours from start to finish, actually 6 with a lunch break.Cleanup well done. The required inspection set up within 2 days. Excellent experience. This team deserves a sincere review writing effort from a never-review writing person like me. Long story short, a very slow meter movement, almost unrecognizable but steady, was pointed out by an inspector. 3 different plumbers came, vaguely suggested replacing valves here and there around the house, which cost me 1,500 bucks anyway in total, none of them able to find cause of possible leaks before running away. Frustration was understatement as it was by then almost a deal breaker after signing contract and all.As last resort, I reached this company. I called 8:30 in the morning, and by 10 am, Brian was at my door step. He was calm, professional, found the cause of meter movement - which was never a leak - and stopped the meter just in an hour. As easy as that!You cant imagine what kind of nightmare previous plumbers - including big name ones - gave me over the past 2 weeks. They mentioned something like digging up the ground, tearing walls, or repipe around the house, you name it, when the actual cause was something as minor as water filter under the sink. American Leak Detection came to the site, thoroughly investigated the conditions and determined the most likely location of the suspected leak. Fortunately for us, they were able to access it from the exterior of the home by excavating back a short distance under the grade beam. ALD secured the necessary city permit and the excavation was accomplished on a Wednesday; the repair crew arrived that Friday, found the source of the leak (a tiny hole in the house main copper water line) and made the repair. The repair passed the city inspection and after that the earthwork crew returned to backfill the excavation. ALD came back after that to verify that the water pressure was satisfactory. All in all, they provided excellent service and we are very satisfied with the result.

This process was about as simple and seamless as one could hope for. During the scheduling I was given a date that was confirmed with a 2 hour window the day before that date. I was notified by text message that Chase was on the way within that window and he arrived about 15-20 min later. Chase was clean, professional and courteous. We took him to the area where the water was being observed and he quickly diagnosed the suspected origin to be a leaky gasket in our shower. He followed up with a pressure test that further supported his diagnosis. He then gave us all the info we needed to fix the issue since American Leak Detection does not do exterior hardware replacements and left the house as clean as when he entered. All told he was at our home for under an hour and we now have a point of origin and resolution plan for the leak.

Justin came out quickly and was able to pinpoint the area of the leak, and explain options to access the area to make necessary repairs. Justin coordinated tunneling under the slab to access the leaks, replaced a section of pipe, and backfilling tunnel once complete. All of the staff working on this project were very knowledgeable, professional and a pleasure to work with. Conducted camera inspection of complete sewer system. Found and documented 4 separate breaks and blockages. Tunneled over 60 under slab, replaced damaged pipes, re-tested system, had system inspected and replaced and refilled tunnels. Job was done completely in 8 days with very little disruption to occupants. Upon completion, it was hard to even tell that they had been there! I highly recommend this company.

Don’t waste your time researching different leak detection companies out in the metroplex. Go with the most recognized and trusted. Tony - pool specialist was able to quickly diagnose the problem and offer a solution. Extremely knowledgeable, polite, and responsive. Price is competitive and fair. So far I feel great about my decision to trust ALD. More later when my pool is fixed. On a side note this is officially my 4th leak detection in 6 years... hopefully my last.

Trevor came to do the test. He is honest. After he asked some questions how much water was lost, he explained it could be due to the natural evaporation. He suggested to me to save money, to do bucket test for $125 instead of full leak test for $425. I told him I did bucket test myself few years ago but I thought it was not accurate since I couldn’t measure it accurately, and to have a peace of mind, I still wanted a full leak test. He did that and the result was no leak detected. But he still offerred doing a bucket test with no extra charge just to have another proof. He came a few days later setting up the bucket test, and came to check it next day. But I forgot to turn off automatic refill, and water was refilled previous night. He is kind enough to reset the bucket test and come the next day. I highly recommend him and the American Leak Detection of Plano! — Jonathan Wang
