Very pleased with the quality and workmanship J&RS construction company recently completed at my house. They removed the rotted railing and privacy fence and power washed my composite deck. The new railing they installed is bright and clean looking, really adding a new fresh design to my deck. The crew were very respectful of my property and cleaned up like no one had been there. Bailey kept me updated on weather delays and communication was excellent among the whole team.

By pure luck we chose J&RS to pour some love into our recently purchased brownstone. From the initial consult, through the design process, to me saying a few too many time, oh, and can we do this thing over here too...? to the actual work and craftsmanship done, we couldnt be more pleased with the work done by J&RS and their team. Any time we had a question or concern, we heard back immediately. We still have a bit of work to do on our old victorian girl, and we plan to call J&RS to complete it.Update: Yesterday we found ourselves in need of help when our roof started leaking after the prior day’s deluge. I called first thing in the morning, someone was on the roof by mid morning, and the issue was fixed by day’s end. I am feeling thankful and relieved after the bounty of yesterday’s help:)

We had a kitchen design done by the help of Jeannifer! From start to finish it was a painless and awesome experience! Jeannifer was so helpful in many ways and was so patient in all of our requests! The communication was good and seemed like if one was busy another would respond in a timely manner! We are so very happy with our kitchen it has all that we would ever need! So far the quality of the Lucerne cabinets is great! We would use J&Rs Build again but hope that this will be our forever home:)

Had J&RS come and completely redo our plumbing at our property. We had been needing this to be done for quite some time, our hot water pressure was at an all time low and the pipes were likely as old as our house. J&RS were easy to contact and were able to schedule a time to get an estimate at the time of the first call. Marlin came out and spent about 2.5hrs to go over the estimate and had it typed out and ready to go even before he left that same day. We agreed on a variation of the quote given to us and worked out scheduling the crew to come and get the job done. fast forward a few weeks and Mitch and his team of guys and gals were awesome. They showed up to our home at the proposed time on the agreed upon day and after a quick tour they got straight to work. They were efficient and were very polite when working in our home, even went as far as taking time to cover appliances and floors (washer, dryer, etc) with cardboard and drop clothes so that they would not damage anything. They were able to get the majority of the main lines and connections done on the first day so that we could use the water to our sinks, toilet and shower. They came back the next day to finish connecting the plumbing to the washer. Mitch even went above and beyond helping to trouble-shoot some remaining low hot water pressure in the kitchen and bathroom sink. After replacing two lines and back-flushing both fixtures he was able to clear little bits of debris/sediment that had clogged the fixture impeding the flow of hot water. We now have normal hot water pressure and could not be happier. We are very happy with the work that was done at our home. Thanks J&RS and team!

My washing machine was emptying into my laundry tubs and the tubs stopped draining, they were plugged. My kitchen sink was backing up into my dishwasher as the kitchen sink drained.My water was hard and yellow and my water heaters were extremely old and using too much electricity even though they are on off peak. Everything was really old; I wondered if it could be fixed and could I afford it.I heard about J&RS and they came to my home and walked through every challenge with me. I was impressed with their knowledge and creativity as they thoroughly examined the most reliable and cost-effective solutions.Then I met four impressive, multi-talented employees. I thrilled watching their expertise and collaboration. They were efficient, creative and calm. During our home inspection a problem was found with the foundation in the far wall of our attached garage. J&RS responded and within a few days we had a proposal and a signed contract with them. When they come to do an estimate, they stay until the estimate is ready to view. No waiting a month or more like some of the other estimates we have had.That alone impressed us. Everyone we dealt was very professional Communication during the project was excellent. We were always kept informed of the progress. The work was completed in about a week and has passed inspection We highly recommend J&RS build for any project you might have.

My simple phone photos dont do justice to the quality of their work or the feel of the space they created for us.My wife and I presented challenges to them, as well. Our goal was to keep the original charm of our late 1800s home while updating it to modern comforts and mixing in my wifes and my quirky style. Great crew! We just moved up to Duluth MN. Our realtor Korey referred me to Jace with J&RS. He is the contractor salesman. Jace made us feel welcome to the Twin Ports. He listened that we needed handicap accessible remodeling. He got his master tech plumber Marlin to install a washer hookup on the main level of the house. Marlin and his great crew of Tanner and Leo installed a one handle kitchen and bathroom faucet with expertise. We asked Jace one day and the next day the crew did the work with precision. The J&RS contractor salesman Jace and the expert plumbing crew if Marlin, Tanner and Leo made me and my family welcome home. We have used this company twice now, once a small project, and this past summer we did a larger remodel of our 20 yr old home. In the initial visit for an estimate, we gave them our wish list of projects, and after the estimate we planned to pare down the list. We decided to do it all at once, and had them here for 8 weeks. Since we are retired, we were here daily through the remodel, and they were very accomodating to us being around. They show up on time and clean up after themselves daily. At the end of the project, they even sent professional house cleaners for a final clean before a final inspection. A dumpster was emptied several times and they had an outhouse delivered to the site. The project managerNate, was easy to communicate with, and very responsive to any questions or changes. We would definitely recommend this company, and will use them for any further projects.

We have built 2 houses and have done extensive remodeling on these and other homes we have owned. J&R Sundberg has done two other projects for us in the past two years; a fireplace for our living room and a pergola on our deck. We were delighted with their work so there was no question who we would use to do a much larger project for us.This fall we hired them to build a large garage for working on antique cars.We have never experienced the level of professionalism, talent and sense of ownership on the part of the entire team that we have found with them. From the first meeting with Ray and working closely with Ty the process has been amazing. Their use of Co-Construct, a start to finish app that coordinates all aspects of communication regarding the project, makes the process go like clockwork. Questions can be answered; bids, change orders, and finishes can be approved without the usual game of phone tag; progress and activity can be tracked and daily photos of the project are shared.The project started the 28th of October and we were scheduled to be complete on the 8th of January. The only reason the schedule was not met was because we had 2 feet of snow Thanksgiving weekend followed by truly nasty weather a week later. It is the 12th of January as I write this and we are moving the Model T’s in today. The roof goes on on Wednesday. The stucco and the grading of the site will have to wait until spring but otherwise everything is complete.I, literally, have NEVER written a review of anything and that speaks volumes about how thrilled we are to have worked with J&R Sundberg.

I had JRS build me a garage in late fall in some pretty cold weather.Im not sure if the problems would have happened if it was constructed in the summer. Several nails missed their mark and daylight comes in near the floor in several spots. The garage door openning was not plumb and the sub they used to in stall did a bad job.

We had a great experience with J & RS. Chad Blomquist met with us to come up with a plan for replacing the decking on our two balcony decks and helping us decide what improvements could be made to our front porch. Chad was very thorough and was always willing to answer any questions that we had about our project. Tyler Hackwith and Luke were the technicians that did the work on our balcony decks and our front porch. They were both very hard workers, took their time to do a good job on our project, both worked well together as a team, Tyler was great about checking in with me at the beginning and end of each day and answering any questions that I had about our project. Were having some landscaping work done in our front yard so when thats complete Ill add a picture to my review of what our front porch looks like now. Were very happy with the work that Tyler and Luke did for us on our front porch and balcony decks. We will definitely call J & RS (Chad, Tyler & Luke) if we need any other work to be done in the future and will recommend them to a friend.

My house burned to the ground on Feb 3 2014. The insurance company listed it as a total loss and major claim. I was employed as an engineering manager and directly managed large capital projects exceeding $100MM.Based on my work experience fundamentally I was looking for a contractor to manage the entire construction process including:SCOPE/QUALITYSCHEDULEBUDGETAfter meeting with 3 of the well known local general contractors around Duluth I selected J&RS.My experience using J&RS:SCOPE: They were knowledgable during the design and were more proficient in designing than the architect I had hired. We managed the scope with the constraint of the insurance settlement. By defining a clear scope we experienced very few change orders for additions which increase the project costsSCHEDULE: We met weekly to review the upcoming construction activities and what selections/ decision I needed to make by which date. The insurance company planned on paying for temporary housing for 10 months. We started work in early March and moved in August 1. (6 months) This included demolition and debris removal and winter construction including foundations. One key is that J&RS has the working relationships with mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other sub contractors that eliminates hand off delaysBudget: We completed the construction on budget because of the well defined scope and minimal extras which are common with many contractors. We maintained the +/_ list of changesQUALITY: The materials and workmanship were outstanding. The home built is not a large fancy structure but is energy efficient with impressive wood work and quality material from heating and ventilating to windows.J&RS will not be your lowest cost contractor but will construct a high quality home and will avoid the unplanned expenses, delays and headaches so often experienced during the construction process.J&RS has the green light to have clients contact me directly for feedback.

Tyler was the lead builder who was so easy to work with and I appreciated how important it was to him that I was happy with everything done during the building process. He checked in daily with me! Austin, the project manager, worked hard on making sure every detail was completed to my satisfaction. He was always on top of everything! Unfortunately, my water heater went out on Christmas Eve this year (a Sunday, for context). I called JRS and got ahold of someone immediately for help/assistance. Loren from their staff was incredibly helpful! We spoke on the phone, and I first sent time a few photos to see if we could troubleshoot the problem. When it was clear the 20-year-old water heater needed to be replaced, he was at our home in a few hours (still in his Sunday best after attending mass), installed a new one, and removed the old one, saving our Christmas plans.Great team! - And again, thank you Loren
