I recently had a clogged sink, and Im very glad I called Richardson Plumbing. Never used David, but went off his great reviews, and they were spot on. The clog was cleared in no time, and he took extra care to ensure everything was functioning properly afterward. He even told me how to fix the low flow in my bathroom sink and I was able to quickly fix myself. The price was extremely reasonable. Ill definitely use Richardson Plumbing again for any future plumbing needs. Highly recommend!

I’m doing a diy kitchen install, I saw Dave’s truck at a stop light and knew I would need some help installing the plumbing so I took a picture of his truck and I’m so glad I did. Within two days he was at my house for a quote. He told me he would be able to do the work the next day. When he showed up in the morning I wasn’t quite ready and he said no problem he would come back… most plumbers or big companies would have had me reschedule but it was no problem for him. He came back with one of his partners Mike Harrison (with Harrison contracting). Mike noticed some stuff the previous owners had done that was not up to code and he fixed it with no issues. Dave installed the plumbing for my sink, dishwasher and fridge. Amazing craftsmanship, very affordable and most of all he cares. They don’t make many people like Dave anymore. I will call him for all my plumbing needs and anything else I need fixed in my house I will call him for recommendations because I know whoever associated with Dave Richardson will do it right.

This past Tuesday I had my hot water heater located in my attic replaced due to it being 14 years old. I did not want to wait until it sprung a leak or burst, that would be an headache and an expense. I was referred to Richardson Plumbing Co. David Richardson is a Master Plumber and Master Gas fitter is licensed and insured and has been in business 36 years. He was excellent, he arrived before my appointment, replaced my gas water heater in a few hours, made sure all sinks, bath tub and showers worked fine. It was a worry free experience. I am so glad I called him and he is the best. Do not hesitate to contact him for any of your plumbing needs .. you will not be disappointed. He is GREAT.

He gave me peace of mind! Woke up to find a water stain on the ceiling under where our water heater is located. We have already had 1 bad heater burst years ago and left us with a waterfall in our downstairs, so I feared this is where we were heading. Called around to plumbers and no one could come out for 2+ weeks. Called Richardson Plumbing and he came out on his way home from his last job site, assessed the damage, inspected my water heater, and assured me there would be no overnight waterfall. Thankful I could rest easy that night, he returned the next day as promised and found and repaired the leaky pipe. Professional, punctual, responsive, kind, and caring! Needed low water pressure assessed in our master bathtub for a house sale; David was friendly, communicative and responsive to our appointment request and worked us in the day after I initially called. He worked it up in about 5 minutes, gave us a couple of recommendations to assist with the issue, provided an invoice to show we had it inspected by a plumber as per the buyer’s repair request—-and then charged us nothing. You can’t get better service than that.

Dave is an absolutely great person and a highly skilled plumber. He was very knowledgeable and he was able to help me get the Job done incredibly fast. I had a problem with my sewage main and it was backing up on to my house. Within hours he was here to provide a quote and it was 1/3 of what Michael & Son’s quoted. I agreed to have him do the work and he had material on site the next day and an excavator the day. After that. He had the job completed within 3 days and he even replanted the bushes he had to remove. Dave is a great person and a honest hard working man who treats his customers like family. He is the only plumber I will ever use. I cannot give enough praise to him and his company.

3 February 2024On Monday 29 January 2024 I hired Richardsons Plumbing for a drainage back-up. At the end of the service call I talked with Dave about some additional plumbing work. See my previous review for details. He contacted me next day with an estimate and I agreed to hire him again.Fast forward to today. Dave arrived before lunch as promised and immediately got to work. He replaced a damaged out door spigot, changing from a soldered piping and valve to a threaded connection. This gives me the ability to change the valve myself by screwing off the old and screwing on the new without the possibility of damaging the piping and causing a leak. In my garage he changed out the spigot isolation valve which would not secure water to the out door spigot. Lastly he changed out the Pressure Regulator, regulator supply valve and added a second isolation valve to isolate the regulator from both sides. We now have constant water pressure in the house no matter how many, showers, sinks, toilets and faucets are in operation.Great Job again Dave, you have my business. I will pass the word about Richardsons Plumbing.29 January 2024Woke up this morning to toilets and tubs backed up. I contacted Richardsons Plumbing based on reviews and location to my residence. When I explained the situation to Dave he asked if I had contacted the City of Chesapeake, odd question I thought, my answer was No. He requested I call the city first to avoid an unnecessary service call bill from him, he explained that the city will check to sewer line from the street back to the city owned connection box/clean out in my front yard. Dave said If no blockage on the city side to call him back, he could be out today.I got lucky with the city of Chesapeake, they were at my house in 90 mins, unfortunately the blockage was on my end.I called Dave back requesting his services. He was at my house 60 minutes later and went to work. A few minutes of Dave using his Industrial size Auger/Snake and all the drains were running free. Crisis averted!I couldnt be happier with his performance. From the recommendation to contact the city first to avoid an unnecessary bill, his willingness to come out late afternoon to correct the problem and all the tips he provided along the way. I thought the bill for the service call and blockage removal was more than fair. In fact I showed him some additional plumbing work I would like addressed. He said he would draft an estimate and send it to me tomorrow. I would highly recommend Richardsons Plumbing to anyone.Dave you were a lifesaver today.

Updated March 2024:I have used Dave for all of my plumbing repairs since I moved to Chesapeake - hes a true master plumber that outclasses all of the big companies in the area and with better prices to boot. He recently replaced the water heater in my attic with a much better unit and pointed out to me all of the ways the previous one had been installed incorrectly and how to monitor and maintain the water heater so it lasts. He also replaced broken valves on my main water service line with a much better setup. Couldnt recommend him more highly.Richardson plumbing did an excellent job all around in the repair of my garbage disposal. The work was completed quickly and thoroughly. Id recommend Richardson plumbing for anyones plumbing needs.

Because of his high quality of work during snow storm and great customer service we hired him to install our city water and sewer system to the house. Dave said he could be to my house shortly; within 30 minutes he was at my house and got right to work. Friday, Dec 15 at 8:30pm it started raining in our kitchen. We thought the commode had run over, but that was not the case. It turned out a rat went between the walls and chewed a water line. In between my husband turning on and off the main cut off valve, it broke. At 10:36pm we looked up plumbers, hoping to find one that would be opened on Saturday. We saw Richardson Plumbing was opened on Saturday. We called to leave a message, to our surprise, Mr. Richardson picked up. He told my husband he would call us tomorrow when he got into his office, but there would be others before us. Mr. Richardson called at 8:00am the next morning to say he would be right over to replace the valve so we could have water, but he would have to come back later in the day to fix the problem because he had other customers before us. To find a plumber that would answer their phone at 10:36pm, and then come out of their way to change a valve, then come back later to fix the problem. Most would have come once when we were next on the list. To find a Plumber like this in 2023 is unheard of. Thank you Mr. Richardson! Amanda

---Update---May 2021David came back out without charge to repair the same water spigot that he installed five months ago. It was my fault breaking it because of going against his advise e for securing it (I used nail-anchors that were too big; he suggested using the spray foam and then cutting around it after about 3-5 days). It took about a week to get scheduled in but it was worth the wait. He again advised me on the proper procedure for securing the pipe to keep from spinning and didnt charge for a service call). David is the real deal when it comes to experience, customer service, and respect. He didnt give me a hard time about messing up the spigot and was able to salvage the spigot head the popped off the pipe. Thank you David for once again taking care of our residence.Jan 2021David responded to my call immediately and setup an appointment for a non-emergency repair service. He is kind, honest, and willing to try to repair before resulting to replacement (cost effective). He knows the local region and has done commercial and residential work for the last 30 years. You wont regret going with Mr. Richardson, he is a honest, hard-working family man and will take care of your family and business. Thank you David.-Side note, Ive only been in the region for a few years and used five plumbers from five different businesses - this was by far the best service (customer service, quality work, and price) - he beats them all from what we dealt with.

While he was here he also helped fix our outdoor faucet and gave me a lot of information of keeping my pipes healthy in the winter. Ive used Richardson Plumbing for a few different jobs now, and hell always be the first person I contact from now on. I tried to use a different company (A1) that offered emergency services because I had a mainline clog happen in the middle of the night.First and foremost, David does the work himself, so you know youre not at the mercy of whatever technician a larger company sends out.After a couple of days of headache from A1 Plumbing (technician couldnt clear clog, business staff had my info incorrect and didnt send me the correct documents), David was able to come out and fix the clog within about 30 minutes. Because of the condition of my clean-out, I had him install a new one to make clearing future clogs a non event.He installed the new clean-out at about 1/3 of the price quoted to me by A1. To be fair to A1, I removed all the shrubs and dug out the old clean-out and did most of the shovel work to help him get in and out quickly so that probably saved me in some labor costs.I cant speak highly enough of David and Richardson Plumbing. He got the job done right, quickly, and at a very fair price.

I am so thankful for David ! We found out we had a water leak from our heater on Christmas Day. I frantically started calling plumbers in the area hoping we could get on someone’s waiting list. Out of the eight plumbers I contacted, David was the only one to call me back. He asked where I was located and was over to our house immediately. This gentleman is what I aspire to! The first time he came was when I replaced a faucet and it would not work. He looked at it and said that the directions that I followed to the letter where wrong and made one adjustment and bingo, it worked! Then he refused to charge us, said he didnt do any work!So when we detected a gas leak he was our first thought and he didnt disappoint. Timely, honest and professional. Will be recommending him to those I care about and not to those I dont like. He is to good to have his time wasted!!!

First of all: Mr. Richardson is one of the nicest people Ive ever met.I had a leak behind my toilet and called Richardson Plumbing based on the reviews I read on Google. Mr. Richardson showed up on-time, was incredibly polite and professional, wore a mask (a big plus for our immune-compromised household), and was quick to diagnose and fix the problem. And HE REFUSED TO LET ME PAY HIM! He said it was such an easy fix that he didnt feel right charging me. WHO DOES THAT? People, this is the neighborly, small-town plumber that we dont deserve in our sprawling Hampton Roads region. Im so overwhelmed by his kindness that Im tempted to go around my house breaking pipes just to so I can have an opportunity to pay him for his services.

Not only did Mr Richardson hook it up correctly, but brought over a professional cabinet guy to make the required adjustments to make that happen. This is the second time Ive used his services, Im sure it wont be the last, and I cant imagine Ill ever use anybody else. 5 out of 5 service

Mr. Richardson is a skilled plumber. I first called on him back in 2012 for an emergency repair when a pipe burst in the ceiling. In June 2018 I called him back to replace my hot water heater. In May 2019 I called him back to repair some leaky faucets. His work stands up to the tests of time. He stands by his work and I respect that.
