All around positive experience. Prompt appointment with the very qualified and experienced estimator, Paul, who kept tabs on the boiler replacement job right to the end and afterwards. Cory did a meticulous job of installation, one I’d be proud to have done if I could have. The associated chimney flue placement was timed for the same time making the process quicker and less disruptive. Their choice of boiler brand was one with a good reputation. I knew nothing about boilers before last month. In addition, the pricing was competitive with other quotes I received. Obviously, I’m very pleased. Thanks, Paul.

I have been a happy customer of AJ Michaels for more than six years. They installed my whole house air conditioner about six years ago and they have taken very good care of us over the years. Everyone we have had contact with has been wonderful. This morning one of their technicians arrived, on time, to replace some parts. He did a great job. He is polite, competent, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. I highly and without reservation recommend this company!

We have 12-year-old high-efficiency HVAC system with a Spacepak and flexible tubing (not duct work) in the attic of our house. During a routine maintenance visit, the tech from the company that originally installed our system claimed that we needed to replace the entire system although we had not had any problems.He insisted the system was rusty and moldy (but could not be cleaned) and that the coolent (which had never leaked or caused any issues) was obsolete per the EPA. He gave us an estimate of $16,000!!!We desperately searched for an HVAC company that could service a Spacepak and fortunately found A. J. Michaels. We could not have been more pleased with their service.Jimmy, the supervisor, came out quickly and gave us an estimate of $160 to clean the Spacepak with bleach and install a tube (which the original company had forgotten to install) to keep the HVAC system from drawing in moisture from outside.Jake, a pleasant and smart young technician, arrived a few days later to quickly clean the system and install the tubing up in the attic. Amazing service at an unbelievable price.

In a world where customer service seems to be evaporating, this company has exceeded my expectations. My entire experience from the first call to get a quote through the installation of the unit, AJ Michaels has been straightforward and very professional. Going with a local company I can tell a difference between AJ Michaels vs a larger competitor. I did not feel like a random account but a valued customer. This was even before I decided to purchase anything! I would absolutely recommend AJ Michaels for your HVAC needs.

My wife and I are originally from Baltimore, but had moved away more than a decade ago. Recently, we purchased a second home so that we could spend quality time near our daughter and son-in-law, who are starting a family in the Baltimore area. The home was built in 1930 and it was clear after a few weeks that it was very drafty. This was confirmed after receipt of our first few utility bills, including reports from BGE showing us that our electric bills were as much as 58% higher than all homes in our area and 175% higher than those homes deemed efficient.Under BGE’s Home Performance Program, we were able to select AJ Michaels as a prime contractor for the needed upgrades. We didn’t hesitate to choose them based on our excellent experience with them in decades past, and we are happy to report that they expertly guided us through selection of various energy upgrades, and performed these projects along with some excellent partner companies. The work included a new A/C compressor and updated air handler, sealing of the A/C ductwork through an incredible technology called Aerosealing, air sealing and insulation of the attic, including cleaning and disinfecting of the attic space (very important to us with my wife’s asthma), encapsulation of our crawl spaces and rim joists, and insulation of the exterior and foundation walls. We are benefiting enormously from this work, and the data shows so far that our electric bills are lower than the efficient homes in the area. We wholeheartedly recommend AJ Michaels.

Air conditioner was not working. I have severe asthma and need AC desperately during the summer months. Samantha was nice enough to send out a technician same day. Our technician Jake G. was absolutely fantastic. Had us up and running in under 30 minutes. Was very professional and double checked everything was working before he left. We purchased both our units A few years ago from AJ Michael’s and the work was covered by warranty. They stand behind their work and we highly recommend them !!!

Sadly, there is nothing higher than 5 *. From the very beginning we could not have asked for better service and communication. Upon our first phone call, we were treated with complete respect. The sales person Mike, was so knowledgeable and understanding. We did not feel any pressure at all. He took into account my allergies, and made his recommendation. Samantha in the office, was so sweet and understanding and did not make me feel like I was asking silly questions. The team that installed our furnace was so nice and helpful. They made sure we understood about our new system. Today the crew came to remove our old oil tank. Again, they were very nice and got the job done quickly. We are so happy with the entire experience.

We recently called A.J. Michaels to replace our terra cotta sewer pipes with new pipes. The price was reasonable and they did an outstanding job. Ive seen other houses getting the pipes replaced in their front yard and the plumber rips up their entire yard. Thats the way it was done 30 years ago. Today, it should be much cleaner. A.J. Michaels dug a reasonable hole at the house and a hole at the end of the yard ONLY. Now I have to do a little landscaping and cement work, but once thats done youll have no idea they dug up my yard. And the water in my house is flowing again with no backups! I highly recommend them! In fact, Ive called them several times before. They also replaced my clean water line years ago. Both times profession service and Im a satisfied customer.

I have been a customer of AJ Michaels for years. They initially replaced my oil boiler over 10 years ago with a gas boiler, and I recently hired them to install Mitsubishi Mini Splits. They are not the least-expensive company, but I think the best. In every project they have worked on in my house; they have always provided outstanding service from the office to the site.I want to thank Misty for her outstanding customer support, and Bianca in the office, Ryan for his knowledge and expertise, Rick and his helper Tony for the outstanding job they did retrofitting mini splits in my 95-year-old house. Some of the work (and solutions) Rick performed were outstanding. The same goes to Paul, who installed my boiler, and sold me the mini splits. I would also like to thank “Little Ricky” and Ed for their conscientious, maintenance support.I know it is a lot of names, but it is well-deserved.

We contacted A.J. Michaels when our water heater was leaking. They were able to send an estimator out within a couple of hours to give us a free estimate and he gave us a price on the spot to replace it. This was our third estimate--including one from our home warranty company--and it was by far the highest quality product as well as the most competitive price. We had an A.O. Smith heater (the same brand as the one they were replacing that had lasted over 25 years) installed that same day and the two gentlemen who came to install it were efficient, courteous, and careful. They covered our white carpet, covered nearby sprinkler heads, and completed the job in under three hours. After they finished, they took the time to answer our questions and explain how our new water heater works, which I really appreciated. I HIGHLY recommend A.J. Michaels and can say they will be the first call I make the next time we have any issues!

Our water heater broke down and thus started a string of nightmare experiences, flakiness, and incompetence. Our last handyman did an improper installation of piping which leaked onto our new water heater and caused it to breakdown. Things started to look up once I called AJ Michaels. The process starting from the phone call all the way to the service has been seamless. They are no nonsense and highly professional. Working with Jake in particular has been awesome. These guys are the real deal and I dont hesitate to give them my highest recommendation.

We have been customers of AJMichaels for over 20 years and have always been very happy with the service we have received. AJMichaels are always very responsive and go out of their way to help with any plumbing, heating, or air conditioning problem we may be having. We had some issues with our kitchen plumbing and ended up needing some invasive digging and demo in the basement to replace pipes that were no doubt put in when the house was built in the 1930s. We feel much better now that this problem was fixed by AJMichaels. The crew that worked in my house was friendly, respectful, and punctual! I highly recommend!

Its rare that I leave a review, and I dont think Ive ever gushed about a contractor, but A.J. Michaels deserves a great review for going above and beyond in every way with the purchase and installation of our heat pump.Beginning with the quote, A.J. Michaels came in far lower than the other two companies I had come in. Paul, the estimator, actually looked at what I had and listened to what I wanted to accomplish. He was the only one who provided a quote for a job that would fully satisfy my goals, which were getting off of oil heating and removing the oil tank. Im still not sure why I couldnt get anyone else to agree to do that.As for installation, Kyle and DJ, the technicians, were polite, professional, and friendly. They came on time, laid plastic down on the carpet to make sure they wouldnt stain it, showed me what they were going to do, answered all my questions, and respected my need for them to wear masks. Most importantly, they went out of their way to respect my need to work in my home office while they completed the installation. They even made sure that we had heat before they left the first day because of the cold weather.Since the installation, which went very well, they have contacted me to make sure that I was satisfied with the job, and even brought a small box of cookies by as a thank you. I dont know about the rest of you, but I generally find it hard to get a contractor to show up at all, let alone provide such an extremely high level of service.Weve had our heat pump running for a month now, in cold and hot weather. Its extremely quiet and does a much better job regulating the temperature then the old oil furnace and AC unit ever did. Best of all, weve gotten rid of that heating oil smell and have a lot more room in our utility room since the tank is gone!I would highly recommend A.J. Michaels for every single aspect of their performance and price.

Every person I interacted with from those answering the phone, to the sales person to the technicians were the most professional and pleasant people I have experienced in a very long time. The follow up was great and they did quality work. The technicians and crane operator were on time. The technicians were polite, knowledgeable, efficient and clean. They took time to answer all of my questions. I received several quotes on ac and heat replacement and they were all similar. I couldn’t be happier that I chose AJ Michaels. I have had all of my work done by BGE Home since I have owned my home and have a home warranty with them. The technician, Kyle was wonderful. He knew just what the issue was and provided us reassurance that the project would be done properly. He took extra time to show us the existing setup in the attic before they started work and after they finished the work. They stayed to let the system run for at least 20 minutes to make sure it was functioning properly, while checking things in the outside unit. They were professional an patient. Kyle answered all of our questions. AJ Michaels sent over window units while getting the work scheduled. Would recommend AJ Michaels for all your heating/AC work.

Wow! I cannot say enough wonderful things about the extraordinary service and workmanship of the AJ Michaels team. From start to finish, every aspect was great! We live in an older home. The AC unit was mounted on the roof and the vibrations were incredibly noisy. They came out and moved the unit, repaired our system, and now we are soooo happy. We don’t hear the AC at all. They stuck to their estimate both price and time wise. And they took great care to protect our floors and clean up after they left. Fabulous!!!

My wife and I contracted with A J. Michaels to install a new air conditioning unit (including air handler) and a new not water baseboard furnace (with major design upgrades, including pumps instead of TACO valves). The system was expensive, but we chose it because we believed it was worth it, if properly installed. We were not disappointed with the final product. The installation was truly exceptional. The wiring, plumbing and all related hardware was installed with great care and attention. The plumbing crew showed up promptly each morning and worked efficiently. They treated us with great courtesy and were open to any questions we might raise. I highly recommend A. J. Michaels for any heating or air conditioning work that needs to be done in residential property.

Also, their customer service was very good as they communicated with me thru out the process. The AJ Michaels team that came to my home not only completed the work detailed in the proposal but they left the premises in a much better state than when they arrived. The work order provided all services necessary to pass the Howard County inspection and it was completed on schedule. We also had run new water lines above the slab in my home which was built in 1976, this required moving the washer / dryer and the installation of new outdoor water spouts. What amazed us was that they actually cleaned the dryer duct and provided guidance for future care. Excellent job. We highly recommend this company for service, Sincerely, Al and Darlene Striano.

They have solved problems that other plumbing/heating professionals told me could not be done. For example, they installed air-conditioning system and vents in the attic of my 75 year old home when others said it was not possible.

I had an old furnace from 1942. Paul gave me an excellent quote that was lower than all other companies. I converted from oil heat to gas. The service were well coordinated from a Asbestos removal, removal of furnace, oil tank, placement of unit and chimney liner. Michael and his crew complied with covid precautions. They were on time, friendly and professional. They cleaned and gave me details on how to use my new unit. The experience was great especially considering that it was such a huge job. I’m a happy camper.

This is the second time Ive rated AJ Michaels 5 stars. We did extensive research before choosing them for a hybrid heat pump and water heater install. The proposal gave us what we needed and what we wanted in a system. Price was very comparable to competition, but mostly I trusted their word based on my previous experienceThe chief technician Cory, was very respectful, knowledgeable and clearly wanted us to be satisfied, He came across a problem and called in another technician( his supervisor I think) to confer. The problem was solved and they proceeded. I asked him to delay the installation of the compressor because rain had caused my garden to be muddy and I didnt want my garden to be trampled on to get the unit in place. They agreed to install the next day and it went very smoothly.We are very happy with our new system and I once again feel they have earned a 5 star rating.

We had a great experience with A.J. Michaels. They were quick to respond - getting a person on-site the day that we called. Although there have been delays in getting one of the components in the cooling, our delay was not very long at all. In the meantime, they filled up our system with freon and provided us with A/C Window units to make sure we were not suffering from the heat. They provided quick installation, and in no time, we had a new heating and A/C System. Our installers - Kyle and Chuck were great - very friendly, educated us on our new system, and provided outstanding work. My neighbor referred me to A.J. Michaels, and I will definitely refer my friends to them. They are a First Class company!

Upon arriving in Baltimore, after being away for two months, we could not get the pilot on our water heater lighted. Upon calling AJ Michaels, a tech was immediately dispatched (despite it being late afternoon), and found our older appliance on its last legs. Rather than try a repair with after market parts, he recommended replacement at a reasonable cost. We accepted, and the job was completed by 1:30 pm the next day. Very clean. No water on the floor. Very professionally done. That’s why AJ Michaels has been our HVAC/plumbing contractor of choice for the past 12 years.

Michaels used coverings and other means to keep my carpetand other paarts of my home clean. After about 6 hours, the installationwas complete and they explained to me how certain parts of the newsystem worked. the new replacement equipment looked great andI would definitely recommend A.J. Our old gas boiler failed in early March, when there were plenty of chilly days. We received several proposals and chose A. J. Michaels. Their estimator returned calls and emails promptly and provided fair and understandable answers to my many questions (we live in a house built in the 1800s - nothing is ever simple!). Another company recommended a more expensive boiler that would have added little to efficiency, one took over a week to send their estimate, and another never even called back despite knowing we were without heat. A. J. Michaels replaced the boiler the same week that I called. The workers were professional, polite, and efficient. The unit functions well, and they cleaned up the area completely before leaving. We are very satisfied.

Cannot say enough good things about this company from their customer service to their sales team and technicians. a company with real integrity. i have been going round and round for three years with other companies for 3 years about a recurring issue that no one has been able to diagnose. spent untold dollars on parts they said failed that did not create the problem. Was told by someone to contact this company. Chris came out and looked about but did not think I needed a new system as was told by last company. He told me he was sending his Carrier specialist out to see me. Ed came out and within an hour and a half, diagnosed and fixed a 3 year old issue with just minor parts from his truck!! I woke up to find I my hot water tank leaking. I went to the manufacturers website (AO Smith) to find an authorized dealer. AJ Michael had good reviews so I gave them a call. Within a few hours they had Paul come out to look at my hot water tank and give me an estimate. Since this was my first experience with having to replace a hot water tank I wanted to get at least one more estimate for price comparison. I called a smaller company, they came out and gave an estimate that was several hundred dollars higher. I went back and called AJM, ordered the tank and the following day they came out to install first thing in the morning. It took a few hours. Im very pleased. The guys were professional, even put down plastic on the carpet so they wouldnt get it dirty when removing the old hot water tank. I appreciate that level of detail. The new one was installed and they also replaced some pac pipes that were leaking right above the hot water tank. I had some questions about temperature settings for the new tank vs. the old and the guys were able to explain and also double check the factory set temp on the old compared to the new. Added info. that was great. Im very pleased with the service and the follow up a few days later from the office. Id recommend AJM and would look to them first if another need came up.

My 32 year-old air conditioner failed in early August during 90 degree heat. I received a quote from another company that seemed inflated with a promise to beat any competitors price by $100.By contrast, A.J. Michaels gave me what seemed to be a fair/competitive quote up front. In addition, they offered 3 loaner room air conditioners for our use (so that my kids and I could at least be comfortable in our bedrooms until the central AC was restored; with installation scheduled about 10 days later). The A. J. Michaels crew both installed and removed the room air conditioners so that I didnt have to lug them around myself.The A.J. Michaels crew confirmed their arrival ahead of time, arrived promptly on time each day (a two day installation) and were courteous and hard working (they seemed to work diligently without breaks, at least whenever I saw them). They finished the job ahead of the time they said they would and they thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. They reviewed the use of the new HVAC system with me, explained the maintenance schedule (how to change the filter, etc.) and assured me that I should call them without hesitation if I have any questions or concerns.The new HVAC system works quietly and very well and I am very pleased with the job A.J. Michaels did, I appreciated the loaner AC units and I feel like I had the work done at a fair price. Over-all, Im very pleased. As a footnote; the estimator told me a story of how well he has been treated as an employee of the company. Its nice to hear that a family-owned business (or any business) has great corporate culture and cares about its workers.

I had received a quote from three companies and A. J. Michaels provided me the best offer. There was no hard sell or pressure, which allowed for a comfortable transaction. During the coldest time of the year I was having problems with my heating system, however, I did not have any heat in my house at all. I called several heating companies to come out to look at my gas burner/ boiler. One company informed me I need a piece for my system that would be very costly, I would be better off purchasing a new boiler system. They tried to convince me to purchase a new gas boiler for over $6,000. I called AJ Michaels and they send out the most pleasant, personable, and, professional representative that they could find, Mr. Neil. He worked and worked on my gas unit until he got it back into working order. He also informed me, yes the unit needs that particular piece, but it will cost a little over $1,000.00, and no, he stated I did not need a new gas unit. Once the piece is applied to the unit, it will be good as new!! The $1,000.00 is a far far cry from $6,000. Thank you Mr. Neil and AJ Michaels you have a customer for life.

The old metal pipes in my living room ceiling were leaking. Also, pipes under my second floor shower were leaking. Some pipes in my upstairs bathroom had to be rerouted. My house is about 75 yrs old. A. J. Michaels send plumbers out as well as a carpenter. It was a labor intensive job and they were working in my house for several days. I do not see any more leaks so I assume my plumbing has been fixed. The problem is that when they were finished I had a mess of dust to clean up.My nice wooden floors were covered with dust and it took me several days to vacuum and mop. I am 76 years old and I just had surgery so not only was this a hardship but my wooden floors still look dusty.The plumbers did lay some plastic over some of my things and put some paper on my wooden floor. And I moved many items out of the way. But the carpenter was not so careful. The carpenter did some drilling and sanding and I do not think he bothered to cover the floors on the first or second floor in the area he worked in. The paper covering my floor the first day either was moved or after several days got pulled up before the carpenter finished and no other effort was made to cover my floor and thats why there was so much dust.

My furnace wasnt working properly this winter. Its newer, installed in 2011 as part of a large renovation. It worked or I assumed it worked. Obviously, this year has been colder than the last couple. It became really apparent that the heat probably never worked right. I searched endlessly online to figure out the issue. I had one repair company come out and take a look. The guy tinkered and cussed, but left without solving the problem. A.J. Michaels was referred by the manufacturer. They were able to set up an appointment within a couple days (shocking.) The technician diagnosed the problem immediately (a pipe that wasnt installed properly,) gave me direction on how to fix it and then ensured there werent any additional issues. I made the fix and everything is running perfectly. Great experience. A huge load off my mind. Couldnt be more happy... and warm.

Jake G. was extremely through and found a small but very important problem (as in fire hazard!) that other companies have overlooked for years, in their rush to sell me a whole new system! He was very professional and didnt mind explaining things as he went. He definitely went above and beyond. No pressure about replacing my old unit, but I do plan to get an estimate from them.

Not only did they make it over a full 2 hours before they were originally estimated to come out, but theyre installing a brand new water heater for us as we speak. Cant give them enough compliments -- theyre great! And $1800 for a last minute water heater install aint bad either. We will continue to use them as long as we live in the Baltimore area.

I got multiple estimates on switching from oil to gas heat and installing a hot water heater, along with adding an additional heating zone. AJ Michaels had the best price. Paul came to my home and we discussed in detail the various options. We talked on more than one occasion, just to make sure that we had a clear understanding of what I wanted. They were highly organized and had great communication with scheduling everything to complete the project, which also included installation of a chimney liner and the removal of my oil tank. This was a huge project. The technicians Rick, Ricky, and Anthony did an amazing job. Very professional. Quality workmanship. They completed the project, and I was incredibly happy with the results. I called a couple of places before choosing AJM and I’m glad I went with them. The work was professional, fast, and I am very pleased with their work. They put together a system to address my specific house (the system I replaced was mismatched for this house). Even though the heating system that I replaced was still working, I have noticed a remarkable difference in the operation of the new system as opposed to the operation of the heating system that was replaced. I would definitely recommend them to address your HVAC needs.

I bid this project to 4 separate contractors all were given the same instructions. A J Michaels was the low bidder and well exceeded my my expectations. They treated my house as if it was theirs, the mechanic and helper {Mathew and Jacob} were both knowledgeable and thoughtful. The project took 4 days in the middle of winter, they supplied heaters at no cost to keep house warm during installation. They cleaned up every night and the finished piping looked like a work of art [very neat and plumb]. If there were more stars to rate them I would have given them a 10. William B Braid

We have used AJ Michaels numerous times including new AC and Furnance both done with great professionalism and quality work years ago. We recently had the AC worked on as it was not cooling and after a deep cleaning outside and system check, it is now very cool. We just had our Refrigerator water line replaced as it was running slow, it now takes a few seconds to fill a glass of water. To Donna and team of Matty and Greg they are the best, high quality work and very friendly, I would recommend to everyone. Keep up the great work!

In our new to us house the previous owner had installed a sub par heating and cooling system that would never operate well. We contacted AJ Michaels to see what could be done. They came out and evaluated the situation. He quickly came up with a solution. It was not the cheapest up front but, It will save us a ton in the long run as it is way more efficient. The quality of materials and workmanship is top notch. These guys know what they are doing and they know the product they are selling. After going through a few seasons now we have a home that is so comfortable and costs less to heat and cool. Great company to deal with.
