    We worked with Cook Bros to add a second story to our house (pop top) and could not have been happier with the experience. From the initial consultation, throughout the design phase, and all the way through 6 mos of construction, everyone we connected with was extremely knowledgeable, professional and interested in helping us achieve our goals for the project.     We had a 1939 Cape that Cook Bros completely renovated. Open concept with new kitchen on the first floor and 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths added on the second with a full attic for plenty of storage. We cant say enough great things about the whole experience. They began the renovation the second week of March 2020. We were back in the house the middle of September 2020. They did the job on budget and on schedule despite the unknowns associated with COVID. If youre considering a renovation, call Cook Bros, you wont be disappointed. They made such a positive impact on our street they will begin doing another whole house renovation on the colonial across the street from us in the coming months.

    We recently completed a pop top major renovation on our cape cod in Arlington. We are so happy with our new space! I cant even believe we ever managed in the old house for that long! The design (Steve) & build (Jon) leads were fantastic from beginning to end. Jon, the production manager, really walked us through all of the decision making and mitigated supply chain issues along the way - something that I cant say about other friends who were working with other builders during the pandemic. Cook Bros runs a very well oiled machine and it really defines the positive experience as a homeowner. They came in on time and on budget. Enough said.

    I am enjoying the addition and the remodeling, both of which have transformed the feel of the entire house for the better. Im very glad that I chose Cook to do the job. The quality of work was matched by the quality of communication. Much gratitude to Kevin for his terrific design that met all my needs and wants for a lovely and elegant space. And many thanks to Jon, Yader and Israel, Tom, Nick, and the numerous subs--tile, flooring, plumbing, electrical-- for their time, skill, and steadfast commitment to high standards. I recommend Cook Brothers to anyone seeking to expand or remodel their house. It was truly a pleasure to work them.

    We are about to start our second major renovation with Cook Brothers. They are honest, easy to work with and prices are competitive. The work is exceptional and their knowledge of the style of houses in the area means they come with tons of ideas. They recommend really great vendors for tile, etc and all the folks working at your home are professional and keep the workspace really tidy. We recommend them to all our friends, we’re looking forward to our next renovation!

    We contracted with Cook Brothers to do what we consider a pretty extensive renovation project on our 1939 colonial. We added a two story extension off the rear of the home (adding ~1200 total sq ft) and a new deck with pergola. Inside we moved and turned the main-level half bath into a full bath, moved and completely renovated the kitchen, moved the master bedroom and replaced the master bath, added a true fourth bedroom, and moved the laundry room upstairs. The main level renovation created a very large open area (almost 1000 sq ft) that has the kitchen, dining room, family room and a play area for the kids.We cannot express how wonderful working with Cook Brothers was from start to finish. Working with Steve throughout the planning process was great: clear expectations set at the start, no sense of pressure to commit within a timeline, honest about what would be feasible, no attempts to upsell, and more than reasonable fees to start planning project (did not feel a major financial risk to have plans complete if plans changed). Stress-free guidance to start planning for what could have quickly become overwhelming.Once construction started Cook Brothers made great efforts to make the process as easy as possible and accommodated our family needs and schedules (we lived in the house throughout the process). Jon Wilson is a professional, responsive, and reliable project manager. He was extremely helpful when it came to design ideas and was very responsive to all of our emails and questions. The crew that was at our house daily (Carlos and John) were professional as well and truly cared about the quality of work being done. In fact, everyone was super respectful and professional.Steve also worked with us to apply for a use permit to build the deck. He walked us through that process and was present and spoke at the county hearing (which required evening hours from him).We absolutely love the new home we have now, which we were skeptical whether we would be able to make happen. Instead it resulted in work beyond our expectations.We highly recommend Cook Brothers. They really do take the uncertainty out of what can be a scary process. They were at our house every day and always communicated with us. We never had to worry about whether our project was moving forward on time and that was a huge relief! The quality of the materials used and the craftmanship is also top notch. They really pay attention to the details, and it makes a difference (e.g., all wood closet/pantry shelves, under cabinet lights).We are grateful that Cook Brothers was able to create our forever home and we highly recommend them for any construction project!

    We thought very highly of Cook Brothers! Steve listened to us very carefully and really understood our vision. We had looked at six other builders before we decided to go with Cook Brothers. I felt like they worked with us very closely and professionally and had a good schedule of check-ins. They also had good practical advice for us for how things work in reality, making sure our ideas would be successful once built.We were very pleased with the finished product!

    Cook Bros completed a 2 story major renovation on our home in Arlington, Virginia. They did outstanding work, and were very professional and easy to work with. They were always responsive to our questions, were respectful of our privacy and space for the work done during the time we remained in the home, and they were accommodating to our requests when we had changes. All and all it was a great experience and we are happy with the end product. We’re so glad we chose Cook Bros for our project!

    It’s a real joy to write this review for Cook Bros. After a number of interviews, we went with Cook Bros. for the design and construction of an accessory dwelling unit (otherwise known as a carriage or guest house), in our back yard. From beginning to end, this was a fantastic experience. Although details follow, we’ll say upfront that Cook’s pricing was fair and reasonable, they met the building schedule (as adjusted for Arlington County’s COVID-19 delays), and the final result is a beautifully-built house that, as requested, fits with the character of our main dwelling and the neighborhood.From the outset, General Manager Steve Tinter did an extremely thorough job of explaining our building options, including the impact of the new and unusual permitting process. Steve and his designer then worked with us on various configurations, with much patience and great ideas, and a keen understanding of the permitting ramifications of each option. Steve did an incredible job husbanding the permitting process to completion, including managing numerous minor adjustments from Arlington County (as they implemented amendments to all ADU permitting). On one memorable afternoon, he dropped everything to come to our rescue during what should have been a straightforward filing with the County.When it came to breaking ground, our project manager, Jon Wilson, was fantastic. He was always either personally on-site, just an email away, or ready to drop by the property even for the quickest question. His expertise and advice were exceptional: his explanations helped us make well-informed decisions and he routinely gave us multiple options and price points based on his extensive knowledge and research. He facilitated all transactions with subs (for tiling etc) expertly. More than once, he saved us from ourselves, with much tact and diplomacy. He also worked with us to achieve certain design features we wanted, with great ideas that saved our budget and produced fantastic results. No matter how big or small the question, Jon was there with an answer and ideas. We simply couldn’t have asked for a better project manager.Finally, Cook Bros. worked very closely with everyone they brought to the project, clearly having chosen them for the quality of their work and attention to detail. Everyone was polite, COVID-safe, and clean and tidy on the site. Bottom line: we recommend Cook Bros. whole-heartedly and without reservation.

    Steve –This email is way overdue but Riley and I just wanted to send you a note and say how wonderful it is to work with your team. In particular, Jon has been a phenomenal partner. He is constantly problem solving and helping us to think through all the implications of any given decision. We appreciate the level of detail he provides to help us make informed decisions and is always very punctual with his response. Honestly, we couldn’t ask for better.Tom and Tim have also been great – always treating our home with respect and care. We have felt confident the entire way that there have been no short-cuts taken. Additionally the work that has been done by the sub-contractors has been of high quality.This is obviously the largest project we’ve taken on and first that we’ve hired someone to take the helm and so far we couldn’t be more pleased with our choice.Sarah and Riley
