Fantastic experience working with these guys. There was a leak coming through the ceiling under the bathroom. Michael came out and was able to diagnose the leak right away. He was phenomenal. He walked me through what he saw and explained possible solutions. Michael even took the time to look at a few other concerns around the house! He gave several helpful tips on preventative maintenance and how to address other common problems he saw. I’d absolutely call these guys the next time I have a plumbing issue.

I would highly recommend BL James & Sons for any of your heating, cooling or plumbing needs. I had an AC unit that was told needed to be replaced. Called BL James & Sons to get a second opinion and Robert came to take a look at our unit. Though the unit is older it still runs great and Robert was able to assess the issue (a cracked tube) and explain what the issue was. He quickly left to find a replacement part, came back, and fixed our unit. This was my first experience with this company and I can say that they are honest and knowledgeable.

From replacement of old pipes, to hydro jetting, to installing new water lines, he knows what he is doing and is respectful and pricing is very competitive. Ive had this company help me out with a new water heater a year or so ago as well and they did a great job. From a guy whose struggles to find good folks in these sectors, 1) I wish I found these folks sooner and 2) I wish they covered more electrical b/c I havent found someone on their level in that space. Aaron, the plumbing technician from BL James & Sons Plumbing provided 5-star service regarding a master bath tub (jacuzzi) with a leaky faucet. Since late Fall 2023 three plumbers were called on three separate occasions. Each one had a different explanation for what was the issue. Each one said the fixtures/faucet (surrounded by ceramic tile) would have to be removed. One also said the tub would have to be removed to fix the leak; that I need to call a contractor with the intention of removing the tub and the floor tile then repairing the leak. I called Harrison at My Painter and Exteriors who have done a great work and Harrison recommended Aaron/BL James & Son. Aaron figured out the problem, fixed the leak without having to remove the tub and surrounding tile. Amazing!! If you need a plumber, Aaron and BL James Plumbing is a great choice. I learned of BL James & Son Mechanical Contractors from a recommendation from a real estate man in whom I have great confidence. Robbie, one of the owners, personally came to inspect my HVAC system. Though it was working, Robbie clearly and kindly explained the comfort benefits both in winter and summer. Then, he thoroughly and patiently presented the benefits of the Amana HVAC and a price which I was believed was fair and couldn’t be beat. Then, he came personally as scheduled just a few days later with Diego and Hussein who all worked flat out as a team. They even called in the second co-owner, Aaron, to get the two system job almost completely done in one day. They protected my floors, tore out the old systems to be scrapped, and made a beautiful, neat and tidy installation of all my new equipment. After testing to be sure all worked, they showed me how to work it, cleaned up, and left me completely satisfied. I recommend B. L. James & Son without hesitation and without qualification.

BL James and Son are PHENOMENAL!!! First of all, they are TRUSTWORTHY. Exceptional customer service. They can fix anything. They have been maintaining my Arlington house since 2003. Last week, I had an emergency plumbing weekend after hours issue that they fixed in an hour. This week, I had a gas leak. They came out for an emergency visit during a winter snowstorm to fix the job. They do the same with heating, AC, plumbing, electrical. There are benefits to being a longtime customer during a time when other contractors can be a real drag, these guys are the very best. I realized at about 6:30pm on Saturday night (in the midst of a heat wave) that my AC wasnt working. It seemed like the fan on the condenser unit had stopped going. Id had B.L. James & Son on my radar based on the reviews, but Id never had them service anything before. I put in a request on the website, and around 11:30 Sunday morning, I got a call from Travis offering to come by once he finished with his last job. He fixed the issue (a bad capacitor) in under a half an hour. He didnt try to upsell me on anything, and even showed me how to clean the condenser coils to avoid needing more professional maintenance. He stuck around to make sure everything was working and showed me the temperature of the air coming out of the vents to ensure that it was back to normal. He was also very friendly throughout the entire process. Based on this experience, B.L. James & Son will undoubtedly be my go-to for HVAC services in the future.

We had a tough job to replace a broken down 19 y/o air handler and a rooftop heat pump in a hi-rise condo, complicated by having to move the heat pump through a narrow door and then lift it up an 11-foot ladder to a second tier. They were honest about what did and did not need to be done from that estimate, which was full of unneeded work as it turned out. Aaron James and his team did an excellent job for us. We were in need of a new water heater and they were out right away to give us an estimate. It only took a few days to get the one I wanted in and they were out the next day after it arrived to install it and take away the old one. We also needed to have a drain pipe cut out and replaced, and they were able to do that at the same time they put in the new water heater. And if that wasnt enough, we realized the humidifier on our HVAC unit was old and not working properly, so they brought us a new one and took care of it on the spot. I am so happy with the work they did and how quickly they were able to help us out. I would recommend them to anyone who is in need of a repair or replacement. I will definitely be using them again when I am ready to add another HVAC unit.

Incredible service! On Sunday I submitted an online request to replace the fill hose on my washing machine - a two-man job because my dryer is stacked on top in a tight space. They called me first thing Monday morning and had two technicians out the next day - no waiting weeks and weeks like other companies make you do. Michael and Aaron (the two technicians) were efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. 100% recommend B.L. James & Son to anyone in the D.C. area!
