    We had excellent service. We turned our water off at the shutoff valve for a kitchen appliance installation and when we turned it back on again it leaked . We called and received timely service, which was a huge relief to us! They got the water turned off from the street and replaced what was probably the original shutoff valve in our 70 year old home. We’ve worked with different plumbers over the years and Clark is reliable and high quality.

    I had called a different plumbing company that was having dispatching issues and tried to send two different plumbers who didn’t show up after waiting several hours. My neighbor had this company over to their house coincidentally fixing a drain issue. I asked the plumber if he could look at my drain when done and he fit me in. I had tried to snake the drain myself but couldn’t get past the block. This plumber was able to snake the drain, and used an apparatus he fixed to my hose to test the drain after snaking it. He was thorough and precise and tested it for a while til he was satisfied with its ability to drain. He also told me my drain is flat under the ground and suggested rebuilding it at an angle if I wanted to prevent the same issue from occurring.

    Professional, polite, responsible. The work is always done to perfection. The guys always explain the work to be done and then go over the work when completed. Not necessary cheap but then again you get what you pay for. Id highly recommend these guys.

    TLDR: Good but very expensive.I had issues with my brand new HVAC system, which the installer wasnt willing to resolve anymore. These guys listened to the issue, promptly put me on schedule and a guy arrived at my place on time. He was knowledgeable and friendly. Diagnosed a couple of issues and presented solutions and costs. Thats where I took off 1 star.First issue was that my drain pipe was clogged. The solution, cut the drain pipe and apply pressurized nitrogen to clear clog and cost, $320. Obviously I declined. All I had to do was to plug the end going into the air handler, and apply a little air pressure on the other end with my shop vac, and the drain cleared out in 5 mins of work.Second issue, my system was low on gas charge. Solution charge it up, but cost was a flat fee of $800 up to 5 lbs. That also I declined, in order to get it covered by my installer. I called a couple of other highly rated places to check, and most had more reasonable charges based on per pound of gas, instead of a flat slab.

    I called Thomas Clark at 7am and by 7:15am I received a call from Lexie. She was friendly and so helpful. She had a technician out to my home within 1.5 hrs! Brian was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what needed to be done (a simple fix needed) and was done in 20 min. Brian was so pleasant and did an excellent job. I highly recommend Clark HVAC and plumbing!!

    I have used Thomas Clark over the years for plumbing, a/c and heating system work. They are always professional and do great work. They do what they say they will do and when they say they will do it. The team they sent to replace the old lead incoming water pipe to my house was great. They even did a great job cleaning up after having to dig a hole in the yard to find the pipe. On top of that the entire crew was courteous and nice to deal with. The office was great too, getting the permit process expedited and keeping me informed. The best service in the area.

    We called with what was a gas pipe problem and they found some plumbing issues that needed fixing as well. Able to do it all in one visit and apprised us of any additional costs as they went along and before starting another task. Our house is showing its age so these tiny problems are good to catch before they turn into big problems and were thankful that it could be done so quickly.

    Had serious water damage to original (1934) panelling in the basement. The first firm wanted to go in through the ceiling of the adjacent room and down the plaster wall (big mess).The first team from Clarks told me to get a carpenter to carefully remove the still extant panelling to expose the main drain for the house, which had already had a pin-hole crack a story above several years before.The assessor Chris, whom we had known and liked from before when he was an everyday plumber, then found the massive crack in the drain and arranged for a repair team to take it out and replace it.A bit of a wait, but they were highly efficient and skilled doing a nasty and lengthy job (Ibrahim and Marquis), and performed a further two jobs while they were here. Excellent work!I always try to get assessments from at least two firms, but in the end I always go back to Clarks.

    I hired Thomas E Clarks HVAC division to come inspect and maintain my A/C unit. The technician, Roberto, arrived promptly and with good communication. During the maintenance, Roberto patiently explained what he was checking for and what he found every step of the way. He was extremely patient with me as I asked him to repeat and re-explain things to me and to explain what the names of specific components of the A/C system were and what they were doing. He also did extra cleaning and tweaks to improve the system and was very friendly and conversational during the visit.Roberto ultimately went above and beyond in every aspect of the A/C maintenance and advised me on future potential problems. I also had a pleasant experience on the phone with the scheduling employees. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this company to anyone asking.

    Ive used other plumbing companies in the past. While I was satisfied with some of their repairs, there were other repairs that were sloppy and just infuriated me. I swore Id never let them back in my house. My brother recommended Thomas E Clark who he had been using for years.The repairs I needed this time, I was sure would call for expensive replacements. However, the service man was able to repair everything with just a few turns of a wrench on one, some plumbing tape on another, and just a simple unclogging of hair in the drain. They certainly could have taken advantage of me but didnt. That is the sign of an honest company and I will certainly use them again.

    We had a very complicated plumbing problem: replacing a 100 year-old main water shutoff valve. This required the team from Thomas E Clark to work carefully and quickly with the D.C. Water employee who had to turn off the water to our home and others in the neighborhood. Time was of the essence and the job had to be completed successfully so that we had control of our water supply in the event of an emergency. This team of plumbers stayed calm and focused on solving this difficult problem. Their plumbing work was A#1 and their attitude throughout was professional.     T. E. Clark is my go-to place for plumbing, heating, and air conditioning. I like to support local businesses and T. E. Clark has never disappointed. They are accommodating of schedule needs, and their technicians are punctual, friendly, and competent. A water leak problem that I suspected was related to the condensate pump on a heating system unit took a bit longer to repair because the heating system crew that first came could not locate it. However, the made arrangements for a plumbing crew to come a couple of hours later. The second crew came and was able to trace (several inspection holes on the ceiling) the leak to a copper line that connects to the condensate pump. The plumbing crew contacted the first crew to explain and made arrangements for them to return and fix it, which they did. I am pleased overall with the resourcefulness of the company and impressed by their ability to respond and adjust. It took a bit longer and, in the end, cost a bit more than I anticipated but I am happy and relieved that the problem is fixed.

    Full disclosure up front: I did not use this company for home maintenance. However, I had a very positive encounter with one of their employees (Devon) when I needed a jump for my vehicle. He dropped what he was doing to help a stranger out and was professional and courteous throughout. I think this speaks to the quality of employees at this company, who obviously put people first, even when its inconvenient. If I need any maintenance issues resolved, Ill call this company first.

    We were lucky to have Matt & Bryan service our minisplits today. Wow - they were fantastic and so thorough -- I couldnt believe it! It was our first time using Thomas E Clark and couldnt be more pleased to have switched to new technicians.     Since buying a house that needed extensive plumbing work, Thomas E Clark has been my go-to for all my plumbing issues, large and small.     We had a leaking internal gas line. Opening up the walls to identify and patch the leak, if possible at all, would have been both very expensive and disruptive. Gene the tech came up with a simpler, cheaper and safer alternative of running a new line externally. The quality of advice, work, and customer service was exceptional.     Thomas E Clark is our go-to plumber and HVAC service company. They replaced our AC, have maintained our aging furnace and dealt quickly with a few plumbing issues. Easy to work with - from making an appt to speaking in-depth with the service tech during a visit. Probably not the cheapest, but reasonable and for our family, worth the money for extremely professional and thorough service. Highly recommend.

    I called on a Sunday night with an important but not urgent issue (leaking under kitchen sink), was able to leave a message with an answering service, and got a callback that night scheduling a visit for the next day. The plumber arrived on schedule, diagnosed the problem readily, stopped the leak and fixed the situation for the most part that day, and returned on schedule the next day with an additional small part that was required, installing that part quickly. Service was professional, prompt, and while not cheap, seemed reasonable in cost for the work that was done and the good result.

    We called Thomas E Clark Inc for a leak that was dripping in the basement. The plumber found a series of holes in pipes around the dishwasher. He did an excellent job cutting around sections of drywall and replacing sections of pipe. Because he was so careful, my husband will be able to do the necessary repair work to the wall and we will not need to call a carpenter! Our plumber, Chris (I think), was careful and knew what he was doing. We are happy to recommend him and his company.

    Recently I had an issue with the heater component of my thru-the-wall HVAC unit. I originally called another local company in Bethesda but had no luck getting the problem resolved despite going back and forth for about a month. When I called Thomas E Clark, I was warmly greeted by the person who answered the call before being transferred to a gentleman who logged the issue and set me up with an appointment on the first day that worked for me. On the appointment day, the technician (John Paul) showed up on time to investigate the problem. Once he had a diagnosis, he thoroughly explained the issue and gave me a guesstimate for the cost to repair. In the following week, once the required part was received thru mail, the engineer came over again and fixed the unit quickly and ably.     Great response time and resolution of my issue. On an extremely cold weekend last winter the service technician diagnosed a cracked heat exchanger in my furnace and replaced my furnace the next day.     Five year old water heater kept shutting off for a year and a half. Plumber who installed it came back several times to fix it. Couldn’t find a problem. Another plumber installed a new igniter which manufacturer said was faulty. Still kept shutting off, 3-5 times a week or more.Manufacturer said it must be the gas valve.Sent a new one. This time we had TEC install it on our daughter’s recommendation.They sent Efren. Before installing the part he thoroughly inspected the heater and found a huge crack in the burner. TEC contacted the manufacturer and got them to overnight a new burner. Manufacturer told us do not turn the heater back on due to safety concerns. Part arrived the next morning and Efren installed it that afternoon. We were lucky there wasn’t a fire or worse. Heater is working great. Everyone I dealt with at TEC was professional and helpful. Efren is fantastic. Cost was reasonable and fair. TEC is our new plumber. Thank you Efren and TEC.

    There are a few times in life that I have taken the time to leave a review. I find that most of the time people write reviews when they are dissatisfied. My A/C stopped working last Sunday and I called Thomas E Clark and the owner called me back. within 2 hours he sent Matt over to look at the unit. After attempting some repairs it turned out that the 16 year old unit needed to be replaced. Mike called me Sunday night and was able to get Mike had an estimator out Monday morning and I had a proposal in my email within an hour with several pricing options. We decided on an option and Mike was able to work us into an already jam packed schedule. He sent a crew over that started working on the job at 3pm and did not leave until 11pm. Carlos the technician refused to leave because he knew about the upcoming heat wave and wanted to make sure when he came out on Saturday to finish the job we had cool air by the afternoon. Mike and Carlos were some of the best contractors I have ever worked with. And the pricing was much better then the other 2 quotes including Micheal and Sons.
