VA and Sons Construction was amazing to work with. Gene is the general contractor and he was always very responsive and kept us up to date on timelines. Him and his team did a small but complete overhaul of our main bathroom. The final result is gorgeous and feels like Im walking into a spa. They cleaned up after themselves well at the end (not all contractors will do that). Highly recommend and Ill be using them for all our future projects on this 1950 house. Thanks Gene!

Gene kept us informed throughout the project which involved complete siding removal, dry rot repair, new siding and finished up with painting. We used VA and Sons Construction for 2 projects. They built a free-standing outdoor kitchen/gazebo, complete with plumbing, electrical, and concrete. It looks awesome! Price was fair and workers were professional. It turned out so good that we had them do complete exterior painting of our house. Everything turned out great. Good communication on the projects. We would highly recommend them.

They completed the job quickly and the price was very reasonable. Much lower than the estimates that I had received from other contractors. Our family suffered a terrible nightmare of a tragedy this year. In Feb 2021 during the ice storm, 2 giant white oak trees destroyed approximately 25-30% of our home. Having never suffered anything like this before I immediately began contacting several contractors, Remodeling Salem OR (VA & Sons Construction) was one of them.I had about 5 contractors visit my home in the days after to give estimates, with a giant trunk through our home and water pouring in, Gene was the only one who immediately sent his crew out to tarp and take care of things. He humbly told me whether I went with them or not, they were going to fix things for us to make sure no additional damage would impact he house. This level of empathy for what we were going through went a big way with me and I eventually hired him to do a massive repair.Gene was incredibly helpful navigating the complexity of such a massive job, he handled just about everything and worked hand in hand with our insurance adjuster to ensure that we got what we needed. The quality of work is exceptional and Genes various crews were a pleasure to have in our home. The entire process took just shy of 10 months but it was worth it, we turned a tragedy into a beautiful remodel. My wife and I couldnt be more happy. I will be using this company again for many more projects in the future.

What a great experience with Gene and team. They converted my funky old dark garage into a bright and functional art studio. Extra effort and expertise was evident throughout the project. Great communication too. Kept on schedule even through snow and delay in drywall drying for over a week. Very helpful also in fixing a gutter issue had with another contractor. After realizing that our house could not go another year without being painted, I contacted Gene during their busiest time of year for home projects. He called me back right away, and was out within days to give me a bid for the exterior painting and some other minor house repairs. The bid was fair for the work being asked of them. I received a formal contract a few days after that, which didnt have any surprises. The crew showed up when they were supposed to, and took approximately the amount of time Gene specified it would take to get the job done. Gene was in constant communication with me, keeping me apprised of the progress and issues along the way with texts and phone calls. In the end, our house looks brand new on the outside. I am so very happy with their work! Theyll be the first contractors Ill call for any future home repair needs!

Gene and his crews have done three jobs for us in the past: an office addition to our house, added a laundry room to our second floor apartment and doubled the size of the catio in the shed where our cats reside. In all cases we found pricing to be reasonable, and the quality and timeliness of the work met or exceeded expectations. Gene was consistently on top of the work in progress, including that done by any subcontractors. During the office addition I was out of state for over a week, and he kept me updated via phone as needed. I am currently in discussions with Gene to add a patio cover to our home (wish I had done this when he did the addition, but hindsight is always 20/20). I would strongly recommend Gene and his company for any construction related work you may be considering. He is a no nonsense guy, so dont expect him to play with your dog, but he would do a great job for you!

Elaine Robertson Schuller V A & Sons Construction replaced the siding with Hardi Plank, new gutters, new doors, painted the apartment complex and the carport. Stained the patio dividers and fence. V.A. and Sons helped us with the exterior remodel of our 21 year old home. Their crew was fabulous to work with, professional courteous, thorough and fast. The cedar, framing of windows and prep for painting was done in three day. The painting started the following week and took 2 days. Gene had the foresight to order materials in advance to ensure they would be available at the start of the project to minimize any delay of our project. I will be calling them when we are ready to start our inside remodel.

After getting 6 repair/painting bids for residing and painting our West Salem home, we chose VA & Sons Construction and are so pleased with our choice and their work. Their bid was thousands less than any of the others, very complete and easy to understand. Communication between the time they were hired and the time the job started was great. When work started Genes crew showed up on time every day, worked diligently all day and cleaned up every evening before leaving. The finished job was done on a very timely basis and final clean up was excellent. My wife and I highly recommend VA & Sons Construction. Gene and his crew are amazing. We had a pipe leak that caused considerable damage to our home. They replaced siding, flooring, cabinets, counter tops, the front door, and did a large amount of painting. They made a very stressful situation MUCH easier. His crew were always professional and were available to tell us what they were working on and to answer any questions we had. 5 stars! I actually think they are a perfect 10! Gene and his crew just finished our project and I am so happy. Resided and painted our home and built a new deck and stairs, repaired chimney damage, pressure washed our tile roof, installed a couple new doors and even redid my window screens and door sweeps and trim. There is really nothing they can’t handle or not willing to undertake. The quality of their workmanship is excellent, nothing is overlooked. My next project will start with a call to VA and Sons Construction.
