Wouldnt you know our hot water heater went out right before the New Years holiday. Our first quote was from a company that wanted to install an A.O. Smith water heater. After reading less than charming comments about that brand, I decided to call S and J based on their glowing Google reviews. Jay was very nice and said he would do everything to accommodate a same day visit, even though I called around 10:30 am. He also promised to call me back around lunchtime, and sure enough, I received his call at 12:30 pm. He indicated his guys were finishing up, taking a quick lunch break, and would be at our house soon. I received a nice text message with Jonnys photo prior to their arrival.Jonny was extremely thorough in his assessment of the issue and explained why specific pipes and the emergency water shut-off valve had to be changed in addition to the water heater. Both Jonny and Robby were unbelievably personable and nice and spent a lot of time talking to us.The sticker price was quite a shock - a good part of which was associated with the main water shut-off valve replacement. We decided to move forward because we really liked Jonny and Robby and wanted to fix major issues overlooked by the previous plumbing company that replaced our last water heater. We also signed up for the membership plan since that saved us some money.As promised, Jonny and Robby arrived on December 31 at 8:20 am and waited outside until the city public works guy arrived to shut off the water. The job was enormous and posed some unexpected challenges, including having to go into the crawl space twice and some wacko plumbing job that was uncovered linking the kitchen sink to one of the old and rusted out pipes that Jonny removed. They even had to go out to get some parts later in the afternoon on New Years eve to solve this oddball issue. Despite the challenges, both of these guys had the best attitude I have encountered in any home repair professional. Yes, it was an expensive repair, but worth every penny!

S&J is amazing! We had a pretty big leak happening and were lucky to have Dennis come to our house on an emergency call—on New Year’s Eve, of all days. It took him about three minutes to figure out the problem with the pipe set-up and know exactly what needed to be done to fix it. I mentioned we were on a tight schedule because of a prior commitment, and what looked to be a complicated two-hour job was done in just an hour—and done with excellent quality.Dennis listened to our concerns about timing and dug right in, not even a question. I also appreciated that he had everything he needed in his truck. No waiting around for days for parts— he was ready to go. Really impressive and so much appreciated!

Jay and Nick were absolutely amazing! Not only are they quick and responsive but polite too! They got the job done quickly and without any issues. They were efficient and clean, leaving the space in the same condition as they found it. Jay was able to show me what was done and why, and what to expect with the new water heater. I also have to say the response team (managers) were so quick and accommodating! While the price was a little steep, I honestly can’t complain considering the spectacular service. 10/10 would recommend!

Weve used S and J on several occasions and they are always great. They keep you in the loop and do quality, prompt work. Weve specifically had Brandon out a couple of times for different things and he is awesome. Spends whatever time to troubleshoot problems and figure out a solution, he definitely knows his stuff. Nice guy too! But you cant go wrong with any of their plumbers, theyve all been top notch.

All of their staff are professional, friendly, and helpful (notably Chris who has been our plumber on both occasions). They are up front about pricing and what is entailed in the service. We will be continuing to use their services going forward.

I have had numerous plumbing issues the first months of moving into my home and they always came very quickly. Notably, they take the time to teach you what they are doing so you understand. Also, they gave me great advice on other home needs, as I am a first time home buyer. Chris, Art, and Ryan are phenomenal. Each one of them care about their clients and their work. They make sure their jobs are done correctly. I cannot thank them enough for all their hard work and skills!

I went with S &J to change out my tub faucet because of the great reviews on Google. Did not disappoint. Was more extensive than I expected, but I was informed every step of the way and given a lot of info. nothing you can do about original piping. But they made it pretty painless. Nice guys. 10 out of 10.

Brandon visited us to address a dripping issue and replace our faucet. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done. I appreciated his professionalism and expertise.However, I found the service to be very pricey. As a first-time customer, I expected the advertised $176 discount to be applied automatically, rather than being tied to a subscription offer. Trying to upsell a subscription when a customer already feels the pricing is high seems counterproductive. While I was happy with the quality of the work, the overall cost left me with mixed feelings.

Chris and S and J Plumbing did an excellent job fixing our leaky shower. They were the only company on Yelp that gave a personalized reply. They set up an appointment the next day. Chris was friendly and prompt. He assessed the issue and ordered the needed parts. S and J always answered my emails and the job was done before my house guests arrived. Chris made a return visit to replace a shower hose that want the perfect color. We couldnt be more pleased with his service and highly recommend S and J plumbing.

Had a major sewage blockage on a Friday. No one else had any availability. S&J was able to send someone first thing Saturday morning and they did an amazing job of solving the problem! And there was no upcharge for Saturday. They were efficient and exhibited a high degree of expertise. Mark was great! Would highly recommend them.

I had a great experience all around with S and J plumbing. I developed a clog in my kitchen sink that I was unable to clear on my own. I used the online scheduling tool and had an appointment confirmed for the very next morning. Chris explained everything well and pointed out a potentially dangerous situation with the existing water tank installation where the down angle of the exhaust vent could be resulting in Carbon Monoxide not exiting through the exhaust for the burnt gas (negative pitch of exhaust vent pipe.) A shorter water tank (same volume as we had) was used to accomplish the proper pitch of the exhaust pipe.Installation was done neatly and in an expeditious fashion.Chris managed the connection of copper pipe to galvanized steel pipe using a dielectric union (with a brass connector pipe I believe.)Installation completed yesterday, all good thus far.

The lady we talked to on the phone to book a plummer was so nice and went out of there way to make sure we had them come out the same day since we only have 1 bathroom and 3 kids. Just had them in again; theyve helped a bunch of times with replacing many things in my aging house. Always terrific, cant recommend highly enough. Knowledgeable people, very picky about their materials/parts/components; work is always excellent; have never had a problem afterwards with anything theyve done for me. Tend to charge above average but you get what you pay for, top people and top results are more than worth it. Absolutely outstanding business.The only critical thing I can say is dont have them flush your hot water heater--their price is exorbitant and anybody else will do it for far, far less. (Or learn to do it yourself, which Im doing.)Otherwise call them without hesitation, get the job done right and well.

Whole process from start to finish was excellent. Colleen in the customer service team was really thorough in setting us up with a service technician. Erik came out and was upfront explaining everything that needed to be done and gave us options on what we wanted to do and the different prices. Start to finish he took care of the work area and cleaned everything as he went. He was able to quickly address the lego clog in the pipes and refitted the failing steel one with pvc. Also knocked out the sink repairs and toilet replacement all in 1 day. Would definitely use again for any service needs and highly recommend.

Chris is great! S&J sent him within 2 hours of calling to repair 4 gas leaks in the furnace room. Nicor had shut off our gas at the meter. Chris found an additional leak & fixed it along with the 4 others. He also replaced some of the old pipes. In addition, our hot water heater is old & he successfully restarted the water heater. He said sometimes the old ones won’t restart. I highly recommend S&J based on our 1st time experience.

I called S&J first thing Monday morning to deal with a basement toilet with sewage backing up into the tub. Bad ejector pump.After speaking with the overnight answering service, Christa called back promptly and let me know Tim would be out right away.Tim and Dylan arrived roughly an hour after I spoke with Christa and were friendly and professional.My home is an older home and the previous owners built out the house over 20 years ago and we are finding they cut some corners.There was no clear access point to get to the ejector pump except through cutting through the floor in the mud room closet.Tim had the equipment to do visual assessments and provided me feedback on cost if they can get access and safely do the work as well as if they cut into the floor and found they could not do the work as originally described.Tim explained it thoroughly and was sure I was clear of the options and cost.Long story short, Tim and Dylan found a way. It was not easy or routine and they were able to perform the work safely in a very tight space.I am extremely pleased with my first experience from beginning to end with S&J Plumbing and they will have all my business in the future.This is how a service business should be staffed and run! Kudos to Tim and Dylan aka Diesel!

I’ve always had great service through S and J plumbing. Their communication is too notch prior to and during service. My property is a rental and they’ve always gone the extra mile in explaining once to me and then again to the landlord of the property to explain options. Today Eric talked me through what needed to be done and how they got that way in case any were preventable. Bonus points for answering a couple of my other random household systems questions like who to call for this or that. Will be using S and J again when something goes wrong but will be having them back sooner to replace a few shower heads free getting the quote today. Great work, and thorough communication from a local honest shop.

Jonny & Robby were great! We needed them to check for gas leaks after a new furnace was installed. They checked everywhere including in the crawl space. They didn’t find any leaks which was reassuring. They said it appeared to be from under the burners on our stove which is not very new. We added a couple of bathroom plumbing tasks which they were more than happy to complete. I highly recommend Jonny & Robby.

We had a wonderful experience with S&J! Our water heater finally reached the end of its life and we had been taking cold showers for weeks. Andrey and Chris came to take a look, and they were able to install a new water heater the same day! Supply was limited for an electric heater with our specific dimensions, but they made some calls and even drove over an hour to pick up the new heater. Andrey and Chris were both very friendly and professional, and they did a great job explaining all the work/parts that were required for the job. The cost was very reasonable!! I would definitely recommend S&J Plumbing for any of your plumbing/water heater needs!!

Gus arrived at my house on time. He was friendly, polite and efficient. I ended up needing a new wax ring besides the fill value and flipper that I knew I needed. He gave me an estimate for that and that with a new toilet with all new parts. He also gave me an estimate to fix just the fill value and flapper. I decided it would be best to take care of everything at one time so I went with that option. I also have a problem with my second bathroom’s toilet and while he was here I asked if he could give me an estimate for that as well. Without hesitation he said “yes”. I not only would recommend S and J Plumbing, I would recommend Gus in particular. I will be requesting that Gus come back and do the work on my second bathroom when I’m ready to do that.

Showed us the live video of the damage our maple tree had done to the line. About 4 feet of the cast iron pipe long with 90 deg elbow was removed and replaced. Then they againshowed us a live video of the repair line from the stack to the main sewer line totally clear.Dino, Cory and Nick were great. After having my pumps replaced in November of 2020, we woke up Monday morning to an issue with the ejector pump. First calling the plumber that replaced the pumps and finding out their plumbers all retired recently, I was finally referred to a team of plumbers at S and J Plumbing & Sewer. They acted quickly and have had a few guys come and help out within an hour on Monday and finishing up the inside work same day. I have been happy with their expertise and professionalism and recommend them to anyone that has any kind of plumbing issues. SandJ Plumbing saved the day. Our cat sitter mistakenly had been flushing clumping cat litter down the toilet for 6 days before it clogged. After researching several local plumbers, S and J had fewer reviews but what appeared to be better pricing and still very happy customers.I called early on a Saturday morning. The dispatcher lolsobbed with me about the situation then clearly explained the steps they would take to ensure I was continually aware of what was happening while also coordinating with our sitter for access to the home.There was no extra Saturday upcharge and the Drain Tech, Chris, came within an hour! (We did get a bit lucky there since he was nearby and didn’t have another appt yet). He came promptly, failed to call me before hand to clear the final price, rodded the drain in about 1 minute (thankfully the clog was local to the toilet), then ran the water from all taps in the house for about 5 minutes to ensure everything was clear.Look, I’m not going to lie; plumbing work is expensive but the speed, professionalism, and service restoration that I experienced with Chris, and SandJ Plumbing overall, made the experience far less painful than it could have been.Thank you all!

After attempting a plumbing repair and failing miserably, I let out a 911 call to S&J to see if they could help me and my leaking pipes and toilets. It was mid afternoon and Krista, who took my call, said that she would make every attempt to get someone over to my home later that afternoon. A few hours later Krista called back and apologized that she was unable to get a tech to my home, BUT I would be first on their appointments the following morning. Just before 8:00am this morning I received a call from S&J giving me the names of the techs who would be servicing my plumbing problems, sent me their names and photos, and told me to expect them to arrive at my residence within the next 30 minutes. Sure enough, about 8:30 this morning Ryan and John arrived at my residence. I explained what I had attempted to do myself, and showed them what needed to be done. I also mentioned to Ryan that I had a noon appointment in Chicago, and had to leave here by 11:00am. After assessing what needed to be completed he assured me that he and John could get everything finished before I had to leave. Ryan gave me a quote on what the charges would be, and once approved, he and John went to work. Both men were absolutely wonderful. They explained what I had done wrong, repaired my errors, exchanged or replaced some parts, and had everything working perfectly. They also had to repair a large leaking pipe in my basement which was completed and repaired. These men were impeccably clean, picked up after themselves, and left my residence as spotless as it had been before their arrival. These tech were gentlemen, extremely capable and competent, and assured me that I would have no further issues with the three items they addressed. And everything was finished by 11:00am. I cant thank them enough. One last thing - if anyone reading this review has need for a plumber or plumbing services, LOOK NO FURTHER. Your search is over. I was extremely fortunate to select S&J, and am so happy with the service that I received. Do yourself a favor - call S&J for your plumbing needs, youll be happy you did. I sure am!
