Chris and his team did a great job finishing our basement. He brought good judgment as well as good quality workmanship to the job. As an example, the space he finished had a number of load-bearing pillars to work around, and we appreciated and followed his recommendations on where to frame up the walls to create appropriately sized rooms and useful spaces from what might not otherwise have been an intuitive layout. Chris also had good recommendations in terms of quality versus cost in the materials he used. It has been a few years since the project, and everything is still working well. We would definitely use him again for a home renovation project.

Chris is the most meticulous contractor we have ever worked with. Stonegate came highly recommended (by word of mouth). He redesigned and completed out master bathroom and it is gorgeous! We then had him redo three other bathrooms, all of which turned out perfect. Chris is honest, transparent and reliable. He is every homeowners dream.

Chris and his team have touched most parts of our house. Chris has very high standards for workmanship and has identified many subcontractors who do high quality work. At the same time, he is very conscious of cost and will suggest ways to keep costs down without compromising the end result. His team is very courteous, work hard, and clean up pretty well after themselves. We will use Chris and his team again if we identify another project.

I love Stonegate Remodeling. The owner Chris Ham is the best. He listened to what I wanted, offered good advice when I asked for it, and sometimes when he felt I needed it. I had a whole-house renovation and I met his entire team - electrician, HVAC guy, plumbers, painters, etc. They were all professional, highly skilled, and often went above and beyond. The cost was reasonable and the work was done on schedule. My home is beautiful. I highly recommend Chris and his team at Stonegate.

Chris is a down-to-earth guy but a consummate professional and reliable builder and renovation expert. Ive worked with him for years on a number of different projects, both in the home I live in and investment properties. He and his crew always come through, and the work and service is always impeccable. Stonegate Remodeling is best described in my book as a Quality builder.

Chris Ham and staff from Stonegate Remodeling did a complete renovation of our kitchen. One of the many things that impressed us about Chris was his attention to detail. For example the wood floor installation by a sub did not align exactly with the existing hall floor. Chris found this unacceptable and was able to perfectly align the new wood kitchen floor with the old hallway wood flooring. Another example was a lower cabinet. The cabinet contractor did not take into account a plumbing vent. Chris found a way to make the cabinet work without any plumbing or major cabinet changes.Other things we appreciated was Chris being on-site, always being available, and thorough construction practices.

Ten years ago, Stonegate Remodeling remodeled and renovated our master bathroom. Last year, we decided it was time to update our two other bathrooms. We chose none other than Stonegate Remodeling to do the job. While at our home, we introduced them to our next door neighbors who were in need of two bathroom renovations. They, too, chose Stonegate. Chris and his team of craftsmen are professional, timely, polite, clean, and informative. We highly recommend them for any type of interior remodeling and renovation - kitchens, wine cellars, room additions, bathrooms and much more!

I’m usually reluctant to give ‘five stars’, for the simple reason that no-one’s perfect. But I’m making an exception here, because Chris Ham’s work stands out.Over the 12 years of our residency in Alexandria, we engaged Chris and his company for four major remodeling projects - ie full rip out and rebuild replacements - following a referral to him from our realtor, who always expressed admiration for his work.Those four were kitchen, master bathroom, hallway/small bathroom, and room above the garage. In addition, there were several smaller projects involving interior and exterior painting, and minor carpentry / drywall work. In each case, Chris completed the work on time, and within budget, and for many years afterwards, stood by it in terms of readiness to repair or touch up when needed.After his first two jobs for us, we didn’t even bother looking for other contractors, because we knew he would be difficult or impossible to beat on all criteria. He became our go-to guy for everything in terms of remodeling/repairs, or even just advice: we needed a full roof replacement, and although Chris did not offer that service, he advised us on the pros and cons of the leading local companies, enabling us to make a well-informed decision based on his objective advice, about which we have no regrets.I lost count of the number of times we’d have a household catastrophe (eg, a leaking upstairs pipe caused our dining room ceiling to collapse), and think of what a hassle getting it fixed would be; but Chris would turn up and explain why it was never the big deal I thought it was, and then prove it with his fast, high-quality work.I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Chris Ham and Stonegate Remodelling Inc for your remodeling or construction needs. In multiple jobs over a 12 period prior to our leaving Alexandria, he never came close to letting us down.Thank you, Stonegate Remodeling!

The craftsmanship is truly incredible, with every detail completed to perfection. What really stood out was their commitment to staying on budget—no surprises along the way! Stonegate took our late 1950s multi-story house down to the studs after we bought it from the original owner and built what has turned out to be a dream home that we absolutely love. We continue to get compliments on the house from neighbors and family/friends.When we first started the project, we interviewed a whole range of contractors at all levels and price points. We got an incredible vibe from Chris - and originally spoke with him based on references who praised his honesty, hard work and commitment to doing things the right way. We were delighted to find this to be absolutely the case. He made every step of this massive project almost entirely painless and stress free.As in any project of this scale, some unexpected things happen. Over and over, Chris personally stepped in to make everything work. On several of his weekly walks through of the house, he actually pointed out work that had not been done perfectly (which we had not even noticed!) that he insisted on having redone without cost to us. In fact, on one occasion, he replaced the subcontractors when they themselves complained about the high standard he was insisting upon.This attention to detail and sincere desire by the entire Stonegate Team to do work they would be proud of made this an incredibly positive experience. We would be delighted to work with them again.Everyone told us that a to the studs renovation would be dreadful. With Stonegate, it was an entirely positive experience. We never worried about anything because we always knew that Chris had our back and would be the first to tell us when something wasn’t needed, was too expensive or could be done some other way. All of his team was the same way: honest, punctual, hard working and 100% trust worthy. He hires for character and quality and it shows.Chris also was instrumental in lining up interior designers and other contractors he knew and trusted to do other work for us - gardening, drive way and additional electric work we wanted. We found that when we called and dropped his name, we got immediate responses and tremendous work. One even came on a weekend based on his fondness for Chris and the way the Stonegate Team treats him.At this point, there isn’t anybody else we would do a project with and Chris and Stonegate will always be our first stop for any renovation/construction projects. We highly recommend them and know you’ll be as satisfied as we were.These guys are NOT to good to be true — they are the team you want. Do yourself a favor, hire them. They are the best!

I have taken the guesswork out of finding the right contractor and have been using Stonegate Remodeling for over 15 years. Stonegate has done several projects at my house including the primary bathroom and kitchen. Stonegate exceeds my expectations with every project. The attention to detail and communication throughout the project are important qualities that Chris and his team deliver. They are trustworthy and will care for and respect your house as they did mine each and every time.
