Purchased a gut reno early in 2023. after living in the house for a year we understood the hot/cold spots and got an energy audit done. some key areas were identified and reasonable recommendations were made to improve the energy efficiency and comfort of the home. andrew was a pleasure to work with, and the crews he brought in over the 2 days did a phenomenal job prepping, performing, patching, and cleaning the work areas. would highly recommend performing an energy audit with alligood in homes of all ages!

We desperately needed attic insulation and we landed on Alligood to help us get the job done. Andrew was helpful and answered all of my questions prior to the install, they were also much more affordable than some of the other companies we spoke with. The team that came out worked quickly and shared photos throughout the install so we were confident that all of our bases were covered. We felt an immediate difference in comfort and are very happy with the job. Would definitely work with them again, highly recommend!

Had Alligood Energy come out to do some blow in insulation in my roof, we soon discovered that I had absolutely no insulation in my roof and they were able to dense pack the entire available area. The difference is night and day, I’m noticing a 40% reduction in heating and cooling cost. I do have a Philadelphia row home, so most of my exposed envelope was the roof.

Had a great experience with Alligood Energy - they were friendly, flexible, and prompt and gave me good explanations of the house assessment and also the work they did, and they retested air flow again after insulating to show exactly what the insulation had accomplished. Last year my pipes froze any time the temp went below 15ish and now the basement feels almost as warm as the rest of the house. I’d recommend them to anyone who has questions about air flow or energy efficiency of their home.

Great experience with Alligood Energy. The performed audit and made recommendations. I got 2 other quotes from companies to fix the problems they identified, but none of the companies prices or overall approach compared with Alligoods proposal. Went with them and they showed up fast, kept everything very clean (cleaner then when they found it to be honest) and resulted in a 41% reduction in airflow leakage in our old house and brought us up to current energy standards for insulation in the attic. Will definitely help a lot for re-sale value in the future too. Highly recommend!

I had a very positive experience working with Jeff, Matt, and Alligood Energy. We have a 90+ year old home in Ardmore and we had Jeff and Matt come out to do an energy audit to find ways to make our home more energy efficient. The process they used seemed very thorough and they took the time to explain the different aspects of the audit along the way. The audit identified several ways in which our home could be better insulated and we had them come back a week later to address the issues in our attic and basement. The team who performed the work also did a good job explaining and documenting what they were doing and took the time to put down plastic on our hardwood floors to minimize any residual messes, which was greatly appreciated. I have no hesitation recommending Alligood.

Alligood did a great job with our house. They gave an honest assessment, helped us decide which changes would make the biggest differences, and did the work for a great price. By the time they finished, our bedroom was 5 degrees warmer, and they cleaned up so well you couldnt even tell there had been work done (other than the improved insulation). Now that weve had some very cold and windy nights, I can say the work was worth every penny.

Great experience with Matt Alligood! You can trust Alligood to critically analyze your home and offer you menu-style solutions to various issues. Best parts - you can trust them; they are professional, reliable, respectful and nice to deal with. I also called Horizon, and their guy was some standard reply person who had 10% of the insulation knowledge of Alligood. You cannot go wrong with Alligood; they are a refreshingly enjoyable smaller, family-owned company looking to make you more comfortable in your home. Call these guys, you will not regret it!

Andrew and his team were amazing! They were efficient, cleaned up well, and the cost was fair for the labor involved. Andrew was responsive throughout and his team was friendly. The turnaround between the estimate and scheduling was exceptionally as I am used to contractors not always responding quickly. Overall, grateful to have a comfort in my home I have not known since purchasing it and especially ahead of a big storm coming this week!

I had a real good experience with Jeff and the Alligood Energy team. They were very professional through out the process. In the initial audit they didnt try to up-sell me on any unnecessary work and provided written results along with pictures of potential problems. I appreciated Jeffs upfront and honest approach. When they came to do the work they laid plastic down from the front door to where they were working in the attic, and cleaned up after themselves. After they finished, I received a written report, along with more pictures of the work, documenting the change in air leakage. I would recommend them to friends and family.

This summer when we had our air conditioner serviced, the serviceman noted what little insulation we had in our attic where the air conditioner sits. He suggested we have an energy audit done on our home, which was performed by Alligood Energy for only $99. Jeff spent three hours with us, first performing comprehensive tests and evaluations, then sitting down with us and providing a detailed explanation of his findings along with several optional solutions. We found him to be very knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous, and we never felt pressured into anything. Over the course of the next week, he freely gave his time to answer further questions for us. Once we made our decision, brothers Jeff and Matt and their team came to our home to redo all of the insulation in the attic. They worked efficiently, were respectful of our property, and did a fantastic job, going beyond what we had expected. We are very satisfied with their work and highly recommend them.

I want to give an update review because i am so pleased with the job Alligood Energy did. Although we had a mild winter, the difference in my house after the energy retrofit is almost indescribable. Its a different house that is actually warm without cranking the heat above 70. I unequivocally recommend this company.

One tough job...Remove old squirrel-infested insulation, sanitize the attics, install venting ducts, and replace with R15 blown-in insulation.I have to apologize. I intended to review Alligood shortly after the work was done in mid-2015, but apparently messed-up.Jeff Alligood was a pleasure to work with...responsive, professional, and very willing to go the extra mile to help solve our problems.We had squirrels in the attic that trashed the insulation. We scheduled a new roof which included sealing up all the areas where the critters could get in. But then we had to deal with the unhealthy rodent mess. I called over a dozen insulation companies and none were willing to REMOVE insulation. Then I got hold of Jeff thru Angies List.Not only did they remove all the old, but they also agreed to sanitize both attics. I purchased Odoban from Home Depot which eliminates mold and odors (highly recommended). Jeffs crew sprayed everything and then installed the ducts and insulation.Jeff coordinated the removal and installation to coincide with the roofers so that access could be thru the roof ( which was the only way to access the attic). It all went like clockwork, His team stayed late (7PM+) to insure all was done and the roof sealed up for the night. Before they left they cleaned up so there was no sign they had been working on the house the entire day. Everything was All (i) Good !!!I highly recommend Alligood Energy...!

We were very happy with both the initial energy audit and the subsequent work we had done. We met Jeff and Matt at the Home Show, and we booked a home energy audit while at the show. They followed up on the appointment date, and Jeff came when scheduled. Jeff did an extensive audit, and showed us where we were loosing energy. We decided to follow his recommendations.On the schedule work day, Jeff and his crew showed up as scheduled, protected their work area, and quickly went to work. They were all very professional. The work took about 5 hours, and when they were done, Jeff showed us and explained what had been done. The difference is incredible. We reduced the lose of energy by 26.5%.We are very satisfied with the work they did, and would gladly recommend them to anyone considering reducing the lose of energy in their home by having an energy audit.

We contacted Alligood Energy to initially install a new heating and air conditioning system to replace our 27 year old inefficient units because Gene Alligood had done work for us previously and we liked the fact that was a conscientious, meticulous, and skilled tradesman. An Energy Audit was suggested and performed to see how we could better improve our home beyond the replacement of the energy system—my wife and I knew there were hot and cold spots throughout the house, but not exactly what was causing them.Mr. Alligood and his son came into the home, measured, tested, and evaluated every possible place they could get to. Infrared images graphically showed the spots that were always cold in winter and hot in summer due to poor or no insulation, no weather sealing, and poor construction thus causing our high-energy bills and discomfort. He prepared and presented a detailed, informative evaluation report.We developed a plan that was to be done in stages-as we could afford them. Initial efforts were to tighten up the house by doing simple things and by relocating of the new furnace, piping and some of the ductwork to help getthe heated/cool air where it needed to go more effectively. We decided to upgrade to higher efficiency models with “energy-star” ratings to take advantage of current rebates and $$ saving over the long haul. What a difference!!Mr. Alligood and his crew of workers were punctual, respectful of household routines, and neat in their work habits. The mechanical assembly of the heating and cooling units was tight—precise. Even the independent inspector, who talked with me as a follow-up to the audit, remarked that he hadn’t seen many jobs done this well. Made me feel good!Not only have house temperatures been more constant throughout, but, weve noticed how much more comfortable it has been both upstairs and downstairs. I have been tracking the savings on our monthly gas/electric bills and am seeing the new units paying for themselves. However, the more significant benefit for us has been the improved comfort level--being warm in winter (especially this winter) and being able to sleep upstairs in the heat of summer. I’m sure as we complete the other stages of the Alligood Energy plan, it will continue to improve our comfort level.Overall, I am thoroughly pleased with the job Alligood Energy did for my family. I would highly recommend them if you are tackling the energy issues in your existing home. It is nice to see craftsmen who takepride in their work--making homes more energy efficient and comfortable.

The crew at Alligood were great. They spray foamed my attic, a 3rd floor wall and a drafty cut out off our kitchen. They also found numerous other leaks which I will have to address in the coming months. The pricing is very reasonable and the guys are very professional. I will do some more business Whit them in the near future.

After doing a thorough assessment of our 120 year old house, Matt sent us an estimate for addressing the problems . We chose ro address one of the two options provided. Matt and his crew arrived promptly and completed the insulation of our house within a day, working until early evening. They were polite, hardworking ,answered all of our questions and cleaned up thoroughly. We would use their services again.Although not enough time has passed for us to see the results of their work( electric bill reduction, less use of oil etc. we expect positive results. They insulated and sealed the air leak areas in the basement and third floor, including crawl spaces, and neatly finished the areas where they blew insulation.

We had a terrific experience with this company. They first came to our house to do an energy audit and then spent a lot of time with us answering questions and giving us options. They helped us convert our house to gas, replace our boiler, and insulate our attic. The whole process was painless thanks to them. The monthly cost for all of the work they did is less than how much we used to spend per month on oil alone. I would highly recommend them.

Cant recommend these guys enough. Very professional, friendly, and straightforward. Theyre in and out quickly and wont try to upsell you for unnecessary work.My personal experience: after they blew 1+ feet of insulation into my attic, I felt an immediate difference (within a few hours). I set my thermostat 2 degrees lower than what it was before, and it actually feels warmer throughout my house (and hopefully it will be cooler when summer comes around). My roommate came home afterwards and thought I had RAISED the thermostat. Wish I had gotten this work done sooner...

I think the person who gave them a one star just has an axe to grind, there are always crazy people out there, it sounds like he just wanted somebody to be mad at.Had them insulate my basement and it made so much of a difference, am most likely going to have them back to do my attic as well.Very straightforward and timely!

Jeff did an excellent job helping us take care of some low hanging fruit with regard to our insulation. He was very responsive to initial questions by email and helped walk my wife and I through the scope of work. Work was completed as fast as they said it would take, and Jeff and his crew were professional and courteous. He performed a fan test immediately after the work and we saw an 18% improvement which we expect will pay for itself in less than two years. There was no pressure to try to tackle parts with a low ROI, which I greatly appreciated.

Matt Alligood did a phenomenal job at not only assessing the air leaks in our home with thermal imaging equipment, but also documenting it with photos and thorough descriptions and taking the time to sit down and explain it to my husband.We normally get multiple quotes from contractors for work to be performed in our home, but we were so impressed with Alligood Energy that that was not necessary in this instance.Less than 2 weeks after our initial energy evaluation, Matt and his crew showed up at the promised day and time to carry out the work. They were thorough, cleaned up debris from the insulation and took after photos to enable us to compare what our attic looked like prior to the insulation and afterward.We would recommend them to anyone and everyone looking to create more efficiency in their home energy use.

Matt and the team at Alligood Energy were amazing every step of the way. A friend of mine referred me to them after using them for his house and enjoying a much warmer winter last year. I signed up for the audit and Matt came out on time within 2 weeks of contacting them.He is a super down to earth guy who really understands home energy and walked me through the different areas of our 110 year old house that needed the most work. He also talked us out of doing more expensive things like upgrading windows until we sealed up all of the open areas with insulation. A couple of weeks later, the team came out to seal up our house with spray foam insulation and by fixing some other issues like doors and windows. As a result, the air flow showed a +52% reduction in air leakage. More importantly, the cold rooms are already a lot warmer!Ive already recommended Matt to a family member based on this great experience. It is always great to find an honest, family owned business who loves their craft and does it with excellence.

Family business. Gene leads the charge with sons Matt and Jeff constantly on site and in contact about the ins and outs of the job. Genes brother Mark and his son Jeremy handled the HVAC end of the job. This company makes a good appearance, is up to date on technology and information, and the pricing of the different elements of the job were competitive. After meeting them, I had absolutely no hesitations about leaving them in my house with my family or by themselves. They were very considerate, clean and even kept an eye on the family dog for us.I had a complete HVAC overhaul - new heating system (converted from oil to gas heat) and new AC unit. The job was done on time (2 days) and to complete satisfaction.I also had two attics completely insulated. Again, the job was done in a timely fashion (1 day) as advertised.Gene also installed an exhaust fan in my bathroom. No complaints.Overall, a company with the right approach and fantastic work product. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Made appointment with you guys to come out and do a home energy audit.they showed up on time with all their equipment and spend an awful lot of time checking for leaks in hooking up their equipment and they ran some tests.the test showed some of the leaks in my house and where I was losing energy and they came up with some solutions presented it kind of ala carte and let me choose what it was that I would get the most bang for my buck.made an appointment and again they showed up on time with all their equipment and the people they need to tell him and now my home is way more energy efficient that was.not only what I highly recommend to other people Ive already recommended them to my daughter. They were very professional and helpful and went above and beyond what they had promised they under promised and over delivered.Im almost done again almost cant wait to see my heating bills this winter to see just exactly how this worked out.

Working with Alligood Energy has been an absolute pleasure! I have been looking to get some energy work done to my home for quite some time given how high my energy bills and how uncomfortable some of the bedrooms are in the summer. I was not sure who to call but then I was referred by a friend who also had Jeff and Matt Alligood do an energy audit on their home and they loved it! Brothers, Jeff and Matt were very professional and courteous all the way through the audit – I was very impressed. As they set up the equipment, they helped explained to me exactly what was happening so I could try to follow along with what they were doing. They tested out my home with the use of a infrared camera which was very eye opening in finding out some of the problems behind the walls and hidden spaces. After they ran all the tests, they then produced a full blown report with pictures and pricing for me with a return on investment report that they presented to me. They were done in under 3 hours and it only cost me $99. I will definitely be recommending them to my close friends!

I had the pleasure of having Alligood Energy perform some work on my house. I quickly learned how expensive heating a house is, especially when I could feel cold drafts throughout the house with the heat on. I came across them while researching energy audits for the first house I bought earlier this year. They were offering a special where for $99 they would do a full energy audit.I scheduled an audit at night for the next day and within a half hour had a personal email from Matt Alligood confirming the appointment and giving me a brief rundown of what he would be doing the next. He arrived right on time the next day and was loaded with tons of diagnostic equipment that would pinpoint the weak areas in my houses air envelope. Matt is an incredibly friendly guy and explained each piece of equipment he was using and how they use it to determine where the weak points where in the house. The audit was very thorough. Before any of the equipment was set up, Matt and I went around the house and he looked at typical weak areas where air leaks, he then also had me note any areas I found to be a problem. After that he set up the blower door test and began going around the house with the thermal camera which showed the degree of air infiltration.After going through the house, Matt prepared a list of suggestions and recommendations and went through them one by one. I never got the impression that he was trying to upsell or push me into expensive fixes that would never pay for themselves, he instead focused on reasonably priced fixes that would make a big difference in energy costs and comfort in the house. While he wasn’t pushing for upgrading the HVAC or windows at this time, he did mention when it comes time to replace them anyway, upgrading them at that time would improve the results. All in all, Matt spent over 3 hours during the audit, all for the special rate of $99, an absolute bargain.That night I received a detailed audit report which included recommendations for spray foaming the craw space and band joists, air sealing the attic, adding more insulation to the attic, and spray foaming a particularly weak area under my laundry chute. The price seemed very reasonable for the amount of work and labor involved. I set up the appointment for a few weeks later to have the recommendations installed.The crew arrived on time and they got right to work. Plastic was rolled out to anywhere they would be walking to make sure the house would be nice and clean when they left. The total install time was about six hours. All the guys were working non-stop and were incredibly professional. After everything was done, Matt walked around and showed me the improvements that were made and reran the diagnostic tests. The tests showed a dramatic reduction in air leakage. I also got a close out report showing the before and after pictures, as well as the test results, something that will be good to have if I end up selling my home and want to point out the upgrades. The payment process is painless, I chose one of their payment plans and everything is automatically done through Paypal.It’s been just shy of a year since I’ve had the upgrades performed. In the summer, I got away with hardly using the Air conditioning. At night, I could open all the windows and cool down the house, then during the day with all the air sealing and insulation the house remained cool until night time rolled around again. Only during prolonged periods of heat or when guests came over would I need to use the Air conditioner.We also just finished our first winter with the improvements. Last winter, we went through over 800 gallons of heating oil, this season, we’ve been below 500 gallons of heating oil. The house also feels much more comfortable.Overall, I would have to say the investment I made with Alligood Energy was a great one. The improvements are already saving energy and making my house more comfortable. I also was very pleased with the customer service that I received, and would recommend them to anybody.

We took advantage of an offer from our homecare company for a free energy audit. Matt & Jeff showed up with all the necessary gear in tow, and completed a visual inspection & blower-door test.They then sat down with us to review their findings, test results & remediation recommendations, broken down by cost/effectiveness/anticipated results/ROI.We fully discussed where our home was in good shape and didnt require remediation - - along with areas where the cost of remediation vs results/savings would not warrant performing such work - -, as well as areas where remediation would result in energy savings and/or more seasonal comfort. We were provided with pictures of all areas being discussed, which was especially beneficial for areas not usually visible to homeowners.We were also provided with a cafeteria-style menu of options & costs from which we could select what we wanted done. Specific areas we remediated as part of our first phase of work was: (1) Sealing all areas of air penetration in our attics, including wall joists, as well as installing thermal hi-hat covers above lights over living areas, (2) installed baffles & air-sealed around both attics to help ventilate properly & prevent wind-washing of/thru existing insulation, (3) added an R-30 cap to the attic access opening. Options pending for later phases include blowing-in additional insulation to the attics and adding foam insulation around exposed areas of basement band-joists.The house has been noticeably more comfortable since, without breezes caused by air infiltration. We are quite happy with the work performed by Matt & Jeff and their crew.Matt and Jeff were extremely professional and knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything they were doing every step of the process. They also responded quickly and completely to every e-mail I sent with follow-up questions or requests for information/explanations, etc. In person & via e-mail, they explained everything thoroughly & in a manner that helped me understand what was going on with our home, where they recommended improvements, and how everything would be done.They were also very flexible in helping us schedule the work both in phases and around several family obligations, and still get the work done before winter set in. They were also receptive to suggestions & options I inquired further about. There was no hard-sell on their end. They understood our desire to do a first phase of the recommended remediation work, see how effective & cost-saving they turned out, and then go ahead and schedule later phases as necessary. They also offered, as long as they were already up there, to re-route our bathroom exhaust hose at no additional expense, to a new exhaust vent recently installed along with our new roof.The day they came in person to do the work, Matt and Jeff had all necessary materials and tools with which to perform the job, and were accompanied by two additional workmen. With protective floor covers laid down throughout the work area in the house, they all got quickly to the work at hand. As any questions came up, they were quick to point out and discuss them with me. The work was performed quickly, completely, and with very little noise, in less than a day. Everyone cleaned/vacuumed behind themselves once the jobs were done.Once completed, Matt & Jeff provided us with an updated blower report/figures which indicated a greater reduction in airflow than even they had anticipated from just the options we had selected. They also provided us with new after pictures of the remediated areas, so we could see (and provide to any future buyer) all the improvements made.It was a pleasure having them work with us!
