    My heat went out (bad control panel) a couple weeks ago when we had an ice storm. A tech came out within hours of me contacting my warranty company and was able to help me have a temporary fix to get by until a new control panel could be ordered. They came out today and installed it. Not only did they fix the problem, they gave me a short-term solution so I had heat in the meanwhile. Great service!

    I love these guys! We’ve worked with them for our business for 3+ years. We have a roof top unit so the heat has gone out a couple times from storms. They are always available so quickly to get the problem resolved! The owner Jake was really great to work with during both of our build outs!

    So glad that Modern added plumbing to their business. We had the pleasure of using their business through American Home Shield at the beginning of the year. In short, we ended up receiving a new furnace. Since they were going to be here doing that, we received a decent discount on a new central air unit. They also informed us that they were now doing plumbing. Perfect timing as we were having work done on our bathroom and needed assistance from a plumber. Along came the very sweet Mr Lake. While here, he gave us some reasonable estimates for whole home water filters & softeners. Given the notice we received from the city in reference to lead in our exterior water line, we went ahead and had the filter installed. He was in and out within an hour and a half!

    I just had these guys replace my central air system after my compressor shorted out. Corbin got me a great price for the new system, got me scheduled right away, had it all replaced in a half day and walked me through everything they did. Great communication and service.     In April of this year, we had our complete HVAC system replaced by Modern Heating and Air. Jordan , Corbin, and the crew that installed the new system were awesome. They had our new system installed in under a day, and it was done so well, I have to say I was impressed! Today was the 6 month check up, and our system is running perfectly.     Modern Heating & Air replaced our entire HVAC system over the summer. They were incredible to work with from the beginning. Our air went out when it was extremely hot this summer and their staff dropped off a portable air conditioner to our home to get us by until they did the installation. Their scheduling staff took time to answer my (many) questions, and all of the staff that worked on our system were so kind when they arrived and throughout the day at our home. They walked me through all of the updates and I wasnt rushed with follow up questions. Pricing was really fair, and I could not recommend this company more for any HVAC needs.

    Modern Heating & Air has got to be the best outfit in the Des Moines Metro area for all your HVAC needs. I cannot recommend them highly enough- not sleezy, not pushy, not trying to find ways to upcharge you. Super professional but also super chill. I felt like each person I interacted with became my buddy and Im pretty picky about my buddies. Just do it. Work with them.For the those who want a longer story:I had an old system that needed to be replaced. The sales guy that worked with me (Corbin) was fantastic. Listened to what I needed, did a great in-person survey of the house, and gave me honest and informative answers to my many questions. He didnt push me or try to upsell me on crap I didnt need. He gave me several options within my budget and walked me through the cost/benefits of each option. Super helpful. He found me some discounts and worked it all out with my schedule. Fast and smooth process with regular check-ins along the way.The install team was even better. Really cool guys who were all professional, clean, well-mannered, and funny. (Listening to their friendly banter while they worked was quite entertaining.) Aaron (install leader) was again very knowledgeable, walked me through everything they were doing, answered my questions, and did a great job. They left the place better than they found it in every way, and did it fast. They had to do a lot of stuff as they were refitting and upgrading from an old system over 30 years old but they got it all done in less than 8 hours.A week later, the system is running great and hasnt given us any problems at all. The new thermostat has been easy to use and everything about our air system is better now. I cant recommend these guys enough and will be telling all my friends about them.

    Tired of window air units and space heaters, we went on an HVAC journey to update the second floor of our 100yr old home, which was freezing in the winter and boiling in the summer. Silas talked us through our options and system design, and Steve, Tom, and the whole crew did an amazing job on the installation. We will absolutely use Modern in the future. They are a fantastic group of people.

    Our AC went out on a Monday at like 3:30PM. After freaking out because it was like 95 degrees outside with a heat index warning, I called our home warranty and they booked with these folks. I immediately turned around and called them and asked for after hours support since it was so late in the day and they told me one of their technicians would be out shortly and gave me a 2 hour window. Jake arrived literally 20 mins later.Let’s be real, nobody likes having broken stuff. And summertime can be pretty harsh for homeowners. As a first time homeowner and a dog-dad of 3, it’s absolutely scary when stuff like this breaks. But these folks gave the absolute best service that anyone in our situation could ask for. They were such a pleasure to work with, their integrity absolutely blew me away, all their staff was incredibly knowledgeable and very prompt, and our technician, Jake, was an absolute legend.This was my first time working with you folks and it, without question, will not be my last. Big shoutout to Jake, Crystal, and Nick plus the rest of the team for all that you do. Thank you so so much for all your help restoring our AC. You all are truly incredible.

    When our HVAC was going out, after living in our fully renovated home for just 3 years, we had to deal with the home warranty to replace the unit with an upgrade program (to be fair it was a 35+ year old HVAC, but worked). Modern Heating and Cooling was chosen as the vendor through the warranty. Nick worked tirelessly to get the warranty to pay a credit toward the full install (including several hours on hold). Steve walked us through code updates, but coming and taking thorough notes and measurements, and gave us the specs to create a new doorway/ access door to the HVAC, to meet new code. Chrystal at dispatch kept me updated along with Nick on the process of getting new equipment after paying. And the day of, Thomas and Darren were professional, kind, and walked us through everything with our new HVAC. After a month without AC in the heat of July, we finally slept soundly, and our house is so comfy now. Our nearly 100 year old home is now 100% fully renovated and we couldnt feel more blessed.     I am beyond happy with Modern heating and cooling. My salesperson, Silas, spent serious time, making sure my system was absolutely perfect for my house at a very reasonable price. He is extremely knowledgeable, and he educated me in depth about my system. He also spent a lot of time understanding my needs before he ever started working on an estimate.. I purchased a heat pump system, which is much more efficient than a standard air conditioner/furnace or boiler. It is all run on electric, so I have basically wiped out natural gas bills in the winter, and I have solar panels that provide the electricity for my system. Also, the install crew was efficient, friendly, and careful. They have stopped out a couple times to make minor adjustments, always with a smile, and never with a charge. You absolutely cannot go wrong. If you work with this company.

    Extraordinary service! The day the furnace quit I had another company give me a quote and an appointment for installation 10 days in the future. And, there were things about that bid that left me uneasy, such as telling me I needed a furnace twice the BTUs as my house requires. The next morning, Corbin came, gave me a competitive quote, and concisely answered all the questions my research had left me wanting answered. Six or seven hours later I had an appropriate-for-my-house furnace installed and warming both my cold shoulders and the cockles of my heart. I cannot think of any ways the experience could have been better. If only every home project could be as effectively and pleasantly executed as the Modern Heating furnace installation was done!

    Jordan just came out because my blower fan wasn’t kicking on. Not only was he here at the beginning of the time window I was given, but he went straight to work looking at my pretty old unit. He looked and diagnosed it pretty much before taking the plate off the front of the unit. Ran some more tests and he was right. Replaced it in less than an hour and was on his way. He was very knowledgeable about all aspects and took the time to explain everything that he was doing and the parts he was replacing. He never pushed anything, even when I opened the door asking a million questions about things like loyalty programs and new units. Actually gave me suggestions that made sense after I asked his opinion. The final bill was not a shock as it seemed right in line, if not less than I was expecting. It was a great experience from Chrystal in the office to Jordan on site. Believe 100% all of these 5 star reviews. My only regret is not finding you sooner. Thank you for all of your help!

    My furnace went out late Saturday night. I got ahold of Corbin Sunday morning and said I was tired of worrying about my old furnace and ready to get a new one. Within 24 hours they were at my house installing a new furnace at a great price. Our old furnace couldn’t keep up with these cold temps and it was so nice having a furnace last night that kept up and I didn’t have to worry about.     We decided to replace our AC and furnace and called several local companies to get quotes and to talk through our options. In fact, their pricing for an upgraded system beat several competitors’ pricing on lower-tier options.Aaron and his team showed up on time to install the system and were all very friendly and efficient. Even after a long day, the guys were not in a hurry to get out the door.     When i asked for a ballpark estimate on replacing my entire hvac system Corbin was great and straight to the point. We scheduled a in-home quote and found that Moderns prices were roughly 25% less than most of the other companies i contacted. Then they were able to get my install scheduled within a week of my quote. Aaron, Evan, and Daren installed everything smoothly and explained what they did, the new equipment and how it all worked together. Definitely sticking with Modern from now on!

    My wife and I had our furnace go out a few weeks ago. We had modern mechanical recommended to us by a friend, so we gave them a call. They were at our house within a half hour with a very nice and professional worker who quickly diagnosed the problem. We ended up needing an entirely new furnace and water heater, but they were able to come out and install it all for us the next day! They pointed out some ways that our previous water heater had been installed incorrectly, which meant that when one of the motors failed it could have risked exposing us (and our baby girl) to carbon monoxide leaking! Yikes! But they installed everything correctly for us, so we no longer have to worry about that problem! Everything was fast, professional, they were helpful in showing us how to operate our new unit. They also gave us a better price than anywhere else we looked. We could not recommend anywhere else more!

    When my furnace quit working... I put a call out on facebook for recommendations. I initially called a competitor, who informed me I needed a new furnace - but was unable to come give me an estimate until the next day.     I was first introduced to Modern Mechanical as a recommendation for maintenance on a commercial property. After their first visit they became our go to source for all maintenance, repairs and replacements.     It has been 5 months since we got a new A/C and furnace and we have been extremely happy. Our house was nice and cool all summer long. The A/C unit did a great job at lowering the humidity in the house which allowed us to set the thermostat at a higher temperature than before and help save on our energy bill. Sleeping at night during the summer was incredibly comfortable. We have only had one chance to turn on the heat and it worked quickly and efficiently. We have had no complaints what so ever. We cannot thank Silas enough for spending the time to help us with our decision. One of the best and easiest experiences I’ve had giving someone my money.     I got this companies number from my home inspector. A month after we moved in, I came home around 6 to find out our furnaces inducer motor went out leaving us without heat on a pretty cold night in December. I called the number given to me and it happened to be the owners personal phone number who was currently not working.Regardless not being at work and sounded like he was with some kids, he handled the call as if he were working. He said he would have someone out within an hour or so, which was fine. He called back a couple of minutes later and said that he had someone within the area and that they would be there in about 10 minutes.The guy came and was extremely friendly. He diagnosed our issue and gave tips on how to maintain/things to do. I asked him about some quotes for putting in a home humidifier and a return vent for our basement which he went through the process on what they would likely have to do and a quote.He looked up the part information and found out that a place would be open early in the morning and that he would run out there and grab the part and be out early in the morning to fix our issue.Next morning he gave us a call and was right in, fixed the issue pretty quickly and right out. Still a super positive and great mood.I would definitely recommend using this company. I plan on using them for any work going forward as well as likely signing up for their maintenance service.

    Customer for life!!A great company is one that addresses customers concerns and are committed to making their business the best while improving the experience for customers. Modern Heating and Air Conditioning is a great company.I did have a concern, but Jake the owner called me personally and we discussed what I thought was missing. They were implementing communication and follow ups prior to my review. It was on their radar as a need. They didnt just talk to me to make me feel better. There is true concern for their customers and wanting to work with them for a lifetime. Very impressed.I also have to compliment Silas. He too reached out had a great conversation on how things could get better and many of the things at Modern have implemented will do that.Air Balancing - I also had Silas come out and do the air balancing to deliver the right amount of air to each room and reduce those rooms that are to hot and cold. He spent over 4 hours measuring and adjusting. We can already tell a difference. I would highly recommend air balancing Modern offers. I have already mentioned it to several people complaining they cant get this room or other warm or cold enough. Very impressive on what he can do.OLD - outdatedIt has been bugging me for some time that Modern Heating and Air Conditioning seem to be our for the quick sale versa being a partner in my heating and cooling. I have put in a couple unit over my home ownership and worked with several companies. I would say Modern has the worst after the sale follow up. Modern sold me a unit and I have never heard from them again. I dont know if it was because I didnt go for any of Silass up sales or they just move on to the next person. Now that Im ready to do my annual maintenance I will be looking for someone else to perform my annual check ups.That is my complaint. I did give them 2 stars only because I have been very happy with my heating and cooling unit. We have been much warmer this winter and cooler last summer. What they told us has come true with their product. I too would agree they were on time. Installed the unit quickly and cleaned up very well after the install.Modern need to work on making customer for life vs. making a sale.

He wasnt pushy about it and took the time to understand our circumstance. he took an abundance of time to explain everything to me and go over every option that might help us. It did not feel like a pushy sales proposition. Assuming we can get good financing we do intend to have them replace our furnace and AC unit.

    I had an exceptional experience with the Modern Mechanical Team. First Silas performed a Air diagnostics with my current AC unit and determined it was not working to its capacity...it needed updated. He scheduled me in 2 days to have the new unit installed. A team of installers Max and Travis worked together removing and replacing the AC in a matter of hours without a glitch. I was really impressed how these two worked together as a team.     **8/24/23 update: AC stopped working during the 100 degree plus heatwave. Called Modern after hours on Wednesday and they called me back first thing Thursday morning, amd scheduled a technician to come out. They texted me when Dan S. was on his way, and Dan was here shortly after. Dan was able to diagnose the problem after asking me some questions, amd replaced my capacitor. AC works like a charm now and the home is cooling off. Dan is polite, respectful and was very efficient. We were the 1000th capacitor that Dan had replaced just this summer! Cost was less than I thought. Modern Heating &Air is a great company and I still highly, highly recommended.**Had Modern Mechanical come out to do a Furnace tune up. When I scheduled it, they told me they would call me when they were on their way, and they did in fact call me about 35 minutes before the technician showed up, just like they said. Randy was the Modern Mechanical technician who came out and he was awesome. He let me tag along with him and was extremely informative about everything. I asked alot of questions and he answered them all. Randy was extremely professional and polite. Modern Mechanical installed the furnace and air conditioner at our last house and I will continue to do business with them at our new house .

    From start to finish, the Modern team is Top Notch. My furnace quit working in the dead of winter. Colten was first rep to diagnose and gave several options to pick from. Because of the square footage of the house and the energy efficiency, I chose a Daikin. He was a dynamic and bright young member of the team took care of finding a slot the next day as it was well below freezing.Aaron B. arrived for the install and immediately I could tell he knew exactly what was needed and began the extraction of the old unit and how to match up the new to the existing ductwork. It was an all day project and in to the evening in order to return heat to the house. Reconnecting the lines and installing the AC uint outside in the winter was brutal surely. Mindful of tracking snow and debris in the house they took precaution the whole time.I Dont recall the name of the last installer that came, but another extremely bright guy that dialed in the programming of system by computer so it ran as efficiently as the unit was capable. Lastly, the owner, Jake called to ask how my experience was that he appreciated my business and if I had any issues to please let him know.I would recommend anyone in need of services to give them a call. You will not be disappointed. Fair pricing, excellent service, and highly professional and knowledgeable staff to deal with the high efficiency systems of today.Update September 1, 2021 - I had an issue with my Unit, and was surprised it happened since I replaced my whole system 1 1/2 years ago. I must applaud the Modern Heating and Air team once again. found the issue, replaced the part, and everything was warrantied and did not have to hassle with any warranty company.Every staff member I have had to my home is sincere, respectable, and polite.
