Neighbors recommended John Nugent & Sons. Days before our Christmas trip, our washing machine died. A new machine could be installed the day after we returned but the electrical outlet had to be updated first. Called Nugent’s and Doug Boyer arrived early Christmas Eve, made the updates in time for us to catch our flight to Phoenix. Fantastic service! .

We are so thankful we made the change and cannot share enough good things about Magic Mike and Brad who came out and serviced a number of plumbing needs at our home. The initial consult was great and helpful on where to shop for quality faucets. On the day of, they went over what they’d be doing (7 areas of work) and their workmanship was top notch. They cleaned up after they were done and did one final walk around, and everything works and looks great. Thanks Nugent & Sons, and Mike and Brad, you all now have lifelong customers!!

Ben did a fantastic job replacing our water heater in a very tiny space, removing a wall and utility sink to maneuver the units. He also replaced our main water shutoff valve, and a tub cartridge to stop a drip. Great communication, thoroughly explaining it all from the start and throughout the process, always prompt. We have used Nugent several times over the last few years and have been very happy with their service. I highly recommend them for anyone needing plumbing repairs!

The entire team from salesman to installers were professional, helpful, and responsive. Estimate for new HVAC system was detailed and easy to understand so we knew exactly what were getting. Office staff was incredibly patient and helpful scheduling the survey. The foreman who did the measurements/survey was professional, efficient, and answered all my questions. The 2 technicians who installed the new system were fantastic, kept me updated, fully cleaned up, and provided a thorough overview of the newly installed system.

Needed to replace my moldy fiberglass ducts for the entire house, some in the attic and some in the basement. John Nugent did a fantastic job replacing the old fiberglass with metal as well as replacing all the fiberglass registers. I’m very happy with the new install. Especially the quality of the work. At one point after tearing out the basement ducts, we discovered an improperly installed gas line that broke several codes. I asked John Nugent for an immediate quote to repair it as it needed to be repaired before the new duct work could be installed. I wasn’t happen with the initial solution proposed by the first technician John Nugent sent out, so the next day the plumbing manager personally came out to look at the problem and proposed a fix that was much more in line with what I envisioned. They quickly repaired it and were able to finish the duct work in less than the time quoted. I was very pleased with the quick response, and high quality of work.

Our natural gas furnace is in great shape and good for another season. RL came to my home on a Saturday morning to fix a water heater problem that several other plumbing groups had failed to correct. His knowledge level was evident from the start. He carefully examined the situation, he listened closely to understand what I had been experiencing, he asked all the right questions, he told me exactly what the problem was, he shared what the total cost would be to fix the issue, and he then fixed it perfectly. I was extremely impressed and the pricing was super reasonable. We were THIS close to selecting John Nugent & Sons. Let me start by saying we will absolutely recommend this company to others. We loved their experience in this market, their quick replies, their VERY competitive pricing on Carrier systems, and their overall business systems. However, we ended up having to select a company that could install more promptly than John Nugent & Sons. Our upstairs AC went out, and after getting a BUNCH of quotes, we ended up selecting John Nugent. Because we didnt believe it was even a possibility that the install date would be a full month out, I didnt ask. They had been so quick to get out and quote, I thought their turnaround would be similar. In retrospect, I should have obviously confirmed when we would be on the books. It feels like a fair thing to also say youd expect the company to mention upfront, but its a two-way street. The company was great though... they tried to make it right by offering to install window units, but we were just ready to move forward with a new AC while the summer months were in full swing. The only reason we rated 4 out of 5 was because of their turnaround time on installs. We get it though... being too busy is a good problem for a company to have. Thanks all!

I was given some good tips on maintenance without the pushing of products or additional services which is what many other companies do.Although Nugent is well known in the area I was given their name by an another HVAC company. This was not my first experience with JOHN NUGENT & SONS and it won’t be my last! First time…few years ago…a complete replacement of my HVAC system, so well done! This time I needed a new water heater…and in a smaller condo space it was amazingly impressive to watch a plumber this time…FABIAN…work so adeptly at getting the old unit out and the new 40 gallon(!) one in so expertly and quickly! Also, I was so thankful for the quick service! I knew I needed a new water heater and, based on my experience with Nugent & Sons previously, I called them right away. They were so helpful in looking at the situation the next day and then got the water heater installed the following day! Fabian was extremely helpful and did a beautiful job, again not so easy in a small space! He worked professionally and efficiently!! He left with the old water heater and he left his work space completely cleaned up! Wonderful job a second time with Nugent & Sons!! Our AC (previously installed by Nugent and Sons last summer) stopped working suddenly after a stormy night a few weeks ago. My husband called them around 7am next day and they had a tech out by 8. It turned out to be a big job — the circuit board was fried. The tech was here for 8 hours one day and maybe 4 the next and it required a new part. He was super supportive and tried to get as much covered under warranty as possible. Our AC is back online now and working just fine. Very grateful they were able to help us so quickly. The office staff on the phone are very helpful as well.

We contacted John Nugent & Sons because they won the Loudoun Times Best Of award for their category.We were able to be scheduled for same-day service (repairs to our hot water heater).Larry, the tech, called ahead as expected and was able to resolve our problem (thermocouple failed) in about 1.5 hours. He was very knowledgeable, pleasant, and professional. The bill was fair for the quality and timeliness of the service performed.We will call Nugent & Sons if we need help in the future.

We have a very unusual shower fixture that needed to be repaired. Three previous attempts by other plumbers all failed. John Nugent & Sons sent over their specialist. He arrived on time , assessed the situation and announced he liked a challenge. After three months of trying the plumber from Nugent got the job done and fixed the shower. This was a great experience. Nugent will be my go-to plumber from now on.

Invest & protect your AC/heat pump—ESPECIALLY if you live in a multi unit condo building.

My Rheem HVAC system was installed more than 14 years ago, during the blazing hot summer of 2010, by Nugent & Sons. It was a particularly busy summer for HVAC companies. I waited weeks for Nugent to replace my burned out, 25 year old Carrier system because I knew that the best designed system will not have a long, trouble free operating life if it isnt installed properly. Here we are in the winter of 2024/25 and the system, which has performed flawlessly over the years, finally goes on the blink. Of course I called Nugent and they took care of the problem quickly and professionally. The technician determined that a relay had failed on the systems electronics board. I cant say enough about the professionalism and competence of the technicians at this company. The technician who did the honors on my system was Nick, and he could not have been more of a pleasure to work with. Part of the reason my review is so euphoric is that so many HVAC companies today try to sell you a new system at the first sign of trouble with your existing furnace or A/C unit. That is not the case with Nugent. Their technician explained the nature of the repair and the cost along with the expected lifespan of the system and the cost of replacement so I could make the call. In my case it was a relatively simple decision to go ahead with the repair. When the time comes for a replacement there will be only one company that I consider for the job. I dont know that they are the cheapest, but I do know that Nugent is the best value. I want the job done right with no problems down the road. Fourteen years ago I waited weeks during a brutally hot summer with no A/C and it paid off with a quality installation that has stood the test of time. I cannot recommend this company more highly.

I did not know that John Nugent & Sons has gas plumbers who can repair gas leaks. There was a small leak in the gas line leading to one of my fireplaces, and the John Nugent technician did a fantastic job. He moved an unused refrigerator from a grated crawl space, went into that small space and crawled under the wood floor, and replaced the leaking dante valve. Well you could not tell all the work that was done, it was done so carefully and professionally. The technician thoroughly explained what he was doing and why. So water or gas leak, HVAC issues, I will always reach out to John Nugent.

Our summer a/c check was completed quickly and efficiently. The tech started with the wall mounted control unit, checked the inside unit (noted that the filter was still good and didn’t need changing) and concluded the visit with the outdoor condenser unit. Noting the back of the unit was dirty, he asked for a hose and proceeded to wash/clean the exterior before checking to insure the condenser was working properly. The tech was cordial and professional throughout the visit. A very pleasant checkup experience!

My Gree AC unit was not blowing out enough cold air, and he diagnosed the problem (turned out to be an unusual situation) with persistence and efficiency. It now needs a thorough cleaning, and Ive chosen to have John Nugent & Sons do the work even though their prices are a bit higher than some competitors. They seem to be worth the price!

Had used John Nugent & Sons for a new hot water heater and toilet and was very pleased with their service, so when our air conditioner died at 6 pm on a Friday night with the temperature outside at 95 and inside at 80, I called and placed an emergency service request. Shea called back within an hour and said hed be by that night with no emergency surcharge for the visit. He arrived earlier than his original ETA, diagnosed the issue within minutes, replaced the broken part and had us back up and running in no time. Shea was knowledgeable, polite and efficient. He even noted that while the replacement part would work for a period of time, he would have put in a stronger one if hed had it on the truck so he arranged for the front office to call us the next week to upgrade the part for better longevity and service. I would not hesitate to recommend Nugent for any of their services and appreciate Shea saving our weekend in this record breaking heat.

Our kitchen sink got clogged and Fabian was sent out the same day we called to fix it. He gave us a lot of useful information on our garbage disposal (mainly that at 1/3 horsepower it was too small/underpowered to be used for anything at all) and how to do quarterly/semiannual maintenance on our drains to keep prevent buildup. He also came back to fix a very slow leak that developed under the kitchen sink afterward. It turned out the thread on the P-trap was cracked, and he replaced it with a new one. Were very happy with how quickly we were able to schedule service and how thorough Fabian was in troubleshooting and resolving our issues.

Quick response well within time promised, excellent, knowledgeable, professional and pleasant service, completely fixed the problem, with my furnace.The morning before, my furnace went out. It was 60 degrees in my house. I called another company, who promised me a repairman very quickly. I was told, Hes just finishing up on his current service call and youre next. Im STILL waiting for those guys! We waited all day and froze all night.Called Nugent this moring at 8:30, and was told they would have someone there between 9 and 12:30. At 11:20 Bladimir arrived. I could not ask for a more pleasant, professional young man. A pleasure to ahve him in my house. Spent a long time diagnosing my unusual problem (the chimney flu was compacted full with bird nest materials from roof down to furnace, which caused the system to fail). He not only reset and cleaned the system, diagnosed and fixed the problem, he even cleaned all the mess up after he was done! Agreed in advance to $95 for the service call, and was charged additional 175 for the diagnosis and repair, which I considered a fair price and hell of a good deal! It took him over 2 hours to do the work, and for $270 I got a perfectly operational system and a warm house. He also gave me a full written estimate for 2 items of additional suggested repair - both seemed reasonable and necessary but not immediately urgent, and there was no pressure to do them now.When he left my wife said, Wow. After 25 years of getting bad service and ridiculous prices, weve finally found our HVAC repair guys. Tape his card on the furnace.

A few years ago I switched my HVAC service to John Nugent & Sons. Because I have been pleased with the HVAC service I decided to call them for a plumbing problem in July. The plumber (in this case Zam) was every bit the professional that I have experienced with the John Nugent HVAC specialists. My original plumbing problem was resolved quickly and in talking with Zam I decided to upgrade two of the original equipment toilets in my house to new quiet and efficient water-saving ones for what I consider a fair installation cost. I dont know what else to say except that I will definitely call these people the next time I need a plumber. My experiences with the company have been very positive.

After my AC stopped working, I had another company come out and try to fix this issue. I was told my compressor failed and would need to be replaced ($4800 quote)… I called Nugent and Sons after a friend referred me for a second opinion. Jason came out this morning and asked me to watch him do his work. After a quick check, Jason found that the compressor contactor had failed and simply needed replacement. He was done in less than 30 minutes and he saved me thousands. Jason is a straightforward, honest professional and N&S deserves their great reputation because of technicians like him.

I finally got around to replacing old drippy faucets both on an old sink in the utility roomand outdoors built into a stone wall.The John Nugent & Son tech was sent promptly, quickly determined the most cost effective solutions to both, ordered a faucet to fit the unusual plumbing setup of one and the parts to rebuild the other. He returned within 10 days And completed the work on both in the about an hour. The price of it all was fair and I just wonder why I waited so long to get this done!

Lucas came to my home, accurately assessed my existing HVAC system, and provided a fair initial estimate. He later was able to offer me an even better price that beat the best offers from 4 other top-rated companies competing for this work. The installation team, consisting of Isaac and Jorge, were very professional and personable. I was impressed by their attention to detail. They focused on their work and yet were willing to temporarily stop and answer questions that I had. They started their work on time and completed their work within the timeframe promised. There are many competent HVAC companies out there, but I doubt I could have had a more positive experience at the price point I paid.

The company provided window ac’s to tide us over until the new unit could be installed. Ray did a thorough evaluation of the issues and did a troubleshooting call with Navien support for the tankless hot water heater that was only delivering lukewarm water. I was impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. The root cause was identified, and replacement parts (thankfully under warranty) ordered. I specified this Navien tankless for our new build since I had prior issue-free experience with it in the past.I think Ive found my plumbing company here. Its hard when you move out of a region where you had a 20 year relationship established with your plumber. Nugent & Sons reminds me of my old plumber. Ill be keeping them!

With severe weather on the increase these days, I decided to move forward on a perk I wanted for years, a whole house backup generator. J. Nugent wasn’t the lowest bid for the job, but they were one of the few who actually had generators in stock and could get to the job months before other vendors. Seems everyone wants a generator these days and Generac is behind on producing enough. Local vendors swamped with jobs I find out, did my research.RJ was my salesperson, smart guy, no sales pressure, he was very professional and fairly quick to answer emails. RJ made sure I had the proper gas supply and meter for the job. Job took 6 hours, crew onsite were polite and informative and laughed at my dad jokes. My only complaint was no call or email or text to confirm the big job the day before.So in conclusion John Nugent rocks, like Ted Nugent! (Dad joke). 🎸They will be my primary electrician now. ⚡️

When our furnace quit during the recent heat wave, we reached out to friends for referrals and ended up getting FIVE different estimates for a new furnace and AC system.Nugent’s estimator Carl, was very knowledgeable about the products they use and did a great job explaining our options without up-selling us. The estimate was the second lowest price of the five and included features that we would have paid extra for elsewhere.Nugent & Sons schedules a preinstall appointment before the actual service date. Our preinstall appointment occurred the day after we signed the proposal. Mike showed up on time and was very thorough in his inspection and explanations. One amazing perk: Mike installed 2 window AC units to keep us comfortable until our installation appointment 6 days later for NO EXTRA CHARGE! Why doesn’t EVERY company do this??For the install, the team arrived on-time and were professional, friendly, willing to answer all our questions.There was a major detail of our job that made the install more complicated. We wished to relocate the AC compressor (wiring, lines, etc) to the opposite side of the house to prepare for a future patio renovation. Nugent & Sons treated the move as “no big deal” whereas the other companies would have charged a lot more money for this service.There were a few extra tasks that were completed on-site due to the smaller furnace like extending the gas line, moving drain lines, new J-boxes, etc and all was completed with no complaints and no extra charges.I am an engineer and I do a lot of my own work so I have an eye for detail and have high expectations. The entire crew including Payne, John, and Edwin were FIRST CLASS. Every clamp, every screw, every cut, every fitting, every zip-tie, every pipe. Everything was done correctly the first time and with excellent attention to detail!

5 star experience experience all the way! My window was 12-4, but I got a call at 0930 asking if I was ready, but absolutely no pressure if I wasn’t. I wanted to do some moderate upgrades to my electrical, and as we were looking at the panel, he said “umm hey your sump pump is tripped.”. After quickly diagnosing the issue, he called the office and has a plumber dispatched (who was here in 1 hour). Grant came in and confirmed that we indeed had a goner. He gave me a simple run down on the new ones and got me set up with an upgraded model so that I don’t have to come down for a soggy carpet swim. Grant was professional, let me watch him do the repairs (so I could learn) and he taught me various other plumbing tips along the way. He had a clean and organized work area and was respectful of my home. Very thankful for the service.

JN&S was able to get a technician out the same day. Shea Salloum was punctual, called in advance as promised and was an expert of the highest order.He diagnosed my problem in less than 20 minutes (blown capacitor on outside second unit), confirmed the part was under warranty and had my house cooling in less time than it takes to type this.In addition, Shea went above and beyond - he checked the programming of my thermostat, provided advice on my filters and accurately predicted how long it would take for my 82 degree upstairs to cool (i.e. the first 2-3 hours will have the system working to remove humidity, after that the temperature should plunge pretty quickly to the setting on the thermostate). He was spot on! His confidence, knowledge and professionalism eased my worries and solved my problem efficiently and effectively.Great experience, highly, highly recommended. I had an old cast iron boiler that was the original and very inefficient. I knew it had to go. The house I bought had a new hot water heater but I guess the original owner was too cheap to do it right and get a combo tankless system. Natural gas prices keep going up so I decided to have a combo tankless system put in. John Nuggent and Sons had the best quote by far. 3 of the other quotes I received used the same exact Navien system but were much more expensive. Some say the cheaper the price the less quality of a product. Well not with with these guys. The installer and his crew did an amazing job. The system was very neatly installed and all the components very well organized. I am very pleased with the job they did and I will be using John Nugget for all my future big jobs. Next on my list is a generator.

I have used John Nugent & Sons to maintain my HVAC systems for over 30 years and they are an honest, reliable company. Yesterday, their tech (Jamie) serviced both of my A/Cs in only one hour. This includes diagnosing the problem that was preventing 1 A/C (a heat pump) from working (a faulty wiring connection) and repairing it. Nugent has repaired that heat pump whenever it failed since they installed it 17 years ago. Likewise, Nugent has maintained my main furnace since they installed it 33 years ago!

A/C Tech was advised of my concerns about rising static pressure coming from the fan @ .51% over the years. The Tech checked everything including Freon levels, exchanger temps and flows on both sides, filters, voltages, etc. and couldnt not find an issue. Whats more important he didnt try to upsell me on any new products and advised that my system is doing very well and I should keep up with the maintenance (filters, coil cleaning, etc.). This really put my mind at ease because I really dont know these system statistics down to their level and I really thought my fan was starting to slowly breakdown or at the very least needed the fan blades to be cleaned. The Tech was very patient with me and explained everything I needed to know. He even went over the operation of the Carrier Infinity Controller in that it will warn me if the static pressure is too high because it checks it everyday, automatically, so I dont have to. Also, apparently .51% static pressure is nothing to be concerned about. It was well worth the money to have JN&S come over and just give the system the once over for obvious reasons this summer. Great job JN&S keep up the great work!

Both of our HVAC condensing units quit working at the peak of a heat wave. We called early in the morning and a service tech called 30 minutes ahead of arrival so we could meet him. He quickly identified two capacitors that had failed and replaced them to restore our HVAC service late that afternoon. Fans immediately started working in both units. We monitored the temperatures overnight and the heat pump unit failed to cool. The tech returned the next day and did further testing and found the refrigerant was low. Adding more refrigerant solved the additional problem and the house air conditioning is now working. Job well done.

Meant to write this a week ago! Stay with me long story. Two years ago, Christmas Eve, brutal cold, we were out of town, and returned home to find a frozen pipe which burst in our garage. At 8 pm, a Nugent plumber named Fabian came out and fixed it. Unbelievable! Fast forward to a few weeks ago, we were out of town, and a pipe began leaking in our basement on a Saturday. I texted Fabian and called the emergency line at Nugent at same time. 10 minutes later, Fabian called ON HIS VACATION DAY and told us it was his vacation day, but to call the emergency line and Brad would help us. Since I had, I waited no more than 10 minutes and Brad called, and indicated that he could get a fellow named Zam to the house within an hour or so. Zam shows up, our son greets, and Zam fixes and departs within 45 minutes.John Nugent and Sons in my experiences is awesome! I would highly recommend.

This incident further reinforced why we continue to use Nugent for work both normal and emergency.

We had a Nugent tech do HVAC annual maintenance, and he suggested an air scrubber. After service, the furnace started making a noise. Nugent sent the tech back out. He fixed the noise, and I mentioned that my spouse didnt like the smell of ozone from the scrubber, he replaced it with one that doesnt use ozone. Nugent may cost more than others, but they are worth it. They make sure the customer is happy.Also, a Nugent electrician came to install just a ceiling fan support, and he ended up installing the entire ceiling fan and said the support was already there, just not fully installed. Awesome, thorough service.

This is the most professional company I have had the pleasure of calling. I had an electrical issue and had been run around with various estimates with varying diagnoses of the issue.
