I couldn’t recommend the team at Modern Electrical enough. Matt was great with communicating throughout the process and provided a quick estimate on the services. I needed a 14-50 outlet installed in my garage to charge an EV, the Techs Craig and Dustin showed up exactly when scheduled. They walked me through the process of the work and were finished before i knew it. Great team, i am very pleased and will definitely be using them for any future electrical work.

Tremendous service that is sadly missing in our world. I call Matt to schedule a fan installation on Friday at 1:57 p.m. Matt returns my call 24 minutes later sets my appointment for upcoming Monday at 8 a.m. Follows back up with a text message on Sunday as a reminder. Two technicians were ringing my doorbell at exactly 8 a.m. and we’re back out the door 25 minutes later with the fan perfectly installed. I am totally WOWED!!! Thank you Matt and Modern Electrical.

My 3rd Post! Matt continues to amaze me! We are leaving town this weekend. My Generac Generator went offline on the Holiday weekend. I called Matt Tuesday, although he was booked solid for over a week he worked me in on Wednesday.Generator is back online . I cannot say enough about the Excellent Customer Care and Expertise from Modern Electrical. Very difficult to find this level of service these days!My 2nd Review Posting. The severe storm on Wednesday resulted in power loss. First time my Generac 18Kw Generator kicked in flawlessly and power my home until power was restored. A testament to the quality install by Matt and his Modern Electric Team. Professional and high Quality work throughout. In fact, the final inspection by Hanover County Inspections Inspector commented it was one of the best Generator installs he had seen in some time.You cant go wrong with Modern Electric!Modern Electrical.. What can I say? Thee best Contractor, Customer Focus, and Quality work that I have had in MANY years!! Thats saying something in these days with Pandemic issues and labor shortages. Matt delivered exactly as his quote indicated. He installed a Generac Whole House Generator. I was amazed at how he coordinated the Natural Gas supply install with Absolute PlumbingAnother quality contractor, the 3 required inspection required by County. All like clock work. Matt and his team at Modern Electrical were so great to work with! As a first-time homeowner, it can be nerve racking, choosing and trusting a company to do work in your home when you don’t know anything about electrical work. I chose Modern based on positive reviews on several websites; Matt came by very quickly after I called to give an estimate. The cost was significantly lower than the one I received from a big name company and I didn’t feel like he was trying to sell me more than I actually needed. He even checked inspection regulations for my county to see if we could eliminate an expense due to the grandfather policy. Then we were scheduled fairly quickly after and our electrical panel was replaced within a four hour window. Inspection passed and I look forward to using his services and expertise again!

Mike was very reasonable and forthcoming about the issues with our home. There were no hidden fees or price gouging here. He explained all the electrical issues to me and prioritized what needed to be done, what could wait, and the options. The price was just right and when he left, the area was so clean that you wouldn’t know he had been working in the space. It’s hard to find good tradespeople these days: Modern Electrical is a keeper.

I would definitely recommend Modern Electrical. Matt was responsive, professional, on time and efficient. He installed cameras, light fixtures and smoke detectors at my house. He also changed light bulbs in a chandelier that I couldnt reach. He consulted with me to make sure that I purchased all the right equipment and took care of everything quickly while he was here. Matt was very professional and right on time, for both jobs he did for us, moving some light switches and installing new LED disc lights in the ceiling. He was very clean with his work. His prices were about 1/3 of quotes we received from other electricians so it doesnt get much better than that. I will also be giving him a call back when we are ready to get another couple of lights installed. I am very happy that I found him and would highly recommend him to anyone I know.

We have been dealing with Matt since July of 2016. He installed our stand-by generator and has been servicing it each year since then. My husband and I are retired and weve both had questions we wanted to ask Matt about the generator. When we call him, he patiently answers our questions and tells us hes always a phone call away if we need him. I have asked him to install a new outlet in our hallway. Its wonderful to have someone dependable to call on when you need them. Hes friendly, has reasonable pricing and is always on time! You cant go wrong with Modern Electrical.

Matt had a positive and practical vision of basic improvements we could make in just a few areas. The results were amazing with new recessed lighting, under-cabinet lights, and a new chandelier fixture over the island! In less than a day, we saw major improvements that brought us more into the 21st century. The team was punctual, professional, and even cleaned up the entire area. Great experience from beginning to end. While nearly every other company told me it would/could be weeks before they could even come out to give a proper estimate, Matt made the time to do it right away, listened to my concerns and answered every question. Quoted a price that was fair and more competitive than any other company had vaguely offered. Scheduling the appointment was easy and I really liked the ongoing communication with changes or updates to my appointment time. Marcus & Joel the technicians were awesome! On time, Knowledgeable, efficient and super respectful of our property (literally no sign their were even here other than the completed work) . Their work was excellent and they walked us through everything at the end to make sure it was up to our standards. Will 100% use again and already referred to others. I have already scheduled additional work to be completed in a few weeks with them.

Matt was very easy to work with and quick to respond back on a quote for a ceiling fan prewire as he got back to me the same day I reached out to him. He gave me a reasonable quote for the work and was done in less than 2 hours. Other companies had quoted me twice or three times as much and told me that my ceiling fan prewire in my condo would be a mess as they would have to make multiple holes in the drywall and would take all day. Matt made 3 cuts in the ceiling and screwed the drywall back in place after the wiring was complete. I was very impressed and will be using Matt and his company in the near future for my electrical work.

Matt was awesome. We called him as a 2nd opinion after being told by a large electrical company (that only sends out technicians) that we needed to replace both panels for a price of 6500$. They said it might only be main breaker but part was no longer made so would have to replace it all. Matt is a master electrician, came and evaluated, said we only needed to replace the main breaker on 1 panel! 575$. He said it was harder to find but he had one at his shop. The 2nd panel problem was so minor it did not need addressed yet. Huge difference! And he had us up and running in no time! He is now on our speed dial 😊 Highly recommend Matt!

I contacted Matt Horrell, owner of Modern Electrical after moving into an older home that needed a variety of electrical upgrades and repairs. I found the company on the Nextdoor.com website under electrician recommendations. Matt provided a very competitive estimate and a quick timeline for service. He confirmed the service date / time and the technician’s names the evening prior to their arrival. I was pleased with their professionalism and work ethic. They installed ceiling fans in rooms with no electrical boxes, installed a wall outlet for a tv while moving the cords into the walls, replaced breakers in the electrical panel box, and installed a guide wire for the natural gas meter. I have asked them to return to replace exterior lights and install a new dining room chandelier.Professional service, great communication, competitive pricing…I highly recommend Modern Electrical.

I spent a lot of money putting in a replacement Steam Generator. Unfortunately, the replacement was 6 KW and replaced a 5KW unit. The problem is the fuses would burn out. Well good thing I checked with Matt and the manufacturer. A 6kw system is 40 amp and requires 8-gauge wire. I was running 30 AMP fuse and circuit breakers with just 10-gauge wire. This was a fire waiting to happen. Matt sent his crew over and the worked fast and efficient. They cleaned up after themselves and all I have left to do is some mud and tape where they had to cut open the sheet rock to run the new 8-gauge wire. I am so glad to have an Electrical Contractor who is available, efficient, reasonable cost and hires excellent work people! I have an Electrician for life!

The technicians (Marcus and Joel) arrived on time, finished ahead of schedule, left our drywall intact, and cleaned up the dust. Every fixture was installed with millimeter precision. I highly recommend Modern Electrical for many reasons; but, especially for a problem I have had that no other Electrician could repair. Matt Horrell, Owner, came to repair an outlet and found the problem. While at my home, I shared since moving here almost 20 years ago, I have never been able to use a different outlet to plug in any of my kitchen devices. Many Electricians have tried but all failed until Matt arrived on Friday.He fixed my original request and then proceeded to track down why I dont have any power to that receptacle.Long story short, within 30 min. he found the problem in my crawlspace, reconnected the wires he had traced from the source; and for the first time ever, I plugged in an appliance and it works. I doubt, even the first owner never had power due to the problem. Yes, I let out a scream of joy and Matt will always be the only Electrician I will ever call in the future. Modern Electrical is the best!!! Thanks, Matt.

Modern Electrical installed a new TV over my fireplace. They needed to reroute the wires in the attic to the chase, and install a TV mount. They connected the TV to the wi- fi and got us going. Matt did a wonderful job with some electrical work at our house. It all started with his prompt reply to our inquiry and thorough estimate of the work that needed to be completed. He was very clear on the work that would be performed and was reasonably priced. He installed six new recessed lights for us and four new outlets on the exterior of the house. I couldn’t be happier with the work he performed and will be utilizing him in the future for any additional electrical needs!

I reached out to Modern Electric after researching online reviews for my area. Not only was I contacted quickly to ask my needs, the communication kept coming. I was called to discuss my needs and given an “estimate” over the phone and had an appt scheduled. I was contacted the day before my appt confirming their arrival and given the names of the techs coming. They arrived on time and were very efficient, knowledgeable, and just overall a good experience. I would highly recommend Modern Electric and will be using them again myself.

We were super stressed about removing a very old custom stove and all the junk it left behind, Matt was able to stop by on a moments notice and save the day by updating the plug and removing the old fans in the floor. He also took the time to help my husband fit and place the stove correctly and make sure everything functioned before leaving!

He came in and quickly assessed the situation, determined that an old outlet I had set up several years ago had malfunctioned and undermined those in line with it. He fixed the issue and we are up and running. Critical work with the holiday coming. He was quick, polite and I was impressed with how he was able to logically think through the problem to develop a solution for our problem. Thanks Matt!
