We had repairs made and our house painted. The folks from Jacob’s Ladder were great to work with. They gave us a detailed estimate, which wasn’t the lowest one we received, but it was complete (We felt the other estimates left a number of things a bit up in the air).The carpenter and painters showed up as agreed, arrived on time every morning, asked for clarification on exactly how we wanted things to look. Upon finishing, we did an inspection and noted only one thing. We asked them to fix it and they did immediately. Then the next day, the person who had done the estimate came out to do a final check.We wouldn’t hesitate to use Jacob’s Ladder again, and will recommend them to anyone we know who needs additions, repairs, roof, paining, etc.

We had our house siding repaired & entire house painted by Jacob’s Ladder along with our deck repaired & refinished, and we were very happy with all of the work. Every aspect of this project was done with professionalism and skill- from the estimate process to the actual work and follow- up. We really appreciated that they inspected their own work at the end of the project and followed up with the small corrections to have a “perfect” outcome. It’s never easy doing big house projects, but Jacob’s Ladder made it enjoyable!

Terrific experience from start to finish. Emailed Jacobs Ladder and received a response in no time at all. I believe Justin (our Project Manager) came over within a day or two and spent at least an hour and a half with us showing us samples of siding/windows. Communication with Justin continued to be excellent throughout the process. Everything was very clear and spelled out in the contract. We had all our windows, shutters, siding, trim, two doors, storm door and gutters/gutter guards replaced.I cant say enough about the crew of 4 guys that arrived every day at 8:00. They were up on ladders and working by 8:15. Other than their lunch break they worked until at least 7:00. They left everything cleaned up before they left each day. I think what really stood out their attention to detail in everything they did. Very happy with the results!

First off, Justin at Jacobs Ladder was amazing to work with. I am, by no means, an easy person to work with. I ask lots of questions and feel that I tend to get a little overly involved... but Justin never got flustered nor did his crew while they were here replacing both the siding and the windows. From the time the dumpster arrived till it was taken away, every person affiliated with JL was polite, professional, thorough and above all, made me feel like I had made the best decision in going with them! Will definitely be using them to replace my roof in a few years.

I have had a great experience working with Jacobs Ladder. I had them rebuild the whole exterior framing of my bay windows as well as fix a few other rotten pieces of wood around the exterior of my home. From the beginning, Reagan was very responsive, knowledgeable, patient with all of my questions and offered creative solutions. Ultimately I chose to use this company because of all of the above and also not having to schedule several months out. I felt very comfortable checking in throughout the process and was very happy with the work that was done. This is an excellent company to work with. We have used the painters twice over the years to paint the exterior of our house and had a patio door installed. We hired Jacob’s Ladder to fix damage to the corner of our house after a crazy woodpecker went wild. They were able to provide a quote quickly with pictures we sent. Then they had someone at the house the next day to fix the issue. They were quick , considerate, and very professional. The work looks great and we are very satisfied with the outcome. It’s never fun having issues with your house but Jacob’s Ladder made the repair process easy. In addition, the person who fixed the the woodpecker damage went above and beyond as he went scrounging through old paint cans in our garage so he could match the siding paint where he had been doing work. I made a good decision when I chose Jacobs Ladder for needed exterior work. As a result Id recommend that you give Jacobs Ladder a fair shot at your job by having them give you an estimate. No one was in the office when I phoned. But I left a detailed message about the work required. I heard back within a day that their crews could handle the work needed and particularly deck repairs which was a major concern to me. I was not looking for a gimmicky discount. Just a straight forward estimate of materials and labor. A visit from the project manager quickly followed, and the turnaround time on the estimate was a matter of days, Work began within two weeks and was completed in a timely manner. A matter of 4 working days for what I needed. I got to meet and observe three crews over the course of the job. They were efficient but never cut corners. I liked that the crews had a longevity with Jacobs Ladder, one over 13 years. The crews worked autonomously, but Jacobs Ladder was very hands-on in managing the project. The project manager remained very assessible to me.

We went with Jacobs Ladder to replace our old Masonite siding with vinyl siding. This included wrapping our windows in aluminum trim foil, replacing our soffits, as well as installing new shutters. From the estimation process through installation to the final touches, our project manager was extremely responsive.The project started as forecasted (something that seems to be a rare occurrence with contractors these days), and the crew worked very quickly while doing a quality job. There were a few minor mishaps during the project (broken fixtures and hose bib knob from debris removal), but our project manager was on it immediately and they were addressed the next day. The crew did a nice job cleaning up at the end of every day so we were still able to enjoy our outdoor space during the downtime. Our project manager and the field manager were on site regularly to check on the progress of the work, make sure we were satisfied, and could address any questions or concerns we may have. At the end of the project, they ensured any last minute touches and fixes were addressed with the same care and quality from the beginning.Jacobs Ladder struck an excellent balance of quality work, customer service and price. Id definitely recommend them for any siding or exterior work.

Worked with Justin to spec out the work with a product that the bees wouldnt eat. The team that came to do the work was great. My Project Manager, Josh, was very responsive and took extra measures to accommodate my schedule to get work done before I was expecting family from out of town. Johnnie, my Field Supervisor, was on top of things during the entire job. I really appreciated his attitude that it was like he was working on his own home and wanted it done right. And it was. Justin was my first point of contact. He came out and gave us the information we needed and answered our questions to make a decision. Once we decided, Justin came back promptly to measure. We ordered in July and the windows were ready in September. In the meantime Justin was available to answer any questions we had usually within minutes of emailing. When the gentlemen came to do the job, they were on time, friendly and did a professional install. They were able to finish the job in one day and cleaned up the mess and the old windows. I used them on a reference from family who has worked with them on several occasions and used different services. They were highly recommended and they far exceeded the recommendation. We had a couple of kids rooms painted. It was a very smooth process from the time we requested a quote to the time the job was finished. They showed up on time and completed the work in a timely manner. We had one issue due to the previous painters painting over the baseboard trim in one of the rooms. Jacobs Ladder came back the very same day with white trim paint and cleaned it up for us even though that was part of the original scope of work. Very good work, reasonably priced!

In October of 2019, Jacobs Ladder removed our Masonite siding & installed vinyl siding. Their work was nothing less than impeccable. Any questions where answered & supervisors kept us informed of all details. Clean up after the job was superbly done as well. 6 months after completing the job, a small piece of trim blew off the house. Within 24 hours, Jacobs Ladder had the trim piece replaced, no questions asked. Not often you find this quality of workmanship & customer service.

I recently used Jacobs Ladder for a new roof on my home and they did excellent work. When I called to schedule an estimate, Justin was responsive and immediately available. Other places I called to get estimates couldnt come out for weeks or were not responsive to my inquiries. When Justin came out to do the estimate he did a great job explaining the options, the materials they use, and what would be done. After deciding to go with Jacobs Ladder we had to make a choice as to what color shingles to get. Justin had mentioned the small pictures were not great at showing what the colors look like on an actual roof, and so he told us where we could see actual roofs with the color shingles we were interested in. This was great because the color definitely looks different when youre looking at a whole roof covered in the stuff. Once we chose a color and I contacted Justin, it took less than a week to order the materials and schedule time. They were able to replace the roof in about a day and it looks great!

I had a leak in my crawl space that was coming from the connection part of the deck. Reagon and his crew gave a great diagnosis of the problem and gave multiple solutions for the fix. They never pressured me and gave me there honest opinion which I greatly appreciated. Happy with the work and would use them again for future projects. The only negative I would say would be that no one came to check for a final inspection. Besides that they were great.

Five stars for the install team; two for the project manager. The team sent to our house to replace part of our siding did an outstanding job! The foreman told us his goal was to make us happy with the job and they certainly did that. They consulted with us all along the way as they encountered decisions that needed to be made. The quality of the install was excellent and they went above and beyond by noticing and then reattaching (at no additional cost) a couple of boards that had come loose from an earlier install by another contractor.The project manager, however, was another story. He was pretty much unresponsive once we paid the deposit for the project. We were told what day the team would come, but not what time to expect them. When we emailed to ask the time, there was no answer. When the job was completed. We emailed to let the project manager know it was done, tell him how pleased we were with the result, and ask about how to make payment of our balance. There was no response for several days, and when it came it was from the office staff, not the project manager. Overall poor communication from the project manager is the only reason this review didnt get 5 stars. Samuel and his team definitely rate 5 stars for their excellent work and responsiveness!

Jacobs Ladder has finished my complete exterior renovation! I cant express how great of a job they did. I researched for the best exterior renovation companies in Richmond. Jacobs Ladder had incredible reviews. Their rep Josh came by in explained everything he would do in detail to give me the best results. His quote seemed very reasonable, but I called in AAPCO in Richmond for a second quote. To my surprise APPCO was way out of the park by nearly 10k. I quickly accepted Jacobs ladders quote. Im thinking they made a mistake in pricing. Because of their popularity I had to wait nearly three months for them to start to work. With my six years of construction experience while in college I knew what was good work versus bad work. When they started the work they determined that my house was wrapped in a material called denny board. Unfortunately they had to re-sheath the entire house. I was again shocked how low the additional price was considering how much extra work had to go into making sure that my house was sealed correctly. I cant say enough good things about the lead Carpenter Frankie. I could tell by talking to him that he was more than capable. Like any job there were a few hiccups, but we got through them successfully. I highly recommend adding Jacobs Ladder to your list of companies to quote your job.

We first started working together about 3 years when we purchased our first home that desperately needed some updates. We had a firm budget to work within and Seth was able to get everything we needed done and UNDER budget. Jacobs Ladder completely remodeled our kitchen to perfection. They also built us a privacy fence, repaired a sag in the floor and updated our HVAC. His guys were on time and very professional. Seth was easy to talk to and a huge help in brainstorming ideas. Jabob’s ladder is exactly what you wish a contract provider to be. Throughout our experience the JL team kept us up to date on what to expect, responded promptly to any questions, listened to our input, and showed that quality of work was the priority. I saw them redo sections that were less than perfect. They showed up in the heavy rain within an hour when I called to express a concern. The JL team consistently took the extra step to make sure work product was excellent. Great crew on site, great team leaders (thank you Shorty and Olger!) and great coordination and responsiveness from the “main office” (thank you Justin!). Oh and the house looks just fantastic. Maintenance free siding and all the trimmings. Could not be happier. Exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!

The scope of our project was massive -- all but 2 rooms in a five bedroom house -- so JLs crews of 2 - 6 people completed in 9 days what would have taken me weeks, if not months, to complete myself. Very pleased that all the crews were kind, professional, hardworking, and non-smokers -- huge in my book! Additionally, not a single one seemed to have come directly from prison! Also huge in my book. What lacked was attention to final details: excess paint left behind on light fixtures, door knobs, wall mirrors; nail pops left behind; larger patch areas left very rough looking. Bottom line: I would definitely hire JL again and highly recommend them for painting, BUT I would be a vocal nuisance to be sure all final details were attended.
