    I have had only excellent experiences with Boyland Electric and the Generac generator they installed about 10 ten years ago. The technicians are professional, thorough and personable. The service contract is fair and reassuring. And perhaps most important to me, a real human being, attentive and helpful, answers the telephone or responds to emails on the spot. No robots here. :)

    In 2021 we had Boyland Electric install a Natural Gas Generac Generator. We have continued to use their maintenance plan ever since. In the Spring and the Fall the, Boyland technicians perform routine maintenance and keep our generator running. It just works and we do not have to worry about it.

    I am so pleased with the exceptional service we received from Boyland Electric Inc when we had an issue with our Generac generator. The red light was on so I called Canter Systems, the company that installed and has been doing the maintenance on it. After many phone calls to them over a three week period and no response on when they would be out, I knew I needed to find another company. I called Boyland, and they were very helpful and were able to come out the following day. David the technician was very thorough and fixed the problem and made sure everything was in tip top shape. I will now be giving my business to Boyland Electric Inc! Thank you for the great service.

    Cant say enough about the Boyland Electric Team. Everything was great. I had a generator installed at my place in northern VA due to constant outages over the summer. Scheduling and installation went smoothly without any issues. Highly recommend going with them if you are looking for a generator in the DMV area.

    Service was excellent! We lost power, and our backup generator was not functioning - I called, and was helpfully directed through a troubleshooting process, after which we determined that a technician was required.     We have been using Boyland for a couple years for our Generac. The previous servicers (different company) didnt do well and werent electricians. The previous homeowner had been using them. There service isnt really scheduled like any other company weve used, but they come by twice a year to tune up, do whatever needs doing. We also had them add a whole house surge protector. Office staff is professional and works with you and whatever you need. The only note is that they dont always respond right away by phone, but weve found that email works well.

Their expertise was impressive. Since then they have provided excellent annual maintenance.I also note that they did an amazing job installing my ChargePoint EV Charger and feeding a 240V circuit into my kitchen for a new convextion oven.

    Interactions with the office is most pleasant. Every time I called my case (generator maintenance) was easily recognized and information given promptly. Main problem is that we, so far, only need biannual maintenance which has been later than promised, so much so, that I had to call to be sure we were still on their schedule.

    January 2025, Rembrandt Assisted Living in Falls Church will celebrate its 3rd anniversary. This means that we have had a contract with Boyland Electric for 3 years since they installed our Generac Generator. Service, twice a year, has been done timely and efficient. The office staff is always professional and helpful.Our Generator gets frequent use since there are quite often short power interruptions. The Generator has done its job perfectly so far. Whats not to like!

The maintenance visits are managed by the company and dont cause any interference or inconvenience to our busy schedules. The techs visit twice each year and service the Generac (we call it Genie)

    Another 5-Star Review! These guys were great to work with to get a Kohler backup generator installed at our house. They spent time listening to us and explaining various options when establishing our specific backup needs. And then the actual installation was very professional -- you could tell these guys have done a lot of installations and really new their stuff. Im not certain they are the least expensive shop in town, although their prices seemed very reasonable. But I doubt you could find a more professional and competent group anywhere!

    Boyland Electric installed our Generac whole house generator in 2021. They coordinated the installation with the county inspectors and BGE. The process was easy. Our generator automatically turns on every time we lose power. A few months ago we lost power for 2 days. We were so happy we had the generator. We have a well and septic system and with the whole house generator we have water, refrigeration, sump pumps, internet and TV as if there hadnt been a storm.

    I recently bought a house that has a Generac generator and there was a Boyland Electric sticker on the generator so I gave them a call to do a service and to figure out why the generator was shut down. It turned out that my contractor had not reset the generator after he turned off the propane to the house because of a leak. When the generator tried to do its weekly 10 minute run, there was no propane so it turned itself off. David, the Boyland Electric service technician, thoroughly explained how the generator worked, what the various switches did, how to measure the voltage output, and what was covered in a maintenance contract. He even cleaned the entire outside and inside of the generator. I was so impressed by his friendliness, willingness to answer my questions, and professionalism that I signed a service contract on the spot. I just wish the previous owners had a service contract rather than calling for service only when needed. The generator would be in even better shape if they had.

    This company installed our generac a couple of years ago. excellent service. I thought they would have to rip up our driveway to install the generator (farther away from the house). They had this underground missle thing which left no damage to the property. We had a great experience from the beginning to the end of the installation and we are now going to use them for maintaince service. I recommended them to a few neighbors as well.     Ever since we purchased our Guardian Series 20KW Generator in 2012, we have had it serviced by Boyland Electric. They have done a great job in making sure that it says in good working order. Their service team is very professional and after each of the two annual maintenances, they explain in detail if they have found an issue. Having a generator gives us a sense of electrical security, and Boyland makes sure it is working fine. If I have any questions, they respond immediately.

    David did very well, and found out the reason that the Generac was not self-testing, since its battery was flat. He ran the Generac for a while to clear the smokey residue from the spark plug and said he would re-check it later, but it seems that the house is now protected in the high winds that might drop branches and sever the power lines

    The line-item detail in the proposal to install our Kohler generator knocked me out--I dont think weve ever seen one with that much information. Its a sign of real professionalism.The installation went smoothly. The crew decided to route the gas, power, and control lines along a different path than in the original plan. To avoid having three thick tubes running across our garage ceiling, they ran them them up the garage walls into the space above the ceiling and then back down and out of the house. Its much neater, and we appreciate their creative and thoughtful approach.Because of new WSSC requirements for protecting the gas pipe, final approval took a few days longer than anticipated, but that wasnt Boylands fault, and we now have an operational generator.Katy in the office and every member of the crew--Travis, John, and the rest--have been a pleasure to work with. We will continue the relationship by having Boyland do the regular maintenance.[ADDED JAN. 13, 2021]We have now had regular maintenance from Boyland for our Kohler generator since it was installed, and intend to continue. Boyland has given us good service since first coming out to discuss the project and we see no reason to change. The generator has been called upon a couple of times during power outages, once for several hours, and has performed just as we hoped and expected it would.[ADDED DEC. 21, 2021]Boyland has continued to provide good maintenance service for us and we will continue with the current service arrangement of twice-yearly visits. Its not cheap, but a generator is all about insurance, and regular maintenance is insurance for the insurance.     Boyland Electric installed a Generac 22KW generator for us in August 2018 with a Nexus Smart Transfer switch and various controls to help manage our whole house load. We couldn’t be happier.     We noticed that our wholehouse backup generator wasnt working when we had a power outage last fall. I called a company that claimed it specialized in generator repairs. The techs came (and came) and tried piece by piece to find why the generator had quit working. The first tech claimed it was the MAC pickup sensor and exchanged the part. That did not fix the problem. 3 months in, and they were still troubleshooting, did not communicate with me what they were doing, stating they either didnt have the parts, couldnt find the issue, assumed it was the harness, the solenoid, the starter, the battery, the controller, etc. etc. etc. In the end, I told them not to return since they couldnt get the job done.So I called one very prominent electrical (and plumbing) company here in our area who claimed the generator was dead, had been hit by lightening, and that they see this all the time. They would replace the whole unit for $40k. (They were the ones to install the unit back in 2011, too.) The tech did not even attempt to take a closer look and relied on what I had told him about the first company that had tried to figure out the problem.My husband did not believe the generator needed to be replaced, so I researched further and found Boyland Electric through NextDoor. Within less then 2 hours, their tech, David, figured out that the first tech, who installed the MAC pickup sensor, had installed it improperly causing it to be unable to transmit a signal to the controller (or something like that). Either way, he got the generator humming again. It is obvious that Boyland Electric employs top-notch technicians like David, who know what they are doing. I absolutely recommend this company for anything generator related. They are honest, efficient, and as a result very reasonable in pricing. Top notch company. Ten stars! Thank you Boyland Electric!!

    With recent short duration electrical outages over the past two weeks, we noted the generator did not come on, and that the generator did not do its test run on 30 Jul 2023. I called Boyland this morning (31 July 2023) to report the difficulties and request a service check. Boyland sent Collin within an hour of my speaking with them and he quickly diagnosed a deficient battery. With subsequent testing, he noted the control board to also be faulty. He replaced the battery and control board, and quickly reprogrammed the control board to reflect current time, date, and scheduled test runs and maintenance. Very rapid response and Collin willing to explain the necessary corrections. Fortunately, the faulty control board will be covered by our 10-year warranty. Outstanding service!

    I contacted Boyland because we were having problems with our older Kohler generator that our former contractor was unable to repair. The former would make repairs, charge us for the repairs and the problem would reappear. Half of the time the unit wasnt working, and the contractor would try to walk me through repairs over the phone. It was difficult to get a call back or make an appointment. The office staff was extremely rude (at the former company). Boyland was very responsive, the office staff is friendly and accommodating, and they sent their Kohler specialist out to assess the problem right away. The field personnel are very knowledgeable and professional. It was a complicated issue, but they got it resolved and we didnt have to spend the money to replace the unit.     Amazing experience in acquiring a Generac whole home generator. From the outset, Doug was right on time to provide the estimate. They sent a proposal and I had it checked by a master electrician friend. He said price was very good so we sent deposit and got started. Everything was total turnkey.     Boyland is exemplary for professionalism, speed and workmanship. All ran like clock work:1. Doug reviewed our system and needs and recommended a gas-supplied generator solution and provided a contract offer that was in line with other providers.2. The Boyland office manager fielded additional questions, ensured prompt permitting and work scheduling and maintained a good flow of communication during and post installation.3. Once we gave the go ahead, the installation was scheduled within a matter of days.4. The crew installed the generator in two days, efficiently dividing work between preparing the ground (including moving an existing bush), building a proper foundation (much better than I’ve seen in other projects) and handling the connection work (both inside the house and outside).Boyland is not cheap, but certainly very reliable and worth it! The crew captain even returned after installation to check on a tripped switch and helped us understand the working (and sounds) of the load shedding switch.Overall it was a very positive experience! We recommend Boyland highly.

    Boyland Electric installed a 20KW Kohler generator for me in 2016. Boylands cost estimate was the lowest of three. The installation was very professional and completed as promised. I have since been using Boyland for yearly maintenance and have been very satisfied with their service. I had one minor problem with the generator which Boylands technician quickly fixed under warranty.I have a maintenance agreement with Boyland Electric that provides regular maintenance. I interact with Boylands technicians when they provide regular service and have been impressed with their depth of knowledge and the thoroughness of their work. I recently had a minor problem with a rough engine idle that was due to the computer control of the engine. Boylands technician came within hours, immediately diagnosed the issue and and fixed it. He gave me his business card with his cell phone number and told me if the problem arose again to call him directly. I could not be more pleased with Boylands service.I have continued to use Boyland to service my Kohler generator that was installed in 2016 under Boylands service contract. Since installation, there have only been a couple of minor issues with the generator such as replacing the battery used to start the generator. Other service visits have been for routine maintenance.     Generally I dont post reviews on Google. However, I hope it will help someone make up their mind when looking for reliable electric company.This review is long, long overdue. When I needed to purchase a generator, I reached out to Boyland Electric and found their estimate to be the best one. From the start of the process to the end, I had no trouble. Everyone from the front office staff, to the installers, and the technicians who come out for maintenance, is (and always has been) friendly, professional, and thorough. Ive expressed concerns and had them reassuringly addressed and even shared laughs with them. At one point I drove out to the office to return paperwork and had a chance to meet the office staff in person. They were just as wonderful (as expected) in person even though I had shown up unannounced with no appointment. When the installers came, they were respectful of my home and my neighbors (despite Ellie, my neighbors dog who kept barking and threatening to jump the fence). The install went smoothly and they did an amazing job cleaning up after themselves. Naturally I decided to have them provide the maintenance for my generator and they do so at a fair price (I checked around). Last year due to a scheduling conflict (of my own making), they had to make several attempts to come out and complete the inspection and they were very nice and patient about the confusion I had caused. Ive had no issues with my generator what so ever and I will be reaching out to them again for some electrical work in the near future. I only wish that I could use them for everything else that needs repair around my home.

    Boyland installed our Generac generator in July 2019. We were in a bit of a rush to get it done since we were about to leave on an extended overseas trip. Boyland rearranged their work schedule and finished the installation a couple of days before we left. The team did a first-rate job. The work was carefully managed and coordinated with the County, and done right. The crew even helped a neighbor who had some issues about work that had been done at his home. Since installation, weve only had one short outage, but the system performed exactly as designed. And every week, the generator runs a self-test, and that assures me that all is well. So...in sum, Boyland did a super job, and we are very happy campers.

    Generator stopped providing power to home after lightning struck nearby tree. Technician arrived on time and quickly diagnosed problem. He had the required replacement part on his truck and quickly replaced it. He also did a thorough check of the unit and system to rule out any additional problems. Final check was completed to simulate outage and confirmed generator kicked on appropriately and provided power to house as expected.

    Although my appointment was scheduled for first thing in the morning, the technician didnt come until 11:45am. The technician did call at 7:00am to tell me he would be late (by 9:30 or 10), but called again at 11:15 to let me know he was a half hour away. The calls helped, but I still blew the entire morning waiting for him to show up. Very frustrating. Other than the delay issue, the service seemed fine and complete. Well see if my generator works when I need it.

    I have used Boyland Electric for my Generac generator maintenance since 2005. They are extremely friendly, courteous and knowledgeable on the job. They also have kept costs down over the years, with the yearly fee only increasing slightly over that time. Also, their costs are low when repairs are needed. The battery in my generator went bad last year and Boyland replaced it for $115, which is very fair and only a couple of bucks more than if I had done it myself.     Boyland has made my life so much easier. Several years ago I had an issue with my Generac generator not working when there was a power outage. I called them and they worked me in that day. I then began a service contract with them and it has been seamless. Their men arrive and do the required service.     Awesome, great service, signed up for their service after seeing their ad in a mailer, as our previous company was 3 hours away and charged us a ton to come do maintenance work.The Boyland tech was great I was home when he came to do the first service and as soon as he arrived and fired it up the tech said this does not sound right then immediately found that the original installer had installed a wrong part (wrong type of fuel intake), and installed the right part no additional charge! Both the original installation company and the previous service company missed that! My generator runs great now, thanks!.

    I really thought the 5 star overall review of this company had to be “fake news” since I have never seen a generator or electric company who id give even 3 stars to but after dealing with Boyland a few times from their pleasant and responsive receptionists to their knowledgeable electricians I have to say I give these guys 5 stars. Very impressed.I had another company “with great reviews” install my generator and they messed it up so bad that it destroyed so many electrical appliances in our house. I hired yet another company “with great reviews” and paid an arm and a leg to fix the issue and update our electrical panel. They fixed the issue but messed up the panel. So I was very weary of another company with great reviews but trust me these guys are the real deal. Justin is good. I like him a lot. Travis is brilliant. Their receptionists are amazing. A+!

    Purchased a home that had a Generac generator. First time Ive had a home with a generator, but it proved very useful due to many power outages in the DC-MD-VA area this year. Annual servicing of generator had already been paid by prior home owner. When I had a slight problem with the generator, I called Boyland and they were very responsive. Ive transferred the service from the old homeowner to my name and renewed annual maintenance service.     Boyland Electric installed our generator and did an outstanding job.It went so well I hired them to repair a shorted 3-way switch in our hallway.They did a great job however, it took several weeks to get the parts.The billing was broken down in to 2 invoices they charged two trips to the house and the switches that the tech installed for troubleshooting. After a couple phone calls the switches and one trip was removed were removed. They need a little bit more communication between the tech and the billing office.

    I have a Kohler Generator which needed a new motor - thankfully it was still under warranty with Kohler. Boyland did an excellent job handling all of the warranty claim paperwork with Kohler.
