I had a plumbing emergency and reached out to two local plumbers. Unfortunately, neither could make it to my house for at least a week, which I understood given how busy most contractors are these days. I then decided to call Chris at Excel Mechanical—not for service, but to see if he could recommend someone, as I thought their expertise was limited to new installations (they’re scheduled to install heat pumps next month).To my surprise, Chris informed me that their services extend far beyond new installations and said he’d try to pull someone from another job to help. Within minutes, Kim at Excel’s main office contacted me to enter a trouble ticket, and shortly afterwards I received a text confirmation with a timeframe for the service call.Chris personally followed up to let me know that one of their master plumbers, Robbie, was already on his way. Amazingly, within 30 minutes of my initial call, Robbie was at my door.Robbie greeted me with a big smile and an upbeat attitude. He was professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and tackled the issue with precision—like the Seal Team 6 of plumbing!Excel Mechanical turned what could have been a major headache into a seamless and stress-free experience. Hank came out to my residence and did the annual service on the Navien boiler. Hank was on time, very professional, and he took time to answer questions that I had. Hank also pointed out a few things to be aware of due to the materials used for the radiant floor heating. Excel did a great job for us !Extensive entire house ( 1762 vintage) redesign and replacement of force hot air with 8 Samsung heat pumps. Required linesets through walls and attics.Managed to complete on time and budget against difficult supply chain.Good coordination with other trades. Also relocated an existing hydronic oil boiler system as cold weather back-up. Heat pumps maintained constant quiet and comforable heat all winter with outside down well below 0degF .Enjoying the cool air now !

The individuals that worked on my home were always on time, they were very professional and made the process of new heating systems easy. I’d highly recommend.Update, had an issue with one of the split units, lost pressure. A newer technician came to my home, very capable, well spoken and knowledgeable about the systems and what needed to be done. He had constant support from the original installer. He was neat and efficient. I’m overly impressed with the product , service and technicians.

I had an excellent experience with Excel mechanical when I had a new furnace and water heater installed in November. When I first called them I was very impressed with how responsive they were; they were able to give me a quote very quickly and showed up to all scheduled appointments on time. Not only that, but they offered the lowest price and quickest turn around out of the several companies I got quotes from. I communicated mostly with Asa, who always warm, friendly and got back to me immediately throughout the whole process. Rochelle was also very kind and helpful when I spoke with her. The company went out of their way to get the furnace installed as quickly as possible. They also coordinated everything with my propane company, which I really appreciated. I also asked them to install a new water heater, as mine was very old, and they even moved it to a more convenient spot in the basement for me. Matthew, Brandon, and Bryce did most of the installing, and Keith and Lucas did the vent work, I think. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgable. I felt completely comfortable having them in the house, and they were very conscientious about making sure everything worked well and made sure to clean everything up.

The two heat pumps have worked very well heating the house - can’t wait to try the air conditioning. The air exchange unit works very well for my wife’s asthma.The on demand generator you installed has had to work for a couple of days already. The plumbing is flawless. Great Install. Just had 3 Floor units installed, one in the Living Room recessed under the stairs and the other two upstairs in the bedrooms. Excel mechanical has done multiple projects for me over the last three - five years at my home in Brunswick Maine. Work required includes everything from plumbing to basic electrical to complex heat pump troubleshooting repair and new installation - both old and new pump systems in the same project. Also, natural gas work has been completed to include installation of a natural gas furnace, work on radiant heat system in My Home, and installation of domestic automobile chargers. The owner and technologist I’ve encountered, are knowledgeable, explain the problem with respect, and completed the job in a reasonable amount of time for a fair cost. I’ve never had a problem with scheduling or someone not showing. Thanks! They’re also reasonably priced. I’ve not been unreasonably charged for any project. Thanks!

Called to get an estimate on a new heat pump system installation. They were very responsive, called back and were on site within a week. When the technician arrived he noticed that I already had a system but it was in disrepair. I was told it would be better to install a whole new system by a different company. He disagreed and with his experience and knowledge, he said it was reparable. With his help I was able to navigate through getting my system repaired. Many thanks for his honest appraisal of the situation. It is a rare trait in my opinion and much appreciated. I highly recommend this company.

I was able to schedule an appointment to have my boiler serviced only a few days after I called (not months like my previous servicer). Chris and his trainee showed up on time, and fixed all the issues with my system. It turned out to be much deeper than just a routine cleaning, and they had to run to the store to get parts, but checked in with me throughout the process. They followed through and finished the job that same day. I will definitely be using this company again.

Excel installed 2 heat pumps. Teddy Downy was my sales rep. He was so professional, knowledgeable, and responsive. Im a single mom, so he worked with me on different options and prices, which was very much appreciated. He was also very patient with my slow decision making.The technicians that installed the units were incredibly helpful and respectful. I work from home so they would always make me aware of any loud noise that was going to happen and cleaned up any mess they made.I would highly recommend this company! I am thinking of also getting a 3rd one in my basement next year and will definitely call Excel to install!

Keith installed a Bosh Bova heat pump, and a Bradford White heat pump water heater. I can say unequivocally that we could not have made a better choice. My electric bills dropped on average $30 a month and as early spring and early fall the drop was $50 a month. I not think you can go wrong have Excel take care of your plumbing and HVAC needs.

The Excel team is top shelf! From start to finish they really know their business. They have responded to my every need even at 1am in the morning ( I have a 20 room Motel) when my hot water went down. The owner himself made the trek leaving a family outing to resolve our issue. They are big enough to get the distributor to open up on a Saturday night at 10pm to get us a new boiler so I had hot water the next morning, just amazing.You wont find a better company in all of Maine! In Wiscasset. Henry (Hank) examined our 20 y.o. boiler. It was a leaky, noisy thing with certain pipes and fittings that looked more like coral and barnacles than metal. Hank replaced the goopy looking metal, one pump, replaced a auxiliary tank, replaced the relief pipe, replaced a fuel nozzle, and cleaned it out. Everything is now right and proper and the beastie runs more quietly. Excel Mech/Hank did a fine job. Added years of life to our boiler at a fair and reasonable price. Excel was also very clear up front about costs and Hank did the job right.

Keith Trafton and his team are a top notch group. Weve called him on 2 occasions when we needed help, and help as soon as possible: one for a malfunctioning propane heater and the most recent one for a leaking water heater. On both occasions we received call backs within 2 hours and then Keith or one of his employees arrived by the end of the day. They were professional, polite and clearly explained what needed to be done. The water heater disaster occurred during a snow storm but Keith was at our home by mid-morning to assess the situation. Our necessary new water heater and 2 of Keiths employees were at the house in the afternoon and everything cleaned up and assembled by 4:00 p.m. The receptionist and scheduler we extremely professional and called to let us know when the guys would be on their way even after the appointment was made. Absolutely amazing professional service! My residential hydronic boiler decided it had enough of the stresses of every day life and took a vacation without my approval! Keith at Excel is an experienced and friendly contractor who helped us with our major home remodel last year including removing an old oil furnace, tank and chimney, and installing a new efficient hybrid gas/ heat pump heating system with new duct work. He also worked with us to design and update our plumbing and electric for our kitchen and bath remodels. All the work was professional and top notch. If there was ever an issue with the work or equipment, he was quick to back his work and fix at no charge. Everything was done within projected budget.
