I had Bernies install an expansion tank on a water heater. The experience getting a service quote through email was great, and service was prompt.I cant give full marks because the technician made the pipe too short and had to bend a valve handle for the tank to fit (see before/after pics), and he also didnt know to match tank pressure to house pressure (40psi from factory, 80psi required).

Twice in the last year Ive needed Bernies to come out - once when my old boiler pump needed replacing, and once when I had no hot water and a zone valve to my big hot water tank had broken. Both times I had a great experience. The guys were knowledgeable and quickly figured out and fixed the problems. Also they were friendly, articulate, and had senses of humor. Its great when you can get your boiler fixed and have a smile on your face at the end of it all, because of great folks helping out. And the price for both repairs was very reasonable. If I have any more issues with the boiler setup, Ill be calling Bernies, for sure!

This outfit did a complete replacement of my 50 yr old furnace boiler. Very knowledgeable in breaking up the old boiler and removing all pumps, valves and wiring. Professional soldering job on five new zones, a “side arm” domestic hot water exchanger, and all combustion and feed water components.All this in two days, at cost!They do small plumbing repair jobs quickly too!

He was informative, clear and able to provide price quotes on-the-spot. On the day of installation, the plumber arrived on time, and did the work required quickly and completely without any glitches. They are ALWAYS prompt and take care of the issues correctly the first time. We wondered if we needed to replace our water heater yet. Bernies did not try to take advantage of us by selling us something we did not need. We really appreciated that. You typically get to talk to a PERSON and not a machine, which is refreshing. Even if I have had to leave a message they call me right back. I have tried other companies and have had terrible experiences so I only trust Bernies anymore. They truly are the best!

Bernie’s is our go to plumbing service. They are always on time, our appointments are soon after we call. We’ve used them for garbage disposal, leaky faucets, new kitchen faucet, and toilets and bigger jobs like broken pipes from freezing temperatures. Once they diagnosed the problem with our dishwasher that Columbine had misdiagnosed and saved me unnecessary parts. I had one younger plumber from Bernie’s not pursue a water pressure problem and after prompting him to consider that option indeed the valve was broken. That was the only time I wasn’t 100% happy with their service.

We noticed our old water heater failing one morning (cold showers). I called them after talking first with Kappler, who did our new HVAC system. They refused to look at our old heater, so I called Bernies -- my grandmothers go-to plumbers, back in the day! They gave me a quote for a replacement heater they keep in stock, and that same evening, we had hot water again. Their installer was efficient and pleasant. Were thankful Bernies is still around!

Could not be more impressed with the service I received from Bernies Plumbing & Heating during a water heater replacement at the height of a Colorado freeze when plumbers were swamped with calls. Coordinating service from California I contacted 3 plumbers for quotes. Two of them gave quotes substantially higher than Bernies. For instance the permit fee was quoted by one was 3 times as much as the actual fee charged by the City of Boulder. Bernies did not add a surcharge for the permit only charging what Boulder billed them. Mike worked directly with my tenant for the initial inspection, to replacement which had to be a smaller unit than the one replaced which was over 30 years old, thru coordinating best time for inspection required for the permit while keeping me informed along the way. I will instruct my local agents to use Bernies Plumbing for any future plumbing jobs my condo might need.

Boulder Hypertension ??Dear Neighbors ,Many of Our neighborhood houses have been diagnosed with Hypertension (of your plumbing system) and your house might have it too ( unless youve had your home water pressure tested within the last few years!This is Not a joke! The water pressure entering our Boulder neighborhood ( and Im told this is common in many Boulder neighborhoods) has a pressure of approximately 120 pounds per square inch ( 120 PSI). By code , were all required to have a pressure reducing valve which decreases that pressure to a generally recommended range between 40 -80 PSI. Pressure reducing valves have an anticipated life of approximately 10-15 years , after which they generally loses efficacy. Most of the housing stock in our neighborhood was built circa 1999-2000.Home owners are expected to know this Stuff !! ???On my street our house and at least 4 others (all 5 out of 5 houses tested )have been found with water pressures of 110-120 PSI instead of the recommended 60-80 PSI .Dangers of PSI > 80 psi. Catastrophic water leaks, water loss and excessive wear and tear on plumbing connections. Water leaks are a high % of homeowners insurance claims.Its easy and fast to check your home water pressure, simply screw a water pressure gauge ( around $12 online, Home Depot any hardware store.,etc) up to an outside hose faucet ,then turn the faucet on, takes less than a minute.DATA points : Of 2 plumbing companies $500-$600 replacement range . I used Bernies Plumbing , they offered a fixed price which was very reasonable, they were professional and installed a new pressure reducing valve expertly and efficiently.PS: personal experience : no noticeable effect on shower stream or sprinkler system efficacy ( but Id recommend you subjectively test the water flow at different levels of your home and your outside sprinkler/hose connection if you have your PR valve system replaced and set to a 40-80 recommended psi.)Disclaimer, Im not a plumber, no personal financial interest in this situation.

I had a backflow prevention device that needed to be changed out due to a crack that formed after the winter. Bernies was able to get out within a couple of days and was able to fix the leak by replacing the BFPDevice with one that I had picked up from Home Depot.It was very efficient. It took about an hour, and what I was quoted over the phone was within $10 of the actual invoice.The service technician was very friendly, and gave some good advice while he was out at my place.I recommend these guys.
