If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! Unfortunately, I had to delete my five-star review from 3 years ago to add this one. I was unsure if updating the last review would show it as edited or blend it with older reviews. Nevertheless, three years ago, and again just recently, we had outstanding experiences with Alternative Air.We had a technician out in April 2024 because our thermostat was set to 68-70 degrees, but our house was staying around 74-76 degrees (on any day over 80 degrees, our AC gets turned on, LOL—hence why it was running in April, LOL). The system worked well for a while, but the issue returned. I contacted Alternative Air on 06/24 and spoke with the nicest lady. She couldnt send someone that day but assured me theyd fit us in ASAP. Later that afternoon, she pleasantly surprised me by calling back to confirm a technician would arrive shortly after 8:30 am the next morning. Her proactive follow-up was unexpected and appreciated.The next morning, Nicholas L. called to say hed be over shortly. It was a hot, humid morning, so I offered him water and chatted with him outside as he inspected our unit. Nicholas is not only a thorough technician but also incredibly friendly and personable. Its amazing how quickly we found common ground and chatted like old friends in just 30 minutes. He got our system running perfectly again, and I couldn’t be happier with the service—from my first call on 06/24 to having my AC fixed on 06/25.Keep up the phenomenal work, Alternative Air! A lot can change in three years, but your fantastic service remains consistent!

My wife and I returned home from vacation and our AC had given out! Our house was not in any condition to live in with the extreme heat outside! We contacted Alternative Air and they were able to get us quickly on their schedule (THANK YOU!!!) Ian and Max (trainee) came out, during the promised time period may I add, and quickly diagnosed and repaired our unit. We both noticed that Ian was able to efficiently train Max and complete services without wasting time. These gentlemen even went above and beyond and checked the remainder of our unit and cleaned it. Our AC stopped working in the evening during the hottest week of the year and after a long night of little sleep, Alternative Air was at our house the next morning. I was surprised at how quick they were able to come out and get our AC working again. It was nice coming home to a cooled house especially with kids. A technician came out to our house twice to fix the same problem... When it broke a third time I messaged them on Facebook airing my frustration that the problem had not been fixed but we were charged for 4 hours of work (though the technician was only at our house for 15 minutes at a time).A representative reached out to me and said they would be contacting me directly after they spoke to the technician who responded and the owner, but three days later and that never happened.Turns out there was a miscommunication and the owner reached out to me directly to apologize and communicate. We had an outstanding experience working with Alternative Air on our recent furnace and hot water heater installation. They were super responsive from the time of our initial inquiry all the way until the job was wrapped up and ready for inspection (they even contacted the city to set up an appointment for us for the code inspection after all the work was done!). The materials bid on the project were an exceptionally good value and presented without attempt to oversell higher priced options. We were impressed by the hard work of the two young men who handled the installation, particularly given that the removal of our old furnace proved to be a bit more of a challenge than perhaps originally expected. The cost for the project came in right in line with what was originally bid. We would happily recommend them to others who are considering HVAC installation or repair.

Man, let me tell you…I came home late from work (25 minutes out of town) on a Saturday to the smell of propane in my house. The house was 53 degrees. I immediately knew something was wrong. After a ton of research and troubleshooting (not exactly recommended unless you’re a pro) I gave up and started panic calling HVAC companies and gas companies.Alternative was the first one to respond on Monday, and was here that afternoon!! It’s been 4 days and none of the other companies have responded. My gas leak was diagnosed at my furnace immediately and the Tech ordered the required parts on the spot in my utility room. The Tech was personable and took the extra steps to make sure that my home was truly safe to be in. With the speed and professionalism of my experience, I couldn’t recommend Alternative Air enough! They are worth the price tag that’s just a little more than the other companies I called. I would be staying in a hotel right now if I hadn’t called Alternative. My fiance and I bought our first home knowing that at some point we would need to replace the furnace and AC at the age that they were. They lasted us a few years before they gave out and we knew we needed to find local experts to help us out. One hot day, our AC stopped pumping cold air and so I called Alternative Air. The customer representative was instantly kind and assuring that someone would be out the same day, and it happened. Ian was our guy and he provided exceptional service. Not only did he troubleshoot our AC, but he quickly determined what was causing issues with our furnace too (we knew we were having problems). Due to a chunk of ice on the AC, Ian had to come back later that same day to further inspect. He made time out of his schedule to do this for us and then provide a service report. He topped off our AC so we had enough freon to run through the summer then went back to work. The same day, we received a quote for a full repair from the team at Alternative Air since we wanted to know that cost. After scheduling the replacement, Natalee was super great about communicating when they would be at our home and how long. The guys that replaced our AC and furnace were always respectful to the interior of our home and outside of our home. They wore shoe coverings and were very professional. After installation they even vacuumed up the space around the furnace. Hats off to the team at Alternative Air for providing quick service that is not only fast and reliable but also very professional. Ian and Natalee were fantastic!

The owner of the company stopped by to give a quote and was super friendly and knowledgeable. Their price was nearly half of what another competitor gave. A couple days before the install, I received a call telling me the 2 1/2 ton AC I was quoted wasnt in stock from their supplier, so they upgraded me to a 3 ton unit at no extra cost. On Install day, all three employees at my home were very polite and awesome people to invite in our home. Considering my line of work, I’m always a little apprehensive to have people in my home that I don’t know since I deal with the other side of the world. I of course had some questions about this or that while just making sure I knew what my new system does and doesn’t do, they were all eager and willing to answer everything and they cleaned up as if they were never there. My new HVAC system runs like a champ now. Instead of having a system that just slows the speed of the house heating up on warm days, it actually drops temperature now. Im sure the Wamego electric grid will be happy about my new purchase haha.

Highly recommend. Our AC was not keeping up in the heat of the summer so I called Alternative Air. Our technician, Ian, was professional and easy to work with. He explained what the problem was and proposed solutions. He was able to explain the issue to me in a way that was easy to follow and understand. I called Alternative Air for a furnace issue. They sent their technician Ian to access what was going on with it. He was courteous, and explained what he was going to do to fix it. He wore covers over his shoes so he would not track snow and ice into the house and he exercised Covid-19 precautions while working. He was quickly able to determine what the issue was and called around to locate the part needed to fix it. He returned with the correct part and got it fixed. He even replaced my air filters. I will definitely call them again if needed for any other issues.

We had Seth with Alternative Heating and Air out today to check our A/C unit before the summer heat is full boar, and he was phenomenal! This fall, while having some heating issues they were very accommodating and squeezed us in even with only a few hours notice. At that time they were very professional, and corrected our unit with no problems since. It was then that we joined their bi-annual Spring/Fall servicing program. When Seth came to the house today he was incredibly polite and personable. Even with our crazy hounds barking in the background he assured me it was no problem at all. He gave us great tips for helping to keep our homes temperatures balanced out this summer, reassured us our unit appeared to be sound for another season, and reminded us to give a shout, no matter the time of day if we have any Heating, Plumbing, or Air problems this year! I couldnt recommend Seth or any of the Alternative team members weve had more! Great business to work with!

With the highs only in the teens this week, my heater picked the wrong week to quick working. I called my regular Heater Repair and received the, we will get back to you shortly speech. Not when I called Alternative Air... I got the most friendly and compassionate voice on the phone. After talking with her I also signed up for the Heater/AC Club (not sure if that is the official title). You cant beat this club! I wont get into the details of the club, but I wish I was in this club years ago. So back to the great service... Ian Shriner calls me back a few minutes later to tell me he will be at my house in about 5 minutes. Talk about professionalism and thinking of my safety! He showed up with a mask and had booties to cover his boots. He was very professional and talked at my level. It may be just me, but I do not know anything about a central air heater. What I liked, is he didnt try to use big fancy words and he broke it down to me. He also listened and answered all my questions. I now know more about my own heater than I ever did before. I just must thank Ian for taking the time to work with me. It was really great to have someone like Ian come to our house in our desperate time of need and still show he cared!! We purchased two Air Scrubbers and the Laundry Scrubber from Alternative Air in Manhattan KS. Beginning with the install, it was professional, clean and we were provided a thorough explanation of the product capabilities. The product works as advertised. The Air Scrubber eliminated odors and within 1 to 2 weeks there was a noticeable decrease in the amount of dust in the house. We have a large golden retriever dog and any odor indicating the dog was inside was gone. As for the laundry scrubber, we were impressed. It is difficult to believe laundry can be cleaned without detergent. The Laundry Scrubber has no problem keeping up with our family of four, including two young boys who are budding athletes. Aside from major stains, which would require pretreatment, we have no issue. Clothes are clean and fresh and any pre-existing odors were gone. The washer stays clean and the musty scent which accompanies front load washers has been greatly reduced. Due to using only cold water washing is a one step process; our 10 year old can do it. We highly recommend these products and the install and service provided by Alternative Air.

We moved into the house this past Saturday and couldnt figure out our tankless water heater. While Robbie, the repairman, was working on our water heater, my husband was cleaning and dying our leather couches. My husband spilled the leather dye all over are brand new hard wood flooring. Without even asking, Robbie was on his hands and knees helping us clean up our mess. Not only did he stay an additional hour to help us clean up the spill, he brought us wipes that took the stain out of our wood! We jokingly told Robbie that he saved our Marriage with helping us! Robbie kept my husband and I laughing during the whole clean-up process. In addition to teaching us about out tankless water heater and making sure everything worked properly on the plumbing end, he went above and beyond in helping us with something completely unrelated to why he was there. I want to preface we have used Alternative air since Spring / Summer 2020 for all our needs in our new home. We had them install a minisplit AC unit, they were the most friendly, informative, and affordable. Their bidder took time to speak with us, and they stood by their quote. We only have had to have them come out for the unit once because operator error on our part with the remote, until this week. Even then they were amazing.I called Monday 1/4/2021, and informed the super friendly woman answering the phone (I believe was named Lindsay) that we were renovating a room, and needed assistance with the minisplit unit they had installed over the summer 2020. Lindsay helped to get us scheduled for first thing Wednesday 1/6/2021 to have a technician (Ian) come out and help us take the unit off the wall, so we could remove some ship lapping, and then he would remount it. Upon coming out Ian realized it would not be that easy and we had a couple options. One was to completely remove the Unit drain it and recharge it so we could remove all of the ship lap. Or he said he could probably just carefully cut around the ship lap and the bracket and remount it, costing us about an hour labor. Ian presented options to us to help us accomplish our goal of renovating affordably, and quickly. We use Alternative for all of our HVAC and Plumbing type needs. They stand by their work, are always friendly, and are super easy to work with. If you are not using Alternative Air you are only cheating yourself.

I called as a first time customer with a stuck air filter, they came out within an hour, fixed my issue and checked up on everything else. Response time was quick, appointment was quick, and my technician Ian was very helpful!
