Having moved this year, it was my second solar panel installation by Midwest Solar Power. The management up to the install date and after was well organized. The day of installation went quickly. The crew showed up on time and efficiently split duties between the panel installers on the roof and the electrical wiring crew in the basement. All was done by early afternoon just in time for the sun to come out. After 3 weeks, the on-line monitoring system shows the panels are providing clean electricity to our home and the grid. Good experience. I recommended Midwest Solar Power to my neighbor.

Midwest did our recent solar install on our south-facing garage roof in Madison. They were easy to work with and were happy to address our concerns with future-proofing issues such as being able to easily add an EV charger in our garage if we want to later.Their bid was in the same range as other firms, but we felt better about the info we were getting. (One competitor suggested we could add the cost of taking down an old tree in our front yard to what we claimed for the 30% federal tax credit, which seemed dodgy).We’re now producing as we had hoped (getting 4.1 kW output on our ~5 kW-spec’ed system in mid-October.) They submitted our state forms for us and sent us the form for the Federal tax credit. They also responded quickly and satisfactorily to post-install questions.All in all, a good experience.

The installation crew was skilled and efficient. They had a joy about them as they worked: there was a team spirit and enthusiasm for the installing. Everything was finished and they were offsite by mid-afternoon.During system design: we wanted to consider Made in USA options for the panels. Midwest Solar had two main suppliers but could also bring in numerous other panel manufacturers. We chose QCell, which has assembly in the US and is planning to build the actual solar wafers in the US soon.Barrett handled pre and post questions in a good way.We are one month in and the work looks and runs as promised.

We highly recommend Midwest Solar! My husband had them install solar panels on his commercial building several years ago and has been happy with them. The production has been as promised. When planning to add solar for our home (following replacing our roof last year), I spearheaded a group of interested neighbors and reached out to and obtained quotes from 6 different local solar companies. Midwest and one other had the most affordable quote for the amount of production, but Midwest stood out as the most responsive with a proven track record. Overall, weve had a great experience.

Here’s the deal - after notable research in the Madison area, these guys got the best feedback and referrals from past clients. I brought them in and it was clear why. They care, they work hard to work with their clients, don’t use pressure sales tactics (which you certainly see from others) and they operate like a Madison company should. I was impressed before the project and equally impressed during and after. Each step of the way they operate with care and not just on a transactional basis. Pricing was also very competitive with other quotes. Overall, if I were to summarize, they just did the business of solar the right way - and you should definitely consider them for your project.

We got estimates from 5 different solar companies that were recommended by the MadiSUN program. Midwest Solar Power stood out to me because the gentleman who came to the house (Rick) was the only one who actually got on the roof! He was so thorough and kind, and really sold it for us. The estimate came back on the lower end also (although they were all pretty similar) so we went with MSP. From that first day on, the service, communication and work has been excellent. Our solar has been working for one day so far, and Tom called me to make sure I was completely comfortable with what has been done and also will be there to answer questions that I have (if any) moving forward. That said, he was so thorough that I doubt Ill have any. Five stars!!

Midwest Solar installed a system for us in July 2023, and it was a pleasure to work with them throughout the process. Midwest Solar was the most thorough of the three companies that gave us estimates - their visit to our house was the longest and most informative of the three - so it was clear from the get-go that they were really concerned about quality. They also offered the best value of the three companies when comparing the three proposals. Everyone at Midwest Solar was super friendly (to both the humans and dogs in our house), and it was just a great all-around experience. I would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone interested in doing a solar project.

We had solar panels installed by Midwest Solar in September of 2021. From our first contact with them to the completion of the project, I was impressed with their service, friendliness and reliability. About 2 months before the installation, we were given a date and time that they would show up to install the panels. Understanding variables in contractor scheduling, I was not expecting them to be on time; yet they showed up promptly at the originally promised time. They handled all the paperwork and coordination with inspectors and our power utility. They helped us get a rebate from Focus on Energy. They handled any unexpected issues without an increase in price. Their team even noticed a potential roof leak around an exhaust pipe (completely unrelated to the installation of the panels) and showed me how to repair it. The solar panels are working wonderfully. This was the best experience I have ever had with any contractor.

We installed our system in Dec 2022. Things were a little delayed with MGE and if I recall maybe a dealy with the panels we wanted b/c it was in the middle of the pandemic. Midwest was able to get some higher yield panels for us. We interviewed both MW and Full Spectrum and I liked that Midwests approach to our array b/c it offered a slightly better yield and it was more robust. We also got our electrical panel increased to 200 A, so it was all rolled into 1 project and 1 loan. That made it easy. Overall very turnkey, and we didnt have to do much other than sign some paperwork. We like to run our AC quite a bit in the summer, but overall our MGE bill dropped about $100/month.

Midwest Solar installed 25 panels in four areas onto our somewhat complicated roof. We are very happy with them. It took them about a day and a half to do the install. Five days (including a weekend) after they finished the installation the system was connected to the grid. The system has been running for about two weeks now with no problems. The whole process from initial visit and estimate to ongoing communications and installation was very smooth. They also handled the interactions with our homeowners association, city permitting and arrangements with our electric company. The project manager and the whole installation crew were great to work with. The electricians made an extra effort to route the conduit through the cramped attic and along the edge of the roof line and corner of the house to minimize the visual impact. We highly recommend them.

Very happy with the Tom who came out to discuss a system for us. He described everything in detail, plus and minuses for different features, and was not in any way pushy. Work was done quickly and working as proposed and expected. The system is paying our monthly costs and then part of our original cost. We installed the system with knowing it would be a while before it paid for itself but we were more concerned with just providing for our share and any extra is great.Loved the team and highly recommend them.

Tom in particular endured my endless flurry of questions throughout the process via call and email and I couldnt be more grateful for his quick and thoughtful responses to everything.The day of the installation couldnt have gone smoother. Trent and Travis were phenomenal in their on-site handling of the installation with the rest of the crew, consulting me on some of the finer details and keeping me informed as the installation progressed. It only took a day. Once finished, they did a recap of all of the work that was done, explained the system setup in great detail and how to operate it once the utility approved.In particular, Im impressed by the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the installation, especially the conduit run and making it look as clean as possible. There were definitely much easier and simpler ways to get all of the equipment connected, but they didnt take the simple and easy way out on any of it. Prior to the installation they did not try to up sell us and were excellent communicators throughout the entire process. There were no surprises, from the initial meeting, to securing the proper permits and finally installation they were punctual and professional. I have already recommended Midwest Solar to friends. They are a local Madison company that does excellent work, didn’t make us feel like our small project was at all a waste of their time, in fact was quite the opposite. Midwest has done two rooftop solar installations for us, in 2015 (for home) and 2022 (so we could add an EV). They are wonderful to work with. They shop for the best equipment and are very responsive to our specific needs. There is ongoing monitoring of the systems efficiency. The whole process is taken care of - permitting, warranty forms, tax credit information, etc.

Update: In the final stages of paperwork, waiting for the electrical utility to give us the final sign-off. But, the install, itself, went smoothly. The team was professional and helpful.My panels havent been installed, yet (Im scheduled for October). But, so far, the process has been great. Midwest Solar has been nothing but professional through the entire process, thus far. I received quotes through three highly rated solar vendors in the area - Midwest Solar had the best price (by far - more than 10% less than the second lowest quote). I bombarded Barrett with questions about solar, in general - number of panels, % coverage, panel efficiency, changes in the solar market, batteries, initial project scope, rebate limitations, impacts to my roof, what to expect if I decide I need more panels in the future, etc. His answers were both helpful and honest (I did separate online research after talking with him).After signing, Midwest quickly managed the initial paperwork with my electricity vendor, filed with Wisconsins solar rebate program, and worked with me on different panel arrangements to both match aesthetics and also focus on efficiency (they also made a couple of changes at my request). Ive felt like Im in control of the big picture while they handle the important (and tedious) details.Midwests initial quote was also helpful vs other vendors: they provided details on the available products, their recommendations, and the process (from initial quote to completed installation). I had to dig into questions with other vendors for what products they use and details on price and process.Midwests quote wasnt for their cheapest option, either - they quoted the high-end price for their offerings, which was still significantly lower than competitors. Ill update if Im concerned after installation, but it has been great, so far.

Midwest Solar installed our system about 1.5 years ago and had nothing but a positive experience. They werent the cheapest of the few quotes we received, but they offered the best equipment for the price, which is why we chose them.The sales rep was very knowledgeable, and worked with us to ensure we found the right size system within our budget. Installers had the entire project completed within a day, and didnt leave a trace they were there (except for the new panels). Almost 2 years later, everything is still working great. Have not needed to contact customer support or file any warranty claims.For the Engineers/Programmers out there, one nice benefit of the SolarEdge monitoring software is the API, giving you the capability of creating your own dashboard, or just bulk downloading data on a more granular level for your own archive. There are even a few ready-made PyPi packages available, though writing your own is pretty straight forward.

Additionally, one of the national companies that I had gotten a bid from went out of business. A friend had chosen this national company around the same time and ended up with an incomplete installation. In the end Im happy I went with a local provider rather than a national chain.

We originally went with Midwest Solar Power based upon recommendations of previous customers who used MSP and because they were by far the lowest priced of the other bidders.The MSP installation team was very professional and responded quickly to our suggestions regarding routing of the power conduits and the inverter location. Midwest Solar Power were great start to finish. I was able to work with Rik on the consult and proposal. He was very straightforward and honest which I appreciated. He did not over-promise what the panels could do or guarantee specific payback years (as other companies do). I appreciated the time he took to explain how everything works and answer all my questions.Our system came online late 2020. Even through the gloomy and snowy winter the production was pretty impressive. This spring weve started to see more of the potential and have been producing more than our usage and cant wait to see how it performs in the summer as we still havent seen peak performance yet.Price is very reasonable. The installation crew was fantastic and really as out of the way as they could be - left zero mess behind. From beginning to end communication was prompt and easy. We installed a 15 kW grid tied ground mounted array placed appx 120 from our house. The systems generates more than we use during the day and we sell the surplus back to the grid and then take it off the grid at night. They were very good to work with for siting the array as our roof was not aligned for optimal solar collection and we wanted the ground mounting to be out of site when we looked out of the house. We got bids from 3 other solar providers for this project and Midwest Solar had the best price, and in our opinion, the best equipment (panels, inverters, etc). 3 1/2 years down the road we are 100% satisfied. So far this year (11 months) we have had $0 in electric bills and are carrying about $200 in credits for the electricity we put back on the grid and we have recouped 36% of the installation cost. Of course ground mounting is more expensive than roof, but we are on track for a 9.5 year payback on the system. We have had zero problems with the system post install - never had to call them back for anything. This company is solid, we whole heartedly reccommend them.

Great experience with this company. Due to the shortage of snow this winter they were able to complete the installation two months earlier than planned. Michael did a great job explaining and designing in detail what our solar panel installation would look like. It has been running for two months now and I can daily check how much solar power is being produced via the app. If you are thinking about installing solar do it now since the tax credits are starting to decrease!
