We had an excellent experience with Derrick and his team at Schmidt Painting. He promptly responded to our request for a quote, was reasonably priced, got our job done quickly and professionally. He repaired a large hole in our ceiling from a woodstove that we removed, repaired some other spots on our ceiling, and then painted the entire ceiling and several walls in our cottage that needed refreshing. Cleaned everything up nicely as well. We would recommend!

I am 67 years old and had many painting contractors. Schmidt Painting (Derrick) is by far the best I have ever dealt with. His crew never stops all day. The quality of their work is the best I have seen. In addition to the painting I had about 13 pieces of rotted trim replaced with composite which was installed perfectly. They stayed within their quote and always asked beforehand if any additional work was found. Great company.

They removed shelving, updated our fireplace, and replaced all interior doors and hardware.The crew was fantastic...polite, respectful and very precise with their work. Derrick and crew painted the exterior fall 2023 (he did the exterior in 2014 and it still looked pretty good) and most of the interior spring 2024. Overall good job. They arrived on time, were attentive to details (especially touch ups) and worked quickly to get the job done (important for the interior while living there). Clean up was good and they did several small extras without additional cost. Prepping always important was well done throughout both jobs, particularly for refinishing the kitchen cabinets.

Ive used Schmidt for several interior and exterior jobs over several years and was always pleased by their professionalism and responsiveness and with the quality (and durability) of their work. Most recently, when I had an expedited job, I called Derrick and within 24 hours had an acceptable estimate and schedule. Crew was punctual, professional and skilled, and I was very happy with the whole experience. Under the circumstances, Derrick could have charged a premium, but the price was fair and reasonable.

Although we initially had a number of minor disappointments with the job, Derrick was quick to address our issues and make us right upon learning of our experience. The quality of the work that Derrick Schmidt and crew did was excellent. We were very pleased with the final appearance of the job and the clean up they did. The newly painted walls and ceiling brightened up our Cape Cod living room area. Derrick was reliable, showing up on time when giving us an estimate, and doing the job in less than two full days when we were away, which was ideal.The only reason for me giving Schmidt Painting a 4 star instead of a 5 star rating was that the price for the final job was more than we expected. In all fairness, the job was a complicated one, having them paint two rooms with a cathedral ceiling, with pine ceiling boards and beams, and unprimed wallboard that had paint on top of old wallpaper walls and a problem with the previous wallpaper seams. The original estimate was for $3548, with the explanation that if they worked on covering the wallpaper seams, it would be $70 an hour extra. There was no indication of how many hours this might involve. We agreed to have them try to sand and cover the wallpaper seams thinking that this would be an extra expense of several hundreds of dollars. What we did not know is that Derrick and his crew would end up billing us for 17.9 hours specifically for the wallpaper seams, apparently for 3 crew members working on that task, which was an extra $1252, bringing the total for the job up to $4800 which seemed a bit high for painting two rooms. If we knew that the seam work would cost $1252 extra, we might have just left the seams visible and not have had them do the extra work.To sum up Derrick and crew did an excellent job on painting our two rooms. but I think they can do better on improving the estimate pricing he gives the customer for optional, extra parts of the job, so the customer is not shocked by the unexpected extra costs at the end of the job.

We needed touch up painting for the exterior siding, shutters and trim on a large house in Wellfleet, MA and the exterior trim on an art gallery next door. The timing of the work was important as the house is a seasonal rental and we had guests that were scheduled to arrive soon after the work was scheduled. Derrick and his crew did a great job and completed the work in the time agreed upon. The work was completed in May 2019 and the cost was $2,060. I would happily use them again and definitely recommend Schmidt Painting.
