Our kitchen was a nightmare before we found Two Poor Teachers. We had been living with an outdated design and water damaged sink base for years up until this month.We have been planning a new kitchen for a year now and were finally able to get bids from remodelers in our area of Arlington va.We chose to hire them based off of the online reviews and presence they have. Very active plus the results we have seen with a bar/island is something I wanted to have for all our game nights and family gatherings.Their process is very standard, but they also listened to what we needed in our kitchen and how to utilize our space.This was the determining factor in winning our business and I am glad we were able to make it work.The kitchen is now an area we will enjoy for decades to come with our family. Two Poor Teachers remodeled our shower and we could not be happier. They were very reasonably priced. They were easily the most transparent contractor who estimated the work, both with estimates and with answering questions. We also appreciate how Jeremiah did not push unnecessarily changes, provided sensible design advice and saved us a lot of money by recommending more affordable tiles that looked exactly like what we want.The work was executed in a timely and organized matter. The work was completed on schedule as estimated. The team was polite and cleaned up after themselves. Now we have a stunning shower!We also appreciated how Jeremiah gave us his contact information in case if there were any issues (and there were not) and how he showed up to check on the project himself.When picking a contractor, we do not just want excellent work at a reasonable price, we want a trustworthy and transparent contractor who clearly cares about maintaining a stellar reputation and ensuring every single project is done right. Two Poor Teachers exhibited all these qualities. We strongly recommend them for bathroom and kitchen remodeling projects and we would gladly use them again ourselves.

One of the best bathroom contractors we have hired to work on our property. Having a lot of rentals in the Fairfax and Arlington we get quite a few recommendations from our tenants, Two Poor Teachers name was given to us. We hired the team to renovate the bathroom and install a proper vented fan out of the house from the bathroom ceiling. We also had them install a new thermostat and relocated the floor vent during the renovation as well. We would recommend them highly to anyone seeking a remodeling & hvac contractor.

Over the past 12 years Two Poor Teachers has completed two remodeling projects for us, a kitchen remodel this year, and a bathroom remodel in 2007.The reason we have used them for our projects is that their work is very high quality, but at a fair price. The team is very professional with everything in writing to minimize surprises.I would highly recommend that anyone who is considering a remodeling project at least get an estimate from Two Poor Teachers We love our remodeled bathroom and kitchen.

Bathroom remodel delivered on time (even a little early) and to expectations. Project certainly had its fair share of hitches as they all do, but ultimately they did what we wanted, cheaper than others and faster than others without skimping on quality (will update with any concerns). Company has a unique business model that I really liked in a lot of respects, but it also does put more responsibility on the client, especially if you want things highly customized. That is not a criticism, you just need to be prepared for that going into a project. While you put more work in, the counterpat is that youll save some money.

We had our kitchen renovated by Two Poor Teachers in November- they started and finished on dates as promised and we are very satisfied with quality of work. They put you in touch directly with vendors for cabinets, floors, counter tops etc so there is no mark up. Their cabinet/kitchen designer (Taylor Made Kitchens) did an excellent job helping us reconfigure the space to be more user friendly and we gained a ton of counter space. The floor and counter top vendors were outstanding! Jeremiah is readily available and is reasonable. We had a few hiccups, but they were taking care of immediately. At the end of the day my wife and I are pleased we found Two Poor Teachers and absolutely love our new kitchen!! We highly recommend TPT without hesitation.

He knew how to get our bathroom done the way we wanted and was able to get it done faster than Lowes, plus the free estimate and advice is what really helped us make a great choice.

We had a pretty unusual master bathroom remodel that was contracted on flat fee plus time and materials basis. The crew was very punctual, and the end product was excellent. The renovation required a full gutting of a very small bathroom and moving 2 non-load bearing walls in addition to the replacement of all plumbing in the house. The plumbing replacement took a little longer than initially anticipated due to some weird layout issues, but the crew notified us as soon as it was clear that the time would exceed the initial estimate (as specifically requested in the contract).The few negatives involved breaking one of the blades on our master bedroom ceiling fan (they replaced with a fan of our choosing, but neglected to remove the cost from the final invoice), and a slightly wobbly toilet, grout seepage, and forgetting to reinstall a new HVAC register, which were all corrected in a followup visit. I would have preferred to conduct final walk through with the crew before them declaring the project completed, but all of our minor issues were resolved before we were asked for payment.I do wish we they would have been a little more flexible in their pricing since we purchased virtually all of the materials for the project, but compared to what other contractors were quoting, Two Poor Teachers was competitively priced. Their model for bathroom renovations seems to be geared towards quick and simple cookie-cutter style renovations, but they did an excellent job with our relatively complicated and custom project.I would highly recommend them for most bathroom renovation projects.

We took our time with picking out the materials for them to install. We did shop around the area before we signed with Two Poor Teachers. Took a 50 year old bathroom and brought it into the modern era. The guy running the job (Godo) & his assistant couldnt have been better, keeping to a tight schedule while producing an outstanding finished product. His work followed Jeremiah taking the time to answer all of our questions with the patience of a saint. From a quality as well as a price standpoint, cannot speak highly enough about Two Poor Teachers.

We had use many contractors for repairs and renovation over the years and many is just a big disappointment. Two poor teachers showed top notch professionalism right from our first meeting. Jeremiah was on time and had given us many options in renovating our kitchen and master bath without breaking the bank. Quote along with plans was sent to us in a timely manner and we were able to make a decision quickly.They were able to start work rather quickly and crew that came was very well trained. Crew work fast but kept our furniture and personal belongings cleaned from debris and paint. Jeremiah is a very well organized manager. He kept us posted on the work progress and even when we had a delayed because the granite was not ready, the crew was able to continue working on other part of the renovation project.We resurfaced our cabinets, put in new granite top, faucet and sink, new kitchen floor tiles and fresh paint throughout the whole house. We also replaced our master bath vanity, mirror, light fixtures, toilet and re-tiled the whole bath. They took out the tub and tile a brand new standing shower as well. (Wife absolutely love the new standing shower with high pressure shower faucet) We also had wood flooring installed in our living room and dining room. The finish work was so amazing and high quality, it made our house looks like a million dollar home. If we had the money, we would have renovated the whole house. Definitely worth giving them a try for your next home renovations.
