I was lucky enough to get referred to Robben & Sons Heating through the Oregon Heat Pump Incentive program. After filling out the form online I was contacted the next day to ask about my needs for Heating and Cooling and was able to schedule an appointment for an estimate that week. If you are familiar with contractors this is very rare and a reflection of the service that Robben & Sons delivers. The estimator/consultant Colin was super professional, showed up on time and answered all my questions. After our visit he promptly sent over competitive bids varying in equipment and needs, the best part the estimate came with model numbers and images so you knew what the general size of the units were. We went back on forth on the best options, what my needs were and prices that worked for me. The scheduling was super easy as well and I was slotted in the following week. The installers came the following week and were fantastic. A team of three that grew to a team a five to make sure the job got done right. The worked with me to minimize the height and placement of the heat pump, carried the unit over the hedge so it would not damage the landscaping and did everything possible to make sure the unit was placed between the windows and out of the line of sight. While one team worked on the Heat Pump the other team was downstairs installing the furnace and did a superb job. There was a follow up the day after to make sure all the equipment was operating properly and that I knew how the system worked. I tell you this Bryant setup is quiet, cools the house super quick, and is very efficient. I live in a 100 year old plus house and the venting is tough upstairs with the old AC unit I had prior, this new system is a game changer. Not to mention Colin and team matched the price of another installer that I had reached out to beforehand and did a brilliant job and setting it up. They even sent me a thank you note and gift basket. If there is ever a question of who to call for your Heating and Cooling needs this professional, courteous, and friendly team of a family owned business Robben & Sons is it!

Your guys did a great job. They were in and out in a day and 1/2, cleaned everything up nicely and explained the system functions. The sales and office staff were very helpful, as well. The Robben & Sons price for the job was substantially below another quote that I received for the same HVAC equipment configuration. That vendor also did not inform me of an $1800 credit that was available for the equipment.

I have a maintenance contract on my HVAC system for my home with Robben & Sons. They come out in spring and fall and check over the AC in spring and the furnace in the fall. Tune up, check for leaks, check heat exchanger, (this furnace is 22 years old) and generally make sure everything is working fine. The technician always arrives on time with text messages when he is on the way. They are doing an excellent job helping me extend the life of this old system, delaying the cost of putting in new one. Money well spent. A+ for their servce.

I chose Robben & Sons to install a heat pump in existing duct work, and was impressed with the service. From Sales, to Install, to followup, everyone was friendly and professional.There was a big issue with the install though, the unit was not cooling the house. The adapter from my duct work was poorly integrated into what they installed, with lots of gaps and bit of a messy install. However, I called and expressed the unit wasnt cooling and they were very prompt to re-visit (next day) and try to address it. They replaced parts of the existing distributor duct so it better fit the condenser unit. In the end, it looks much better but they were still unable to fix the issue and the unit was still struggling to cool the home. Once the work was complete I was quickly called to finalize the bill (within 15 minutes after the tech left) giving me little time to evaluate how things were working.The contract clearly stated they cant account for existing duct work. Im a bit conflicted on how I should feel about the install. I was impressed with their prompt support, but felt they wanted to quickly bill and finalize the sale after attempting to address the problem. Im also surprised out of the 4 techs that had been in my home, none noticed the issue. (large amount of air being sucked into the wall, and then up into my return duct 1 foot behind the unit where they were working and troubleshooting.)Once I realized they werent going to address it, I figured out the issue quickly. I found the gap in the misconfigured (pre-existing) plenum area that was creating a loop from my return air duct, back to my furnace room. I fixed it within 15 minutes by installing a piece of plywood to close a gap (picture included). Now my return airflow is pulling much stronger from upstairs, and their install is working amazingly. I say all this because I could have seen this going a different direction if the customer was someone without troubleshooting/critical thinking mindset, and would have resulted in multiple repeat visits for the same issue, or potentially having another company come out to check it.In summary, they feel like a great company with great people. But there was a technical miss on the install that was an easy fix and Im not certain how much support I would have gotten if I had needed it.

After numerous attempts from the original installer of our heat pump and a local specialist, I had to call Robben & Son’s to finally repair the problem. The local company wanted to charge over $3000 to flip the air exchanger to improve airflow. Robben & Son’s replaced a sensor in the heat pump for less than $300. I wish there was a 6 star rating.the tech was knowledgeable and friendlyI had Robben & Son’s return to service my equipment. The technician was outstanding. He found and replaced a bad capacitor and serviced my equipment. When I called to make the appointment I had understood the price was a specific amount and when I explained the issue the technician made the adjustment on the spot. What an outstanding business to work with. Robben and Son’s has a customer for life!

Service work done on our 8 year old heat pump. Josh with Robben and Sons is terrific. He checked the system for not functioning and discovered a defrost board was faulty. He took the time to drive from my residence in NW Portland to Tualatin to pick up the necessary part, returned to the residence and installed it. All is now functioning properly. Again, my thanks to Josh as well as Robben & Sons for a job well done. They initially installed the system for us when we built in 1993. The Heat Pump was added in 2016 and we have been extremely happy with the organization. Thank you very much for your assistance as always.

I absolutely cannot say enough wonderful things about Robben and Sons. I had to have a boiler replaced with a heat pump and tankless water heater and they were the only company to honestly pass along all of the factory rebates, they were the best price, best customer service and seemless install. Anthony, the lead, was great to work with, made sure I understood all of the new equipment, made me laugh and treated his crew well. It sounds funny to gush about a furnace crew, but this company was hands down the best experience and the best price. I value their honestly and work ethic. The next day he was on-site, provided an inspection and simple parts and labor quote. I say simple because his product overview was professional, clear and concise. No guesswork. R&S offered high quality product at competitive prices. The deciding factor was they could complete installation that week. No other company had the quality/price I wanted and most were a week out or more from potential install. Every step of the way and every employee I talked to it was a great experience. Old AC needed updating and they were upfront with me about maintenance costs and bang-for-the-buck for each price point in my options. When there was a delay in getting my unit they found a way to get a slightly better one on time and at the same price point. Colin provided four different price/equipment options, sized the equipment to meet the needs of our home, and worked with us on our final choice. They helped arrange zero-interest financing. The installation team showed up right on time and the installation was efficient, neat and unintrusive. After the installation was completed, Anthony walked us through the system and helped program the new thermostat. We also received a follow-up call from the office. All in all, a great experience.

Great firm from the owner to the office coordination team to the system installers to our annual service tech Randall. Randall originally bailed us out during the winter when our old furnace boiler wasnt working, then suggested we review a new system, the owner came out, did the estimate and we went for it; the install team did all as speced, within the quote. this was about four years ago and weve had Randall back every year for the annual maintenance to keep this furnace in top shape. Recommended company for old furnace maintenance, new installs and annual checkups.

The Monday before the heat wave (6-21-2021) I turned on my AC in anticipation of the impending nightmare of 115 degrees and nothing!Called around, all three weeks out so I tried a little DIY on line with capacitor replacement, nothing. Robben & Sons was recommended by a friend, called, they came out by that Wednesday, trouble shot it, bad board which he replaced the next day but nothing! Bad Fan motor. Our Service Tech JJ sat in our driveway, in his truck for 45 minutes trying to locate a motor but could not. By Friday he said he would call me Monday and update me. Monday came, JJ called as promised and told me he expedited me a motor and would be there Tuesday to install. Tuesday showed up and so did JJ with Motor ,installed it, even if it was one day after the 115 deg. heat. This company and JJ in particular, were out standing to say the least. We are going on their 15.00 monthly maintenance plan for AC and Furnace. A few weeks ago, I noticed that our heat pump didn’t seem like it was putting out any heat. I gave Robben & Sons Heating a call. They had set me up with an appointment for one of the technicians to come out. My heat pump was at least 15 years old and I had an idea that it had probably reached the end of its life expectancy.The technician, Josh arrived on time. I might add, I did reschedule from my original appointment. When I did reschedule, the staff, particularly Mary Jo at Robben & Sons were very professional, accommodating and was able to set me up with another appointment within a week. Josh ran some diagnostics and gave me the news that I was hoping not to hear….no refrigerant and weak heat strips. Josh recommended replacement and I agreed. He offered to have a project consultant to come out and give me an estimate. Fortunately, the consultant had an opening later in the day.The consultant, whose name is Roz, arrived and looked over my situation. Roz asked some questions regarding our heating and cooling patterns of my wife and me. We were limited to options as we live in a manufactured home. Roz worked out a solution which included increasing the size of my unit to a Bosch 3-ton condenser from a 2-ton. I agreed with this as I always thought the 2-ton was undersized for this size house and the number of windows we have. I sold HVAC many, many years ago, so I have a little knowledge of the products. I was happy with the product and felt the price was within the reasonable limits. Sold!So, I was set up for installation within a reasonable time. Matt and Anthony showed up on time and worked the entire day installing my new system. During the installation, Matt answered the questions that I had and provided valuable training on my new thermostat. The thermostat is very cool. It is a Bryant Housewise with wi-fi. Away from the house, I can check the current temperature and increase the heat or turn on the cooling side. It gives me a weather forecast as well as other options. The install team finished up and cleaned up leaving the area spotless.There are a lot of HVAC companies and they all have different prices, higher and lower from what I paid. Bottom line is the office and management staff is professional and customer oriented. The techs, sales staff and install team are professional and customer oriented. They sell a quality product with a service staff that backs it up. As you can see, I was happy with the process and would recommend Robben & Sons to anyone.

A friend referred me to Robben and Sons for a new furnace and A/C installation. I had a really old gas furnace and NO A/C in my house. The price was really good to replace my gas furnace with a high efficient gas furnace and newly installed A/C unit. The installers were friendly and professional. I am extremely pleased with my new furnace and A/C unit. I would highly recommend this business to anyone that needs installation and/or maintenance on their current systems. Wonderful experience with this company from office staff, sales, installers, and technicians.
