Alex responded to our emergency call on a Sunday afternoon, when we discovered water leaking into our basement from an overhead pipe, by instructing us to turn off the main water valve and saying he would come as soon as he could after dealing with others emergencies. He texted us during the afternoon to reassure us he could be there, and arrived at around 8 pm, when he quickly diagnosed the problem and promptly fixed it. He also recommended a small upgrade which would eliminate this problem in the future, and we will certainly have him return to do that, as well as offering some suggestions about how to make our aging in place home more user friendly.Besides being such a competent and responsive plumber, Alex is a totally charming person who took the time to sit with us for a bit even at the late hour, to tell us about his background and how he got to where he is professionally. We are very pleased to have discovered him and will most certainly call upon him again!

Alex is not only the most professional, but also the most responsive and reliable plumber I’ve ever known. We have a toilet with broken flange that causes water leakage to the basement. After meeting with Alex for short while during his emergency visit Saturday night, I felt like inviting him to come over for dinner some time. How often does that happen?Alex was working a bunch of emergency calls Saturday night, and ours was just one. We suspected that we needed to have a new hot water heater installed but he found a simple lose electrical contact and we were all set. We would have been down at least $2K with some one else. For this, no charge.He is the guy to call and he is the guy to make your go to when you need help with plumbing. I feel like we have found a new friend.

Alex was absolutely fantastic! I had a new kitchen counter/sink, as well as a bathroom dual vanity counter/sink installed by contractors. Unfortunately the p-traps didnt line up with the existing plumbing. I had previously hired a handyman to do the plumbing work, but it was a nightmare. The guy spent nearly two days fumbling around getting almost nothing done and then charged me an arm and leg for the work/time. I had been without a kitchen sink for 3 days at that point. I called around and everyone was booked. Thankfully, I came across Amherst Plumbing and Heating. Alex was able to come by the same day! He even came at 9pm at night to install the 3 p-traps, hookup a garbage disposal and fix a half finished valve repair, in record time for a very reasonable price. So reasonable that it made me realize how much I got ripped off by the previous handyman. Alex was also very generous with his knowledge, given Im a first time homeowner. Hes a super friendly, professional and down to earth guy. Definitely my go-to for future plumbing needs.

He was able to correct a critical issue left undone by another plumber and cleverly solved a few installation issues on the faucet leaving everything in a very professional manner. I have had the experience of using Amherst Plumbing on two different occasions. Both times Alex was extremely helpful. He fit me in both times and repaired a toilet and a sump pump. Their pricing was very reasonable and their service was available very quickly both times. Alex did an excellent job with my sump pump and repaired the problem and saved me from having to buy a new pump. I highly recommend their services. I have already spoken to him about another plumbing project. Highly recommended. You wont be disappointed.

Alex installed heat and air conditioning mini splits in our entire house. He is a stellar plumber and businessman. There was an issue with one unit due to manufacturing defect; he dealt with it immediately. He worked with our schedule, provided all the paperwork we needed to get a rebate. I highly recommend him. I was lucky enough to find Alex and Amherst Plumbing and Heating on Google, and Im so happy I did. I was told by a reputable local plumbing company that a furnace at one of my rentals had a cracked heat exchanger and needed to be replaced. I called Alex for a second opinion and estimate to replace the furnace. After inspecting it he told me he didnt think anything was wrong with the furnace. He came back with a camera to confirm his hunch, and took the time to check that the heat exchanger was still under warranty in case it did need replacing, saving me thousands of dollars. Its not often that you find a service company that truly puts their customers best interests first and takes the time to do the right thing. I cant recommend Alex and Amherst Plumbing and Heating enough. A real class act.

We had a pipe freeze and then burst and leak into our basement. Like enough to damage all of the laminate flooring. And of course this happened on a Sunday afternoon 3 days before leaving for a trip to California. It was a main line so we had to turn off the water. We called a bunch of plumbers that told us they arent available for weeks. We found Alexander and he said he would be there in a few hours. He came at midnight!! We were ecstatic to get everything fixed and be able to shower Monday morning. He fixed the pipe in 20 minutes and even fixed something on our washer quickly. He will come at any hour to fix pretty much anything for you. Very reasonably priced too. I expected to pay more for a midnight fix. Would reccomend to everyone!

There is simply nobody better at what they do than Alex. We had only been living in Western Massachusetts a few weeks when everything started backing up with our kitchen sink and our washing machine on the other side of the house! Alex is just about the best plumber I have seen. He is reliable and kind, meaning that he doesnt treat me like I made some stupid mistake to be in this mess. Plumbing pipes were frozen in many homes after the extreme cold. He offered to come middle of the night after taking care of all the people who called before I did. I thought he shouldnt be working all night, so I asked him to come the next day. When he came he explained what caused the leak and repaired it. Also, he took the time to tell me what I could do in future to prevent such an accident. I am just glad I found a plumber I can trust.

I called them over the 4 th of July weekend about a water heater that was leaking, Alex answered all my questions over the phone offered a great new unit and beat the local competition by $1000. I needed a dishwasher installed and I called Alex on a Friday afternoon. He picked up the phone and we made arrangements for him to call my tenant. It was such a relief to talk to someone on the phone! It was such a relief that he followed through and called the tenant just like he said he would, and it was such a relief that the job got done the next day. Before I called Amherst Plumbing and Heating LLC, I had a hard time getting this installation done due to communication problems. I wish I had called this business in the first place, but I will definitely be calling them first next time. Alexander’s response to my leaking water heater was very rapid and professional.I was frantically trying to find a plumber on Memorial Day weekend and he arrived within a half hour,assessed the situation and within a few hours he installed a new water heater with a well placedshut off valve. He fixed my boiler that was leaking almost 3 gallons a day. I tried other companies before said they did NOT know what was really causing it and tried replacing parts and have audacity to charge me almost $700 of something that they did not fix. In addition to doing an outstanding job, Alex was someone that I felt comfortable having in my house, both in terms of the COVID-19 pandemic (he always wore a mask), and just the vibe of this is a trustworthy and kind person. He patiently answered questions, pointed out how things worked and how he was doing the job, and was a pleasant conversationalist all the while. We had a leaking shower upstairs. Through recommendation, we reached out to Alex. He dropped by on his way back from another job and quickly determined that it was due to an improperly sealed drain. The improperly sealed drain would leak only if the water backs up due to some partial clogging of the drainage system. He was able to reseal the drain and the leak is gone! He struck me as someone very trustworthy, professional and kind. He will no doubt be our go-to guy for plumbing and heating going forward!

Alex was wonderful! We had a leaking pipe in the kitchen, and even though he was fully booked for the day, he offered to come out after dinnertime and fix it.
