A+++, I highly recommend Central Cooling & Heating. I had to replace a HVAC split system in a condo in the Back Bay of Boston which was a well above average job in terms of complexity. Salesman Jonathan B was extremely proficient and professional and a pleasure to work with during the quote and unit selection process. The install team was extremely efficient and their team lead Jeff did an excellent job coordinating his crew to get a difficult job done in one day. I’ve worked with several contracting crews in the Back Bay for different trades and this company and team is absolutely amongst the best. I can’t say enough good things about them. We had a smooth experience with Central Cooling when they replaced our central air compressor and air handler! The salesperson gave us great advice, quotes for 3 different tiers of equipment, and didn’t oversell us on the most expensive one. We waited a year before we were able to do the work, and they were responsive when we reached back out. They got us on their calendar in a timely manner right when the heatwave struck, completed the work in a day, and left the areas they worked in better than they found them. The team who came out to install the system was responsive, communicative and efficient. Our house is cool again and we’re happy with the process, the price, and the final result!

Rafael was amazing at this very difficult install. Among other things, he had to install a new air handler in the tiniest of attic crawl spaces and there were all sorts of problems along the way because access to the space was far too small, and there was a glass stairway below it. Along with all the other equipment, it took him and his team two very long days but they did it. They also covered the stairway, hardwood floors, and put on booties every time a team member entered the house. They vacuumed and cleaned up beautifully both nights. Rafael and his team are welcome in our home anytime. It was a very tough job.

There are probably less expensive options out there, but I can’t imagine there is more effective service.

The people in the office are very responsive, well organized and easy to get a hold of. They are also very upfront with cost. Very prompt service. My oil furnace went out and they sent 2 technicians on the same day. They replaced parts and fixed it. The only part I wasn’t prepared for was the price— $1700. I hadn’t had routine service on the furnace in a few years, but I was still shocked at the total,, which included $169 to come out, $500+ for parts and $700+ labor.

When my old AC shut down a week ago, in the middle last week heat wave, I called Central Cooling, they were able to fit me in the next day and I was made aware of the home fee ($169) as well as the fact that each items to be replaced was subject to my written approval. In addition there was a fee of $576 for diagnostic. Familiar with appliance repairs I assumed that the fee covers diagnostic AND repair up to 1 or 2 hours.The repairman told me that I was living on borrowed time since the AC unit was 37 years old and that I should not invest in repairs but buy a new unit. Unfortunately the earliest date for a new unit was 2.5 to 3 weeks away and I had no AC at all and temperature of 84 to 89 degrees inside the house so I decided to go for repairs.Within 10 minutes he discovered the faulty capacitor in the condenser and told me that it was $350 for parts and labor ! I could not believe that a $40 capacitor would cost $350 for part AND labor in addition to the diagnostic fee. Overall, after another cap replacement in the fan and cleaning of the condenser coil, I top off at $1850 with a working AC unit but I was clearly furious and expressed it loudly.The next day I had a call with Central Cooling & Heating GM that explained the pricing structure and told me that he understood my frustration and offered to make me whole by applying the price of the repair to a new unit. I had a project manager coming 2 days later and I am on my way to a system.I strongly commend Rich Lavoie, the GM, for his reach and deal and I feel confident that the team with install very satisfactorily a new unit. I would still wish that repair pricing would be more transparent for the consumer.

Luc came to do tune up on our heat boiler; he did a great job; I didn’t know much about different part of the heating system like circulators, expansion tank; neutralizer, etc and Luc’s best was that he had the patience to explain how the system work; and what each part does. He also help check our new mini-split that we didn’t understand why it seem like the heat doesn’t running when it’s reach the degree we set. He helped check it quickly and explain how to use it ; and better not use the weekly scheduler. We really appreciate that and make us want to keep coming back to Central cooling. Ive used Central Cooling & Heating for both installations and service for years, and they have always been incredibly professional, thorough, and easy to work with.Today I had my regular service for my two propane furnaces and a whole home humidifier (which they had previously installed). He identified several areas of the furnace that needed some love, and even showed me the before and after pictures of the work he did. I think this company isnt always the cheapest option, but Ive found you get what you pay for in this case.Id also be remiss if I didnt mention that they folks they have manning the phones, both in sales and service, have been exemplary. They are always super helpful, polite, and you can rely on them getting back to you promptly if they say they will (something Ive found you cant always take for granted elsewhere).6/13 update: Roody came today to do the annual AC tuneup.
