    Update: Eight weeks later after the glowing review below, the heating system (or half of it) has failed, and Family HVAC is unable to give me an answer as to when it will be repaired, or if they are even able to. Marc states its a LG thing, like that is a satisfactory answer to our family that has paid $44K for a new heating system that has not been able to make it through its first cold month. Our house is now too cold on the 2nd floor for our 92-year old parent to say in, so we are relocating her, I hope temporarily. I am removing one star, and hope I can restore it shortly, rather than lower further. I will keep this posted, as this level of service seems critical to whether to recommend Family HVAC to others.Family just finished a big heat pump system in our old house and I believe did an excellent job (it really isnt cold enough right now to put the system to a test). The installation crew, led by Andy and Manny were professional, clean, polite, helpful and communicative. The electrician Jeff did us a solid by helping on a Mass Save form.Cory--the sales rep--was professional and thorough and wanted everything to go well. His explanation of the Mass Save rebate and financing wouldve been helped with a print-out of the process, relevant numbers, and the way the system works, but I may be asking for too much. He gave the usual $1000 discount if you close today spiel, which always makes me respect the process less, but it wasnt too heavy, and he applied it to a later bid revision, which I appreciated.All in all, I cant imagine a better or easier process on a major install, and I recommend without hesitation.

    Our dealings with family heating and cooling have always been professional and pleasant. Jacob Ribeiro came out this morning to service the heat pump. Professional and pleasant as we expected. . And we’ve asked that he come back to clean the mini splits.We did find the price to clean the mini spits outrageous. They guys were great. They explained everything. We did it in the slow season when it was less expensive. It wasn’t particularly difficult or time consuming.But it was pricey

    Best HVAC company around. Service was beyond exceptional. Jayden, Cameron, Alex were all hard working, polite, courteous, and patient with all my questions as I converted from an old space heater system to electric heat. Converting a 3 tenement house and it all moved like clock work. I was always updated with who was coming to my house next and what they were doing through texts. Certified on hand electrician for all electrical. Manny Lindo co-owner personally came to inspect finished work. I would recommend this company with a 10 star rating. You wont be disappointed, very reasonable priced and Justin co owner will help you with all the rebates and financing offered by mass saves programs. Call now before the rebate programs go away.

    I cannot recommend Family Heating & Cooling highly enough! We recently had a mini-split system installed and the entire experience from assessment to install was smooth and stress-free.Cory took the time to answer all my questions and fully explained the entire process from start to finish. Cameron and Kyle performed the installation; they were punctual, professional, and courteous. We felt very comfortable having them in our home. Josh handled the electrical work making sure everything was safe and up to code.I really appreciated the text messages received prior to their arrival. The message included a picture of the team member along with a quick bio, which was a nice touch.We felt that the pricing was fair and transparent.     Family Heating & Cooling is amazing. From start to finish we would recommend them to everyone. The initial meeting with Corey, the multiple changes and questions we had they were patient and professional. The walk through prior to installation day, installation day(s) everyone was polite, explained what they were doing, conducted professional conversations while on the job site, cleaned up each day and then the final walk through Manny was excellent explaining all the ins & outs of the units. We did mini splits on our first floor and ducting on the second floor. Install was over a year ago and we have been nothing but happy. We have had them come back for the 1 year service and we decided to join one of the programs they offered for annual service.     Proficient and professional..Had them install a mini split system in the summer. They did such a great job that I had them return for a new 2 zone boiler.     First time using the company after hearing good reviews. Justin from Family Heating and Cooling just spent an afternoon evaluating all 5 of my 20-year-old AC units trying to diagnose my poor system performance. He thoroughly explained what the possible problems could be and patiently answered my many questions. He was very upfront about costs and didn’t try to upsell me. I liked the service enough that I actually signed up for their annual contract, which at $750-800/yr isn’t cheap but will hopefully save me money in the long run given the age and condition of my units.UPDATE 12 DEC 2024: So the Family team just finished installation of one Bosch heat pump, duct modification with two new zone dampers requiring a zone control board, and two Ecobee smart thermostats for two zones upstairs of my house, all of this after Aerosealing my 20-year-old duct system. Cameron and Noah did most of the work initially and were knowledgeable, hard-working, and professional throughout. Jeff had to do some electrical modification one morning and also did a fine job. Manny, Andrew, and several other team members had to get involved at times to help out, especially on the last day when they Aerosealed my ducts, an involved process that took nearly one entire day to complete.The day after installation, my new system didnt work well at all that first weekend, unfortunately (and I received warning emails from Ecobee saying my thermostats detected a problem, which was interesting). So I contacted Justin and Cameron on a Sunday to explain my problem, and to Familys credit Spencer and Dylan were sent out promptly the following day on Monday to diagnose my problem (they determined I didnt have enough charge (refrigerant) in my lineset) and fix it (by adding more refrigerant). My two-zone system with duct dampers controlling airflow is now working properly, with both zones heating appropriately when called for (although somewhat slower than the gas boiler with hydrocoils that were removed, which Ive learned is normal with heat pumps).My project wasnt cheap, but Justin (the owner) gave me a firm price quote up front with everything detailed. They are a totally professional team and in the end did a great job that my wife and I are happy with. I will very likely being calling the Family team again in the coming months to upgrade the HVAC in the other part of my house not covered with this project.

    We chose Family Heating, Cooling, & Electric to upgrade our ancient HVAC system to an electric heating/cooling system after we had a great first experience with Jake, who came out for an emergency call after hours in the middle of a heatwave to get the air back on. From that first meeting, we’ve had nothing but positive and professional interactions. Ultimately, we elected to go full electric, removing our A/C and oil furnace/water heater and replacing it with a new electric heat/cooling pump and electric water tank system. Justin, Jaydon, Manny, Jeff, Cameron, Noah, Andrew - all amazing, professional, and informative. And thank you to the guys working in the pouring rain on day #2 to get the project done on schedule!

    Last year I asked 6 companies to come advise me and bid on replacing my heating and cooling systems which included an oil burning furnace from 1964, a slightly newer gas furnace, and an ancient not-working ac unit. I got such wildly different and conflicting proposals and bids, I put the project on hold for a full year. On the recommendation of 2 friends (2 different homes), I tried Family HVAC. To say it was the answer to my prayers is almost an understatement. They explained the entire MassSave program and developed an estimate for replacing my systems with heat pumps and splits. They completely explained the entire assessment, proposal, and estimate to me. They helped me determine the rebate for which I would be eligible, the federal tax credit, and how to get the no interest loan for the balance of the project. They showed up on time on the stated start date with credentials, materials, and experienced staff. For the entire installation (which took several days), I was kept abreast of the progress, any proposed changes were fully discussed and my approval was given before they proceeded (and they suggested some very good changes), and they did things like let me know there was a little hole in my rubber roof, and took away my old ac compressor and some duct work in the basement. And they did all this in a record-breaking, soul-crushing heatwave and 1 day of pouring rain. On a scale of 1-10, the onsite project manager, Andy Reposa, was a 15 - honestly they should clone him and I cant overstate his friendliness, knowledge, and professionalism. I also appreciated the efforts of Jeff Foster, who helped figure out some weird issues to make the system work in an old 1907 house. Also a shout out to Cory Carvalho who did the initial design and estimate and calmed my fears by painstakingly explaining the system and answering my questions in order to go forward. One month post-installation (and another heatwave), we are extremely happy with the system and havent had any issues. I cant comment about how well the system heats yet, but if its as good as the cooling, we will be happy. Electric bills are higher, but we expected that. Overall, I highly recommend this company - Id give them 6 stars if it were an option.

    I am new to the area and wanted to have my heating system checked before winter and the gentleman along with his apprentice were fast, efficient and knowledgeable. They changed the filters, tested for carbon monoxide levels and went over everything with me.I’m definitely going to be having them back to work on my central air next. Only two demerits: I asked for a technician familiar with this house, as the system was installed only one year ago. Jacob has never been here, so I shared what I knew and he answered most of my questions. Second is the fee for periodic maintenance; much higher than expected. Likely we will subscribe until we determine if we can do it ourselves or find a provider who will do it for less. Thank you.

    This company was referred to me and we couldnt be more satisfied. I was skeptical about the Mass Save rebates but Family did all the heavy lifting and walked us through the entire process, They were thorough, polite, clean and extremely communicative. I never heard a word about problems, only solutions. Its the little things that make all the difference. One example is that when running a new circuit for the heat pump, rather than doing the easy thing and removing the old circuit for the furnace, the electrician added an outlet on the outside of the garage for added convenience. Just a great bunch of people to work with. The install only took one day but it turned out to be a long one, and on a Friday but never was there a single complaint and they wrapped up perfectly regardless of time. Walked me through how to operate the new unit step by step, left me contact info for questions/concerns and cleaned the entire work space. Honestly-it was like having Christmas elves deliver a new heating system! I would recommend them without hesitation. Awesome experience.

    We had to have a new heating and A/C system put in unexpectedly in May. We were in a time crunch for renters to start coming(very stressful time). Cory helped us and walked us through the entire process. It took two days to install the new heat pump and a/c but also they put in a split in our back room. They cleaned up after themselves and were very professional.We had recently had new renters in and they sent me an email message about the a/c not working. This email was on July 3 @ 2:30pm. I was in full panic mode. That time? The day before a holiday? Cory was able to get a service tech out there before we even arrived. CRAZY!     We had our mini split units installed May 9th & 10 of this year. The reason for the delay of this review. We wanted to get through a heat wave. The system passed with flying colors. Awesome!!! Justin (The owner) was very knowledgeable and helped us along the way with certain saving benefits and took care of everything.     5 Stars - Part 1: I cant speak to any completed services from Family Heat and Cooling (yet)... but based on a couple of hours with Cory and Paul for a super informative look at my furnace, and an exploratory trip around my house for the possible installation of mini-splits, I CAN say I would trust these guys with just about anything. They were refreshingly straight forward, very knowledgable, collaborative, fun, and friendly. It was clear they love their work in this family/friends-run business. And on top of all that, they had logo-iced dog biscuits that took my pups taste buds to places shes never been :)

    Family Heating and Cooling is excellent -- they retrofitted our old 1917 house from oil-fired steam boiler to a fully-ducted VRF heat pump serving 3 stories. They were professional, polite, informed us at every step, gave options, adjusted things around other contractors and plans without complaint, worked with us regarding rebates and the MassSave heat loan, all at a very fair cost and fit us in the schedule in time for winter!     When my central AC died end of last summer an electrician friend recommended Family. Very professional in evaluating my needs and i washappy with their recommendations.     WOW I LOVE FAMILY HEATING AND COOLING. These people were awesome from start to finish. I called to have them provide me a quote to install an entirely new heating and cooling system. I live in an old home that previously had a cast iron boiler system that was aging and I had no central air. Justin scheduled a visit promptly and gave me some suggestions on what I could do to change it. He designed me an entirely new ducted heating and cooling system and gave me a very reasonable price. I scheduled the work ASAP and they showed up exactly when they said they would and completed the job on time! Kyle, Davey, Paul and Cameron did my install and were all extremely professional, courteous and a pleasure to work with. When everything was done, Justin and Manny came by to make sure I was happy and really made me feel like FAMILY lol. Please contact them for any of your heating or cooling needs.     We moved into our house in March of 2022 and immediately noticed that the forced air heat did not work well in the upstairs zone. This issue continued into the summer with the AC blasting the downstairs zone and basically no flow upstairs. In August Paul Santo of Family came out and determined two items, one is that the dampers for both zones needed to be replaced and the other was that the ducting was of an age that the duct tape used to seal the system was dried out and needed to be replaced throughout the system. Replacing the dampers was straightforward but retaping can be difficult, time consuming and expensive. He suggested looking at the Aeroseal product, a new technology, which seals the ducting from the inside using non-toxic products. After doing some research we agreed to do the Aeroseal and damper replacement. The team of Coleen, Cameron and Paul came and in one day completed the work. Yes, I did take the cat out of the house for the day but it was a very clean, non-messy process. I can now say that with the winter almost over, that the Aeroseal process/product does work and that the Family team did a great job. I expect the effectiveness to continue with the switch from heat to AC during the summer. Highly recommended!

    Family HVAC replaced my ac-only ducted system to accomodate a highly effecient heat pump system (both heats/cools). They helped me navigate a significant rebate and 72 month 0% finance through Massave/Clearesult program. Vicky in the office, Justin (the owner) and the two Kyles (install crew) were all super professional. We appreciated Justins follow up after work was completed to make sure we were comfortable and trained on how to best use/optimize the system. It seems we are already saving on oil$. Their quote and work scope was clear, and they provided the best/fairest cost I could find. Their work was timely, and they took all covid precautions (work was done in August 2020). I have found my forever HVAC professionals. I will be signing them up for a service contract.     Very personable and professional. They installed a central A/C system in new construction for me on short notice as I had another company lined up where the owner ended up getting very sick and could not do the job. I told Family Heating my sob story and they got the job done for me on time and for a decent price. When they came back to start up the system after electrical was all set, he literally put white shoe covers over his shoes to not ruin the new floors. I can say at the very least, I was impressed. Like the first sentence says, personable and professional.
