MLJ was a pleasure to work with. They got the job done when another contractor could not. Juliana was always responsive and typically easy to get a hold of.One part of our experience that could have gone smoother was obtaining permits. Some miscommunication slowed things down. Other than that, our experience was as good as we could have asked for.If you are contemplating working with MLJ and another contractor, choose MLJ, They wont let you down and will see your project through.

Ellison at MLJ installed a new door for me in a room that had a curved entryway with no door. They called during the job to ask if Id like the molding to line up with the adjacent room and went the extra mile to shave the new door such that it would fit and line up more aestheticly with the neighboring door. This wasnt discussed in the estimate and I appreciated them going the extra mile to make sure it was done correctly and within the cost of the job. Ellison is friendly and professional to communicate with, I enjoyed our interactions. There was a small part of the job that didnt get completed due to a miscommunication on my part and he sent someone right away to come back and complete the job the next day. Overall it was a great experience and I will definitely use MLJ again in the future.

I cant say enough good things about our experience with MLJ Contractors! They worked very closely with us from the beginning of our patio project (initial design, permit procurement, scheduling, determining costs, etc.), to finish (final details, working with town inspector, cleanup, etc.). Julianna and her assistant Bianca, were a pleasure to work with, communicating with us on a regular basis, keeping us updated on progress, and answering all of or questions promptly. Laurenco, the project foreman, was extremely approachable and did a great job keeping his team on task, and on schedule, throughout the project. The gentlemen that did the actual work are true craftsmen! The overall quality of their work is of the highest quality, right down to the smallest details. I look forward to working with Julianna and her crew again in the future for other home improvement projects. A+++

MLJ completed a major renovation on our house throughout the summer/fall of 2023 in Reading, MA. They completely remodeled our 1st floor - including moving the kitchen and a bathroom - and created an addition on the 2nd floor with a brand new bathroom. We love the project and are thrilled with the work that they did. They have even returned to the house since the project’s completion to resolve a couple of minor issues.One of the reasons that we chose to work with MLJ was because from the very 1st consult/site visit, Julliana & Lourenco brought their expertise and insight making suggestions that were creative and insightful. Several of these suggestions we ultimately did utilize in the project. They made it clear that they were willing to take the renovation in any direction we wanted and were always able to find solutions to the ideas we presented and for the problems that presented themselves. Their pricing was clear and inclusive (it was also one of the least expense quotes we got!) and even though there aspects of the renovation that ended up being more costly than either of us had anticipated, MLJ did not pass those costs on to us. Unbelievably for a project of this scale, our final cost was exactly what they quoted.Everyone working for MLJ is a craftsman and a professional. Their team knows how to work quickly and efficiently and are always willing to take suggestions/instructions and accommodate. Because of an issue that stemmed from permitting, our project got off to a late start and we had to move back into the house before it was complete. MLJ accommodated us, spending extra time cleaning each day before they left and adjusted the sequence of where they were working so that we could have living space in the house when we needed it. I don’t think that many other companies would have done this as completely.As with any new business working in new towns and on larger projects, there were some hiccups along the way. For example, the permitting process was slow and challenging. But, I believe that our project forced MLJ to adapt and I doubt that there will be issues in the future on other projects. They have better partners now and I know that they have efficiently obtained other permits in Reading since our experience.MLJ is a great company for anyone looking for a partner in their next home project or renovation and I strongly recommend them as a contractor. We were very involved throughout the process making decisions and purchases and directing workflow and details - and they were willing to work with us in that way. I also have no doubt that they could take your project from start to finish in a more inclusive way if that is the type of project you are looking for.

MLJ was terrific -- they replaced a ceiling, installed flooring and recessed lighting, and painted a number of rooms. They were incredibly accommodating -- from planning the painting schedule around our schedules, to switching up the timeline when some of (our) materials were delayed. Julianna ensured great communication, and the team did a fantastic job. Highly recommend them.

The quality of work was great, and they worked with my schedule to get everything completed. I highly recommend them and will continue to use them for our projects.

This company exceeded our expectations. From the initial callback after we sent them a website message, to the completion of the job, everyone was professional, efficient and very hard working. This was a relatively small job (4 days), but the results were better than we had hoped for. Julliana took care of administrative matters and kept us updated and informed. Laurenco and Carlos arrived at the agreed-upon time to review and estimate the job, as well as oversaw the work as it progressed. Marcio and Kenedi did the majority of the work, and were thorough, industrious and neat. To top it off, all of them were friendly and pleasant. Also, the price seemed quite reasonable. It is too bad that reality has conditioned us to be surprised when a company acts in such a professional and businesslike manner. But, we are very glad that this one does! We would definitely use them again.

We had a great experience working with MLJ General Contractors. The project manager and all workers were very professional and responsive to our ideas and needs when designing and completing our project. We appreciate their work and guidance through the licensing process, which would have taken much longer without them! At every turn we were told, Tell us how you want it. That was the best thing to hear. Communication was good, the work was done in a timely manner and we are very satisfied with the final product.
