I called Rich for a boiler inspection, and he ended up needing to make some repairs. He was extremely responsive, charged a fair price, and went above and beyond when the work turned out to be more complex than originally thought. He also took the time to walk me through the repairs he was making and how to perform some basic maintenance myself. I highly recommend working with him! -

Every time I have called Rich for any plumbing issues, he has picked up the phone on the first call.Last year was the first time I have had to call around to find a plumber for a heating issue. Between other plumbers not picking up their phones or just not showing up, it is refreshing to find a plumber who cares and picks up on the first ring.I was able to facetime with Rich so that he could see what was wrong with the piping in my heating system (they were corroding).Rich easily deserves 5 stars for being professional and responsive.Thank you for always answering my call for help. My water heater gave out at midnight last night. I was at a loss of who to contact for help. Rich Mathews was the first site to come up in my google search and I am so glad it did. He had great reviews and was local. I called right away and his wife was so nice and very helpful, Rich called back in 5 minutes, we had a Face Time chat so he could see the area. He gave me a very reasonable price over the phone and within 30 minutes he and his wife were in my driveway with a new water heater. What a great guy and great company and great couple. His work is impeccable, they cleaned up after themselves and even gave me a couple of recommendations for some good restaurants. All in all a lovely couple and ultimate professionals that take pride in their work. I will recommend Rich Mathews and Sons to all of my family and friends. Rich is a Master plumber and a great person to work with. He is responsive, professional and competitively priced. What really stands out: the high quality of his work and his genuine personality. He makes certain that you understand the process and is just nice to talk to. He makes certain that everything is taken care of on site and then follows up with you afterward. He is clearly passionate about his work and cares about his clients. I will definitely call him the next time I need a plumber! -

I found Rich on Angies List and gave him a call because the reviews he had were so good. I left him a message and he called me right back and we made an appointment for later that evening. Rich was there on time and was extremely nice and informative on my extremely old boiler system, water heater and the oil to gas conversion that was going to take place. Rich then sent me a quote in the mail which wasnt the cheapest but far from the most expensive that I had received and we decided that he was the best guy for the job. Prior to starting the job my husband and I noticed that one of our radiators started leaking and another was extremely loud. Therefore, I called Rich and he came out within a half hour and remedied the problem. When he came to start the job he was always dependable and willing to answer any questions. Rich was so personable that my husband and I looked forward to getting home and having small talk with him. One Saturday he came to do some work and brought my husband and I some AMAZING scones that he gets from one of his other clients and let me just say, they were to DIE for. How many people can say that they got breakfast from their plumber and above that enjoyed having them around?! As far as Richs work is concerned, the boiler and water heater came out beautifully, when you have steam heat it truly is an art form and Rich is quite the artist. Our basement was literally cleaner when he left then it was when he came in. Needless to say, Rich will be the guy I call with all my plumbing issues. -

We found Rich when we were looking to replace our ancient oil heating with a natural gas system.He was responsive when providing quotes, competitively priced and was happy to answer any questions we had related to the process. He is fully certified as a master plumber and his workmanship showed on the job. He helped us with processing the HEAT loan from MassSave and provided quick service even considering the impacts of COVID-19. He was professional on-site and was always sure to maintain distancing and wore a mask.He was friendly and gave us updates on the work he was doing and why he was doing it. Our house is fairly old and had amateur work done by the previous owner and he took it upon himself to clean up several fittings and went above and beyond what was asked of him at no charge.Overall, an excellent experience and wed happily use his services again. Highly recommended. -

Rich Matthews installed an indirect water heater in our home, and the overall experience has been super-positive. He took the time to explain how indirect heating systems works, the pros and cons of other types of water heating systems, and helped us identify the best solution for our home. The first “visit” was virtual, via FaceTime, and he surveyed the existing setup with a lot of attention to detail before proposing how to proceed. He came over the next day to prep / setup, and the day after installed the heater! He is very professional, super organized, excellent communicator, has great attention to detail, followed covid-safety protocols. This has been a very positive experience. I highly recommend Rich, and hope to hire his company in the future. Thank you! -

Rich is a consummate professional. He completed an oil-to-gas conversion for us when our oil boiler failed. He thoroughly explained the process to us and was present throughout the process when other contractors needed to be involved. Rich was communicative throughout the process and considerate of our needs. He ensured that we were not without hot water throughout the furnace transition process and worked around our family schedules. We are very pleased with the final set up and are very grateful to Rich and Lori for their guidance, kindness, and conscientiousness throughout the project.
