We are very satisfied with the service we received. I can’t remember the original person I spoke with, but she relayed the message to the proper people. Thank you! It did take a couple of days for them to reach out to me, but they did reach out. An installer was able to come out to our house the same day that I talked with the service department and fixed our problem. Mike was our installer and Richard was the one we worked with in the service department. Thank you for the great service. We are considering switching to this company for our solar needs.

Steel City Solar moved our panels from the roof to a ground mount array. After the hail storm in Pueblo West last year we decided to move our system off the roof to a ground mount, the panels had to be removed for the re-roof. The change to a ground mount will drive more power production and even more efficiency of the system that drives our entire home year around. The quality of the work was great, the Steel City Team was polite, and ensured our satisfaction. I would recommend this team without hesitation, great local company.

This company has been wonderful working with. We had a miscommunication in the beginning and theyve done everything they could to make it right, and they actually went above and beyond what they needed to do. I agree that Ive been a hassle customer and they treated me like Ive always been a repeat customer. Their prices are much more reasonable than other solar companies and the staff are professional and keep up with communication. They make sure to keep the customer up to date during the install, which for me was an inverter install, which makes it feel like I dont have any surprises. Plus he showed me how the new inverter works and what to look for. Definitely recommend this company for any solar needs.

The entire experience with Steel City has been great. We had our panels and a whole home fan installed in April of this year and from Dan in sales to the installers to the follow up from customer service, everyone has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Not to mention the savings on our electric bill. We also recently found a leak that was caused during installation and a crew was out the next day to investigate. They couldnt find the issue initially, but made it a personal cause of theirs to come back multiple times until the leak was found and fixed.The ability to have a local company that offers such great service is greatly appreciated. Id recommend Steel City Solar to anyone who would listen.

I just wanted to take a minute and let everyone know that I was very pleased and impressed with this team that came out to the house to do the install. They worked very hard to install 22 panels in a single day. The electrician, Parker Holman and the foreman (don’t remember his name) were excellent, always keeping me appraised of their progress. Steel City Solar went above and beyond. Their crews were all very friendly, nice, and professional. (Not to mention extremely patient with Sunpower) I highly recommend this company.I have Sunpower panels installed by a company that went out of business. I noticed my system wasnt working properly when my bill from Black Hills Energy went from $10/month to $150/month. I struggled for months trying to find a contractor that was approved by Sunpower to work on my system that was still under warranty. The company listed on Sunpowers website was in Colorado Springs and they didnt even get back to me for 2 MONTHS.I started calling around and was referred to Steel City Solar thank goodness. They scheduled me in right away! Nate was always so friendly and helpful. Richard came out to assess my system and determined that my microinverters were bad as well as my communication system. They ordered all the parts and scheduled the install. During the install the crew noticed my system wasnt wired properly. The previous company had wired them in series, which meant that if the panel/inverter at the beginning of the string went out, all 9 of my panels would stop functioning. They also realized there was no actual ground installed. All of this was repaired. Unfortunately 6 of the micro inverters that Sunpower sent them did not work. Steel City Solar spent SO much time jumping through hoops with Sunpower to have them send out new inverters. I felt bad for the amount of time they had to sit on the phone wasting time when they told them from the very beginning what the problem was. In the end my system is fully functional and better than original.Thank you Steel City!

Extremely impressed with the quality of work from Steel City Solar. This team was a pleasure to work with.Dan the Sales Director assessed our current power needs plus room for growth without going over our budget. We did not want to have a power bill. Dan did the math and set it up to where we would break even on our power bill given our amount of solar intake. The new meter needed was on back order so, the job took 2 weeks longer than initially planned which caused us to have 2 power bills(San Isabel power bill and Steel City Solar equipment fee) in the month of December. Steel City Solar paid our San Isabel bill to honor the initial agreement of no overlap on bills.Nate is competent and fielded any mechanical or work scope question I had with 100% confidence. He coordinated the maintenance guys who were very professional and showed up in single digit temps ready to work. They also helped us do non-solar projects in our shop; installed lights, ran electric to my office and re-wiring to meet safety standards. The journeymen service techs knew the job AND the job scope without me having to bird-dog. I didn’t feel like my house was under construction.Rachael in customer service was an integral part and facilitated communication between departments to address our needs.Highly recommend. Why is everyone not doing this. Solar is a no-brainer. Once we’re done paying off the equipment they financed me for, I won’t have a single power bill. Zero $ down and my monthly payment is what my old San Isabel power bill was anyways.

The installers obviously had much experience and did a great job getting the system up. The office staff was friendly and efficient and able to answer all our questions when they came up. We talked to and priced with multiple companies before settling on Steel City because they offered the best deal and local customer service, and we have not been disappointed or second-guessed our decision once. They are simply great!

I had a grid tie solar system installed on my house about 12 years ago. My roof suffered some storm damage so the solar system needed to be removed and then reinstalled after a new roof was put on. The crew from Steel City Solar did a great job! They were friendly, professional, and took the time to do things right. Kudos to the office staff also. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! If you are looking for an honest, hassle free, affordable solar install team with integrity, Steel City Solar is the company you want. After having the absolute worst experience with another solar company in Pueblo the guys at Steel City Solar reinstilled my faith in solar and I couldn’t be happier. We got the same size system (19.62kw system) with top of the line panels and an attic fan for $20,000 less than the other company. The best part is they communicated every step of the way, passed all inspections first try, and followed through with everything they said. I’m all about ACTIONS over promises and they are as well. From the owners, to the office staff, to the install teams....Trust me when I say they are the BEST!!!! You won’t regret your decision to get your solar system installed with them.

I spent two weeks dealing with several solar companies (local, in and out of the state). Steel City Solar was the best in price and best in customer service. Jim B (owner), Dan B. (Sales Director), office staff and installation crew, all these guys are running a very impressive operation. From the time that I called the office to setup an initial consultation, quote, installation and commissioning of the system, I only received great and timely customer service and now I’m smiling at my first electric bill……… :)

We had a ground based system installed a few months ago. Everything has worked as promised. Our electric bill is $9.62 a month (Black Hills charge to have electricity). The customer service (notably Matt and Rachel) were excellent. My only complaint was the landscaping work to repair all of the trenching, etc. I had to stop their landscaping crew halfway through and redo all of the work and finish the job myself. Steel City Solar did provide the rock and fabric and a $50 gift card, but the 15 hours of labor was frustrating.

Disclosure: I do not normally write a review. These guys require one. Earlier in 2020, when the virus was keeping everyone at home, we got serious about solar for our University park home. After due diligence, including speaking with one of the reviewers, we knew what kind of panels we wanted (made in USA), and wanted to stay as local as possible. We contacted 3 vendor/installers, got prices and recommendations, and went with Steel City Solar. Pricing was very competitive. Sales (Dan) was transparent in his approach, and, now installed, we can say fully honest.Timing went faster than promised. These folks under promise and over produce. Install, even with an owner caused change, was flawless. Inspection and metering occurred within days. Our first bill, covering the hottest month of the year (July), saw us within a dollar of even, with running AC a lot! Unquestionably, we will be banking year to year.Very honestly, we can say we are totally impressed with this local company. They function at all levels as a well oiled team, are very friendly and have been fully responsive so far. On site guys, especially Fabian, office staff, everyone I had contact with knew what they were doing, and got the job done. Great to have a local company, with one point of contact, that can be trusted to do as or better than they say. Go solar, go local!

I purchased a Sunpower system through Matt Moody in August of 2018. My system is a two inverter sixty four panel system and it is the best investment I have ever made. It produces all the power I need and Black Hills Energy send me a check for the overproduction once a year (I got a small check in January after only having the system functioning for four months). My regular electric bills with Black Hills averaged almost $400 a month before I got the system and my payments (12 year loan) for the solar are fixed at $330 a month and I will pay nothing for electricity when I get my system paid for. People tell me all the time that it will be years before I really see any benefit. That is total BS. First thing is that my electricity bill each month is less that I was paying for service from the power company (immediate benefit). Second, the system increases the equity in my home by more than the system costs. Third, if I ever sell my house I can get more for it even after paying of the system than I would have without it. Most people do not have the need for a 64 panel system (I have a 6,000 sf home with a 40x80 barn that I need power for. The average residential system is less that 30 panels and those friends of mine who have smaller systems only financed them for 5 to 7 years and are paying less each month for electricity than they did for the power company. I have two friends, a brother and a niece what have also purchased a Sun Power system through Matt and they have the same enthusiasm I have for it. Best decision I have ever made.

My wife and I made a commitment to do what we could to reduce our impact on the environment. That’s the main reason we decided to look into putting solar panels on our house. After doing a ton of research on home solar and getting bids from 5 different companies, we decided to go with SteelCity Solar. There were several factors we considered in our decision, with the cost per KW, and the 25 year loss in efficiency being the prime factors. Steel City’s proposal included SolarEdge inverter and optimizers with SunPower panels. My research told me these components were in the top 5 for efficiency, 25 year minimal loss, and warranties. While their cost was not the least expensive, they provided the best value based on my criteria.Now I have to say that having a system installed during the winter months is not without it’s difficulties! That said, we worked through this together and, while installation was verbally promised to happen before the end of December, the weather finally cooperated enough to complete in early March. The electric company took about 10 days from final inspection to replace the meter with a net-meter, allowing me to turn on the system.Everyone I worked with from Steel City Solar - from the initial sales rep, Dan Barborich, to the scheduling person, Regina, the accounting person, Ashley, all of the installers, and Dave from technical support - were very professional, competent, attentive, and excellent to work with.

Professional all the way around.. From sales to electricians to installers. We went through San Isabel who made all the arrangement with Steel City Solar. We got 10 320watt panels with a 5k inverter by Solar Edge in the spring of 2020. ($11.500). I would recommend a ground mount because it has been easy to clean and faces in the right direction and at the right angle to the sun... Now we are getting additional panels being that we have bought an EV and need to expand. Thank you Steel City Solar!

After talking to a few solar companies, we decided to stay local and go with Steel City Solar, who also gave us the best deal. They recently installed our system and everyone involved, from the salesman, the office staff, the installation crew, electricians and QC guy were super friendly, helpful and nothing short of professional! (Sorry, names escape me at the moment.) Installation was fast and only took two days- roof panels on the first, then the electricians did their job the second. Now were just waiting for Black Hills to do their part and install the meter and flip the switch.

Had a terrible experience when I used big dog solar to do my solar installation. Everything from blowing sparks across my house to them forgetting to get a building permit prior to putting the panels on the roof. I have since had steel city solar help me fix all the problems that was caused by big dog solar and let me tell you what if you know anyone looking to go solar these guys are the guys you want to go with. Extremely respectful and do such amazing work. Will never recommened anyone besides them and they will always be the only company I use for all my solar needs in the future.
