So grateful to Peter for coming out so quickly to asses a pipe break in our home. He spoke with my husband and was so helpful and kind and lovely and we surely know now that we couldn’t find anyone better. Will update after the work has been done but our experience from the first call to the assessment and scheduling of work and the fairness of the cost has been an ENORMOUS relief and a HUGE help in a stressful time. We’re deeply grateful.Update— the work done was *INCREDIBLE*. They came exactly on time, worked with the city to shut down the street and redirect traffic, had the road and sidewalk torn up in record time, and replaced the pipes and put it all back together (re-paved and everything) all within six hours of a seven am start. I think we actually had water back on a mere four hours after they began their major repair work. They were kind, so fast, so professional and capable… they saved our skins!! We are beyond impressed with the work done. Truly cannot recommend anyone more.

When our heat wouldnt come on and there was a funny smell in the house, Peter came out immediately to be sure we were safe. He was terrific in explaining the problem and our options.Technicians Stephen and Eydin came to our house in Nahant that Saturday and installed a new furnace. They showed up exactly when they said they would, were friendly, efficient, and did excellent work, including cleaning up the area when they were done. A great job all around! Spencer Home Services is a first rate company. We did a full home renovation in 2017, but the cast iron sewer pipe was left untouched. Flash forward to early 2024, and we started having issues with clogs and back ups in our basement. Rich came out to our house to review my options, including a trenchless pipe repair technology. I tried to hold off, but by November ‘24 it was clear we had to proceed. Rich and a team of Oscar, Cesar, Brian, Bryan, Paul, and Julio did the work, including fixing a pipe connection, installing the liner, and installing an access point/clean out ~100 feet from the house. They coordinated with the town inspector, and all of the work was excellent. I’d highly recommend this company.

I needed to route a sump pump discharge to a storm drain in the street so I called Spencer Home Services. Last night on NYE, I got home to my wife trying to give our daughter a bath and having no hot water. I was looking on YouTube trying to figure out what was going on with the water heater. I googled plumbers in the area and found Spencer. I called the number and got ahold of Pete. At 7 PM on New Years Eve, he was willing to help and talk me through this over the phone. We have some other plumbing issues that need to be addressed and after talking with Pete, I have a feeling of relief, knowing that we’ve found our guy. Thanks so much Pete!

I found water seeping onto a slab foundation from our 50 gallon water heater late Wednesday afternoon. This could have caused major damage to flooring and furniture.Made a call to Spencer Home Services, and they had a technician out to evaluate and make the tank replacement by 8:30 the next morning.Reese, the technician not only replaced the tank with no water damage to the house, but relocated it to an adjacent closet to gain storage space. Two other plumbers had told me on previous occasions that this could not be done at reasonable expense.I found Reese to be exceptionally qualified, organized and easy to communicate with.This company is highly recommended, and I am planning to have them upgrade a bathroom in the near future.

Highly recommend! Had a great experience with Oscar H, Cesar V, and Bryan S. I had a water pit form in my basement that turned out to be sewer water from a leaking old sewer line. I contacted several companies, and was struggling to get reasonable quotes and response times. This company came the next day after I called, scoped the line, quoted the full project up front (which no one else was willing to do), and returned five days later to remove my house-trap and re-line my main sewer line. They discovered a 3 pipe repair from the former owners in the middle of the work day that they had to excavate and replace with PVC. They dug a six foot long trench and stayed until 9pm until they could restore our service and repair my basement floor. They charged an extra 6% to do the extra work, which seems very reasonable.

Jesse and Molly were professional and courteous. The explanation of the service and work was thorough. The job, a kitchen sink drain replacement, was very well done in about an hour. I am very satisfied with my experience with Spencer Home Services. As a suggestion, I think a more detailed invoice of parts and labor would be a good idea. I would use Spencer again.

Towards the end of June we had very high temperatures at my location. My old air conditioning system failed so I was desperately looking for someone to solve my problem with heat in the house.After calling several places I located Spencer heating and cooling and they set up an appointment to visit me towards the last week in June. Mr Drew Farrell from Spencer came to my place and we had a long talk about it the heating and cooling systems that they sell. I decided on a heat pump cooling system that seemed to match the needs of my house. Mr Drew Farrell was very professional and courteous he was also very informative even though he did admit hes been working for the company a short time.On Thursday the 28th of June the company came over with the equipment and started the installation the workers were very polite and also were very good at their job. They were very meticulous in making sure they cleaned up after themselves. I used to work for a company selling very large equipment so I know what its like to deal with insulation of equipment in a building. These people knew their job and did it very well.The only issue that came up after installation was that I noticed no water coming out of the condensation draining pipe from the air conditioning system on the unit outside the house. Normally the water flows from the condensing unit inside the house through a pipe across the attic and down to the outside of the house to be drained away. In this case there was no water coming out of the pipe and the humidity was real high. The air conditioning system seem to still be working fine but I was concerned about the water coming out of that drainage pipe.After calling them they quickly came out went back up to the system in the attic and looked everything over. They found that somehow during the installation the drainage pipe got pulled apart and was just laying there open in the Attic. All the water was draining into the insulation in the Attic which was not enough to do any damage but in a period of time would have.In summation Spencer company did a very professional job in installing this heating / cooling system. They were very meticulous and how they cleaned up everything after they finish their job. They were courteous and polite. If anybody needs a trustworthy organization to install their heating air conditioning needs Spencer is what I would suggest.David Robertson

Molly is polite and skilled professional. She came, saw the problem, diagnosed the plumbing issue and systematically resolved it! She did her work very confidently and yet remained humble, a common thread among all Spencer folks! The work was supposed to be messy because it involved cutting the ceiling with water drips from the pipe but I was amazed to find the place so clean after the work was done, as if no work was done (but the work was done very nicely, proof was in front of me!). Spencer is the way to go!

Was referred to Spencer by my plumber for more complicated plumbing work. Two techs arrived to assess the situation, they asked a lot of questions, and emailed me back an estimate that was clear and easy to read. Job day they showed up early with 4 workers and magically fixed my main drain and pitch problems. It was a big job for them, they persevered and finished same day. Subsequently hired them for an excavation job, they were clean, prompt and pro. Knowledgeable team, hard working group of people. I highly recommend them. They do carpentry, plumbing, and all sorts of things.

Had an emergency situation we thought we fixed right before the Labor Day holiday but needed one more layer of support of a seasoned plumber! Went with Spencer because of the breadth of services they offer, and I wasnt sure what the real issue was except for water in the basement. They took my call at 8:30 PM and had Reese and Drew out first thing in the morning, earlier than the time they said. Reese had the skills and knowledge to figure out the problem and fix it same day! Right before we were about to leave town, what a blessing! Could not recommend them more. Will work with them on other projects in the future. My ac stopped working several times this summer and needed to be recharged each time. My original installer did not find the leak and wanted a considerable sum of money to search. I called Spencer and they sent an excellent technician out the same day; he searched for the leak and found it in less than two hours. Spencer then used the nameplate on the existing unit to find us a replacement unit, and it came in within a few days. The technicians were polite and competent. Cost was fair. I am happy with the service I received and looking forward to servicing my equipment with them going forward.

Shouldnt have waited a day to do this because I forgot the name of one of the guys, but regardless, my wife and I love Spencer. Theyve been extremely helpful on multiple occasions, but most recently by switching our home from baseboard heating to heat pumps.Drew and Melissa helped us navigate the Mass Save program to do the entire project for basically half the cost and get a no-interest loan, while Drew and electrician Leo gameplanned the project for our weird house. Steve, Aidan, and another guy whose name I now forget (sorry!) got the work done in one long day and the heat pumps work great. Its like weve switched to central heating/cooling without adding ducts. Hopefully, the electric bills are a fraction of what they were last year.Spencer has helped us now with excavation, new pipes, heat pumps, and even getting insurance adjusters for a particularly messy problem. Theyre the best.

I called Spencer Home Services because of previous issues with my main sewer line. Within 2hrs the technicians were at my house diagnosing the problem. One week later, August 8, 2024, Oscar, Cesar, and Richard arrived at my house on time and performed a sleeve in my main line from my basement to the street. They also sleeved the pipe coming from the upstairs bathroom toilet to the basement. They also replaced old PVC piping in my basement that was not properly installed many years ago going to the main sewer line. I was very impressed with the final outcome of this project. I am extremely happy that the main line was repaired without having to do any type of digging in the front of my house, sidewalk or street. Oscar, Cesar, and Richard are incredible to work with and extremely knowledgeable in their work. I highly recommend this company for any home improvement you need to have done.

My main water line sprung a leak. Peter was at my house within an hour and explained the whole process and expenses very well and gave me a fair price. Even encouraged me to get a 2nd estimate. I was shocked when he said they could get all the permits and equipment ready overnight. This was 4pm. At 7:30 they arrived and were finished by 10:30. Brian was an excellent operator and a very hard worker. The whole crew was very friendly and professional. I had a good conversation with my new friend Piedra while Paul and Brian were fishing the pipe. Not surprised they were on a first name basis with the city water department workers. 18 hours after I called the job was complete.I truly feel lucky to have been their customer. I was in such a panic when my main water line started gushing and Peter’s extensive knowledge and transparency was exactly what I needed. Spencer will get all my referrals from now on.

We were experiencing an unpleasant odor in the lower level of our split level home. SHS determined the likely source to be seepage from the under-slab cast iron portion of our sewer line, and recommended lining the 45 year old pipe. The work involved removing concrete slab, lining the pipe, reconnecting the lined pipe to the main PVC drain line, testing for leakage, video inspecting the repaired piping, and recasting the slab. The SHS crew (Oscar, Matt and Cesar) were knowledgeable, courteous, and showed me the progress of the work at critical stages. They were very careful to control dust and debris, and completely cleaned all the affected areas before leaving. All the work was completed in one day!

I called a plumber to diagnose and repair a sewage leak in my basement. After opening the wall, they were unable to locate the leak or further diagnose the problem. This was a true emergency as I had no use ot of toilettes, showers, sinks, washing machine, etc, in the house.I called Spencer Home Services late one afternoon after finding them on-line and received a great sense that they could help me - fast. Pete and crew arrived first thing the next morning and fully diagnozed the problem using a optical tool. I received a quote later in the day and had his experts on site the next day replacing the broken sewage line and inside plumbing and installing a temporary patch to the sewage line connecting my house to main sewage line in the street. Let me emphasize that installing tha patch was extra work which wasnt required but allowed me to use the water in my house immediately instead of having to wait for the second half of the job - replacing 30 feet of seage line from the hose to the street. This work was done the following day.Spencer Home Services exceeded my execations in all catgegories as the work was done very quickly with high quality. There was active communication throughout the project and the workspaces were left in like-new condition.I enthusiatically recommend Spencer Home Services.

Unbelievable experience. My central AC broke, I had another company come look at it, they told me I needed a new compressor and that it was going to cost me $6,000. I had Eydin from Spencer Home Services come take a look as I was referred to them. He ran a full diagnostic and it turned out my compressor didn’t even need to be replaced at all. We needed a new blower fan, they ordered the part on the spot and had it arrive and installed the same week. They saved me thousands. Eydin was unbelievably efficient, honest, and got my AC running better than before. Over the phone I spoke with Julie, who was also fantastic and so kind to both me and Eydin. I will never use another company.

My wife and I bought a house built in 1910 a few years back and needless to say it had a 40 year old oil burning furnace. Since we bought the house weve always been confused with Mass Save, but everyone told us to do it.Then Reese came to our house to assess our heating equipment and recommended Peter come to the house to A) explain the Mass Save process and B) give us options to best fits the needs of our house and family. Peter came to the house extremely knowledgeable of the subjects Reese mentioned. He also has an associate, Melissa, who quite literally cannot make the Mass Save process any easier (which was a huge weight off our shoulders). We decided on a Gas Combination Boiler to be hung on the wall.A few weeks later, Steve and Molly show up to start the job. To their surprise, and mine, specifics of the job were miscommunicated to them for one reason or another. However, they both handled the situation with the utmost professionalism and worked for 12 hours in my house on a 90-degree day. In addition to them, Jesse and Reese also showed up to lend a hand - it was pretty cool to see them congregate from different jobs to get this particular job done.After the installation, there was a minor issue with the water pressure in one of our sinks. Called Spencer at 7:24 AM regarding a clogged sewer line. The dispatcher was very nice.The web said 2 hour response time drain service, for $88 and a free video of the sewer line. The dispatcher suggested $188.We got a message 8:25, the tech was in the way. 20 minutes later he was onsite.He quoted $550 to clear the main drain.The main trap street side was opened and a simple hand snake used to clear the pipe. In a minute the line was running free. Everything was in order by 9:30 and the invoice was finalized at 9:51.

Reese an Matt went above and beyond for my grandparents. They took apart the old drainage system which was cast iron and very problematic and fully replaced it with beautiful PVC pipe. They explained in detail everything they needed to do step by step and were so respectful the whole time! They both made a very big impression on how they conducted themselves the kindness they showed was amazing! I cant say enough how much I would recommend them to anyone! They were constantly cleaning up any small mess they made even after telling them they didn’t need to do so. All an all they made a big problem seem very small. One of the greatest things was how quickly they came to the house! Called them within an hour or so they were here almost immediately. I called Spencer Home Services in the afternoon and spoke with Alicia. I explained the situation we were having and asked if she could get someone out here early the next morning. She was very nice to deal with and confirmed our appointment for the next day at 7:30am, which was perfect for me.Technician Reese arrived right on time. He was professional, clean and he listened to our concerns about the issue we were having. He then explained everything to us as far as the process to remedy the situation. After snaking and inserting a camera into the line, he determined it was a clog and perhaps a broken pipe just beyond our property line, he explained that the city would fix it at their expense. He stayed while I called the city and he explained to them what the issue is. Following his clean up of the work area, he waited until the DPW arrived and again explained the issue. The city confirmed the issue with their own inspection and fixed the matter in a few hours. The price quoted for Reeses work was very fair and was exactly what we were charged.FIVE STARS is not enough for this fine company and outstanding technician! Changing my 1 star review to 5 stars. I voiced the original concerns numbered below and Peter took immediate action. He came to our home and personally inspected the water line and water heater and said he would take care of the necessary repairs. He even had his crew replace an old corroded water valve that was unrelated to the hot water heater. He took the time to look at the rest of our plumbing and address additional concerns. It is very clear that Peter truly cares about his customers and takes great pride in his business. I would not hesitate to call them again in the future. Above and beyond service.1) the technician claimed that the water line was leaking and they wanted to replace the entire pipe out to the street. At that time there was 1 inch of water around the meter. I received a second opinion and this was likely due to ground water seepage (it had been raining hard all day). Plus the water meter was not spinning on its own which would be indicative of a leak. They did not even shut off the water valves one by one to find the alleged leak.2) the exhaust vent on our hot water heater was slightly out of place and some of the fittings were corroded. Instead of attempting to replace the fittings, the technician wanted to replace the entire hot water heater (it is possible that the hot water heater would have to be replaced if the fittings could not be taken off but they did not even try/ say they would try). The exhaust vent did not need to be replaced. It just needed to be screwed back into position. I was not given an answer when I asked the technician why it could not be screwed back into place or why we couldn’t try and just replace the fittings.

During the service, I did have a few problems or concerns. So, I called the home office and spoke with Melissa. She sent employee Reese who did a great job and took care of all my concerns and answered all my questions. The result is that I am now a happy camper and can give high marks to Spencer Home Services, especially Reese and Melissa.

We ran into sewer issues on a Friday of a long weekend. We called a handful of companies including Spencer and they actually had someone to answer the phone which was a plus! They were able to get someone to our home that afternoon! The technician Brian was fantastic! Very information, and jumped right in to try to clear the clog. Reese came by with the camera to make the assessment of the sewer line. He was able to show us the roots that had invaded our sewer line as well as a misaligned/cracked pipe. He gave us the option of lining the pipe with a pipe sleeve or tearing up the sidewalk etc to put in a new line. Both Brian and Reese were very great technicians. We opted for the sewer line sleeve and did not have time to wait to get quotes from others, (but not one of the other plumbers ever returned our call). The work was scheduled the following Monday for Tuesday morning. We were always alerted to when the technicians would come by text message. If we had any questions, we could easily call the office and speak to Sheila or Alicia. On Tuesday morning, the 3 technicians arrived promptly by 7:30 — we had received a text message to inform us of their arrival. They were able to complete the job by lunch time and we could use our water without any worries! Michael, Oscar and the 3rd technician (sorry I didn’t ask his name) were very professional! They showed us the blockage and the crack again, cleaned it out and showed us again. Once they put the sleeve through and it hardened, they showed us the new pipe and the clean line. They answered all questions and asked if we had any other plumbing concerns or questions as well. I had emailed my insurance company on Friday night to see if this would possibly be covered by insurance. Most people said no and internet searches said the same. It was surprising to me the following week when I found out we had purchased additional coverage that does cover the sewer line. When I received the document to be filled out and sent it to Spencer late one afternoon, it was only a short time later that it was returned to me completed to send off to my insurance company. I can not speak more highly of Spencer and every communication we had with them. Their customer service, their technicians and their work are all A++++++++++ We will definitely use Spencer in the future and highly recommend them to anyone in need of plumbing work!

The water pressure in my house became worse and worse as the years went by, but I didnt call anyone because I assumed that fixing it would be a painful process. But it finally got so bad that one load of laundry was taking 3.5 hours, and I couldnt get any water from any other faucet in the house while the washing machine was running. I called Spencer who sent Peter to my house that week and he explained that my water line was original to the house (1950), the reason I was having the issue, explained the process to fix it, answered my questions, and alleviated my concerns! I had a quote the next day. Once I accepted the quote, I was lucky enough to get the work scheduled for later that same week. The crew showed up at 7:15 AM (15 minutes early), and the whole project was done and inspected by the City by noon! And now my water pressure is better than it has ever been! Thank you Spencer!!

We picked Spencer Home Services by the reviews left on their web. Greatest thing I have done in a while. lol. We reside in an old house and knew for many years we would be needing a new sewer line going out to the city line. Our sewer line backed up as well and a national known company was coming to jet the line for us. They big chain previously cleaned our line out about 6 months ago. Back then they said we would need to rip down our front porch, fence, brick walk way, etc to put in a new sewer line. They said the trenchless couldnt be done, but we wanted a second opinion.I called Spencer Home Services. Best move we made! They said they would send somebody right out to us. I cancelled the appt with the national chain company since they were going to be several hours and tried moving us to later in the day. Richard and his staff were at our house in short time, draining our sewer line. It was essentially just travel time to our house! Our pipeline was like an old maze underground, but Richard and staff figured it out. Richard did say the trenchless couldnt be done due to the old clay pipe damage, but gave us an estimate for the new sewer line. The estimate Richard gave us was very fair and a price we couldnt say no.Richard and his crew showed up a couple days later, on time putting in our new sewer line. This was essentially trenchless with no big trenches. Our porch or fence did not need to come down. Some of the bricks had to be taken out of our walkway, but Richards crew put them back exactly how they were in! Richard said on the day of the estimate if they take something down or apart, they will put it back the way it was! And they did!! They also left our basement cleaner than it was!I live in a town where the city inspectors are amazingly tough. Many commercial companies, plumbers, construction and electric workers refuse to return to our city. The city inspection supervisor from city sewer showed up. He was amazed how they did this. He asked Richard for their business cards. We live in an old town where sewer lines, old city roads are hard to put in new sewer lines.The most amazing part the crew showed up at 7 am and were pulling out completely done just before 2 pm!Dont pick anybody over Spencers. I would refer this company to our family and friends all day long!Thank you Spencers Home Services!

The main sewer line out of our house was blocked in January, and after two visits from a local drain company in less than three weeks, I knew we couldnt wait until the spring for a more permanent solution. I spoke with Sheila at Spencer Home Services late on a Thursday afternoon and Ritchie was at our house with a camera early the next morning. After he inspected the line as much as possible (due to obstructions), he presented the options for repair. He came back with Adam and Brian in an hour with all the equipment they needed, and replaced the entire line, which had a disconnection in one location and was broken and clogged in other areas, through the frozen ground and snow. They completed the work in about four hours. Everyone at Spencer was a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend them.

Matt and his apprentice from Spencer Home Services came back to my home last week to resolve some long overdue deficiencies. As promised, they arrived at 8:00am sharp so I could go over what they intended to accomplish before beginning my workday. They did an excellent job! Awesome customer service-truly a great experience. Called for help for my elderly mother who lives alone, 4 hrs away from me. Peter Holland answered the phone on a Saturday afternoon and was at my mothers house within an hour to diagnose a water leak in the basement. He called the town and had someone come out to look at the water line before he got there. He determined the cause-hot water heater leak-and provided a number of plumber referrals. And all of this, done so quickly on a weekend, for $0 house call. As someone who manages a number of businesses I wish we all had the same level of customer service.
