I recently had Matthew upgrade my electrical panel and install an electric car charger. I was very impressed with his work. He was clean, professional, polite, and honest. He arrived on time and was very knowledgeable about the work that needed to be done. He explained everything to me in detail and made sure that I understood the process. He also took the time to answer all of my questions.The work that Matthew did was excellent. He upgraded my electrical panel to a larger size so that I could safely install the electric car charger. He also installed the charger in a convenient location in my garage. The charger works great and I am very happy with it.I would highly recommend Matthew to anyone who needs electrical work done. I had my service panel upgraded from a 100amp to a 200amp and I just want to say wow!!! Not only did matt and his helper jackinstall the new panel, they went above and beyond the call. i.e. They cleaned up all the old wiring on the side of the house and made it look neat, installed new outdoor outlet and even strapped up the cable and ethernet wires laying on the ground. I am very happy and impressed on how professional, neat, and courteous they were. I would definitely recommend Gold standard electric to anyone.

Excellent work! I reached out to Gold Standard to see what it would take to upgrade our old 60 amp fusebox to a more modern 200 amp breaker box and install an outdoor outlet. From my initial conversation, I knew I would be using them for the job. Matt was extremely knowledgeable on what would be required for my unique situation. Unlike most homes, we have a separate meter that powers our electric water heater, so we needed a special meter socket that could house 2 meters. Due to the current raw materials shortage, Matt had to search high and low to find one to accommodate me. The water heater is in the crawlspace and the electrical box is in a small utility closet, so as you can imagine, they were working in some tight spaces. Despite some unforeseen bumps in the road, they managed to get everything done by end of day and cleaned up after themselves. Matt and Jack were professional and courteous and I will be sure to reach out for any future work. When you go with Gold Standard, you can rest assured that the work was done right.

I got several estimates for turning a room in the basement into a workshop. Matt was the only one who understood the requirements and included a “ground bus bar” in the estimate. He was not low bid, however I knew he would do what I wanted and I knew it would get done correctly.I sent several emails during the time between the estimate and actual install date, with questions, suggestions and tweaks in the project. Matt responded to them all letting me know which could not be done as they violated electrical code and which could be added.Matt and his helper did an excellent job preparing my workspace with 240 and 120 volt outlets. The garage also received a welding receptacle for a future electric vehicle. Any holes were prepared for repair with spackle or an access panel for potential expansion. Matt kept in touch with me during the entire process asking for executive decisions when necessary. They cleaned the areas after working, sometimes leaving the space cleaner than before they had started.

As Matt can attest, none of my electrical projects ever turn out to be run of the mill at my house. I am happy to say, Matt is the first electrician that can keep up with my needs and continue to perform expertly every time I call on him. He is extremely knowledgable about his trade, understands the many and changing rules and regulations, takes time to explain what needs to be done and why, and then delivers on time and budget. Hes added outlets, generator hook-ups, fixed other electricians mistakes, ran a 120/240V lines 150 feet feet and installed a sub-panel in my shed for a new pool, added custom LED lighting all around the edge of my pool so I can make the pool any color I want or set a program for a party effect for the kids, ran ethernet cable outside the house to ensure wifi reaches the security camera at the pool, the list goes on. We moved into a big, beautiful, 100+ year old house in early October 2020, and nearly all of the wiring was knob-and-tube, originally mounted when electricity came to our neighborhood in the 1920s. The wiring would need to be removed and replaced throughout the house, as it was a fire hazard and wouldnt stand up to our modern power demands. We spent weeks searching, until a posting on the Newton Community Forum on Facebook led us to Gold Standard Electric. I reached out via email and explained the situation, and electrician Matt stopped by to evaluate our project. Wearing a mask, and carefully going over the many problems in the home, Matt quoted us a fair price and a schedule. Initially the schedule would have had the project running up through Christmas Eve, but Matt worked with us to divide up the project in such a way that we werent left with a messy house covered in construction debris over the holidays. Throughout the project, Matt kept us in the loop on what he was finding and what would need to be adjusted or updated, and what could be set aside. We had initially been quoted a schedule of two weeks, but Matt had the entire thing handled in just under a week and a half, including cleanup and removal of all outdated wiring. Where necessary, he added more outlets and replaced outdated fixtures as well. Our family now has a safe, secure, and brighter (literally!) home, thanks to Matt and Gold Standard Electric.
