Jesse and the Practical Renovations team are amazing. They completely rebuilt my decrepit 100+ year old porch and gave my home a major facelift. The new porch is absolutely beautiful. Everyone was professional, kind, and explained things so I understood what was happening throughout the entire process. A dedication to preserving historical authenticity, attention to detail, along with their use of high quality and long lasting building materials were much appreciated. I have no doubt this porch will still exist 100 years from now. If you need work on your house these guys are the best!

I hired Practical Renovations to do a gut remodel of my bathroom, along with expanding the space to include an old and poorly insulated closet.I am THRILLED with the result. I went from a small and dated bathroom to a huge bathroom with amazing high end details including a walk in shower, heated floors, and updated lighting.From the drywall to the tiling, the attention to detail was outstanding. Jesse is responsive and communicates reliably on the status of the project.I won’t hesitate to use his team again, and would absolutely recommend him to others with no reservations.

Recently we had a renovation of our kitchen, two bathrooms, and a laundry room. The work was superb and we are very pleased with the results. Jesse worked with us to make sure that everything was done at or beyond our expectations. Any issues or questions were resolved easily and relatively quickly. When problems arose, they put the time and effort in to make sure that the best solution was arrived at, and the final solution was one that both looked great and would be durable.

We hired Jesse to repair/reinforce a sagging second story porch and couldnt be more satisfied. He was very flexible and communicative throughout the process. Most importantly, the structure is now bomb-proof! Would recommend to anyone for projects large or small in scope.

Short Version: Hire this company immediately.Long Version:Jesse, Dan, Steve, and John are amazing for so many reasons that I can’t list them all here. This is what I can think of now.1. Itemized estimate. Jesse outlines everything in the job and what it will cost. No surprises and we had the ability to add other parts to the project because of knowing where we stood at any moment.2. Quality building skills. There was no facet of the project that they could not handle. For example, Dan replicated our original cove ceiling that was damaged. The time and skill in his work is unmatched. Looking at our kitchen today one would have a difficult time distinguishing the original features from Practical’s work.3. Excellent Communication. If we had a question, Jesse was available to talk. If we had an issue that needed to be solved, Jesse was able to talk. Our project worked so smoothly because of the excellent communication.4. Good people. Jesse, Dan, Steve, and John were so nice and considerate during the entire process. We enjoyed having them in our home and talking with them about topics other than the project.5. We would hire Practical again in an instant. This should convince you to hire this company. We would have no hesitation welcoming them back into our home and plan to do so. They are worth the wait. I didnt end up having Practical renovations do my job but I felt like I had important information to share. Jesse is incredibly open and honest and this is huge. We discussed what I wanted to have done and, because I wasnt doing a large reno project, after talking we decided it might make more sense to go with a different kind of contractor. He referred me to another contractor that was more in line with what I needed. It demonstrated that Practical Renovations is the type of company you want working for you. You arent going to get a hard sell or somebody that tries to steer you in a direction that you dont want to move in. What you are going to get is solid communication and honesty. I cant speak to the caliber of their work since I didnt have them do the work but Im 100% certain based on what Ive seen and what Ive heard from people that have had work done, you are going to get exceptional service and an exceptional finished product.

I had the pleasure of working with Jesse Carter- Practical Renovations, LLC. Jesse was saddled with the burden and complications of tearing out and re-installing poorly installed drywall from a previous contractor. I was extremely please with the results, which was night and day! There was absolutely no comparison hands down. Jesse is very knowledgeable and meticulous. He took the time to explain the process of what and why he was doing. He completed the project ahead of schedule. Jesse is by far one of the best contractors I have worked with. He is professional and friendly and also does quality work. He goes above and beyond as well. He came out multiple times to talk to me about an issue with my porch and assured me I could wait a year or so before having to fix it in order to save $$. He spent 30 mins to an hour with me each time. He also repaired and stained our deck and came back to fix a couple of boards that were starting to pop up. At the same time I asked if he could look at an issue I was having with one of my plaster walls and he spent 45 minutes looking at it and talking me through how we could diagnose the issue and repair it. I will be using him for my porch when we get it done and will continue to use him for repairs to our old house built in 1925. He is very knowledgeable and I highly recommend him!

Jesse and his crew renovated and remodeled my entire downstairs. They were diligent, professional, punctual, compassionate, and flexible. Prices were more than fair and the place is flawless. FLAWLESS I SAY. Their attention to detail is unmatched. For example, the doorknob fell off the downstairs bathroom the day I got possession of the house. I have been looking at it for six months thinking about how I need to find a match and fix it. Today the guys were at the house finishing a few things and when I got home MY BATHROOM HAD A FULLY FUNCTIONAL MATCHING DOORKNOB. At no point was this door knob discussed- they just saw it needed done and did it. Seriously, these guys are so thoughtful. Lastly, and probably something I should have said at the beginning, Jesse has great ideas. I wanted to maintain some of the original shape of the butler pantry but needed the space to be functional. He was able to create a kitchen that met both those demands.

Jesse installed two exterior doors for me on a 100-year old house. He did an in-depth inspection and gave me a comprehensive explanation of the job so that I wouldnt get surprised with any additional work or charges. He fit me into his schedule, communicated consistently, and then did an excellent job on the installation. Our previous contractor did a poor job installing our floor and Jesse remedied this by installing some thresholds to cover the gap between the new door and the flooring. Great attention to detail that other contractors would have ignored. I highly recommend Jesse.

Jessie was great! Friendly, SUPER communicative (which in my experience w/contractors is exceedingly rare), and very transparent regarding costs and labor. From quote to completion was about two weeks, and we barely had to do a thing. The finished product, an 8x14 patio, was done in a day and a half. It might have taken longer, but Jessie accounted for the impending weather and pushed through to make sure he beat the rain. Were so happy with our new outdoor space! :D
