Sandbox Solar is definitely the way to go if you’re considering installing solar. Everyone I interacted with was kind, knowledgeable, and really helped make the process seamless. Efa was an absolute gem with some scheduling complications I had, Calvin and the installation crew were wonderful, going above and beyond for me…. even in cold December weather, and Tyler the electrician was easy to work with getting the inspection completed and passed. Its impressive as a company that they keep all the work in house and they all really seem to enjoy working with Sandbox. It feels good to support a company who does great work and clearly has happy employees. I would definitely recommend Sandbox! I wish working with all contractors was this easy and well done!

I highly recommend Sandbox Solar if you are looking to install a solar system in the Fort Collins area. We are now about two months in with our newly installed 8 kw system from Sandbox Solar and everything is working perfectly. The Sandbox Solar crew did an outstanding job from start to finish and beat any competing proposals hands down. This was a complex project since it involved placing all the panels on the barn roof and feeding 3 buildings including the barn. They maximized the amount of trenching and conduit and were able to make changes as required to provide what I consider and optimal system. They are also some of the best people youll ever work with. And were loving the negative consumption on sunny days!

I originally went with Sandbox Solar in 2021 for a rooftop mount with batteries. I worked with Justin on the planning phase and was able to have a system that matched exactly what I was aiming for. I’m kind of a tech nerd, so I asked a lot of tough questions that an average person may not even care to ask and he knew his stuff. I think that’s one of the biggest things that separates Sandbox from other companies that knock on doors to make sales is the experience and knowledge everyone had on all things solar. Everyone I dealt with in the company was very experienced and it showed.As a word of caution, I have neighbors that went with a different company that knocked on their door and it’s been a complete nightmare for them. The company originally installed only the panels and took so long to finish the install (still not finished) that they are being compensated every month for the loan payment to make up for not getting their system approved and operating. So choosing a credible installer that has a home base nearby and has been around for years is crucial in my opinion.I would recommend this company to anyone. In fact they also installed a system on my parent’s house and another family that I recommended them with.

Just finished up my solar installation and turn on from Sandbox Solar - it has been a wonderful and issue free process from start to finish. The whole team has been great to work with, from Andrew with the initial evaluation and proposal, to Efa coordinating the whole process, Cavin and his team doing the install over 2 days, and Tyler handling the electric work.All the details of the install were handled easily by the team - from the solar panel installs, to the electric work, to painting the hardware matching colors. The team knew exactly what they needed to do for all aspects of the install, and it was impressive seeing them doing the coordinated work.The paperwork and inspections with the city were problem free, and the system was turned on within just a few days after the install completed.

My solar system just went live with our electrical Coop. I had first contracted with echo mark solar who informed me three months later that the county would not issue a permit to place solar on my metal out building as I did not want panels on my house. They told me I would have to tear down and rebuild the entire building. In comes Sandbox. Not only did they install 29 solar panels on my metal building, they did so at half the cost that Echo Mark was going to charge me. Funny thing, the county issued a permit and it passed all inspections. Sandbox not only did a great job with my solar, they also installed a sub electrical panel at no additional cost when it was discovered that the new panel they had to place had less breaker space than the old one. Tells you all you need to know about Echo Mark and everything you want to know about Sandbox. I highly recommend Sandbox. Go with the smaller local guys

Sandbox Solar did a fantastic job installing a customized 27 kWh system for our home in the Boulder - Longmont Area. Having purchased solar for a previous residence, we knew exactly what we wanted and were looking for a company with the expertise to develop an especially large, hyper-optimized array for a reasonable price. We contacted several companies, but Sandbox Solar’s bid was the best. Now our array is fully engaged, and I must say, we are impressed with every aspect of our system from the design and engineering, to the construction (thank you Charles!), electrical work, and of course the performance of our batteries and panels. Service at Sandbox is so friendly, responsive and professional that we’re sad our project is done. Great job, Sandbox!

Justin, Efa, and the rest of the team at Sandbox were fantastic throughout the process. There was no pressure, and the informative sales experience sealed the deal. We paid slightly more per watt, but this was a big purchase, so we bought on value - the value of having a local team and the extended warranty with REC and Enphase. Anyone, including large companies, can quote whatever, but will they really back up their workmanship and warranty? We made the correct choice here, and I feel terrific about it!

This is a wonderful company to work with. All the work is in-house, the sales staff is knowledgeable and informative, and the process is pressure free. They are more than competitive in price. You will not be paying for giant infrastructure and stock market performance.The engineering docs for the job is professional and the permit process through to completion is seamless.The equipment they use is state of the art and is currently providing more than estimates! The Enphase Enlighten app is informative.Installation crew is fantastic! No mess inside or out. They painted (with my paint) any external conduit, which was minimal.They installed interconnect wiring in the attic to provide a clean aesthetic to the installation.This is not a giant, publicly traded company. They are community driven and local in Fort Collins.After many sales sessions with other companies, I felt Sandbox Solar would not only provide a quality solution, but they would be there during and after the process. I was not wrong.If you are thinking solar (with the new 30% tax credit) this is the place. After doing the calcs on costs, a system now costs the same or less monthly than what electricity costs from Xcel energy. Future rate increases not included. Take a load off the grid! Also RENU in Colorado is a thing.

We just had our solar panels installed in Jan/Feb 2024 by Sandbox Solar. I would highly recommend Sandbox. The team was very professional and kept us up to date throughout the entire installation process. The crew that performed the install was professional and friendly. There was one minor issue we encountered and Sandbox resolved it quickly and without any hassles. After the install was complete, the panels passed city and utility company inspections without any issues. We just had solar panels installed on our third home and the crew from Sandbox Solar did a wonderful job. The panels blend right into our black roof and the crew took the time to paint the conduit to match our house colors so its basically invisible as well. Ian Was a great guy to work with and very knowledgeable. He listened to what we wanted in a system and then designed it to meet our current and future energy consumption. Other companies will try to max out the number of panels on your roof without considering your energy consumption so they can get the maximum profit from each project. This was not the case with Sandbox. Sandbox is reasonably priced and local which is a huge plus as they are able to respond quickly to items you may have. They also stood by their work and when an accident damaged the ceiling during installation they got someone out to fix it right away. I cant recommend them enough and if you do end up going with them let them know that I sent you!

Its working great and even has nice apps that show us how much energy we are getting at certain times of day so we can plan our usage around it. Sandbox Solar installed a 16 panel 6 KW system on our home in April 2024. We found them through a City of Northglenn solar coop. They were excellent in providing a few different system designs, helping me understand the technology and answering all my questions (I am demanding in that regard). The installation itself went smoothly and professionally, the finished system looks great and sailed through city inspections and Xcel approvals. Efa was very helpful in guiding us through the entire process. I cannot recommend Solar Sandbox strongly enough. Thanks for your excellent work!

This was a great company to work with. They delivered a professional and trouble-free 24 solar panel roof installation with a 240 volt EV circuit in the garage. We expected the project to finish in January but went on-line earlier with Xcel in November. Sales, engineering, panel installation, electrical, and office staff were responsive, knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. I would gladly use Sandbox Solar again.

What a breath or fresh air this company is after having many bad contractor experiences in the past. Justin was very patient with us while we assessed getting solar panels and postponed our project. Weve had a solar system for 4 yrs and it suddenly stopped working. We attempted to contact the company that installed it several times, but it was taking weeks to get any response and schedule service while we were paying a high electric bill, so I contacted Sandbox on a referral from a trusted colleague. Sam was amazing and knowledgeable about the system. It turned out that our equipment was under warranty, but Sam had to jump through hoops of fire and spend tons of time on the phone with the manufacturer before we got the replacement. It took several visits, but were back on track now (and they never billed me until the system was operational again)! I highly recommend Sandbox for any of your solar needs!!

Brian took time to explain what he did to hook up the electrical elements of the installation. Everything happened when they said it would. He provided all the information we needed, and was especially helpful with our questions about financing and the city rebate process.We were pleased with our interaction with Sandbox in every respect. The materials and equipment used were of good quality, and Sandboxs workers did a fine job installing the array, inverter and infrastructure. Justin also spent some time helping us install the phone apps that track power consumption and production, which we appreciated. Thus far the performance of the array has exceeded our expectations, and were looking forward to our lower utility bills.We should add that the very attractive estimate quoted by Sandbox was in fact the price we paid. This company did very good work for us at a cost that was well under that quoted by their competitors. We would recommend them to anyone in the Front Range desiring residential solar power.

My original solar company that did the panel install for my house went out of business. I spent a year trying different solar companies to maintain my system, and I finally found the diamond in Colorado: Sandbox Solar. These guys are just phenomenal to work with, and really know the industry, and are the best value you can find in Colorado. I first had them do some inverter repairs (I have an Enphase system), and they managed all aspects of the engagement including dealing direct with Enphase for me so I didnt have to get in the middle. With absolutely no pressure or hassle, they also shared some information about some possible upgrades I might want to consider in the future (my system was over 10 years old). Fast forward 3 months and we had a hailstorm that required a roof replacement, which also required panel removal. Sandbox Solar took care of all of that for me, including providing information to the insurance company to cover their costs in the format that the insurance companies used. I didnt even need to get involved other than connect them with the insurance company, it just went flawlessly. While the panels were being removed, I asked them about the upgrade they had mentioned 3 months earlier, and they provided numerous options for us for upgrades of the system which could be done leveraging the install / removal that needed to be done with the hail damage repair. Needless to say this went great with Sandbox Solar be very upfront with costs, schedules, and recommendations as well as simulations to project what the performance of the various options for the new system would be.While working through this I decided to also add a whole house generator as a backup. There were numerous complexities with this due to the interaction with the panels and inverters from ENphase, and Sandbox Solar again came through with a great cost effective solution and actually guided us away from other more expensive options that didnt make sense.Sandbox Solar has been just stellar to work with throughout this whole process. Extremely flexible, exceptionally knowledgeable of all the alternate energy options for the home, great communication and status, and above all honest and ethical to work with. They are a group of guys I really trust to not only get the job done but take care of me and the house in the process. I highly recommend Sandbox Solar.

I bought a house with the perfect roof for solar - south facing, at a good angle, and free of any shading (well, except for a minor chimney shadow for one panel) and knew I wanted to take the opportunity to get an array built.I initially used EnergySage, and Sandbox quickly stood out as the best option for me. Their panels were among the highest performance/quality/warranty, their add-ons like a main-panel upgrade and 240v electrical run for my EV were well priced, they didnt push hard to sell me a battery like some other vendors did, and their $/watt ratio was among the best Id have seen myself or from other folks Id asked. They even worked with me to install the array in January instead of December so I could take advantage of the tax credit on my 24 taxes where itll do more work for me financially.The installers and electricians were super friendly in person, getting the job done in a little over a day and change, which worked out well since a big snow storm was headed in an hour or so after they left. Justin and Efa on the business side of the house have been extremely helpful answering my deluge of questions and eased any anxiety I had over the process. Permitting was a breeze and we got permission to operate from Xcel only 4 days after the city approved the array installation, quite a bit faster than I expected from reading horror stories about people waiting to be able to turn things on.Again, thank you to the whole Sandbox Solar team for a job well done. Ill absolutely be recommending your team to anyone who asks, and hit you up about a battery or two when the time is right and supply-chain issues have finally settled down :)

Sandbox solar installed my PV system 3 years ago. About a month ago I realized my system was no longer generating power. Sandbox was responsive and came out within a week to diagnose the issue. They found that the inverter had failed and were able to get me a warranty replacement installed in less than two weeks. I have nothing but good things to say about the Sandbox team!

Sandbox Solar bid on my project through EnergySage (saved me about $5K versus same equipment quoted by a top regional installer not on EnergySage). The pricing they offered was very competitive with other installers on EnergySage, and the equipment they quoted was a step above quotes with similar pricing. I received permission to operate earlier this week, and after one on-site service call, the system is producing at levels at or above what was quoted to me.So why 4 stars instead of 5?1) Painting the conduit was a point of frustration for me (and candidly, for them). If I could do it over again, I would have paid $500 to an external vendor who had expertise in that particular skill. The overall price of the project would have still been competitive, the outcome would have been better, and it would have been less of a hassle for everyone.2) Pricing felt a little nickel-and-dime to me. After I accepted the quote on EnergySage, I was told of some additional fees that would be required to do the job. Talking to other contractors and consumers, it sounds like its more common to include the extra services in the upfront quote, such as for electrical work that enables reporting of energy consumption.3) My permission to operate came 2.5 months after our contract specified. In fairness, if my house were in Fort Collins, I think Sandbox Solar would have better understood timelines with the local government and electrical company. But by my estimate, this delay cost me $450 in energy production.Why 4 stars instead of 3? I genuinely like the people I worked with. I believe theyre doing their best and want to improve. They solicited my feedback and werent defensive when I shared the same candid feedback Im sharing with you.Definitely worth a quote. Like I said, great value on great equipment. Thank you to Efa, Sam, Justin, and everyone elsewho played a role in the project.

I had three estimates for the installation of our ground mounted system. Sandbox Solar were not the least expensive, but Ian, one of the owners was the most impressive person to whom I spoke. He was quickly able to determine how my particular installation could be done.Other sales representatives were not so knowledgeable about installation, inverters or other options, like possibly using a battery system in conjunction with the solar array. I found his honesty and straightforward manner refreshing in comparison with standard sales techniques.The clincher for me was this is truly local Fort Collins company. The money stays in the community.Subsequently, the staff of Solar Sandbox were all very helpful and did the their best to provide a quality result. I had a great experience with Sandbox Solar, from start to finish. I did my due diligence and met with The Big Company and The Long Established Solar Company From Boulder and then Sandbox, the younger, local company. Both of the other companies sent out salesmen with their pitches, but they were not solar people. My first meeting with Sandbox was with their co-owner and designer who was extremely patient and helpful with my solar naivete. Additionally, my house has metal shingles. The salesman from The Big Company assured me they had worked with those many times. When I asked for a reference or address, they completely disappeared. The Established Solar Company From Boulder wanted to subcontract to a roofer to remove my metal shingles and put asphalt shingles under the solar panels, at a much higher cost. Ian at Sandbox simply contacted the manufacturer of the shingles, got the information about the available racking system for my roof, case closed and no change to my quote, which was competitive with the disappearing Big Company. That alone tells you what kind of company this is. They obviously take pride in the work they do and are not just looking for quick money. Ian, the co-owner/engineer was in contact and on-site from day one. Their workers were extremely pleasant and efficient and they kindly worked around other remodeling and efficiency projects I had going on at the same time, a bit of a perfect storm, but every thing was coordinated with minimal effort from me. I have no doubt that I got the best company for my project!

When I had to replace my roof because of hail damage, I contracted with Sandbox Solar to take down my panels ahead of time and reinstall after the new roof was on. Sandbox Solar was able to coordinate the timing of the reroof so that panels were off a mere three weeks. They also identified one of my micro inverters that was not working and have ordered the part for them to install once it arrives. Additionally they were able to reconnect me to the internet interface with my system which I had been unable to access for many months. Sandbox Solar was professional and efficient. It took them one day to dismantle and one day to reinstall the system. The crew was very careful with my equipment, and they cleaned up well at the end. There was always easy contact back and forth with Ian and A J to coordinate the whole process. I plan to use Sandbox Solar for all the future needs of my solar panels.

Its a small operation, in a good way (no someone will contact you type handoffs typical of the larger ones). The reasons why we chose Sandbox in the end was a) clear and realistic presentation of options (no exorbitant claims, upsells or surprises along the way) b) hardware/offer on par with larger operations and c) competitive prices.What definitely was unique to Sandbox Solar was the familiarity with city and utility stakeholders (at least for our Fort Collins project) - I found it really impressive that (after authorization) they could simply pull the data from the various databases instead of the send last 12 utility bills type of excel exercise asked by virtually everyone else. They were also the most knowledgeable about the available local finance options, without trying to upsell their own.Sandbox also scored high in all the small things - from being mindful about loud work as we had a week-old baby in the house, through treating the property respectably, to painting things to reduce the visual intrusiveness of the extra wiring.Ultimately, they managed to build the system to spec several weeks faster than the initial timeline estimate - kudos to the whole team!

This is a 1 year post-install solar review:1. ian an aj were very forthcoming and methodical about the entire solar install process. plus just fun to work with. the crew they brought was very professional.2. their strength is the electrical design, but surprisingly their construction were top notch as well : the panel attachment point method allowing solar panel expansion/contraction given a thumbs up by an installer doing the house next-door.3. best price. by a lot. in fact, i canceled a prior contract before the buyers remorse deadline to go with these guys. good move.4. the only negative, probably more of a quibble, is that there is a very small amount of clipping that occurs (they installed a 6kW inverter on a 7.75 kW max power system, but the actual max power is something a bit more than 6kW). but i lose like 3kWh/$0.19 cents a day on sunny nonwinter days due to this !5. performance: the system over-delivered 2.5MWh of energy this last year, so i got a small check back from the electrical co-op, in addition to the federal energy rebate for my 2018 taxes, REC buyback from the co-op, and some smart energy credits from my county (eagle). so financially, it has worked out nicely.overall, the best recommendation i can give is that i would go with them again, and it would take another installer beating them by several thousand dollars to move away.

The project went smoothly from start to finish. Justin and Efa were available to answer questions, were pleasant to work with and were very knowledgeable. The installation crew worked fast and completed the project in two days. No issues with permit approval or City inspection. Received permission to operate from Xcel energy in two weeks. I had a few issues with the agreement but negotiations were easy and Justin was amenable to all the changes I requested. I used EnergySage to obtain several quotes for my solar project. Sandbox was not the least expensive but their pricing was competitive. I chose to work with Sandbox because the REC solar panels they use degrade less over time and provide a better value.

Right now I am in the process of tracking my consumption and potential savings. I have yet to use my car charger as I am waiting on the proper vehicle to buy. I recommend this business as was recommended by a friend who was equally satisfied. Good to know that this company in located in FOCO, I am contributing to less pollution and green house gases, and that I will have a rebate from the City of Fort Collins and a tax deduction on my 2020 return.

Ian started working with us about a year before we finally did the install. His initial proposal was very comprehensive, but I had a different idea about the panels I wanted to use. Ian sourced those panels and provided a new and updated quote, working hard to fit the system to our needs. Once we pulled the trigger things went quite smoothly. His crews were respectful, communicative and took the time to teach me about what they were doing when I asked. All of our inspections went smoothly. We had some initial setup problems with the inverter firmware, but Ian was responsive when the problem manifested and things have been smooth sailing ever since.Id highly recommend talking to Sandbox if youre looking for a good, local and competitively priced company to work with. They will listen to your requests and build a system to your specifications!

Cant blame Sandbox for that, right?If you were to park the money for a solar system in the bank, your earned interest would only cover 1/4 of your electric bill. A no brainer for me...Follow up... They were awesome with after the sale tech help !
