Hughes Mechanical was very customer focused and honest. We had a plumbing issue on Christmas Eve, they came out in the morning. They place a camera in our main pipe and identified the cause of blockage and cleared. They showed us the cause and kept us informed. Plus they provide the cost prior to visit. We were hosting Christmas so we are so grateful for Hughes Mechanical and their professional team. Highly recommend 👍👍👍

The guys at Hughes were wonderful!! They were professional, knowledgeable, friendly, hard-working, and easy going. A real estate friend/neighbor recommended them to me and I am very pleased. I will 100% recommend them to others and definitely use them again. They didnt pressure me and took time to explain everything. At the end, they cleaned everything up and it looked great. I got a new (gas) furnace and a water heater, installed a register, and removed the ancient oil tank.

Update 9/27/24; I wanted to update to reflect the fact that Ive now learned that this install was done a little sloppy. The safety shutoff for the new condensate pump was not wired into the system so this could have caused major problems if the pump failed and leaked water all over my basement and HVAC system. Luckily, its within their labor warranty window, so I emailed and they promptly came and remedied the issue. Just a word of warning because I would never have caught the issue had I not had an HVAC service from a separate contractor, who pointed out the issue to me.Good install today. Work was completed quickly and the crew cleaned up the area well. The system will hopefully run much more efficiently than my previous 30 year old model. My only concern is the location because the unit is much larger than the previous model and the new location is over the drain line of my sump pump. It’s a tight space so not many options. The techs have assured me the unit is safe where it’s at so hopefully that works out.

Needed a full system replacement. Hughes came out, took measurements, gave me my best option and put me on the schedule right away. There were courteous and professional throughout the process. The installers even went as far as installing the system in a way that it would not block or hinder eventual replacement of hot water heater. This is something that I didnt even mention to them ahead of time. Price was on par with competitors and the brand that was installed was Rheem. Thanks for the rapid installation I will update as needed with a longevity review.

Very impressed with Hughes Mechanical. They installed a 5-1 mini-split AC/heat pump system in our 1920s home. A good experience all the way through, beginning with enlightening discussion with the estimator, who gave straightforward answers to all my questions (with no sales pressure). He sent the estimate promptly and was very responsive to subsequent questions. They offered an excellent price on highly rated equipment. The installers were prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable---as minimally disruptive as they could possibly be. When we had a small problem on the second day of operation, Hughes sent the installers back right away to fix it. A very good company to deal with on this project.

I have the utmost respect for this company. Everyone in the company that I came in contact with was professional and detailed. I cant say enough about the service technicians who performed the above-and-beyond installation. Not only were they pleasant, but they also ensured that I was comfortable knowing how the system worked before leaving my residence. They ensured my floors were protected and assisted in moving a large piece of furniture that blocked the entrance. They also ensured my old fuse box could handle the new system. Any questions I had during the installation were answered in great detail. Most of all, they were happy and appeared to enjoy their work. Hughes Mechanical just completed a big project in our home, installing ducts and traditional A/C for the upper levels and a ductless system for our basement. Their customer service from the initial estimate to wrapping up the job was excellent. Everyone we encountered answered our questions and provided information and options on what was best for our old house, not on what would make them the most money.The job was completed quicker than we expected and the pricing from Hughes was much better than the estimates we received from other companies.Its never easy having construction happening in your home, especially when you largely work from home, but Pat, Will and Chad were great about communication, timing, cleaning up and working with our schedules.Well continue to work with Hughes for all of our HVAC needs.

He emailed me promptly with an estimate, and answered all my questions. The installers arrived on time, and gave an accurate estimate of the time involved in the installation. They were efficient and courteous, and they cleaned the area after the work was completed. After the job I had a few questions, and the owner, Jason, called me and answered all my questions. Hughes installed a ductless split unit just under a year ago. Unit stopped working at week 50. Called and they had a tech out to the house when promised. Extremely professional all the way around. They had to order a new PC board and kept us informed about the shipping status. Scheduled the replacement the day they received the part. Could not be happier. Would definitely recommend.

Workers were polite and professional. Unit works great. My only complaint was poor communication in several instances. They cancelled the first appointment we had to get an estimate. On installation day, they brought the wrong thermostat, were supposed to come back. Had to bug them about that. They didnt come back for a week and when they showed up, had the wrong thermostat. Were supposed to reschedule. Got no call and several days later someone just showed up unannounced to install the correct thermostat.

I called United Plumbing which I guess merged with Hughes. I also rated them too because Im so grateful for the service I got. It was raining crazy and my basement was flooding due to a pipe not flowing properly from sump pump and it needed a valve or whatever. Hughes was not the cheapest, but he was diligent in his follow up while giving us the space we needed to make the decision. They are professional, on time, pleasant, extremely knowledgeable and honest, efficient and reasonably priced. I cannot sing their praises enough!! Everyone in our neighborhood used them from our recommendations. My elderly parents have used them several times, as has now my brother. For us they have repaired the AC, repaired an old water heater and then eventually replaced it. I believe they did the heating at my parents house along with their water heater replacement. We have used Hughes Mechanical many times to service several of our investment properties. We were pleased with the quality of work, their professionalism and timeliness. However, on 2 notable instances we were very disappointed with their failure to follow through on requests for immediate work. One of there occurred during the week of 11/7/2022 that required immediate follow-up plumbing and HVAC work that the company performed for us. They completed the initial work, but failed to complete the other items we requested done. So, we had to bring in another company to complete the work.In an earlier instance (May 2022), the company contacted us to transfer and continue HVAC maintenance contracts (Hughes ceased working through our property manager and sought to work directly with the property owners). We inquired about the possibility of a bulk discount for our 5 properties, but never received a response. So, again, we turned to a competitor.Other than these instances, we have been happy with the company, but are leery about future business as a result.

HUGHES installed a new natural gas heating system (replacing my very oil burning unit) in my basement with very professional crew and office staff. all HUGHES STAFF involved in the installation were efficient, respectful, friendly and knowledgeable. My project faced delays at several points due to city rules issues being misapplied by other entities and BGE installation delays caused by subcontracters (hired by BGE) having poor communication and demonstrable sloppiness. The contrast with HUGHES STAFF could not be more apparent to this customer...I was very grateful that every time these outside installers made mistakes, Chad and his staff helped me overcome the mistakes caused by others. I highly recommend Hughes Mechanical for these many reasons!

Just wanted to take a moment to review Hughes Mechanical. When Brad came in my husband was skeptical because Brad was here less than 15 mins looked at what we wanted and said he would email proposal in a few days. Everyone else came in measured and spent at least half hour or longer, and then wrote up a lengthy contract, some even added additional work we wasn’t interested in. From Brad, We received a quote that was substantially lower and more budget friendly than other major hvac companies. We were still skeptical, but we selected Hughes Mechanical. Stevie and Ryan put me at ease because they were prepared, professional, and thorough. They tested the system, cleaned work space, and answered all my questions. I have not used the Rheem AC/Furnace system yet, but I felt that it was important to give a review. Our 30-year old boiler needed replacing, but we wanted to relocate it and our existing water heater to another room in our basement, which meant core drilling through a concrete, load-bearing wall. Hughes was up to the task. They provided us a very detailed estimate which was priced fairly (we got four estimates), gave us a timeline which they stuck to, and was communicative throughout the process with very little disruption to us. They dealt with the permitting and referred us to a chimney contractor (we needed a new liner) who was equally excellent. We are very happy with the finished product and would highly recommend them.
