Its been a long time since I was stunned (in a good way) by the service I received from any company, but Shumate has gone above and beyond to keep my family loyal customers. We had an AC unit installed 10 months ago and while the unit itself had some issues - Shumate never hesitated to service and repair the unit in the utmost professional manner. They showed up on time, every time. Their staff is friendly and well-mannered, and I knew I could trust them in my home. When it was finally determined that AC unit needed to be replaced - this was no fault of theirs - not only did they do it in a timely, clean and orderly manner they also replaced it with a bigger and better unit than we originally purchased. I’ve never felt like a number, or just another customer dealing with them. My grievances were heard and addressed and then more than adequately rectified. Shumate made me feel as though the issues we were experiencing mattered to them and they did not rest until we were comfortable with the solution. Shumate has a loyal customer in me and I cannot recommend them enough.

Very Impressed with the sense of ownership and ensuring the job was complete to my satisfaction.Shumate replaced my gas furnace two years ago. I was not so impressed with they way the house was heating up and with the colder than normal winter this year, I ask them to come out and see what could be done. I knew the original builder designed the system as cheaply as possible and it just was not working well with the new, more efficient units.Some experienced techs came in to look it over and for a very reasonable price, upgraded the design and even changed out the furnace to a larger unit.What was most impressive is that one person was assigned to ensure the work was done properly and to my satisfaction. He called me every day for several days after the work was complete so we could fine tune the settings to make sure the system performed to my expectations.Really nice work.

Shumate did an awesome work in my home replacing an old water heat. The water heater location is not easy in a tight closet upstairs. Before contact Shumate, I tried other company that said it was not possible to replace for a same volume device and I should down size it. We were not in the mood to replace for something smaller. A neighbor recommended Shumate saying they for sure will get the work done. We called them, they were always very positive saying the work will be done! Yes, they did it. Thank you guys! We contacted these folks after we had two units die at the same time during the summer. We replaced one and another company got the other “limping” along since parts were nowhere to be found. We started calling around for quotes and to see who had actual units in stock to just replace it. Most places were price gouging and selling low quality units… or just didn’t have anything to install. these guys came in and gave us a fair quote, not jacked up AND they had units in stock. Their techs and installers are super professional and nice. We were so beyond pleased with them that we asked them to come back and help us track down a cooling issue for the first floor. They had some many guys crawling all around our finished basement to locate where some lines were disconnected in the ceiling and causing low airflow to the first floor. We had so many other companies look at it and tell us “nothing we can do, live with it” but the Shumate team was like a dog with a bone, they wanted to solve the issue - and they did! After years of having every company in the area out, finally it’s fixed! Now we are having them help us solve humidity issues for our second floor and we have no doubt that a solution will be found! Both A/C compressors went out due to loss of electrical contact.My Painting contractors had stepped on the electrical feed to one unit, pulling a contact loose and causing intermittent shorting.The Shumate representative was very good. THIS is the place to go!! My old HVAC system was from the 1970’s and I’ve been keeping it together with duct tape and prayer for years. I’ve had a over a dozen HVAC companies out to do quotes and let me know their deals. I learned exactly what needed to be fixed and how it would fail within a few years if I didn’t replace certain lines. I realized quickly using the sketchy tech off fb might be the cheapest option but it would cost me more in the long run. The issue was cost. I just couldn’t afford to drop thousands all at once but i didn’t want to pay the interest fees for a loan either. A friend recommended this company and they came in and told me exactly what needed to be done (I already knew but good to see they knew also) and the price was what I expected it should be. They have a 3 to 4 year interest free deal with Wells Fargo on their loans and it’ll be fully paid off by the end of that interest free period. This is EXACTLY what I had been looking for! They were able to do all the work within a week of me calling too! I can’t recommend this place enough!

Shumate replaced our broken water heater today. Yesterday, we noticed water coming out of our old water heater around 4pm. I called Shumate and they came out at 9am the next day. Very prompt and professional service. The technician was nice, on time, and performed the work at a professional level. Shumate is not the cheapest option out there, but do you really want to use the cheapest option on a system that you rely on every single day? You get exactly what you pay for, and for someone that was on a tight budget, the cost was well worth it.

Weve relied on Shumate for HVAC tuneups and plumbing repairs for years now and theyve always been very prompt and professional. Especially when Ive had emergencies, as so many heating, cooling, and plumbing problems are!Shumate just finished installing a brand new HVAC system in our home, after having one installed in another home 2 years ago, and it was a really good experience. The salesman took plenty of time to examine our house to make certain he was recommending the correct system. He made good suggestions and gave us a few choices. He answered every question we had, was very knowledgeable, and the installation was quick and problem free. The installers were totally professional and nice too. The install looks to be very well done and they cleaned up everything afterwards. We are extremely satisfied with Shumate and continue to maintain a service contract at both properties.Oh, and their prices are very competitive.

Always professional and friendly. There are few companies that I have delt with that have had such consistently good customer service. Theyve replaced two A/C units and one furnace for us with friendly, helpful sales people and installers that were happy to help show us how to use the new fancy pants thermostat and answer all of our questions. There were no issues at all and it all went very smoothly with painless financing that was approved from our home the same day we decided on a unit. The sales person that they sent out even talked me out of going with a more expensive unit I was ready to pull the trigger on that was bigger than what he said we needed given the house size and recommended a smaller Lennox unit from the same product line. Not only did I spend $1000-$1500 less (I dont remember the exact price difference as it was the first AC unit that they replaced) but I appreciate that kind of honesty given he would have received a bigger commission. I cant imagine my experience from top to bottom would be better anywhere else. Top notch all around. Highly recommended.

We had a new ac unit installed a year and 7 days ago and unfortunately, we ever had to have Shumate come out 3 times for issues. The week they found a leak in the line causing a loss of refrigerant. Sure would have been easy to simply repair and move on .However; Shumate stepped up after all the issues and replaced the entire unit. This s what you should always buy from a reputable company that stands behind their product . The fact theyve been in business for as many years as they have tells you all you need to know .Thanks Shumate!

I found Shumate through Dale Cardwell. They have done two jobs for me. The first was replacement of a hot water heater. They brought it up to code and replaced all of the old copper pipe above it for less than other quotes. The second job was a blocked condensate line. I had called another company to get a quicker appointment. That company declared it impossible to clear line and wanted to install an alternate line for $1,000. Shumate came to my rescue, cleared the line easily. No more bad plumbing for me. Shumate does outstanding work and are my only plumber for future needs.

What a great bunch of professionals! There is nothing worse than having an old HVAC unit break down in the middle of a Georgia summer, but for two summers in a row that is exactly what has happened to me. Thank goodness for the great guys at shumate, that were not only able to find parts that fit my unit so that I didnt have to buy a new one, but were pleasant, and professional in every way. I feel that the price that they charged was very reasonable, and they got that cold air blowing again quickly! Will not hesitate to use again, and refer friends to them often.

I had Shumate come out and recommend a solution to my weak AC in the upstairs of my house. Out of all the proposals I received, Shumate was the only one that thought out of the box and recommended something besides just replacing my current system. Their proposal was also the lowest price I received and I am extremely happy with the results. My only complaint is that their installation team broke a shelf in my garage and did not even mention it to me. Other than that they were fantastic.

Shumate has been around for a quite long time but they dont let that accomplishment get into their head as theyre very nimble, will do anything to satisfy the customer and work professionally. They were able to help with big projects such as redesigning duct work or plumbing and electric projects of sorts. They even sent their plumber technician on urgent plumbing repair on a late Friday evening from a far corner of the city to fix an urgent issue that 3 other plumbing companies didnt want to do only because it was a Friday. What I appreciated about the plumber/Shumate was the fact that they didnt take advantage of my desperate situation to price gauge; instead, they always present me with fair pricing, even in urgent cases where other competitors may have. Once you establish a long relationship with this company with an yearly maintenance plan, they will not forget you. Thats a trusted, mutual loyalty. It goes a long way - both ways.

I used a different service for years, but switched to Shumate when our furnace finally bit the bullet, back in 2015. They were much cheaper for the same quality and offered a better yearly program. We have had almost no issues but if we do, they are very responsive and never try to upsell you. Just recently had an issue with AC and they came out at 9pm on weeknight and got it fixed quickly. Jairus Watkins was the technician and he is exactly why I do business with Shumate. He diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly but also explained it to me and told me how to do a self fix if it happened again. Even though it was a quick fix he still went through and triple checked everything else. HIGHLY recommend Shumate!!

I have been using Shumate for quite a few years for my maintenance. They always respond quickly, often coming to my rescue the same day I call. I highly recommend Shumate for new installs and for routine maintenance.

UPDATE: Despite the poor telephone experience of last night, when I called again this morning the company said I was on the schedule for this afternoon. The tech actually arrived this morning and replaced a failed capacitor in the unit (less than 5 yo Daiken). I am relieved, and happy that the company took care of me in a relatively short period of time.Ive been a loyal customer since 2007 and used them to install a complete new HVAC system. Today during the worst heat wave my unit stopped cooling and the AC unit is making strange noises every 15 minutes. The unprofessional woman who called me back hours later to schedule, told me they might get to me in 3 days. She didnt care that I am a senior living alone with 3 senior (11 year old) dogs either - just said she has about a hundred other calls to make. It is now almost 9pm and my home is up to 81 and climbing.

Within a minute, the entire crew set out to begin their different tasks with a no nonsense determination. The gentlemen exhibited business professionalism and schooled expertise. I am updating my review after an excellent experience with Shaun, Tino and his team getting everything to a good state with our whole house dehumidifier. Thank you Shumate ! Also happy to hear you are incentivizing vaccinations for your crew. Hope everyone stays safe.We recently decided to install a new Daikin Fit Heat Pump due to our old Trane finally giving out. Shumate mechanical beat other estimates and was a good value. Shaun Hoover was especially impressive at explaining every detailing and at actually showing up at the installation and job site to help make sure our needs were met. Shaun managed everything very well and was very prompt with replies. At first, I was a bit amazed, because he did not follow the typical salesman pitch and was less talkative than most. At the same time, his proposal and the price provided was the very best. Once we did get into the details of the new system (and it was very new to me - I had never heard of Daikin and was a bit concerned about trying a new brand) he had all the material down or was able to quickly find those at Shumate who had the answers. We got quotes from other companies, including our previous HVAC system company, but they just could not compare. Now that the Daikin system is in place, we are, so far, happy with its performance. It definitely seems more powerful and really keeps the air nice and toasty. The most astonishing feature is the outdoor unit - side discharge and very quiet. What a difference compared to our 2005 Trane! The new Thermostat is nice - has a good mid century with intuitive technology. I would suggest a few changes to Daikin, including a feature that would allow one to keep a night mode that is completely dark without the need to change the screen saver to blank screen. I would also suggest they print out a thermostat user manual for every customer instead of relying on the PDF one has to find online (or they could automatically email you the PDF at each install). I havent seen the unit perform in our hot muggy summers and I will update this review about May or June with news on that. I do hope the dehumidification system works well. Right now, it seems, it is necessary for humidity to rise about 5% above ones desired range before the system does anything about it.There were a few things regarding installation that could have been improved. I did not really mind having to clean up and vacuum after the crew had left, but it would have been nice to have been asked if they could have done that for me. It was also no problem for me to clean up the plaster dust and saw dust around the new duct work and supply/returns. But, again, would have been nice for them to do that automatically. Also, there was some strapping of the duct work that was left hanging in our utility room. I did get that fixed as the truck was leaving. Also, the user manuals for air handler and system were simply left on the air handler. Would have been nice to know that or have those handed to me so I was not going in search of them in crawl space. It might be a good idea to institute a final walk through with customer before getting in the truck to leave. Also, a bit more help or availability regarding the thermostat and finishing touches (like painting and fixing around where the thermostat was sized and fixed) would have really been impressive. I got the feeling the crew was wanting to pack up, eat lunch and leave asap (especially after Shaun and Raymond had left the scene). The lack of care with cleaning up did concern me a bit regarding their attention to detail with the install. That said, they seemed, as best as I could tell, to know what they were doing.I think Shumate and Shaun definitely deserve a 5 star overall due to price, professionalism etc.. However, the experience was not absolutely 100% due to the issues listed above. I really think its important to be there for the customer at the end of the job and make sure everything is really on par with the satisfaction guarantee.Thank you Shumate!

Because that worked out so well we then had them re-pipe our entire home, changing out the old polybutylene plumbing. Chris Williams, a consummate pro sales rep, visited us and thoroughly and clearly explained all the workings of the new Harmony system. Because of our past experience with Shumate, we didnt even seek competitive quotes.The install team was a well-oiled machine; 3 teams (6 men), led by Pedro, with Isiah and Luis as well, took out the old & put in the new in 6 hours (!) with improvement in the duct layout, and left the place clean as a whistle.They were super hard workers, and really good guys as well (we talked some soccer). I have had a very good experience with shumate. We made the mistake of swapping to another reliable heating company for a purchase and after care. They upped their prices and did not fit a part that was needed for ongoing maintenance. Im very glad I returned to shumate who spotted this error, rectified it, have resolved a few ac issues under our plan and just sold us a new furnace. I also liked their sales process, not at all pushy but once you say yes they can be with you very quickly. I would only move to another company now if they starting bumping prices up, which they never did previously. Id rather have a long term relationship at a fair rate, than have to keep swapping to get deals. I thoroughly recommend shumate for all your heating, ac, and other household needs. 5 stars.

UPDATE: The general manager did contact me. They installed the new HVAC at the originally promised price within a few days. While I still have reservations about the customer service associated with the original sales manager (who has never called, in case you were wondering) and the gymnastics I had to go through to get to someone interested in resolving the issue, it was handled well at the end.If you had asked me a week ago, I would have recommended Shumate without hesitation as Ive been a customer for several years and was very happy with the level of service. Now, not so much. We received a quote a few months ago to replace both the furnace and the HVAC. At that time, we needed the furnace but the HVAC wasnt critical. We were told that there was no advantage to doing both and that it would be the same price if we decided to do the HVAC at a later date. We went ahead and did the furnace and were pleased with the work. Two weeks ago, we contacted them about moving forward with he HVAC and were given a new quote which was $800 more than the original. When asked to explain the difference, the answer was essentially, not my problem as I dont control the cost from the manufacturer. I find it very difficult to believe that the cost of the materials has risen 25% in a few months. Furthermore, I have called no fewer than three times trying to have a conversation about this and each time Ive been told that either the individual who gave the quote or his supervisor would call me back. Ask me how many times Ive received a call back? Zero. At this point, Im ready to cancel my ongoing service contacts and look for another provider as why would I choose to continue to give money to someone who clearly doesnt value my business?

Have used Shumate for years, but this summer had a love/hate relationship with them. Had a coolant leak they could not find until recently. They were out here 8 times, sometimes just to add coolant, other times looking for the leak. But it was a slow leak, and hard to find. I got frustrated at times, as did Shumate. But they stuck with it, found the problem and fixed it. They were great about the charges -- sometimes not charging me at all for the coolant added or their visit.
